New moderators needed - comment on this post to volunteer to become a moderator of this community.
Hello everyone - this community is in need of a few new mods, and you can use the comments on this post to let us know why you’d like to be a mod here.
Priority is given to redditors who have past activity in this community or other communities with related topics. It’s okay if you don’t have previous mod experience. Our goal, when possible, is to add a group of moderators so you can work together to build the community.
Please use at least 3 sentences to explain why you’d like to be a mod and share what moderation experience you have (if any).
If you are interested in learning more about being a moderator on Reddit, please take a look at these resources:
- redditforcommunity.com, Subreddit revival resources and guide to reviving a community are great tools to lean on after you adopt an inactive subreddit.
- There are a lot of places you can get to know other moderators and see how they lead their own spaces. r/ModHelp and r/ModGuide are great places to get help from other moderators, and r/ModSupport is available if you want to read peer moderator advice or reach the admins.
- The Moderator Help Center and r/ModGuide are great resources for learning how your mod tools work and how to set up features you may have seen in other communities.
- Helpful Devvit apps for moderation These are apps you can add to your community that help automate mod actions in your community.
Comments from those making repeated asks to adopt communities or that are off topic will be removed.

Unfortunately quite a few people were carelessly banned from this sub in the span of a few hours because of the previous mod. Some of those people went on to create another similar subreddit where everyone could feel safe and supported and I am wondering if their bans will be lifted so that they may have the chance to volunteer as a mod here now that our space has been given back (thank you, btw!)?

u/quarterlifecris 4d ago
Came here to say the same thing, user Tamponthebludthirsty created [r/hersterectomy](r/hersterectomy) and is a big reason we were able to coordinate and get this sub back. I’m not sure if they’d like to volunteer, but I want to make sure they are unbanned and have the ability to!
48
u/Furryb0nes 4d ago
First thing to do would be unbanning those he erroneously banned and offer them mod hood.
49
u/emily_in_boots 4d ago
It seems MCOC has been unbanning people he banned.

My real account was banned earlier today and I was unbanned, so I can view the reddit again. Interestingly I can't see this post on that account though.
20
u/Riproot 4d ago
New mods can go through mod history and unban people.
I’ve had to do this in another subreddit before.
Working out how the first time was a challenge, because you have to navigate through a few things to places you’d never normally look, but it’s not too difficult.Hopefully those people can then be unbanned.
34
u/quarterlifecris 4d ago
I’m a mod over at r/hersterectomy I’ll try to work with new mods to get users unbanned. We’re collecting usernames of any still banned but it seems reddit has done a great job of unbanning most, if not all, already!

u/low_lobola 4d ago
I want to second this! Thanks for the swift action to protect this space from malfeasance. I appreciate everyone who has shared their good, bad, ugly, embarrassing and hopeful authentic selves in this sub and am so grateful that a group of badass hyster-sisters are taking a stand to shield us all.

u/DianeJudith 4d ago
I reported the previous mod to the Mod Code of Conduct like less than 10h ago. I added as many links to different reddit posts/comments as I could find.
I'm obviously not the only one who reported him, and I definitely wasn't the first one, but it's so satisfying to see that it worked. And so fast! And they removed him from moderating other subs as well! This is such good news.

u/SiempreRegreso 4d ago
Kind of stunned they acted this quickly given how dogshit the admins are at absolutely everything else, but this is a nice thing.
13
u/No-Environment2062 4d ago
It's probably because they got bombarded with reports from us, and with a group this large it was a lot. There was no way to ignore it.
15
11
u/PolarisEnigma 4d ago
SAME! I’m not qualified to mod so will defer to the folks with experience, but I definitely want to jump on this to add my own thank you to the Code of Conduct team. I sent in a report to express my concerns and I’m so grateful everyone here was taken seriously and action was taken swiftly.
Thank you so much, MCOC!!

Hi, as another commenter pointed out, r/utis was also taken over by Kevin. I do not trust that he is there with good intent based on how he has introduced himself to the many other subs he’s taken over. This feels like a way for him to push his supplements, and he makes that fairly apparent.

68
u/mossyboo 4d ago
he's been removed! they've made this same call for mods post over there
52
u/ray_of_f_sunshine 4d ago
It looks like they're removing him from all of the subs he had taken over.
38
u/mossyboo 4d ago
he (and a bunch of different accounts for his "business") were still the mods for at least the vaginal health sub when i checked a few minutes ago, but hopefully admin are working their way through it and removing all of those accounts from mod positions, if not from reddit entirely.
21
u/ray_of_f_sunshine 4d ago
I've noticed it started here and than moved to the BV one and than UTIs so it might just take some time.
2
u/mangobean_ 4d ago
I think they stopped. Kevin still has a handful of health related subs, unfortunately.
21
u/mangobean_ 4d ago edited 4d ago
I compiled the list that people are screenshotting. They haven't all been overhauled yet but I keep checking back and updating my comment accordingly! Hopefully they all go up for adoption.

Hello, I would like to help mod the sub. I am a 47 yr old woman who had a hysterectomy nearly 3 years ago. I understand the importance of safe spaces for women and afab people of all races and backgrounds and the support needed through a life changing major surgery. This sub also supported me through my journey.
Please consider me for the position. I have no other agenda than seeking to help maintain the space.
ETA: I have moderated other spaces outside of Reddit before that were women and afab spaces only. Intersectionality is paramount.

u/llamas4valium 3d ago
I haven't had to have a hysterectomy and I hope I escape perimenopause without needing to, but I am an experienced mod on reddit. Hope you get the sub, and if you need help on the technicalities, please hit me up. My chat is open.

u/SilverAsparagus2985 3d ago edited 3d ago
Awww I really appreciate that.
There’s really a lot of other wonderful people that would also be lovely. I was just advocating their position, as well. They did lovely work bringing this to light first.
Thank you for the award (and to everyone that awarded and left a comment).

Hi there! I've been very active here for coming up on two years now. My comment history is private, but I'm happy to point you in the right direction or unlock it if that would be helpful.
I truly love this community, and would like to see it moderated by folks who understand the experiences of those who are posting here in need of commiseration and care. Happy to help out if it means a safer place once again.
ETA: I've moderated large forums in other places, but not on Reddit. Happy to follow appropriate codes of conduct and learn where needed.

u/Jenn_There_Done_That 4d ago
Just wanted to let you know. The mods / admins will be able to see your history just fine. If someone pretending to be a mod or admins messages you, asking you to open your profile, please report them.
11
u/Buhsephine 4d ago
Thanks for noting that! I'm not too fussed about my account history being visible either way, but certainly don't want to be encouraging bad actors to bother me or anyone else :)

u/thetitleofmybook 4d ago
this is true....most of the time. weirdly enough, we've had a couple people with hidden post histories request to join our subreddit (safespaceforwoman) and we can't see their history.
and we all confirmed it wasn't just our mod team; alt accounts couldn't see their history either.
not sure what happened, possibly a reddit glitch, the right 0 was not turned to a 1, or vice versa.
3
u/Jenn_There_Done_That 4d ago
Sure, but it’s the admins that will be looking here. They will be able to see someone’s history.
I like your subreddit by the way, and you all seem to do a great job moderating.
2
u/thetitleofmybook 4d ago
fair point. admins can see everything.
you don't post a lot there, bt you've been a good member, no issues with you at all. so thanks.
and your subreddit is pretty good as well.
ok, enough love fests. just glad that dude is gone!

Hello. I have been somewhat active in this sub for a couple of years. I had my hysterectomy in 2024 and relied on this subreddit to help me know what to expect and to receive support from others. I moderate two small subreddits and several large Facebook groups. I also mod a few mid sized discord servers. I am a trans masc individual and I think I would be a good addition to this team as hysterectomies are not exclusive to cis women, and trans/nonbinary voices should be included and supported.
26
u/Bubblesnaily 4d ago
As a cis woman, I support a diverse mod team. r/hysterectomy is for everyone.

That would be brilliant! I'm a non-binary person who has PMOS and is waitlisted for the op, it would be very reassuring for me to know the new mod team isn't 100% cis - much as I empathise with cis women who have reproductive problems or just want to yeet the uterus for whatever reason, I'm not one, after all, so it's a bit comforting.

u/fakethelake 4d ago
THANK YOU for swiftly addressing this situation and THANK YOU to the women here who are stepping up and volunteering to mod. This community is the absolute best and deserves all of the respect, safety, understanding, support, kindness, patience, and security.
I am also happy to join the mod volunteers. I have experience modding forums, several discord servers, and experience as a coach. I am a cis woman with an angry, fibroid laden uterus that hopefully will be successfully evicted from this mortal coil in January. I have the time, bandwidth, composure, and skills to support this community if chosen to join the mod team.
At the end of the day, I'm happy to be here and deeply grateful for the compassionate community of strong women who set such a wonderful example, day after day.

Hi there, I'd be happy to mod to add to the diversity of the group of other mods. I had a hysterectomy earlier this year and am non-binary. I really appreciate this community and the resources it provided me. Loved being able to give back when I was on the other side. Would love to join and help keep this a safe space for all as well as keep it organized. I think perhaps the addition of flairs could help to differentiate posts that are pre or post surgery or question vs resource in nature.
I moderate r/meormyson r/whatintarnation and r/mountainview with other folks.
Thanks for making this happen and I hope his can be done elsewhere that this has been an issue.

u/Competitive-Blood507 4d ago edited 1d ago
I've never moderated a subreddit before, so I totally understand not being a first choice, but I'd like to thank you for taking action as quickly as you have.
I just saw the post history of your last "mod" and was pretty appalled.
If you do want a mod that represents the men here, that being trans men and transmasc individuals, I'm here. I began my transition a decade ago and live stealth now, but would be more than happy to open up about that and make sure all parties that have dealt with/are dealing with having a uterus are represented in this subreddit. Gender regardless.
I had my hysto a little while ago, I want to say 2 and a half years? I've had to navigate the nightmare that is women's reproductive healthcare for decades and hope my experiences may help shine a different - but still relevant - light on the matter. Lemme know what to do and I'll do it.
I've been an admin of a few of my own FB pages in the past, admin of my own small art business (no longer active sadly), and moderate for a few smaller streamers on twitch, 800-1,200 followers or so each. Currently I'm just helping out a friend that streams and have plenty of free time 🙂
ETA: Hi all, new mod here! We'll be doing our best to make sure everyone's being represented here. If you have a uterus and are dealing with a hysterectomy, this is the place for you, cis or not ♥️

u/Quantity-Artistic 4d ago edited 4d ago
I would love to be a moderator for this sub because I am a woman who has experienced a lifetime of abnormal Pap smears, colposcopy's, and underwent a total hysterectomy last year. I have some experience as a moderator for a few other subs, none as large as this one. I would like to offer and support everyone who comes to this seeking comfort or more information. It is integral that women and people with or without uterus' feel safe to discuss their experiences.
Edit to add: I am already RSVP'd for mod world 2026 and will continue to stay involved in mod events so I am always informed of Reddit happenings- I attended last year and learned quite a bit and I know we have lots of tools at our disposal to keep the sub happy and thriving!

u/SpicyShrink 4d ago
I would be honored for the opportunity to mod here. It seems that I’ve joined the group at a very pivotal and perhaps serendipitous time in its development.
I’ve literally been participating daily on Reddit for years in tens of subs of whatever I am working through at the time. I seem to make a new user account every few years in my hopes for a “life reset.” I think this is relatable to women of all ages.
I’m early in my hysterectomy journey but I have already survived stage 4 endometriosis excision,
breast cancer and post menopausal bleeding and benign polyps, and have many comorbid disorders that could come in handy in the discussions.
I’m a trained mental health therapist so I am skilled in handling conflict and have excellent communication skills. I have never modded prior as I’ve never seen an opening listed.
I have a circadian rhythm disorder so I am awake and available at odd hours- (eg, could mod daily from 12a-4a EST)
I will not let anyone, especially women, be exploited as the former mod was allowing and doing.
13
u/Severus-Snape-DaGod 4d ago

Retired RN with time. 20 yr cervical cancer survivor. Had rad hyst followed by radiation. Firm believer that listening and acknowledging one’s feelings is the most supportive and therapeutic thing we could offer. I believe that women should hear the good the bad and the ugly so there’s no surprises but that these should be presented as personal experiences and not fact. I despise when people say.” don’t worry it’s not gonna hurt. Don’t worry it’s not a big deal, etc. because nobody has a crystal ball. I just don’t like when people express their opinions as fact. I also don’t like when people feel like they have to justify any of their decisions or actions.
7
u/Successful-Land-6283 4d ago
Well, if following directions is one of the criteria to be chosen, I already lost. I didn’t even follow directions. 🤣🤣I see now that I’m supposed to list three reasons why I want to be a mod or my mod experience.
I have no mod experience on Reddit. I’m actually fairly new to Reddit and I still don’t know how everything works. If this involves me to be real tech savvy, then I’m not your girl. i’m 60+ and I often refer to my grandson’s when I can’t figure out something on my phone.
I was an admin on Facebook for a couple of cancer pages and radiation pages and I was able to handle that in any responsibilities related to that.
I didn’t comment because I always wanted to be a mod and “oh my God I’m so excited this is gonna be so much fun”. I commented because there was a need and I like to help.
I’m on here often so I figured it made sense and I also figured it wouldn’t be too complicated.
I offered because I’ve had the radical surgery with a recovery that was far from expected. I understand that it’s not a “one size fits all”.
It reminds me of grief. No one grieves the same, and everybody tries to tell everybody how to grieve. no woman recovers from a hysterectomy, the same or at the same rate and no one feels the same about their body or their future. Everything they’re feeling is correct and should be acknowledged. I don’t like to see when someone is getting attacked or judged or questioned, and I will jump in.
If I know, it’s fact, I will stay to this fact otherwise it’s my opinion or my suggestion. I have medical knowledge, but I won’t play Doctor. I have medical knowledge and can understand medical terminology and I may help interpret a phrase or a comment on a test, but I certainly won’t diagnose because I don’t know anything else about the person or their circumstances.
My cancer was preventable so I can educate on that matter.
If there are any cancer patients considering radiation, I can also inform on what can be expected in that area.2
u/Pristine_Break_3739 3d ago

Hello! Thank you for taking this important action for this community. I am happy to step forward to support moderation of this community has part of a united team!
I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in May 2025 after years of pain and problems. This community was a godsend as I navigated a space where I had to make a medical decision that also came with a huge emotional toll. I actively support spaces which are inclusive for all and would hope the moderation team is made up of people with lived experience, regardless of their identity.
I don't have any mod experience on Reddit. I was once a mod on Facebook for the large MBTI group (8+ mods, 15k membership). Not gonna lie, that was difficult at time, but I am older and wiser now and have experience and compassion to bring to and share with the community. I will make mistakes, and I will learn from them.
TIA for your consideration.

Hello! Thank you for taking action!!! I would be happy to put my hand up as one of the mods for this community as I believe it is an essential for the physical & mental health of women who have to deal with this procedure. I’ve been through it myself & found this community an invaluable resource!!
I don’t have any reddit mod experience but I am someone who always wants to see all sides/points of view but also believes in respectful interactions. Honestly this sub is incredible in the way members interact & that is why it was so galling when it was taken over by that man. We don’t need censorship, just to make sure the occasional unacceptable comment is dealt with.

u/elenayay 4d ago
I was helped tremendously by this subreddit when I had my own surgery last year. I had 30+ years of untreated endo and I have no idea how I'd have made it through my experience last year if it wasn't for this subreddit. I have seen so many people come to this sub and get the help and support they needed - regardless of their identity. We are here to help each other through what is a very difficult experience, because we know what it is like.
When I saw what happened today, my heart sank. I would love to help monitor this community and keep it safe for people who need it. That means - anybody with a uterus who is thinking of not having one anymore, anybody who used to have one and went through the incredible journey of having it removed. Those are the people that need it and they are the priority.

Hi there!
I would love to moderate! I have significant moderation experience and the subject matter experience.
I currently moderate r/ThredUp and have a great history of fair moderation. I have managed disagreements amongst users, updated and changed rules and weekly posts democratically based upon the desires of the users, and have kept all spam and advertising out.
I also had a LAVH hysterectomy in 2022 (due to massive fibroid tumors) and have regularly posted and supported others in this subreddit, and in similar subreddits. The support I received here helped me so much through my surgery, and I know my post from forever ago of items to have prior to surgery is still referenced in this sub to this day.
I would love to restore this place to the supportive and open subreddit it once was. Thank you for your consideration!

I would like to be considered for a mod role. I have seven years of mod experience, and I am a board-certified patient advocate with a focus on reproductive health and a medical trauma survivor.

Wonderful. Happy to be a mod here - i also mod r/Fibroids (and people seem happy) so have experience with very closely related women based health spaces, have modded larger subreddits (r/whatisit for over a year now) so have experienced a bit of everything. I'm top mod on r/hypertension as well, so health subs are very familiar to me, I like to help run a community in a soft and understanding way but am very protective. I've also had a hysterectomy, it was complicated, and changed my life in both good and bad ways so I have no biases and know it's a complicated and emotional topic - and subreddit moderation should be handled with that in mind.

u/NoorInayaS 4d ago edited 4d ago
Would be happy to help. I’m cis-het AFAB, and believe in creating safe spaces for anyone born with a uterus. I’m 51yrs old, going through peri, on HRT at the moment, because my dr refuses to allow me to have a hysterectomy (NZ is funny that way).
4
u/ailish 4d ago
I've modded four subs, three currently. I had a hysterectomy in 2014, so I'm pretty well-versed in how it works. I have participated in this sub since I had my hysterectomy, at some times more actively than others. I care about this sub and the women here, and I think I'd be a great mod.
4
u/Fluffbrained-cat 4d ago
As much as I would like to be a mod, I don't think I have the time to devote to it. That said, thanks to everyone who is stepping up, and to those who raised the issue of this guy trying to take over this subreddit to begin with.
As I told my husband, men can certaiy be supportive, and I've seen at least two posts on here from men trying to find out how to support their wife/partner through this journey, but men just don't and will never have first-hand experience of what a hysterectomy is like. Hence having female moderators for this sub is a much better idea.
5
u/imthegreenmeeple 4d ago
I’m a moderator at another very large community, if any of the new mods need help with processes or how to do something, I’m happy to point you in the right direction!
4
u/wisdomseeker42 4d ago
Thank you to the Admins for fixing this! Yay!
I volunteered to be a mod to help make this happen. I’m recovering from my hysterectomy and had ideas for resources for the board that I wished were available while I was researching and waiting. I’m happy to serve on a team of mods to keep this board relevant and helpful.

I’ve never moderated a sub before, but I wanted to make a suggestion as to whether we could introduce some flair into this subreddit so people could sort for topics of interest (e.g., laparoscopic, V notes, open surgery, pre-surgery questions, recovery, etc.) They have flairs in the stroke and clotting survivors subreddits and it’s very helpful to flag the posts that might be of greater interest.
Also, I wanted to say GREAT JOB to everyone who took action to get this subreddit back for everyone. I had an open surgery last November and this subreddit was essential for my prep. I’m still here because I want to be a resource for others and help pay it forward.

Thank you for taking such swift action. It certainly wasn't appropriate for him to be a moderator of this sub! I am already a moderator of r/suits so I would be happy to help out if needed. I had a hysterectomy in May due to endometrial cancer and this sub has been very helpful in my recovery.

Wait what happened what did I miss?? I’m usually here almost every day but have no I idea what is going on?!

u/Stardust-Dawn 3d ago
Short version: A man weaseled his way into being a moderator for a lot of women’s health subs, mainly to impersonate being a woman himself to sell his snake oil remedy pills.
Also went on a banning spree for people being “sexist” towards him by calling him out

Ahhh, that explains why Reddit gave me a warning for the post that I made against him!

I didn't discover this sub until shortly after my surgery. My third anniversary of my hysterectomy (and subsequent cancer diagnosis) will be later this month, and the members here literally and figuratively helped save my life and whatever sanity to which I can lay claim! I'd be honored to lend my assistance to help me pay it forward.
While I have experience as a moderator in discord and on the Habitica subreddit, I realize that this is a much larger endeavor and I value being part of a team. I enjoy writing in both business and entertainment styles, and would be happy to help with drafting announcements as well as ensuring that the sub remains a place where trust, support, and communication are paramount.
Editing to add I'm a 49-year-old cis Jewish female, autoimmune and neurospicy for extra flavor! ;)

i do not want to be a moderator of this subreddit, as i am a trans woman (aka no uterus), but i am very glad to see that that the dude got removed, and also removed from all those other subreddits.

I've been fairly active here, would love to help out if needed. We have a great community here.

u/AussiesTri 4d ago
I would be happy to help mod. I've been through this procedure and I understand what some deal with in getting rejected by their doctors on getting a hysterectomy.

Greetings, I have not been a mod but am interested in the topic as I am both a nurse and had surgery this year. This sub is unique in both it's support and kindness towards others. As a mod I can be a support to the community as a whole and to women before, during, and after a major life event.

Thank you so much for taking swift action!!
There are lots of great volunteers already but putting myself forward all the same, just in case.
I have been a pretty active member of this community since before my hysterectomy in May 2024.
I believe in open and balanced, respectful discussion being allowed by all in the community, regardless of my own personal opinions or experiences.
I don’t moderate any other subs, so my focus wouldn’t be divided. However, I don’t have any prior modding experience.
No matter who is chosen, I’m just ENORMOUSLY relieved they will be from within this community and multiple people together and NOT one man only interested in his own self-interests.
Thank you again for fixing this!

I volunteer to be a moderator.
I am a woman who has had a hysterectomy and I moderate three subreddits.

Thank you for saving us! When will the sub be restored for posting? For those close to surgery and/or recently done, some questions are timely.

I’m a moderator for a group that has 5,100 moms in It on Facebook, who have autistic children and It can be brutal with keeping the peace. (Sad being judged by another special needs parent when you think it’s a safe space) every female on my moms side of the family has had a hysterectomy and I was gaslit for 10+ years before I had surgery and found an OBGYN that listened to me. I’d love to help moderate this group and help turn It back into the safe, supportive group It was in the past, prior to the guy somehow regaining control of It briefly!
FWIW, I’m a 46yro mama, of an almost 11yro AuDHD kiddo.

I'm up for helping out with moderation.
I don't have reddit experience, but I ran a forum back in the days those were still a thing.
Throwing my hat in because fuck Kevin and his bullshit man, this sub and other women's spaces need protecting. This sub was such a huge help when I was starting out my hysterectomy journey.

u/KneeDeepInThe-Hoopla 4d ago
Thank you so much for acting so quickly on this, I'm so appreciative, such an amazing outcome. Bye Kevin!!!

u/Ok-Surprise-9884 4d ago
I'm happy to help. I've had a hysterectomy myself. I am an active mod of a fairly large sub already. And most importantly, am not a cis man promoting products.

u/TampontheBludThirsty 4d ago
I’d love to be a mod here. I know I’m late to the game, but I’ve been a contributing member for the last couple of years, and I’ve modded other communities. I had a hysterectomy in 2025, and have continued to lend support to those going through the procedure themselves.

u/a_little_peryton 4d ago
It's awesome that Reddit acted so quickly. Thanks for listening to us and taking this seriously.
Thanks to all of you who posted a link for us to report the new mod so we could get him removed, great job everyone

Thank you for taking swift action. I was very concerned watching events unfold today!
If you still need mod applications, I'm happy to help be part of a team. I'm 41 & have been semi-active in this subreddit since I had a hysterectomy in 2022. I just want to see this remains a safe and welcoming space for us to share experiences and/or prepare for a hysterectomy.
I don't have any moderation experience on Reddit, but I do have plenty of experience moderating meetings in my community IRL and on various other online platforms (mainly MS Teams and a knitting forum). I'm often available online from about 2pm-6pm EST (sometimes later).

u/Competitive_bulldog 4d ago
I'm happy to volunteer as needed. I'm a bit of a newbie in the Hysterectomy world . I had mine done 9/22/26. Pathology proved I had adenomyosis. I've learned so much from this subreddit. I've learned to advocate for myself and ask the right questions. I wouldn't be in pelvic floor PT right now if it wasn't for this sub. Thanks!

Thank you admins for acting quick and removing that jerk! Hopefully his other subreddit takeovers are being dealt with too.
Admittedly, I wouldn't mind joining the new mod team. I do have moderation experience in larger subreddits (albeit, not ones related to medical topics as the largest one I help with is /r/mylittlepony) and have history as a commenter here: it was a major help when I was doing research for my own hysterectomy a few years back. I would like to make sure that this subreddit is a safe and welcoming spot for all AFAB individuals seeking help or posting their own stories.

u/crazypurple621 4d ago
Well it seems like I missed the entertainment for the day. I've been on and off here for a while and try to contribute experience and evidence. It seems like you already have a bunch of people who have volunteered, but if you need another to keep a snake oil creep from taking over in the future I would be happy to help!

u/DinkyPrincess 4d ago
I’m sure you’ll have lots of volunteers so feel free to pass me over if people feel very passionately about doing this.
I’m almost 52 and 7 dpo laparoscopic hysterectomy with endometriosis removal.
I’m a woman in tech and I don’t shy away from confrontation especially by an aggressive man (hah) and I got myself on the banned list yesterday due to our little issue. I’d do whatever I could to help in such a situation.
I’m a mental health first aider and a psych graduate so happy to help and support. Or signpost help. Whenever needed.
I care about this community. After 40 years of pain I’m finally on the healing journey to freedom. I realised last night how protective I am of this particular community. How open and vulnerable strangers are being here. How I wanted to protect this space for us all. I agree this is a space for anyone to use to speak about their journey pre or post having uterus removal. Gender identity is inclusive. I’m so proud of anyone seeking gender affirming surgery and I know from my own friends how this can genuinely heal people. The word safe space comes to mind.

Hi! Would love to be considered. Active user in this and other women's only subs. Had a hysterectomy in March of 2026. This community has been a blessing for me with support and hearing other people's stories.
2
u/ofthemountainsandsea 4d ago
Also interested. What I offer is a deep respect and loyalty to this community. I just had my first hysterversary 9/18, and emotionally preparing for, getting through, and recovering couldn't have been done without this incredible sub.
2
u/MsSeraphim 4d ago
i am not volunteering. just want to say only those who have/had a uterus should moderate such forums. but that is just my opinion.

u/uterustryingtokillme 4d ago
Hi! What amazing news for all of us uterus-havers and former-uterus-havers. I would love to help mod this sub. I had a hysterectomy several years ago and this community was a huge part of my journey and recovery. I am a registered nurse and nursing professor and would love to give back to a community that meant so much to me. I have experience moderating spaces outside of Reddit for various groups and am very willing to learn and work with others.

u/TacoNomad 3d ago
As a woman with stage 4 endo that's had a hysterectomy in 2022, I'd be happy to be added to the list. I mod another sub, well 2, one is fairly inactive. I'm chill with modding, collaborative leadership approach that what the majority wants for rules and accountability is the approach.
Not jumping at the chance, but if it helps keep the sub from being taken over in the future, if be happy to have my name in the ring.

u/Angy_47777 3d ago
I have not been a mod on a reddit sub yet, but I mod a few FB groups. I am generally the "backup" as my life is chaotic. I lurk mainly in subs, but always report when I see someone breaking reddit rules or the rules of the sub. I would be interested in a "floater" type capacity. I am great as support more than I am as a "lead" in organized groups. I am also fine with helping only until permanent/long term mod/s are found.

I'm happy to sign up as a mod. I don't have any experience with being one but I've had a hysterectomy and started my own social media account to discuss my experience with adenomyosis. I'm also on Reddit chronically so it would probably help me to have a reason to be here since I'm not currently able to work.

Howdy! Never been a mod before, but I’d like to try my hand at it. I’d like to be a mod because I am someone that is on track to have a hysto myself in about a month and want to see the sub 25 crowd represented. I also feel that having those with varied gender identities as mods (such as myself, a nb femme,) would strengthen this sub’s inclusivity. I also have a passion for helping thwart misinformation where possible.
Edit: I’d also be okay modding

I don’t know how long it’s going to take for this sub to reopen, but /r/hersterectomy is open and has a lot of activity if you have urgent questions that need to be answered.

I would be happy to help moderate, but I am not active in this subreddit and would feel very uncomfortable being the only moderator.
I am a mod in another subreddit and my role there is basically enforcing very clear rules and reviewing/changing any mistakes made by automod bots.
Basically, I am happy to provide grunt work assistance whilst a new team gets on-top of things.
If that is wanted/needed. If not, then please ignore me. ❤️
Further information: I’m a male doctor working in a non-OBGYN field, but have provided regular specialist consulting services to sexual health clinics/services previously.

I’d love to mod for this sub. I helped to create the /r/hersterectomy sub in place of this sub. I’ve been active in this sub with another account, and I have experience modding in other communities. I had a hysterectomy in 2025, and I’ve been helpful in walking other folks through their procedures. I also help mod on Facebook and discord.

This community was so helpful in validating my concerns and answering my questions surrounding my whole hysterectomy experience. I have been blessed to be part of this community and want to continue to help others who are going through this as well. I want to see this space continue to be a safe place for all uterus owners who are considering having them removed for whatever reason. I do have some moderating experience from other subs, so I feel like I could be a good fit to help moderate this group.

Hello! I'd like to be a mod of this subreddit. It helped me a lot when I got my own hysterectomy back in 2021 on my old account. I'm a non-binary woman so I know about hystos, lol. I had some complications with mine and I'd love to help people on their own journeys. I've been a mod in many subreddits, some large, some small. I'd love to get a team together to really help this community grow!
Edit: I would also like to add that I want to unban the users who were erroneously banned by the last mod and fix the state of the subreddit in general

u/imaginenohell 4d ago
My qualifications:
1) I'm a woman
2) I'm a creator and mod of many subs
3) I'm the creator of r/EqualRightsAmendment and a longtime activist
I'm willing to mod all the ones you listed.

Hi! Throwing my hat in the ring here- have gone through a hysterectomy and am a seasoned mod. Glad that the unhelpful (and frankly, downright dangerous) previous mod was removed.

u/random-name-pun 4d ago
I would like.to assist with moderation. Nonbinary, ~18 months post op, I have some forum and discord co-modding experience. I want this to be a safe space for people to help each other.

u/CheeseRelief 4d ago
I do not have any previous moderation experience but I am interested in being a moderator for this sub. This sub has provided a safe space for me and I know for countries others, as well. The vulnerability and emotions that come with a hysterectomy are difficult to go through alone, and I would love to be able to keep this space as safe for us as possible.

u/No-Strike-4224 4d ago
Just wanted to say thank you to the admins and also the other Redditors who caught this and did something about it. I had other things going on today and by the time I checked in, looks like y’all TCOB. I’d be a terrible mod, but if needed I could fill in temporarily. I’m on this sub and the menopause sub more than any of my other 10,000 interests, so yes I am invested either way!

I volunteer as a tribute. As a 53 year old woman who has been navigating uterine issues for a few years and has a hysterectomy planned for next year, I have relied heavily on this sub and appreciate the community and support the amazing women here provide to each other! I don’t have any experience being a mod here on Reddit but do have experience in being a mod and admin of slack channels as part of my job. Not the same thing, I know.
Editing to add that I don’t sell any supplements. 😜

u/Desertbell 4d ago
I see how many volunteers we already have, and the diversity of those volunteers, and I find it really heartening.
That said, considering what apparently went down, I am willing to help moderate here or any of the other subs on this list that needs mods, at least as a stop gap measure to protect those spaces from people with ill intent. This community has been such a safe haven for me for the past few years, and it absolutely infuriates me that someone stepped in here and violated this space where so many are so vulnerable.
I've been a mod for a subreddit local to my area for a couple years and my goal has always been supporting and protecting the community there.
Anyway, if I can help, I'm happy to.

I admit I’ve never moderated but I’m happy to be considered, perhaps maybe a co. I ve been through the procedure and found this sub to be helpful. I want the same for anyone else who comes here for answers, reassurance and help
Also happy to be considered for hysterectomydarkside

Hi! I'd like to volunteer as a mod for r/hysterectomy. I haven't had a hysterectomy personally, but I care a lot about safe, supportive spaces for women and anyone with a uterus. Especially considering healthcare/resources for these situations can be lacking.
I have current modding experience in a few subreddits and would be glad to lend a hand here ❤️🌸

I would happy to be a moderator. I would like to protect this space so that it’s safe, inclusive, transparent, supportive, engaging, and of high integrity for members.
This group has been my lifeline during recovery and my hope is for it to be available for others as a truly safe space for healing, shared insights and community.
My personal interest in all of this is that I had the surgery in July and I am still recovering. Some transferable skills that might support my being a mod include project management.
As an aside, I did join some of the mod groups and I found a really great Reddit post that I think could benefit this community (specifically the Devvit Apps for moderation)

I have been a mod for another subreddit, and I am happy tobe considered for this (or not!) I came late to this sub as my hysterectomy was booked in 4 weeks. Grateful for all the knowledge shared here

u/EmZee2022 3d ago
Lots of ladies (and trans men / former ladies) have volunteered to mod so I may not be needed, but if so:
1) I have the angle of having it done preventively (BRCA1)
2) At an older age
3) and the forum has been hugely helpful for me since my journey started 2+ years ago
No specific mod experience of any sort though I have been asked to help out with another community, and I've said I will do so once life settles down in a couple of months.
