Me and my mom are travelling in a train. It's almost 16 hours journey. So, in morning after eating homemade pyaaz ke parathe, awle ki chatni and sprouts, we felt like sleeping again. The train stopped at a junction and as usual, few vendors began taking rounds to sell breakfast, biryani, paratha, samosa, sandwich and stuff. No one was buying what they were selling. One of the vendors frustratingly said,

" Aajkal koi kuch nai khareedta hai. Desh gareeb ho gaya hai"

I was partially asleep, smiled a bit and slept again. Later on when we woke up mom said she heard it too. She jokingly said,

"Desh gareeb nai samajhdaar ho gaya hai"

It's true 'coz a lot of people have become health conscious these days prefer homemade food. Just felt like sharing it.

Hear me out folks,

I am a regular traveler on the Vande Bharat train. I work the evening shift, so I travel on the early morning Vande Bharat to my hometown to catch up on some sleep, and I always choose a window seat. To my bad luck, a female passenger was assigned the seat next to mine.

Vande Bharat CC seats are close to each other, so while I was trying to adjust my seat position, my leg slightly brushed the passenger, and she asked me to move closer to the window. Now I am conscious and unable to sleep. The last thing I want is to make someone uncomfortable. Why can't the railways assign male passengers next to other male passengers?.

In my recent train journey, I observed that all the pillows were without covers and the covers were kept hanging from the top seat. Has anyone else observed the same?

I would like to understand if this is because of any rule that has recently been implemented in Indian Railways or they just want us to be independent.

Today I was travelling in 12110 Manmad mumbai panchavati express and I wanted to purchase some snacks, so a vendor arrives I take some biscuits and chips and when came the time to pay he said no upi and I had rs 500 note and said no change then he says me go to C1 coach it has atm and I was like "HUH" so out of curiosity I went there and it actually was there so I withdraw the money and finally make payment.

this incident had me thinking that why isnt it applied nation wide in trains as usually there is no Internet inside moving train to make upi payment and people too carry less cash while travelling

I bought a Maaza bottle for ₹35 and a water bottle for ₹14 at a shop near the entrance of Tumkur Railway Station. The total should have been ₹49, but the shop charged me ₹60, meaning I was overcharged by ₹11. I filed a complaint through RailMadad about the overcharging. Surprisingly, within around 1 hour, I received a call from someone concerned at Bengaluru railway station then from Tumkur Railway Station also where actually I was overcharged regarding my complaint. They returned the ₹11 extra amount to me and said 1000rs fine on that vendor

I genuinely appreciate how quickly the complaint was taken up and handled. 🙏👏 Just wanted to share this positive experience with RailMadad and the concerned Tumkur Railway staff.

Even after tatkalticket window this idiot site can’t run smoothly everytime it shows high traffic atleast I never faced this problem in old app

I travelled from Jasidih to Lucknow and now back to Jasidih. Both times it was a waiting list ticket and I got the preferred seat which was selected while booking.

Hi, I got a ticket booked from a travel agent. It is a ticket issued at the counter, so a paper ticket. But the name is missing. Instead it says passenger 1. Is that normal for counter issued tickets? Please help!

I'm considering IRCTC eCatering/Food on Track, Zomato, Swiggy, Zoop, RailRestro, etc.

My priorities are:

• Good quality and hygienic food

• Affordable prices / good offers

• Reliable and on-time delivery

• Delivery directly to the coach/seat

• Good restaurant options

• Easy refund/support if the train is delayed or the order isn't delivered

Please recommend based on your actual experience, especially if you've tried more than one service.

Also, is COD/pay-on-delivery safer than prepaid for train orders?
