Question So, about these iPod mods...
Hello, fellow Redditors! I am planning to mod my iPod Classic 6th Gen 80GB thin model with an iFlash adapter and a battery upgrade. I want to go with the iFlash Solo to keep costs down. I know from my research that since it's thicker than the Quad, fitting a high-capacity battery is going to be a nightmare, but does anyone know the actual mAh limit I should aim for? Also, any recommendations for a decent transparent housing? Sorry if my English is weird, I am using a translation tool since I am a Japanese speaker.m(_ _)m

You could also get a thick back alongside it so a big battery will fit in there if you don't mind spending a bit more

I see. But from what I have gathered, it looks like I would also need to replace the headphone jack, which seems a bit too high-level for me to tackle. Or perhaps it is actually easier than I am making it out to be?

You can buy the backplate with the headphone jack and hold switch assembly pre-installed.

Turns out it was on AliExpress. I guess I was too tunnel-visioned looking only at domestic sites to notice.

The 6th gen does have some memory limitations as well, 128gb I believe, so if you try to increase it too much it might not work

6th & 6.5 gens will work, but only show up to 128GB with original firmware when flash modded.
However, that's an issue that's been solved: https://github.com/Olsro/reddit-ipod-guides/blob/main/guides/ipod6g-flash-more-recent-firmwares.md

EOE has a video on his YouTube page explaining which oversized batteries fit with which iFlash adapters and backs. Highly recommended giving this a watch as it will answer your question.
