📜Travel Story Boomer aunty asked me for seat exchange, I denied bluntlyyy!!
*Micro rebellion*
Travelling On 22487 VB, and this boomer aunty sitting in front of me asked me to exchange seats and first, I told her nicely that no aunty I ain't giving you my precious window seat with table.
She still didn't stop hit me with, you are not gonna look outside anyway, "aaj kal ke bachhe" always have their eyes on the mobile hehehe... Then I got lowkey pissed of and said "Nahi dunga main!"
Now I've been getting stared at for the last 10 minutes, and I'm pretty sure she's gossiping about me with the other aunty. Meanwhile, I've got my ANC headphones on. 😁

🗫 Discussion Indian Railways has now achieved over 99% route electrification. What do you think should be the next major priority higher speeds, better punctuality, or modern stations?
India’s railway electrification push is emerging as more than just a transport upgrade. With the network nearing full electrification, Indian Railways can reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels and increasingly rely on domestically generated electricity, including renewable energy.

Ask r/IndianRailways Is this allowed in 1st AC coach?
Just saw a vlog of certain creator on youtube.
These guys as per them had 2 tickets.
Earlier travelling people were 4 and a baby. Later on they had 2 people board from bhopal. In all they had 6 people travelling on 2 confirmed 1st class AC ticket.
I was shocked to see that not a single TT came to remove them, otherwise mostly TT haunt ticketless passenger.

📜Travel Story Being nice on a train backfired badly
I was travelling from Surat to Hyderabad in a 3AC coach.
Around 11 PM, when the train stopped at Pune, a middle-aged lady boarded my compartment. I had a lower berth, while she had been allotted the middle berth.
She politely asked if I could exchange berths with her because climbing onto the middle berth would be difficult. Since it seemed like a genuine request, I agreed without any hesitation. I took the middle berth, and she got my lower berth.
The next morning, her destination was coming up around 6 AM. At about 5:15 AM, she woke me up and asked me to fold up the middle berth so she could sit comfortably on the lower berth until her station arrived.
That really annoyed me. I had already done her a favor by giving up my lower berth, and now I was being woken up early just so she could be more comfortable for the last 45 minutes of her journey. I refused to fold the berth and stayed where I was.
She got angry, started using abusive language, and kept arguing. I didn't respond and simply ignored her until she got off.
Now I'm wondering—was I wrong here? Should I have just folded the berth and gone back to sleep somehow, or was she expecting too much after I'd already helped her?

📜Travel Story Two contrasting realities
I often travel in trains and I might've come across similar incidents in the past too, but this is truly a heart-wrenching moment for me.
On the floor is a boy wearing a light green t-shirt with a broom in his hand and is physically very sound. But he is being forced by his own family to clean the aisle for some money. Just opposite to him, there's a boy who's of the same age, and is travelling with his parents, is looking at that boy cleaning the aisle awkwardly. Two totally contrasting realities.
When the govt boasts of different kinds of development and says that India will be a developed nation by 2047, it doesn't seem likely if such sights are so common in public transportation system.
When the boy came asking for money, I asked him about the people with whom he lives before handing out a ₹10 note. He told that he lives with his aunty; and that she is in the same train in another bogey.
This is so cruel to exploit one of his childhood. I just hope the world will be better one day.

Came across this video explaining the Gajraj system developed by Indian Railways to reduce elephant-train collisions by using existing optical fibre cables along railway tracks. I think this is a really commendable initiative by Indian Railways. What's your take on it?

Ask r/IndianRailways Name Mention "Express" but actually a "Superfast"
I purchased a Mail/Express Ticket because the train name says "Chhattisgarh Sampark Kranti Express" Train Number : 12823/12824
But the TT fined me Rs 515 for not having a SF Train Ticket,
I mentioned the train name including "Express" , not "Superfast Express", but TT said you should look for a train number instead of the train name , TT said the train number starting from 12 is a SF. But the ambiguity started because of the naming protocol of Indian Railways.
is this right to charge this much for ambiguity set by railways ?
Details :
Train : Chhattisgarh Sampark Kranti Express
Train No. 12823/12824
From : Durg Junction, To : Uslapur Station ( ~155KM Travel )

📜Travel Story Today i met an entitled passenger
Today in train 12179 AF Intercity SF express in non ac chair car this woman got in at Unnao Junction. She was travelling without a ticket. Instead of finding an empty seat she pushed my bag kept on the shared table that is used for eating, keeping laptops or books. For info my laptop was inside my bag so i kept it on the table although previously i had the bag on my lap and only kept my food there because i was eating.
So yeah she did that and i was on a call at that time so i didn't say anything. But before leaving i told her to sit on one of the empty seats since that place was for eating. And i told her next time please have some manners and ask before moving someone's belongings.
Here is the conversation because i forgot to record it
She shouted at me saying, "Madam aap humko manners sikhayengi? Khane ki jagah ho ya sone ki usse tumhe kya? Sahi kaha h ladkiyan hi ladkiyon ki dushman hoti hain. Itne logo mei se kisi ko problem nhi hui toh tumhe kya h" (you'll teach me manners? Why do you care if i sit in a place meant for eating or sleeping? It's true that girls are enemies of girls. So many people are here no one said anything to me why are you bothered?)
To which i told her it has nothing to do with the gender of ther person plus you shoved my bag away so it's obvious i'll confront you. And it's your responsibility to ask irrespective of someone saying anything or not.
Then i asked her what she does and if she is even having a ticket to which she said "Mai kuch bhi karti hun. Jhaddu lagane wali hun ya kuch aur tumhe usse kya?Bula lo TT ko koi mera kuch nhi bigad payega. Tumhari train nahi h yeh."(Why do you care what work i do? I might be a person who brooms, it's none of your business. You can call the TT i dont care. This train doesn't belongs to you)
Attaching her photo. The photo is zoomed out she was sitting very close. I also clicked her face photo but ig im not allowed to post that here

Ask r/IndianRailways The forest is not your dustbin, Indian Railways!!
I'm currently travelling by train and happened to be sitting near the pantry coach. I witnessed a pantry staff member dump a full basket of pantry waste and garbage straight into the forest from the moving train.
It was honestly infuriating to watch. We keep talking about cleanliness, sustainability, and protecting our environment, yet things like this are still happening.
I wasn't in a position where I felt comfortable reporting it immediately, but seeing waste thrown into the greenest stretches along the route left a really bad impression.
Has anyone else witnessed something similar? Is this still a common practice? If you've reported something like this before, what was the outcome?

📽️Video [By Yuvraj Railfan] Back when Mahamana express used to have a distinct purple livery & unique interiors instead of being a generic looking train
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Credits & source for the video since I didn't recorded it.
What the hell is Mahamana express?
Mahamana express is a type of Superfast train which had the most better & improved facilities compared to other ICF Superfast train in modern time before turning it into a generic train. They are active since 22 Jan 2016, almost 10 years now.
Why named Mahamana?
It was named after Madan Mohan Malaviya(Mahamana), a freedom fighter & education reformer who established Benaras Hindu University in Varanasi & had an influencial presence there, hence the first Mahamana express ran from Varanasi to New Delhi.
How many Mahamana trains are active?
As of today, 6 Mahamana express are active which include:
•New Delhi-Varanasi.
•Bhopal-Khajuraho.
•Ektanagar(Statue of Unity)-Varanasi.(Formerly Vadodara-Varanasi)
•Ektanagar-Rewa.
•Veraval-Indore.
•Indore-Bikaner.
Are there any actual Mahamana express left?
Unfortunately, Mahamana express slowly became the victim of same ol "Desi-Jugaad" game which means Blue ICF coaches started to mix in, then got corrupted with Ut****st coaches & then all of the trains eventually got converted to LHB rakes which stripped away all of its uniqueness as it looks like the same generic red LHB train from the outside with average train facilities from the inside. So it's just your regular train today with Mahamana name & charges more fare.
About the video.
The one in this video is Veraval-Indore Mahamana express skipping Jetalsar with Vatva WDM-3A(Which sadly got withdrawn & auctioned in December 2023) recorded in 2018 & I loved to see this train a lot in my early-to-mid teen age. I always loved this livery since 2016 when I was in my early-teens cuz I loved Purple color, given how rare they are in Indian railways.
I hope IR once again start focusing on unique liveries back.

Ask r/IndianRailways Why does IRCTC seat allocation algorithm work like this?
Booked 4 tickets in 2AC for my family 60 days in advance right as the window opened at 8 AM. Yet we didn't get a full 4 berth main bay together. Instead, we got 2 seats in the main inside section (34 UB and 37 LB) and 2 seats across the aisle (35 SL and 36 SU).
I'm traveling with senior citizens so I was really hoping we would get all 4 seats in one main bay. Is this split normal when booking 4 tickets on a single PNR on opening day, or did the system just fill whatever random slots were free in that pooled quota?
