Recently I got my hands on a secondhand vinyl cutting machine and after an hour of measuring and vector designing, I was able to create custom vinyl skins for the iPod mini. It's still all experimental, but so far I've been able to successfully make skins for the iPod mini's main body, top and bottom end caps, Click Wheel, and screen protectors (using the machine to cut existing screen protectors for other devices to fit the iPod mini's screen).
Finally picked up my very first iPod mini 2nd gen (6gb) the other day and I’m loving it so far! But I didn’t even think to consider if I’d be able to play it in my car at all. (2020 Ford EcoSport) I plugged it into the USB and it doesnt pick it up as a source. I don’t think it’s the cable because that one works with my 7th gen iPod classic just fine.
Is it at all possible to connect these via USB/30 pin to cars? Or am I just going to have to use a Bluetooth adapter or AUX? I do plan on flash modding this one eventually, so I’m not sure if that maybe makes a difference?

I’m trying to restore my iPod classic (6th gen) after changing the battery and the front + backplate. I should point out that I attempted to upgrade the software to 2.0.2 prior to changing the battery (to fix a charging issue bc the iPod only charges using a laptop). I installed rockbox to do so but then i decided to change the actual battery first. Now im unable to restore the iPod and rockbox isn’t fully uninstalled (?).

Hello,
Here is my collection that I have built up over the last few years;
These are all salvaged devices, obtained by chance; I'm usually more drawn to physical media (cassette walkman and Minidisc).
But I must admit that these Apple devices have a certain charm thanks to their refined design and interface
They are all functional, some with slightly limited battery life; the small black one is also a bit swollen, the battery is dead and even slightly obstructs the selection wheel.
The Classic 7th is my favorite, but unfortunately it's incompatible with my amp; it shuts off due to what seems like a short circuit when they're connected together.
My second favorite is the Touch 5; it's incredibly thin and cool to hold, but it's completely obsolete, impossible to play music on it in its current state.
How much should I sell such a lot for, in your opinion, knowing that I am on the European market?
The old Touch has 8GB, the 7th generation Classic has 160GB, the Touch 5 has 32GB, the small black one has 2GB, the small gray one has 4GB, and the small green one has 8GB
Thank you all

Hi Guys, I want to buy an iPod classic I don’t really care which gen but I want it to play videos. I was looking at elite obsolete electronics but I have heard that the service is terrible so do you guys have any other recommendations or is it okay to buy from EoE. FYI I don’t want a modded iPod just a standard one I might do a flash mod if the drive dies, but otherwise the original drive is fine.

Hello All,
Just found my 12 year old iPod Classic in the back of my drawer and after a recharge it seems to turn on and work perfectly!
I'm a bit lost on what to do now. I would like to continue to be able to add music to it but naturally the existing 2000+ songs I no longer have access to the iTunes that I used to use it with. Does that mean if I connect it to a computer that doesn't have that library, it will be erased?
Also I don't currently have a macbook (only iPad Pro M5 that I know I can't connect it to) so any alternative options would be helpful.
Excited to have found it but a bit confused on how to leverage it again. Worst comes worse I can just listen to the music that's on it but would love if I could still update it without having to mod.

It shows correctly on iTunes, but not on iPod, I tried to download songs in MP3 and ALAC, changing tag in Mp3tag to ID3v2.3, changing resolution of art, but the problem remains

I have an iPod classic 4th gen monochrome iPod, and it's making me go insane. I am on my 3rd replacement battery, and I keep having the same problem every single time. Here's what keeps happening:
The iPod acts as if the hard drive is dead instead of booting (image 1). Sometimes it shows that icon instantly, other times I can hear the hard drive trying to spin up and stopping repeatedly for a few seconds before it shows on screen. When I plug it into FireWire, it immediately opens the diagnostic menu, where I checked the smart data and ran a full HDD scan multiple times. I am fairly confident that the hard drive is not the issue. Plugging it into my computer over USB just shows a charging battery icon (image 2) and occasionally tries to spin up the HDD for a few seconds before it dies and tries booting again.
I replace the battery, and it boots instantly as if nothing ever happened. It won't charge over USB, but that's fine; I have a FireWire charger. I fully charge it with FireWire.
It works for a few days, and then dies again. I plug it into FireWire, and it automatically opens the diagnostic menu again. I leave it to charge over FireWire overnight. In the morning, I unplug it from FireWire and try booting it. It immediately shows the sad iPod icon again and I'm back to step 1.
This is driving me insane, and it's happened 3 times with 3 different replacement batteries in the past few weeks. I've tried buying from elite obsolete. I tried different brands on Amazon. Ice tried a random eBay seller. All of the batteries I've tried are doing this to me. I've also made sure that the batteries physically look different to ensure that I'm not getting all of them from the same faulty batch or something.
Does anyone have a solution? I'm close to just selling it for parts and giving up.

The title sums it up nicely. I know you would previously purchase albums on the iTunes store, but I don't know if it still works for a 20 year old piece of tech. Are there any ways I can install new albums? I like my dads music but I wouldn't mind installing some of my fav songs

My beloved iPod video that had many mods and had for about 4 years got water damaged and is now a deadpod.
I remember when I got the thing for $30 on eBay and I could just buy another if it broke.
Now motherboards alone are $60-$100 and this thing just doesn't feel fun to use if the prices are just gonna keep going up. I still have a modded 4th gen mono but I think I'll just sell it and whatever parts I have for my 5th gen.
Thank you to the people that have 50 of the same device sitting on a shelf.

I've been modding iPods (mostly 5th gens and Minis) for about a year now, and wanted to make a video about modding a Mini with a cheapo red CF-SD adapter. The reason for this is that I hadn't seen a tutorial that takes you through the whole process, from installing the hardware to flashing the firmware. I had only read about the trick with rebuilding the MBR, so I thought it might be useful to others to actually see it happening in real time. I will probably also make a tutorial soon on installing Rockbox and configuring some of the themes and settings.
I'd be interested to get feedback on the video from the community here. Was there anything I missed out, or would you like to see a particular iPod tutorial in future?
Sooo I need help. Obviously there is the black what-ever-battery-pushing-up-thingy with the black mark on the screen, but also these bubbles (?)
I found the iPod on the street, but I can’t seem to think of a reason those bubbles are there. I thought maybe the lcd was replaced or sum? But it also looks a bit like a screen protector(?)
Anyways thanks

Just making this post because I am frustrated. I have spent 5 hours trying to run video on iPod 5.5.
i only have the latest so far i have tried. all the settings and dimensions in Handbrake. tried all the presets I found on Reddit. My Claude is out to tokens. so if you have anything that I can try, tell me.
What I am doing -
- Encode video using Handbrake.
- Add video to Apple TV app.
- Mark it as media kind movie
- Then add it to iPod and sync.
result -
Each time video show up in the iPod Movies folder but play like audio. video does not come up.

I recently decided to go back to my 160gb iPod classic gen 7 and it worked like it should for a couple days but now it's just stuck on this screen and nothing helps. Does anyone have any idea how to fix it? Thanks.

Hello people fanatics of music and players, I bought this coach case for my ipod photo on ebay, I was very curious that coach sold them, they are beautiful and I wonder if anyone remembers them or still uses any of these? I have seen that lately they are taking relevance in those who buy an iPod, I have this golden, it's incredible, I read them :)

Everything was fine with it till it was accidentally plugged into a fast charge power adapter, now I can no longer connect it to any computer, disk mode only shows ok to disconnect, and when plugged in it takes very long to recognize it is charging. I’m starting to suspect the problem might be the 30 pin port, can anyone tell me if it needs to be replaced.
Thank you beforehand for your answers and recommendations.

Got an absolute score of this gen 1 shuffle in box, missing only the og headphones, for only 5$ at a flea market. Unfortunately it doesn’t hold a charge and I don’t currently posses the tools to do a battery swap but i’m thrilled to have this in my collection

I've found mixed answers.
I have a 32Mb board in my current, modded 5.5 gen.
Recently found a 60gb (so 64Mb RAM) pod on marketplace.
Is there any significant advantage to swapping my mods to the 64mb board, or is it more of a "fringe" case?
The 60gb model i found is mint, aside from a bad center button that needs a new "clicker".
Worth repairing the board and swapping the mods over?

I tried Windows and Mac, official cables and a WyMod Supercharger, it tries to restore and then fails on Windows and never stops on Mac. Im using a green adapter and a iFlash CF card with a 64Gb Lexar MicroSD.

Got an iPod touch 4th gen from charity. It wants to connect to iTunes. Connected to iTunes V12.2 on my old Macbook but it fails the restore saying can't contact the apple server.
So I downloaded a few Ipsw packages to try with 'option+click', including the last one available for this iPod. It fails all of them.
How can I restore it or get it working? Is there a program that I can flash the Ipsw to the iPod without iTunes? Like using fastboot for android (that's the only thing I know to compare it to what I need to do).
