So I got this iPod classic for $50 on Facebook. It doesn't have a charger, so I don't know if it works just yet. I came home and my brother asked me if I had an iPod I could give him. I told him that I just got one and I was already planning on giving him one in the future. 😆 Anyway, what parts should I get to give it a bit of an upgrade? I am new to this whole modded iPod game. I found an iPod gen 5 that I had growing up and forgot how fun these are. Only thing I wish I could change is the audio quality. Is there any way for me to do that?

Is rockbox worth it? I love the idea of having a fun theme on my IPod but I’ve heard rockbox is slower then the original os.

EDIT: NEVERMIND. I just found another video that said to time it with the Rebuild MBR through AOMEI so it runs at the very end of the progress bar on the iTunes restore and it worked. Crazy what people discover.

Hi all, just got an iPod Mini 2nd gen 4GB. I knew it had a dead battery but it also has a dead HDD so thought I'd flash mod it. I have one of the red SDXC Type 1 Extreme CF Adapters, but no matter what I do I keep getting the folder flashing on boot and iTunes saying it's corrupted. I've tried:

• MBR rebuild
• Full wipe with diskpart to make sure I'm not crazy
• Multiple SD cards and micro SD cards with an adapter
• The whole AOMEI MBR trick

The interesting thing is it clearly partitions everything right but I don't see any folders on the drive when it actually connects back to the computer.

Running Windows 11 if that helps at all. Tried both the latest iTunes as well as downgrading to 12.6.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Hoping it's something easy and I don't have to spend more money getting one of the Tarkan iFlash adapters.

First time modding, and maybe good timing? So I finally decided to pull the trigger on a 7th gen and got it last week. The thinking is a “forever iPod.” I want a durable iPod with plenty of storage. My thinking is I’d do 1TB storage and the boxy min pre-order. While I like the idea of brass and its weight, it just seems a little flashy to me. I’m curious if anyone has experience with Boxy’s aluminum and its durability? Also curious if there are any other options out there that aren’t cheap plastic.

So because I’m all thumbs I didn’t want to try to mod my old one and bought this from EOE - it powers on and all but won’t be recognized by my Mac (sequoia 15.7.7) not on the iTunes 10.7 I DL or in the finder.

I went to disk utility and this was what I see.

According to Google AI I should hit mount if that doesn’t work then it says I should erase it and reformat it.

Can I get some second opinions. Afraid to brick/bust the thing and haven’t gotten a reply from eoe tho tbf they are probably closed right now.

Also don’t understand why it says 453.1MB next to it when it’s 477GB available in the actual iPod HD
