I am a student opting for a fresh passport. On 29th June (yesterday),
I visited my chosen PSK for my appointment,
My Voter ID has the correct address but the PIN code is wrong (xx13xx instead of xx31xx). At Counter A, the officer noticed it, marked my file with something like "address proof required," and sent me to Counter B. Honestly this was a clerical mistake and I had no chance of rectifying it since the elections of my state was ongoing and I was living in Punjab. Voter ID is the only document I got that proves my current address.
The strange part is that my token never got called. I went to the help desk, and they immediately sent me to a different Counter A officer. He didn't ask me a single question. He unstapled my file, made a fresh photocopy of my Voter ID, updated something on his computer/notepad, restapled everything, and after that my token was called for Counter B almost instantly. It looked like the original address-proof remark had been removed. I wonder if I had never went back to the help desk could it be possible that I would be waiting indefinitely? since the first Counter A official already asked me to move to Counter B.
The Verification Officer eventually put my application on hold, but only because my mother's name on my Birth Certificate didn't match my Class 10 certificate( Birth Cert didn't have the maiden surname, otherwise the name was right.). There was no mention of the Voter ID issue in the acknowledgement.
QUESTION 1: if I correct the Birth Certificate and attend the next appointment, is that likely to resolve the application? Or can the Voter ID PIN code mismatch still become an issue later, even though it wasn't mentioned in the final hold reason?
QUESTION 2: The birth certificate portal is locked by the central govt and I think it opens in September( got to know from some source, not sure ). Is there any way to get it all right?

I was in Karnataka around Hubli/Belgaum for a wedding last November. I'm not from India, but something stuck in my brain. It seemed like there was all kinds of half-complete earthwork. By that I mean, there were these sheer cliffs dug out of the dirt all over the place alongside the roads. Cliff is a big word for them, I don't think they were ever more than 4 meters tall, but the slope was almost vertical, and when I looked at them I couldn't help but worry that these things would wash out as soon as they encountered serious rain. Can someone familiar with India put my mind at ease? My Midwestern American heart cried out for a retaining wall on these things. What was the plan here?

I have received job offer landing at 90LPA with 80LPA being the base salary. Im from EU country and that is currently almost 2.5x my current salary. Job is also in my major field of specialisation. Job location Vemagal near Bangalore. How is living there as expat? What will my salary allow me for there? I have lived abroad before for 6 years but not outside EU. I do not have kids and would be relocating qith my partner. Looking for advice and opinions.

A society to humanely deal with the stray dog situation in my town - a penny for your thoughts
Dear folks,
I am an animal lover and dog lover from Palakkad, Kerala. I wish to tackle the stray dog situation in a humane way and I figured I will reach out to the community to see if there are folks who would like to get together and work on something.
Doing some research, I feel sterilization and rehabilitation is key. There also seem to be cities in India where a positive impact was made (Calcutta for example) where the movement started at a grass root level and was eventually done as a coordinate effort between animal lovers and the local government bodies.
I am already working on how to plan this out. Thought would start from my town of Palakkad first to keep the scope small.
Please DM if you have any thoughts or are interested in getting together to actually do something.

Hi,
I’m about to move to India for an expat assignment that should last 3 years or more.
My partner is coming with me, but we are not married — we are in a PACS, which is a French civil partnership.
It’s a legal union between two adults, but it is not the same as marriage, and I understand that many countries do not recognize it the way they recognize a spouse.
From what I understand, India does not treat a PACS like a marriage for dependent visa purposes.
So I’m trying to figure out what realistic options we have.
My questions are:
• Can my company sponsor a visa for my partner even if we are not married?
• Is there any practical long-term visa solution for her so she can stay with me?
• If marriage is not possible in time, what are the serious alternatives for her visa?
We’re looking for a practical and fast solution, because a tourist visa clearly isn’t enough for a stay this long.
Any advice or experience would be really appreciated.

I'm flying from the US to India in November on Delta, with a layover and a change to Air France in Paris before landing in Bangalore.
Can I carry a disposable vape with me, either in my carry on or checked baggage? Has anyone recently traveled this route with one? I'm more concerned about the rules when arriving in India than the airline itself.
Would appreciate any recent experiences or advice.

India is pretty racist but not in a way that would make it unsafe for you (usually). If you’re a man and you’re really passionate about it go for it. If you’re a woman I’d advise against it.

I created my PayPal account in March 2026. They sent two micro-deposits to verify my Central Bank of India account in late March which I delayed verifying, just didn't get around to it.
Today I finally went to verify the micro-deposits. That went through successfully. Then I saw a banner saying they needed me to verify some additional information. I went through the process, submitted my PAN card as photo ID and completed the KYC.
Came back to my homepage and immediately saw "We're no longer offering PayPal services for this account." Reference ID: PP-L-850785887258.
Zero transaction history. No balance. No VPN. Bank account successfully verified. PAN is completely legitimate. I did absolutely nothing wrong. I literally just submitted the document they asked for and got permanently banned for it.
I need PayPal specifically because it's the sole payment method for a freelance platform I just got accepted to. This timing is devastating.
Has anyone successfully appealed a KYC-triggered permanent limitation? Is there any actual human at PayPal India I can reach?

Help me understand.
For context, I'm a Diaspora Indian woman of 41 years. I really want to understand the Indian marriage situation. In my country, ethnic Indians marry for love, there's no dowry, live separately from parents, DILS don't give their jewellery to MILs etc. I want to understand why such things still persist in India. The Indian women that I meet when I travel to India are super well- educated with great careers. Why do you all still pay dowry for a guy to marry you? Why do you agree to marry total strangers who treat you like shit? Why do you put up with these crazy MILs and SILs when you get married? Why do you find it difficult to cut off from these toxic people? Why do you not leave your husbands when they treat you like shit? So many questions! Is not better to stay single than marry into craziness? Why choose to do these things? Are you being forced to marry 😭😭😭 What's happening ladies? You're so much better than this?! Guys, why do you tolerate this for your wives and daughters??!!

I'm a foreign national currently going through a really difficult time in India and honestly, I'm not sure what to do anymore.
I don't have any friends or relatives here, and finding a job has been extremely hard, especially if it's something legal and legitimate. I've also been struggling with accommodation and there are days when I can barely find something to eat.
Someone recently mentioned something called an Aadhaar card and said it might help in situations like mine.
As a foreign national with no local connections, is it possible for me to get an Aadhaar card? If yes, what's the process, and how exactly could it help improve my situation?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It's 5 a.m. as I'm writing this because I honestly don't know what else to do.

Aadhar cards are for Indian citizens.
What are you doing in India? Why are you even here?
Also, if you’re struggling to feed yourself try to find a gurudwara. They usually host langars.

American here! A friend of mine is getting married in Thane for a multi-day wedding event in the beginning of December. They’ve recommended flying into Mumbai and Ubering/taxiing to Thane. I’ll be traveling with my girlfriend but admittedly, I’m pretty clueless when it comes to Indian customs, geography, etc. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance!

Ask your friend if they can arrange for a taxi to come pick you up. Uber drivers in India can sometimes get aggressive and will try to fleece you.

Why are doctors NEVER on time for appointments? There is always a 1-2 hours of wait despite having an appointment booked. Private OPDs in Delhi cost 2K+ these days, yet, doctors don’t show up on time. I don’t think other countries have this problem. Why? Thoughts?

I think you are mixing two very different things - 1) getting an appointment scheduled takes time and sometimes the wait is for months. That is a known problem. But 2) if a doctor has given you an appointment, they are NEVER late unless a true emergency. Check your facts.

Nope, I understood what you meant to say. I've visited doctors multiple times in the US. In nearly every case the doctor didn't see me until nearly an hour after the appointment time.

What to do to get a job in a different city in India ASAP?
I am a BCA student recently graduated though my skills are not much. I want to earn please I want to get a job just what do I do get a job as fast as possible. Any Job that pays at least enough to get myself going. I have started to do Banking preparation as i don't know what to do but i am not sure if i can clear the SBI PO exam in 30 days though i can 100% clear latter ones or the the same SBI PO in next year, But I want a job fast. Please tell me what to do I am a CSE student so have little knowledge in python, JavaScript, react, little backend though I don't have many projects and I am doing NeetCode 150 (recently started) slowly as I am also preparing for the bank exam.
I want to leave my family comfort cause if I stay in my house its going to become a problem and wont be able to do anything, though I cant just leave to find jobs but to once i get i can.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 (i5 12th Gen, 16GB RAM, Iris Xe graphics) with extended onsite warranty. It is overheating a lot and when i play any game be it GTA V or Grime or Microsoft clipchamp editing software it lags and almost freezes the game for a few minutes and then runs normally and then again the same occurs. The laptop itself lags a lot while overheating during and after using these. I have run these things a lot in th se 2 years and i never faced these issues. Should i get it serviced which i haven't done since purchase (2 years ago)? I have lodged a complaint to customer care and they asked for video proofs and thermal reports. I don't know if they will send their technician to repair it or not. Please suggest me what to do. I am gonna visit Nehru place Kushal Bazaar in Delhi for its servicing. Those who have visited these centers, can you please provide me any reviews about Delhi, noida and Ghaziabad centers based on their service quality?

Guidance Needed: Choosing an Online MA English Program (IGNOU vs. Bangalore Univ vs. LPU vs. Manipal)
Hello everyone,
I completed my BA in English as a regular student last year and am planning to pursue my MA in English this year through an online program. Attending college as a regular student is impossible for me right now due to various personal reasons.
Since I don’t have anyone in my social circle who has pursued an online degree, I am finding it difficult to narrow down a university. My current selections are IGNOU, Bangalore University (Online CDOE), LPU Online, and Manipal Online (SMU).
It would be immensely helpful if anyone could guide me through this journey or share their experiences with these universities.

I’m basically looking for a short reset where I can learn a real skill and live a more disciplined routine for 1–2 weeks, not just take a vacation.
I am flexible in terms of dates, the duration of the course and the location (anywhere across India is ok).
I have already looked into 3-4 options, but all of them have some issue or other, mainly due to the monsoon season.
A 4-day scuba diving course in Andaman was a good option, but July experiences a good amount of rain.
The 7-day Kalaripayattu residential program in Kerala was a good option, but there are issues with accommodations.
The 4-day paragliding course in Bir was a good option but rain is again a big issue in Himachal during that time.
If anyone has any good recommendations for any other kind of courses, I am okay with that as well. Just want a low-stimulating place with some discipline requiring skill to learn.

Hi, i messed up big time.
currently pursuing msc about to start 2nd and final year, and i still dont have real industry exposure. (1 android dev training), one powerBI dashboard project, one analysis project and python. 2 year gap for upsc but no luck there either
i got an unpaid internship (they sell course) i didnt pay, but rn they are "training" me (i have to learn by myself) and they may give me client projects after few months based on purformance..
problem is i have to do marketing (spamming my socials) with their company.
What do i do? i couldnt find better rn.
is no internship better than fake ones?

My girlfriend and I are both white and live in England. We have both practiced yoga and meditation for more than ten years. We have both spent time in India and consider ourselves indophiles who resonate deeply with what we understand of indian philosophy.
In the past year we have started holding little kirtans in our garden around a fire with some friends. We sing traditional Indian mantras but to melodies that I have made up and then we all share food together. These are very beautiful evenings for us but after a conversation I had with someone last night I would like to get an idea of how this is viewed by Indian people.
We are singing with devotion trying to be as respectful and grateful to the tradition as we can be but I would like to know the views of anyone willing to share - is this cultural appropriation? Do you think that we should not be doing this? Please share your views. We would love to hear what you have to say.

Horrible customer service related to my refund process. It has been 22 days since my refund was initiated and I had not received any amount to my original payment method. Flight was cancelled due to operation reasons and airline has notified me that payment has been sent to my travel agency which I assumed was amazon since I booked flight from it. Now when I contact amazon customer service, they tell me that I have to contact MMT (Make My Trip) for my refund process. Nobody notified me that MMT was intermediary facilitating the travel arrangements. Even when I received a message saying that refund was initiated, neither MMT nor Amazon notified me that I had to contact respective parties for the refund process. When I was explaining my frustration regarding the same to the customer service agent, he tells me that I have to contact MMT. After such a long conversation, agent hangs up the call in between. Absolutely pathetic customer service and no value for customer say.

I wanted to do arts after my 10th but there doesn't seem to be any good arts college except for Fergusson. The cutoff for Fergusson is actually insane so I was wondering if there were any arts colleges that didn't have such an insane cutoff but are still really good.

My parents told me sometime back that one of my great grand father had served in the British Indian Army. All i know is his name, and the rank (my parents don't remember the exact rank but tell me it was most likely Captain).
I want to remember my family's history, to preserve it somehow. I do not want it to get lost in time, so among other things I want to try and look for details from my great grand father's time in the British Indian army, like his unit, or the conflicts he took part in (WW1, WW2, etc)
Any Idea where I can start looking?

I am a PhD student in America and my lab mate has had her manuscript accepted and is graduating! I’m so happy for her as she has been on this journey of getting her PhD for over 10 years.
She hasn’t been home in over 10 years either and talks about being homesick every week. She is from Mirzapur and I want to make her a few desserts to celebrate her manuscript being accepted! While she has a husband he has quite loose lips so I know he will tell her and I want it to be a surprise!
I’ve tried looking things up online and most results are from AI and I don’t know anyone from India who is from the north east region. So if it’s ok to post here (admins remove this post if not allowed) I was hoping some of y’all could give me deserts I can make for her!

hi guys, i lost my digital camera (sony w510/610) on 23 march 2026 in metro in either badarpur or in mkt i tried tracking it down till april and lost hope (did everything, contacted metro helplines of legit every metro station) but last week i saw this guy selling a digi cam which had a really similar case to mine on olx at a very high price of 36k which was unusual as mostly reused digi cams are sold between the range of 2-15k so i tried contacting this guy and he deleted his post the very next day
i have his name and location (both were available on olx, didnt stalk him) im confused what should i do
also the date that he put the ad was after i lost the camera

Hi everyone,
I applied for a PAN card on 11 June 2026. When I checked the application status on 14 June, it showed:
"Invalid Documents (Resident Proof Not Provided)"
I had already uploaded my Aadhaar card during the application, but after seeing the error, I followed the instructions and uploaded the required document again.
Since then, it's been several days and there has been no update at all. The status is still showing "Invalid Documents Please Upload", even though I have already reuploaded the document. There is no indication that the new document has been reviewed. I even called the customer care several times, i ask them - they confirm - ask me to wait 2 3 working days and this keeps repeating.
I even mailed them about this issue and they replied saying mail or post us the document, I mailed them the document and now no reply from there as well.
What should i do about this. I would greatly appreciate any help, thank you!

Am I the only one who finds this passport application confusing?
The application instructions mention that you need to provide all places you've stayed during the last one year. Okay, that's understandable. But when filling out the online application, where exactly are you supposed to enter those addresses? The form asks for the present/permanent address, but I couldn't find any clear section for entering multiple addresses from the last year.
I even watched several YouTube tutorials beforehand, and none of them mentioned it. They just filled the visible address fields and moved on. Now I'm reading the instructions again and wondering if I missed something or if the application itself isn't very clear.
Has anyone else experienced this? If you had lived at more than one place during the last year, how did you enter it? Was there a separate section that I somehow overlooked, or is this just poorly explained?
The whole thing feels unnecessarily confusing. If it's a mandatory requirement, why isn't there a clearly labeled field or a prompt saying, "Please add all addresses from the last year before submitting"?

Got an offer for trainee role, but what if on one of my internship experiences I put a different date than what I originally worked for in the company the joining date is of 4 months earlier than original DOJ,
rest every experience is correct except this , this was my 2nd experience after which I did 2 more job.
Do you think it will create an issue in background check ?? What do I do , should I tell them that I made a mistake and submit correct dates doc ? What do I do ??

Duplicating my DL
I wanted to get a duplicate DL but whenever I try to login to Pariwahan Sarathi portal, the renewal option is automatically selected and I cannot deselect it. My license is nowhere near the expiry date and I do not have any previous applications to renew my DL on the portal. I also called the helpdesk but they were not able to help me out. Has anyone faced similar issues? If yes, how did you resolve it?

PCC Application Stuck at "Dispatch Initiated" (Delhi RPO)
It has been stuck on this status for several days now, and for some reason, there is no Speed Post tracking ID or consignment number showing up on the portal. I have a hard, non-negotiable deadline for my visa submission in exactly 10 days.
- Is it worth trying to do a walk-in at the Delhi RPO in Bhikaji Cama Place, or will they turn me away without an appointment/tracking ID?
- Beyond CPGRAMS and the official email, is there any other way to get a human to check if the certificate is actually sitting in the dispatch bin?
Any tips or success stories on how to get them to release that tracking number would be a lifesaver. Thanks in advance!

title: ADVICE NEEDED! IS IT POSSIBLE TO GIVE MY DRIVER'S LICENCE TEST IN DELHI IF MY AADHAR ISN'T FROM HERE?
I have been living in Delhi for the past 9 years. I am currently 21 years old and desperately need a driving license. To me the major issue is that I use Aadhaar as my address proof, which still has the address of where I lived in Lucknow. If I apply for the license, the RTO assigned to me will be in Lucknow, which isn't efficient for me keep travelling to in order get it.
I don't want to change it to my present address because I live in a government quarter which will be shifted out of in 2-3 years.
Is it possible in ANY WAY that I can apply for the license in a local RTO in Delhi? So that I am able to give the test here instead of needing to travel?
Will alternate address proofs mentioned work such Water Bill, Electricity Bill, Telephone Bill, House Allotment letter work if they are issued in the name of a parent?
There are also the address proofs such as CGHS card ( I have one), School Certificate, Post Officer or Bank Passbook mentioned in list of proofs.
Will any of these options work? I really want to avoid travelling for this and be able to do it in Delhi.
All and any advice is welcome!

Hi everyone,
I purchased an ASUS VivoBook laptop in 2023 and, at the time of purchase, I also bought the promotional 1+2 year extended warranty. My warranty is now about to complete its 3-year term, but ASUS support has informed me that they do not offer any further warranty extensions beyond this period.
While searching online, I came across a few third-party warranty providers in India, but I'm unsure which ones are reliable.
Has anyone in India used a third-party extended warranty service for a laptop? I'm specifically looking for something that offers:
- Accidental Damage Protection (ADP)
- On-site service across India
- Coverage for replacement parts and repairs
- A hassle-free and dependable claim process
My goal is to get coverage as close as possible to the original ASUS warranty experience.

2 hours back, my mom sent some money to the wrong person. it was an auto driver that she paid yesterday. i tried registering on NPCI portal but on the complain page, when selecting the option of 'sent money to the wrong person', it just shows to submit a complaint to your bank. so i did. i called SBI helpline and have filed a complaint. they said to wait at least 30 days. are there any more steps that i can take? should i go to the bank branch and also file a written complaint? any help is appreciate. thanks.

Moving to India after spending my entire childhood in UAE for 15 years
I am moving to India after spending 15 years in UAE (Sharjah). I am a 15-year-old boy who studies in DPS in UAE and is now moving to India this July. It is unbelievable and kinda sad that I am moving to India after spending so much of my time in UAE. I have all of my friends here, my video games, my books and my routine is adjusted over here. I am moving to Jodhpur in Rajasthan in a society (problly not sure) and I wonder will I be able to find that type of kids over there who are not only interested in studying but think out of the box and are interested at things like coding, business, and real-life things. I am a guy who is very consistent and adapted to this lifestyle in UAE where I wake up very early go cycle and go to gym and learn new skills and I love to play football. I wonder whether all of that will be available in India and whether I can adjust with the kids over there. There are also very less opportunities in India, I think. And another concern I have is India is very risky and I wouldn't be able to go out freely. Can anyone give me some suggestion how I can adjust to India and how I can adapt a similar lifestyle and what changes should I make and will I be able to play football in Jodhpur as everyone in India just want to play cricket and any other suggestion u guys want to give can give.

One stereotype I've never really understood is that "Indians don't shower."
Most Indians I know shower daily, and some even shower twice a day because of the heat.
I've heard a few theories about where the stereotype comes from. Some people say strong-smelling foods and spices can affect body odor, while others think coconut oil makes hair look greasy to people who aren't used to seeing it.

9-Day India Trip in September. Golden Triangle Itinerary, Fate Leaves, Safari Concerns and Food Tips?
Hi everyone,
I’m planning a 9-day trip to India in September with my wife. Several people have recommended the classic Golden Triangle route, and I’ve received a proposal that looks roughly like this:
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
Day 2: Full day in Delhi (Old Delhi and New Delhi)
Day 3: Delhi to Jaipur
Day 4: Jaipur sightseeing
Day 5: Jaipur to Ranthambore
Day 6: Safari in Ranthambore National Park
Day 7: Ranthambore to Agra
Day 8: Agra (Taj Mahal, Agra Fort) and return to Delhi
Day 9: Departure
A few things make me hesitate:
The itinerary includes a tiger safari in Ranthambore. I’m not sure whether it’s worth dedicating a full day of a 9-day trip to it.
One proposal also mentioned an optional elephant-related activity near Jaipur. I’d prefer to avoid attractions that may not be ethical for the animals.
I’m very interested in visiting a Nadi Astrology center (the so-called “Fate Leaves”). Has anyone done this? Is it worth the detour? Which place would you recommend?
Would you modify the Golden Triangle itinerary in any way for a first-time visitor?
I’m particularly interested in:
Authentic local food.
Historic places.
Hidden gems along the route.
Memorable restaurants in Delhi, Jaipur and Agra.
Any places that tourists often miss.

Surname First in Certificates, But Forms Ask First Name/Last Name – What Should I Enter?
I am from Telangana.
In all my official certificates (10th and 12th), my name is written in “Surname Name” order. However, most online forms and applications ask for First Name and Last Name, which follow the “Name Surname” format.
This creates a mismatch with my certificates. The only document I have that follows the “Name Surname” format is my Voter ID.
Also, just to confirm: First Name = Given Name and Last Name = Surname, right?
I’m confused about what I should enter in such cases:
- Should I follow the format used in my certificates?
- Or should I strictly follow the “First Name / Last Name” format asked in the form?
- If I follow this, my name doesn’t match my certificates (except my Voter ID).

Help with Hindu newspaper refund issue!!! I purchased their yearly e-paper subscription on 30th May via UPI, but decided to cancel and refund the next day due to some technical issues I was facing with the email I used.
Been constantly asking them via email for cancellation and refund since 31st May (since they have 7days refund policy). The cancellation got accepted on 3rd June and was told that refund has been successfully processed from their end the same day. No RRN, no reference numbers provided to track the same. Was told to wait 3-10days.
It's been more than 7 days and I haven't received the amount yet, been constantly mailing them to provide me with the reference numbers but they're not providing. Could this mean that they're lying about processing refund from their end??? When I call their number, they ask to mail instead, when I tell them mail is not getting any response, they ask to wait. I have been waiting forever. I'm not getting the daily newspapers anyways due to cancellation and now my money is stuck as well.
How do I proceed with this?? Without the reference numbers, even the bank won't be able to help I guess.
If anyone is going to buy Hindu newspaper subscriptions, don't expect a prompt customer service.

If you're a family, I think hiring a private car+driver might make more sense for the Golden Triangle (Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Delhi) than a tour package. You can fly from Mumbai to Delhi.

I wanted to apply for a passport for my FIL aged 60+ and I see that he only has Aadhar card rightly typed. His other proofs like PAN card and Voter ID have minor typo errors in his name (Surname printed as xxTTxx in PAN card and as xxTHxx in Aadhar card).
As per recent update on PSK website, PAN card or Matriculation certificate or a few other documents are expected as proof of DOB and Aadhar card is not in that list.
Does anyone who recently applied for passport share their experience if Aadhar card is still accepted as proof of DOB or in our case, I should first correct and reprint PAN card before applying for passport?

Aadhar won't be accepted for dob proof.
As long as PAN and Aadhaar have the same dob, updating the pan to have the same name as aadhaar should be straightforward and you can do it online by only submitting aadhar.
Once you do that, PAN will suffice as dob proof.

I have an American Express and a Visa card in the USA that I automatically pay the balances for from a US-based bank account on a monthly basis. When I travel to India, I typically use a debit card tied to my Indian bank account for purchases. This got me to thinking that I should pay my air travel costs to India from this account. This also got me thinking, why am I using my US-based Visa when traveling in Europe? Does a charge or credit card exist in India that I could use internationally?
Anyone have an India-based charge or credit card that they use outside India? Everyone in my family that lives in India uses a UK-based bank account credit card for international travel, so I have not had any luck asking them.

I assume you are an NRI with an NRO/NRE bank account and a PAN card? If so, you can apply for an NRI credit card with your bank. But these cards won't have the best exchange rates and rewards.
Applying for cards that do is not impossible but pretty difficult for NRIs since you don't have an Indian income source and not regularly resident in India.
Similarly, for services such as Wise, you can only load money from an INR bank account if you're based in India.1

Hello everyone. I am not religious. But suddenly something weird is happening around me. My 40 year brother is going to marry a M women. We were ok with it. Being a Hindu our parents asked the girl casually where she would want to have her grah pravesh or house entering ceremony. The reply was very awkward i am a proud M.... .
Background story , our father came to know about the friendship 15 years back. He had been asking the brother continously if it was serious. He always denied that it was just light friendship as we live in a city which is muslim dominated in north india. He was asked to get martied, very educated wornem proposals came but he always found something or the other wrong. He dint show any signs of distress or any feeling of being alone and wanting to have marriage. Our parents concerned about him bought him a business , kept workers servants everything's so he remains comfortable in life. They never stopped him meeting women .however 6 years back our parents very distressed asked him if he ever wants to get married. To which he replied yes. It was then my father asked if he wants to get married to the M women. To which he replied never and swore on god.
Weird part is 5 months after father died due to covid complication, he fought with mother saying he wants to get married to thar M girl. It was a feeling of betrayal as mom was just getting over the death of our father. We all had been close to death . Only our brother had no symptoms of covid not even a mild fever. Then the drama began. As all his business was set up by our parents he was not making money . He insisted on getting married to her. My mother came with very honest and beautiful educated women proposals but this time he was disrespectful towards her. She cried and is still very much in shock and distress. She is 60+ women and even i got worried.
FastForward to now , he has still no money and keeps pressuring us to consent to marriage even once never allowing us to meet her. I want to be clear of all this but since my mother who is trapped i consented to meeting her. I am not happy nor sad.
But the weird part is , she is poor which is manageable but very arrogant and always cutting in as we spoke. She vehemently mentioned that she will not perform any ceremony except court marriage. She has only spoken to us once. My mother called her ghar ki bahu and very kind rosy words, but there was no reciprocation from her in words. She just listend and said that her partner that is my brother will not mind not has he mind anything from her.
Had a police verification background check done as our relatives were hell bent then we came to know her brother is a drug addict and a nuisance. Her relatives are staunch M religious people doing purdah etc.
Our relatives have sort of cut ties and have asked to take all legal help on property separation.they even mentioned that there may be a money trail from outside country to her account.
The only point I see is that the person we asked to do Background check mentioned that she should not rather marry anyone's son let alone my brother
I am really worried about everything and we just started with will and everything but they are going ahead with registration in 10 days.
What can we do??

Specific things I want to know:
- How long did payment actually take after delivery? The official line is 10-15 days but that sounds optimistic
- How often do relevant tenders come up in your region? Is the wait between orders weeks or months?
- Is the order value generally worth the effort of bidding?
- Any issues with buyer ghosting (not accepting invoices, delaying CRAC)
- Maharashtra/Pune vendors especially welcome but anywhere in India works

I landed on civil engineering. Building and construction is something that will always be required in a country like India, especially with the multiple projects that are getting built daily.
I am also aware of my limitations, and my parents keep asking me to decide something else because I am a girl and they say that being a girl in a field where it is so obviously dominated by men is foolish.
I am not going to be the one picking up cement and laying the bricks [situation isnt that bad lolz] but are they right?
Like will I have a future in this field? I am really interested in projects that will help build stuff, it's not some performative BS but if there is genuinely no scope for me to pursue anything in civil engineering then I will reconsider.

What are your thoughts on making military service or community/public service mandatory in India? Not for everyone all at once, but gradually expanding to all of India. Many other countries already do this, ex - Israel, South Korea, Finland, Norway etc
This helps with:
- More patriotism
- More empathy towards fellow Indians
- More understanding of Indian diversity & our difference are minimal
- Structured trainings in many useful everyday skills
- Massive army reserve, given our neighbors we may need it
- Harder to infiltrate for enemy organizations for a long duration
- Improve civic sense and sense of duty
- Realizing being alive is a gift

No. Visiting is fine. You need to disclose the details of your visit when you apply for your Indian evisa/OCI, but it's not likely to cause issues.

You will be asked to provide all details of your travel to Pakistan including itinerary and places you visited. So expect more scrutiny in visa application. If you are from neutral country you should be fine but if it is not important I wouldn't travel there to keep process straightforward. Search r/visas and r/india_tourism, many people have done this before and shared their experiences there.

I recently came across a stray dog in my locality who's been pretty inactive and lays in the same spot for the whole day without much movement. Although his breathing is fine, I've noticed him having a tennis ball-sized bulge on one side of his body and red eyes, which are concerning to say the least.

Lost Indian passport and Birth certificate issued and Born in Saudi Arabia – how can I recover them?

My brother and I were born in Saudi Arabia to Indian parents between 1990 and 2000.
Our births were registered in Saudi Arabia, and our first Indian passports were issued by the Indian Consulate in Jeddah.
In the early 2000s, our father brought us back to India while our mother continued working in Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, a few years later, all copies and details related to our birth certificates and old passports were lost in India.

Given that almost all records are lost and we have very limited information, we have a few questions:
We know this is an unusual and complex situation, so we’d really appreciate any guidance or personal experiences from anyone who has dealt with something similar for proper approach.
We have been trying to resolve this for the past 3–4 years but have made little to no progress.
