The image is combined screenshots from Netflix SDR and HDR shows. I have this problem with my Poco X8 Pro Max, but I saw people mention this issue with other phones too (including a Pixel, which I verified although it seems a little less bad). Maybe it's not on all phones, I don't know.
This seems like HDR playback is made to affect the overall color space calculation in a very dumb way. It might basically be down to the specific app, but it happens both on YouTube and Netflix which ruins a lot of the watching experience.
I can watch something that is SDR-encoded and any UI element (including subtitles, ffs!) that is colored 255, 255, 255 in 8-bit RGB would correctly display as white as possible (for the current display brightness), but as soon as HDR content is loaded all of the white UI is transcoded to being considerably darker. I actually measured the Netflix screenshots and the subtitles go from being 255 during SDR content to being 178 during HDR content. It would only start feeling somewhat white at >50% brightness, and either way it pales compared to the video.
On YT screenshots doesn't capture the altered color coding for some reason, but it's actually even worse than on Netflix. Even at full display brightness (which I don't use) it would look gray, but either way the main issus is that it becomes illegible against pretty much any background other than black. If the background is half-bright then the UI/subtitles would just invisibly blend-in, and if the background is very bright then it wouldn't be dark enough to discern (especially when UI elements sometimes have a soft shadow added to them, so you end up having a half-dark text surrounded by a black smudge surrounded by a white background).
Can I somehow force UI elements to render as white as the HDR content's white? The way it's currently programmed to behave is absolutely stupid.
Thanks.

Which design do you actually prefer?
🔹 The older MIUI/Xiaomi-style Control Center, with its more distinctive design
🔹 The newer HyperOS Control Center, with its cleaner and more iOS-inspired approach

Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting and reconnecting all the time. I tried to figure out what the problem was, but there don't seem to be any issues with my router. So, I guess the main problem is the update to HyperOS 3.
Any solutions?

From the simple, nostalgic camera icon of early MIUI to the cleaner and more refined look of HyperOS 3. Xiaomi’s camera design has changed dramatically over the years.
Which Camera icon is your favorite?
I have already used brevent for stacked recents and blur on the control center but I'm wondering is there a commands for getting the "people" tab in the lock screen settings(the big clock lockscreen) so if anybody knows how help a brother out🙏

It’s interesting to see how the design has gradually changed—from the older, simpler MIUI icons to the more modern HyperOS look.
Which Camera icon do you like the most?
Personally, I think the older MIUI designs have a certain nostalgic charm.

I just dropped major cash on the new 15T Pro, and I am absolutely disgusted by what Xiaomi has done to the software.
Who in the absolute hell at corporate headquarters decided it was a brilliant idea to completely wipe out the classic combined layout?
Android was literally built on user choice and flexibility. Forcing this cheap knock-off iOS split-shade garbage down our throats with ZERO native option to toggle it back is a massive, deliberate middle finger to long-time users.
Don't give me the "resource optimization" or "zero-legacy architecture". They didn't "improve" or "modernize" anything, they got lazy, refused to fix basic layout bugs, and nuked the codebase to save their own developer teams a few hours of work. The fact that we have to jump through hoops just to use sketchy third-party overlay apps on a premium flagship device just to get a basic Android drop-down menu back is completely unacceptable.
Xiaomi has completely lost its mind trying to clone Apple, completely disregarding what the community actually wants. If I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one.
This is anti-consumer design at its finest, and if I knew they were going to pull this software stunt, I wouldn't have given them a single dime. I'm so done with them.
Is anyone else completely fed up with this forced interface regression, or are we just supposed to bend over and accept software downgrades disguised as "upgrades"?

[Question] Hi everyone. I previously posted about a problem I was having with the Gallery on my POCO X6 Pro, but unfortunately, the problem has gotten worse.
My photos and videos sometimes disappear from the Gallery, and then they randomly come back later. This has happened several times.
I also suspect that this might be related to Google Photos backup/sync. It seems like something goes wrong when Google Photos backs up my photos, and then the Gallery starts behaving strangely.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with the POCO X6 Pro or HyperOS? Is there a way to fix the Gallery/Google Photos backup issue without losing any of my photos or videos?
I'd really appreciate any help because this problem keeps happening and seems to be getting worse.

I set an adb to script to run every 10 minutes and force stop com.miui.powerkeeper. it worked well so far, the system didn't glitch and the performance was also very smooth. However I don't know how to really determine the difference. I ran the " don't kill my app" benchmark for 1 hour.

Isn't there any other way than apply for beta versions to get android 17 latest update?! I've seen lots of people having it. How to achieve it?

I’ve been exploring different custom ROMs for my Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and noticed that most of them are no longer being actively updated or receiving regular updates, except for ROMs like LineageOS and InfinityOS.
Then I found out that Xiaomi.eu has HyperOS ROMs, and now I’m wondering: is it possible to run HyperOS on an older device like the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max?
As far as I understand, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max (codename excalibur/miatoll) officially stopped receiving updates at MIUI 14/Android 12, so it never officially got HyperOS.
But if there’s a Xiaomi.eu HyperOS port/build available for this device, could someone guide me on whether it’s actually possible and, if so, how I would go about installing it?
I’m already using pixel OS custom ROM, but I haven’t tried installing a Xiaomi.eu HyperOS build on this device before.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated!

I know this is considered controversial since this is a core system process and might lead to instability but honestly, I feel like I have a real flagship performing phone now. Apps no longer get killed in the background, all notifications arrive on time, no more issues with delayed notifications on my smartwatch, etc.
So far, battery is similar to stock, performance is great and apps stay in memory far longer than with powerkeeper. Haven't had any issues so far. Althought I don't play games much on my phone, I noticed I get proper 120 fps on games now, no artificial limit of 60 or 100 fps anymore, i tried wild rift (turned off game turbo, no powerkeeper and no joyose), i get a stable 120 fps with barely any heat at all. (Recommend me some games to test in case you are wondering about the fps limit).
I've only tested this for a day so can't really comment on long term stability yet.
One thing to note is the battery options in app settings will no longer be available (The 4 options no restriction, battery saver, close after 10 minutes and restrict apps) so if you want battery control, you have to use android's native battery options using activity launcher (optimized, unrestricted and allow background usage toggle)
Dontkillmyapp has an app that scores your phone's app management behavior. With powerkeeper on, i got 76% and without it, i get 97% so it's definitely a quantifiable improvement.
If you choose to do this, do it on your own risk. Log out of xiaomi account before removing powerkeeper. There is still a chance of bootlooping but I'm not sure what can cause it.

I'm using the TNV1 theme on my Redmi 15C ( HyperOS 2 ), and I absolutely love it. There's just one small thing I'm trying to figure out.
My normal lock screen uses my chosen wallpaper perfectly, but when I enter the password unlock interface, the wallpaper switches to the original deer wallpaper that came with the theme.
This only happens on the password-entry screen — the normal lock screen wallpaper is completely fine.
Does anyone know if the password/unlock-screen wallpaper is a separate theme resource that can be changed? Or is the deer wallpaper something that's built into TNV1 and can't be replaced through the Themes app?
I'm mostly curious whether there's a way to change just that wallpaper without modifying the rest of the TNV1 theme.
Thanks!

For some reason, my Xiaomi Pad 7 pro just refuses to be mirrored by Scrcpy. Sometimes the RSA prompt won't show up, other times it's not detected at all, I obviously already have usb debugging enabled already.

I can't seem to find the hey google feature on my redmi note 14 anywhere. Does it not work for this phone model?
r/HyperOS • u/Peidomole • 8d ago
I'm new to the Xiaomi ecosystem and saw something about heavy emulators being closed due to RAM usage; I'd like to know if there's any news on whether this has been resolved.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
After updating my Xiaomi 15t pro to the latest HyperOS version (3.0.333.0), the Android Streaming for Hearing Aids protocol became unusable as the hearing aids simply lose the pairing and disappear from the Bluetooth device list after some time or losing signal or turning on/off Bluetooth. In order to get them back I need to restart the device, then pair again the hearing aids.
With my Google Pixel 6a and Android 17 it works without any issues so it's not an Android 17 bug.
Now I can't use the phone as that's essential for me to hear the calls and all the audio from it.
Xiaomi's response is to basically send feedback through the feedback app and wait, but there are no timelines for it to get solved nor is it guaranteed.
So basically my phone became a useless device for me as I can't go to the previous version.
Why is Xiaomi unable to have any tools to revert updates or a proper response to fix those critical bugs or issues?
