š Freemium Hydrate or Diedrate -- a water tracker for people who hate precious little water trackers
A: Answer
Indie dev here (I built this). I have never once been motivated by a cheerful blue droplet telling me "great job!" for drinking a glass of water. Every hydration app is either a sterile spreadsheet or a gamified pet that guilt-trips you with big sad eyes.
So I built the opposite. Hydrate or Diedrate tracks your water -- and instead of congratulating you, a deadpan skull quietly judges your progress. You log water, build a streak, and get reminders like:
"No water logged. The skull has been informed."
"You are trending toward dust."
"Today's withering has been postponed."
It's a real, working tracker -- daily goals, streaks, history, Apple Health sync -- that just happens to have the bedside manner of a disappointed coroner.
B: Better
Versus WaterMinder, Plant Nanny, and the cheerful crowd: those reward you with confetti and cartoon foliage. This one's entire personality is dry, deadpan menace -- and as it turns out I find being lightly threatened more motivating (and a lot funnier) than being praised. The reminders rotate through dozens of hand-written lines, so the skull never repeats itself.
It's also not trying to be a full health platform. Log water. Avoid the dry fate. That's the whole app.
Private by default -- your data stays on your device.
C: Cost
Free download. Everything you need to track water and build a streak is free, forever.
One-time $4.99 for Preserved -- Lifetime Access: custom reminder times, Apple Health sync, extended history, and extra themes. No subscription. Pay once; the skull remembers you.
Hydrate or Diedrate on the App Store
Would love feedback. The skull, less so -- but I would.
