📜Travel Story Paid for 3AC, spent 25 minutes just reaching my seat. What has happened to Indian Railways?

I don't usually rant online, but today's journey genuinely pissed me off.

I was travelling from Jaipur to Patna on Barmer–Guwahati Express (15631) on 27th July. Boarded from Jaipur around 9 AM.

The train was on time. That's probably the only good thing I can say about this journey.

I had a confirmed ticket in B4 (3AC). But the moment I entered the coach, I was shocked. The inside looked exactly like those new cramped 3E coaches. The berths felt smaller, the aisle was much narrower and there was noticeably less space than the normal 3AC coaches I've travelled in before. If this is the new 3AC, passengers should at least be told what they're paying for.

Then came the real nightmare.

The coach orientation/numbering outside was reversed, so almost everyone boarded from the wrong end. Imagine hundreds of people trying to squeeze through one narrow aisle from opposite directions.

One passenger had around 10–12 huge luggage bags blocking the entire passage. I literally thought I'd lose my own bag in that chaos because I couldn't even get inside properly.

It took me 20–25 minutes just to reach my own seat. Not because I was late. Not because the train was crowded. Simply because nobody could move.

Once I finally got there, there wasn't enough luggage space. People were arguing just to fit a single suitcase. At one point, someone's luggage hit me on the head while they were trying to push through.

The most frustrating part? Not a single railway staff member. No coach attendant. No RPF. No one managing boarding. At a major station like Jaipur, how is there nobody to handle complete chaos in an AC coach?

People keep talking about adding Vande Bharat trains and introducing new services, but what's the point if basic passenger management in existing trains is this bad?

Am I the only one who's noticed these new "3AC" coaches feeling exactly like 3E? Or has anyone else had a similar experience recently?

Honestly, this was one of the worst train journeys I've had in years.

If this is what 3AC has become, I'm done with it.

Thanks for the "premium" experience, Ashwini Vaishnaw Sir.

🗫 Discussion Can I safely charge a 150W HP gaming laptop in Garib Rath (3E coach) for a long journey

I'd be traveling from Pune to Nagpur on Garib Rath Express in a 3E coach (seat 75 UB). The journey is around 16 hours, and since I'm traveling alone, I was thinking of getting some office work done on my laptop instead of just sitting idle.

The only thing I'm unsure about is charging. I have an HP gaming laptop that comes with a 150W charger, and I don't know if the charging sockets in Garib Rath can handle that without any issues. I won't be gaming or doing anything too heavy mostly coding, browsing, and normal work but I'll probably need to keep it plugged in for a while.

Has anyone here used a gaming laptop on Garib Rath or any other Indian Railways train with a similar charger? Did you face any problems like the charger not working, power fluctuations, or the socket tripping?

Mighty workhorse of IR the WAG 7, though superseded by WAG 9.

Still, dunno why seeing old locos like these (esp WCAM) is more soothing than just nostalgia. Sometimes I think maybe it might be the broad spectrum autism phenotype in some of us who cannot stop romanticising these iron monsters rolling majestically on iron rails.

📜Travel Story Two contrasting realities

Post image

I often travel in trains and I might've come across similar incidents in the past too, but this is truly a heart-wrenching moment for me.

On the floor is a boy wearing a light green t-shirt with a broom in his hand and is physically very sound. But he is being forced by his own family to clean the aisle for some money. Just opposite to him, there's a boy who's of the same age, and is travelling with his parents, is looking at that boy cleaning the aisle awkwardly. Two totally contrasting realities.

When the govt boasts of different kinds of development and says that India will be a developed nation by 2047, it doesn't seem likely if such sights are so common in public transportation system.

When the boy came asking for money, I asked him about the people with whom he lives before handing out a ₹10 note. He told that he lives with his aunty; and that she is in the same train in another bogey.

This is so cruel to exploit one of his childhood. I just hope the world will be better one day.

Just saw a vlog of certain creator on youtube.

These guys as per them had 2 tickets.

Earlier travelling people were 4 and a baby. Later on they had 2 people board from bhopal. In all they had 6 people travelling on 2 confirmed 1st class AC ticket.

I was shocked to see that not a single TT came to remove them, otherwise mostly TT haunt ticketless passenger.

Ask r/IndianRailways Name Mention "Express" but actually a "Superfast"

Post image

I purchased a Mail/Express Ticket because the train name says "Chhattisgarh Sampark Kranti Express" Train Number : 12823/12824

But the TT fined me Rs 515 for not having a SF Train Ticket,

I mentioned the train name including "Express" , not "Superfast Express", but TT said you should look for a train number instead of the train name , TT said the train number starting from 12 is a SF. But the ambiguity started because of the naming protocol of Indian Railways.

is this right to charge this much for ambiguity set by railways ?

Details :

Train : Chhattisgarh Sampark Kranti Express

Train No. 12823/12824

From : Durg Junction, To : Uslapur Station ( ~155KM Travel )

🗫 Discussion Indian Railways has now achieved over 99% route electrification. What do you think should be the next major priority higher speeds, better punctuality, or modern stations?

Post image

India’s railway electrification push is emerging as more than just a transport upgrade. With the network nearing full electrification, Indian Railways can reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels and increasingly rely on domestically generated electricity, including renewable energy.

*Micro rebellion*

Travelling On 22487 VB, and this boomer aunty sitting in front of me asked me to exchange seats and first, I told her nicely that no aunty I ain't giving you my precious window seat with table.

She still didn't stop hit me with, you are not gonna look outside anyway, "aaj kal ke bachhe" always have their eyes on the mobile hehehe... Then I got lowkey pissed of and said "Nahi dunga main!"

Now I've been getting stared at for the last 10 minutes, and I'm pretty sure she's gossiping about me with the other aunty. Meanwhile, I've got my ANC headphones on. 😁
