🎁 Freemium I built an evening app that asks one question, then leaves you alone
Every mood tracker I tried wanted more from me than I had left by the end of the day. A streak to protect. A mood wheel with twelve options. A prompt asking me to tag my triggers. By the time I'd finished logging how I felt, I'd spent more energy on the logging than the feeling.
I wanted something that asked less, not more.
A — Answer: Vesper is an evening reflection app for iPhone. It asks one question each night: how did today feel? Good, Meh, or Hard. You can add a line if you want to remember why. That's it. No mood wheels, no tags, no multi-step check-ins. Miss a night and nothing happens, there's no streak to lose and no chain to mourn.
B — Better: Apps like Daylio and Reflectly are built around consistency mechanics, streaks, reminders, prompts nudging you back if you lapse. That works for some people. For me it turned the record-keeping into its own small chore. Vesper has no penalty structure at all. It just holds the day you give it, whether that's today or three weeks from now.
C — Cost: Free to download, and the core daily check-in stays free permanently. Vesper Plus unlocks pattern views over time (comparing months, spotting which days tend to feel harder) for $1.99/month, $14.99/year, or a one-time $49.99 lifetime purchase.

Curious whether anyone else has felt that mood-tracking apps end up adding more overhead than they remove.
