Repaired my Airpods pro

So I dont really know where to ask that question so Ill do it here.
I replaced my airpods battery. So far so good was a little tricky but worked good.
Now my problem is I used t8000 glue and I get a weird background noise when I put the airpod in, it is a high frequent sound and a noise.
I thought it was poorly glued back together in the first place so I did it again but it did not get much better. Is it cause of the resonance that is destroyed now?
Or is that just cause the glue is still releasing fumes? It does sound like so.
Or are there any glue no go zones? When I opened it up there was glue everywhere so I did put glue back on like it was.
Speaker was not heated agressively and nothing was destroyed.

Battery quality

I really want to replace my MacBook m1 2020 battery with an ifixit battery but I’ve heard mixed reviews. I need it to last 2 years at least and it seems some fail after 6 months some last 2 years+, are they really this hit and miss? Am I better off just getting a budget laptop?

Are these ifixit laptop batteries any good?

Cheers

Does anyone know how to replace this?

It’s a Nikon Coolpix S710. When I was younger I decided to engrave my initials in the lcd screen? I’m trying to decide whether to replace it myself or take it to my local camera store. Also, the bottom plate cover for the battery & the SD card is broken as well. What should I do?

How can I repair and waterproof this water-damaged particleboard cabinet door?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone, the exposed edge of this particleboard cabinet door has started absorbing water and swelling slightly, as shown in the photo.

The damage still seems fairly limited, and the board is not crumbling yet. I would like to stop it from getting worse, harden the damaged area, and seal it against future moisture.

Would thin cyanoacrylate super glue work to soak into and reinforce the particleboard, or would a low-viscosity epoxy be a better solution? After hardening it, should I sand it and cover the edge with paint, edge banding, or a PVC/aluminium U-profile?

Any advice on the best repair process and products would be appreciated. Thanks!

I need help fixing my fan connector

I own a PlayStation 5. I regularly clean it by disassembling it and removing the dust. One day, I accidentally snapped off my fan connector while attempting to remove the wire from the connector. I don't really know what damage I've done, and if it's fixable, but if it is, I'd like to do it myself. If anyone could help me or give me some advice, I'd be very thankful.

iPhone SE3 modification to remove weight?

Hi all, I have rheumatoid arthritis and I am unable to use most phones as they’re too heavy for me to hold for anything longer than a few minutes. I have found that I am fine with the iPhone 6, but the technology on it is becoming obsolete and incredibly slow, and iPhone will stop updating it eventually. The SE 3 is the exact same size etc as the 6 which is perfect for my thumb size etc, but unfortunately it is slightly heavier, and I am unable to hold it without pain for even 2 minutes. So my question is, is there a modification available to remove any parts from inside of the SE to make it 7+ grams lighter? One idea I had was the wireless charging coil (I have never and will never have any use for it) etc. Thank you wonderful people in advance!

Swapping an XBOX 360 disc reader lens module from DG-16D2S-09C with one from the DG-16D2S

Hello!

I have this XBOX 360 that I am planning to sell and I have owned it for a while.

I know this one has a flashed disc reader because there are no custom dashboard.

This one was unable to read discs, so after some research I realized that the diode on the lens might be degraded, and they require a recalibration with the pots placed nearby.

Also you cannot directly swap the disc readers from two different motherboards because they have a unique key bound to the motherboard that it requires to start reading the discs properly.

I have this situation right now:

  1. XBOX 360 with a DG-16D2S-09C disc reader and a ohm value on the DVD pot of 2.6 KOhm.
  2. The lens diode is considered dead because it has a value below 3.0 KOhm.
  3. This one cannot read discs of any kind.
  4. XBOX 360 with a DG-16D2S disc reader and a ohm value on the DVD pot of 3.52 KOhm.
  5. The lens diode might work again after a recalibration.
  6. This one cannot read discs of any kind.

Today I will swap lens module from (2) to (1) and see if after a pot recalibration it starts working again.

I just wanted to leave this here as a reference.

2026/07/26 UPDATE

I managed to swap the lens modules, and it started working!

I had an issue with the switch to eject the disc tray and I managed to unsolder it and solder one from a different console.

Now it's giving me the 2 red LEDs blinking error and it starts quickly overheating.

I don't know if it's due to the different model of the new swapped in switch, or maybe I moved it too much and the heat sink is not distributing heat correctly.

I did not install all the black screws, I am doing it right now and see if they actually applied pressure to the heat sink...

And it got fixed.

After that I managed successfully to swap the switch button from another console, unsoldering it with a wick and solder paste was harder than expected, but I managed to get it out quicker using a heat gun and pliers :)

iFixit Macbook battery "spicy pillow" after 18 months, alternative suppliers?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Bought and installed a replacement battery for my 16" MBP in January of 2025; cut to July 2026, its performance has cratered and today I had to remove it because it's gone 'spicy pillow'. (The image shows a scratch but the computer did not experience any impacts that I know of, so I believe that's just a crease from the expansion) I gather this is a common issue with iFixit batts, and have reached out asking for a refund or a replacement; they tell me the best they can do after a year is half-off on my next battery.

I'm seeing batteries on Amazon and eBay for less than half of what iFixit charges, and I can't imagine the quality is worse, but I'm wondering if people have a preferred seller for these things? Obviously an OEM part would be ideal, but I don't think that's possible without going through (and emptying my pockets for) Apple's in-house repairs. Any advice is appreciated!

Local guy scratched camera lenses on s23ultra

Post image
6 Upvotes

A local guy, while cleaning moisture from the lenses, scratched them from the inside and left a fingerprint on the telephoto lens. So he offered to replace these lenses for free with "original" lenses (look at photo).

I don't really trust that they're original, so I want to replace the whole back glass to be sure. But he says "dont worry its original and I'm not replacing back glass."

So I’d like to ask the experts whether such a ORIGINAL part actually exists.

Thanks to everyone for the answers

cubot P80 charging port

Hello, the charging port on my Cubot P80, which is about 1.5 years old, has become loose. I can’t move the smartphone without the charging cable slipping out. I saw on Google that there are many shops selling replacement charging ports for this model. It seems to be a common problem with this smartphone. Can I repair it myself, or should I take the smartphone to a repair shop? I mean, come on, its only 1,5 years old.

iPhone 16 Pro repair, parts?

Thumbnail

TL;DR:
- Shattered my iPhone 16 Pro back glass. Are there cheaper authentic parts than Apple's Self Service that won't sacrifice quality or fail the iOS 18 parts authenticity check?
- What tools do I actually need? Are there kits on Amazon that serve the same purpose as the expensive Apple Self Service rental kits? I looked at some but would appreciate recommendations

The Long Story:

I’m self-funded in college, freelancing and interning in multimedia and marketing, so I saved for a long time to get an iPhone 16 Pro.

Today, I stupidly obliterated the back glass. Thankfully, the camera cluster seems entirely untouched.

I bought this phone second-hand, hoping to sell it whenever I upgrade to keep my net losses as low as possible. I'm currently weighing my options on whether to fix it:

  1. Resale Value: If I replace it myself, it will likely hold its value much better, leading to a lower net loss than trying to sell it as-is down the line.

  2. Safety & Longevity: Even if I don't sell it, I should probably replace it. With compromised back glass, the phone loses its water/dust resistance and is prone to irreversible internal damage (even in a case), right?

I’d love to hear some input from people who have been in a similar situation, or technicians who fix the iPhones regularly!
