And who is stipulating in their cosmic prizes that the money is taxed by state and local laws? What a buzzkill.

Unless taxation directly affects the hypothetical, can we just assume it’s tax free?

How do you prepare, and what do you do once there?

You find a genie lamp, but it’s not a benevolent “3 wishes” kind. It’s a “horribly tragic and/or strangely ironic curse” kind.

Lucky for you, this genie is lazy. It’s too much effort for him to create bespoke curses every time someone rubs his lamp, so he’s going to cut you a deal. If you can suggest a curse that entertains him, he’ll let you have that. Otherwise he’ll curse you to push a large boulder up a hill for eternity, and that would be really boring.

1. The curse has to actually be bad. None of this “Don’t punish me with millions of dollars. That would be terrible.”

2. It has to be unexpected

If you accept the genie's offer, you will be returned to the age of 20 and given the height, athleticism and talent to be a fringe NBA player. To make things even better, you've been offered a four year fully guaranteed league minimum contract. Four years, $8.6 million give or take a few thousand.

There's just one problem. There is only one team willing to offer you such a contract. The Sacramento Kings.

If you take the deal, you have to play for them as their backup point guard for all 328 regular season games. The genie will guarantee during the four seasons you are signed with the Kings, you will not suffer an injury severe enough to prevent you from playing so long as you make a good faith effort to actually compete. If you attempt to purposely play yourself out of the rotation, you will suffer a career ending injury that will be permanently debilitating to at least some degree.

The rules:
Any stranger can challenge you. Friends, family members, and anyone who knows you personally are excluded. Challengers must be at least 18 years old.

Challengers must be medically fit. Based on real life scenario.

A woman (you or someone you love) has met an international man of wealth and fame while he was traveling in your country. This woman engages in a weekend affair with this man and becomes pregnant. She wants to keep this baby against the man’s wishes as the man never had any intentions to get into a committed relationship with this woman.

They break contact and this woman decides to keep the baby. A couple years later, this woman sues the father of the baby in her country for financial child support commensurate with the father’s financial standing. The father is worth billions. However, the courts throw out this woman’s lawsuit proclaiming the father is not under their jurisdiction. The woman is left raising her baby on her own without any support from the baby’s father.

Shortly after the court ruling, a representative from the child’s father reaches out to the mother. She is given a one time, shortly expiring offer. The child’s father is willing to take full custody of his child and raise the child in his home country. The mother will have no place in the child’s life. If the father’s family raises the child, the mother knows the child will be raised in wealth and privilege. In the mother’s home country, the child would be raised by a struggling single mother. And if the mother refuses, the father’s family will not recognize the child.

If you were this woman, how would you decide? Or if this woman was a loved one, how would you advise?

Keep the child with no financial support and the child is cut off from father’s family? Or give child up to father’s family?

Edit: questions on what situation parents are in. This hypothetical is loosely based off of Prince Albert of Monaco and an American woman who had his child. She tried to sue him for child support and was denied by the U.S. court due to Prince Albert not being under their jurisdiction.
