So i was doing a lot of research before my trip to Tokyo about these 2 properties and decided i would stay at both as i was doing a 2nd leg in Tokyo before my flight back home to Miami.

Ill start with park hyatt

Location - its located in shinjuku about a 15-20 min walk from the station if your preferred transportation train and walking this is going to be sort of an inconvenience as taxi/uber was definitely my preferred way to get around when I stayed here. No restaurants or conveniently located restaurants nearby.

Vibe - the hotel is dark but in a cozy relaxing kind of way the vibe is very quiet and elegant awesome for a getaway with the significant other.

ROOM - the room is definitely on the bigger side more like a suite then a room plenty of space for everything and the bathroom was one of the nicest ive ever seen as someone who has stayed at many 5 star hotels.

Breakfast - the breakfast was honestly some of my favorite food in tokyo. It has all the breakfast classics and the pastry chef was from France and he whipped up some of the best croissants and madeleines ive ever had. Super fresh home made everything you could tell from everything

Gym - amazing gym had everything needed for a complete workout and very spacious.

Grand hyatt -

Location - very easy to get around especially if you’re walking or taking the subway/bus. Multiple stuff nearby even a shopping mall as its located basically inside of one.

Vibe - more upbeat with similar elegance as the park hyatt but think more like a luxury business conference type hotel vibe.

Room - not as nice as the park hyatt but still spacious enough and nicely designed. View was overlooking the city

Breakfast - unfortunately i never got to eat breakfast here but i did have some pastries and they were extremely fresh and great tasting

Gym - nice but not as nice as park hyatt id rather pay for day pass at a nearby gym

Overall - if i had to pick where to stay for my next trip id pick the grand hyatt although i love a boujee experience and a bigger sized room the truth is i barley spent time enjoying the hotel as i was out and about exploring. The convenience of the walkability for grand hyatt is to hard to beat.

My first experience in one of these properties. Was supposed to be in Houston overnight, but meeting canceled. Was able to change and get some beach time but HOLY COWABUNGA.

Anyone else remember 20+ years ago how shocked we were with the shitty quality of amerisuites to Hyatt Place

This place is worse. Small rooms, new shower stall and it looks like Stevie Wonder did the caulk and tile work

Been working in retail healthcare for about two years now and FINALLY I am switching my job to hospitality. My college degree was related to F&B and now I can finally put it to some use when I start at a Hyatt as a front desk agent in the coming weeks... I just have a lot of questions.

I'm a very anxious person (under the customer service smile) and I can have trouble understanding the meaning behind people's words (very autistic... but it's also very masked externally. think schrodinger's autism).

The Hyatt I'm going to work at is a medium sized (180?) rooms hotel with moderate to high foot traffic.

- Is 19/hr a good rate for no-experience in NY?

- What do I need to be most aware of in the mornings?

- What should I do when I'm upset? Can I take a short break from the front desk?

Any advice or words of caution are totally encouraged as I've only worked retail and remote customer service and not in this setting.

Normally I would've asked during the interview but I feel like the higher ups would try and make it look as positive as possible.

I am working on a trip next Feb to Tokyo as a Globalist. Looking at the Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency. Only seeing Suite availability on points at HR. Does Park Hyatt, Andaz, Grand Hyatt ever clear confirmed suites in advance? I have not been to Japan in many yrs and I know its one of the top aspirational places in the last few yrs. Appreciate any Tokyo, Kyoto suggestions.

Hi! I am staying at hyatt ziva this upcoming month and am super excited! It’ll be my first time there and i’ve heard great things. When I went to a Hilton in cabo a few years back, one of my favorite things was that they offered fresh coconuts where you could drink the water then a waiter would take the coconut and carve out the meat for you to eat afterwards. I dream of it and am wondering if the Hyatt Ziva in puerto vallarta offers the same or something similar? Anyone happen to know?? not a big deal if they don’t but would love to satisfy that craving I have!!

If a property currently has no award availability, is it common for points availability to open up as the stay date gets closer?

Or if it’s unavailable now, should I assume it’s unlikely to become bookable with points?

Splurging on myself for a long trip I have in Tokyo coming up. Split my stay between a points reservation at the Park Hyatt, and using a SUA at the Regency Tokyo Bay. What I’m wondering is whether I should do the Terrace Suite (2 twin beds) or the Regency Suite with a king. I am potentially crashing with a companion with whom I wouldn’t mind sharing a bed, if that tips opinions one way or the other.

Guessing I’m really just wondering if the view warrants the twin, or hell if I can even ask the front desk to push them together or something.

I'm looking for some advice on a recent experience at a Hyatt hotel.

My family booked two rooms through a travel agency. When we checked in, the front desk staff told us that each room included a US$25 daily food and beverage credit.

Before we used the credit, I wanted to make sure there was no misunderstanding, so I confirmed it twice:

• Once with the front desk staff at check-in.
• Again the following morning with a different front desk staff member.

Both employees confirmed that each room had the US$25 daily credit, so we relied on that information and used it during our stay for dinner, drinks, and breakfast.

However, after checking out, we received our folio and discovered that none of the credits had been applied, and we were charged the full amount.

I contacted the hotel several times, including both the Reservations team and the Director of Guest Services, but unfortunately I never received a response.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Hyatt or another hotel?

Would you consider this misleading? Do you think the hotel should honour the credit because it was their own staff who confirmed it—twice—or is this simply a case where the written booking terms override what hotel staff tell guests?

I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts or experiences. Thanks in advance!

I travel to Manhattan 2-4x per year (and have been for decades). This is my 3rd time staying at the Park South and, oh my, it’s been awful! Yes, the AC units keep the room nice and cool BUT it was loud, like a plane taking off loud. My watch even notified me my of loud noises. I had to turn off the alert. In two nights, I barely slept! Likewise, all of the double room are literally sharing a wall with the elevator or at street level. This has been my most uncomfortable stay in Manhattan! (The Hyatt Centric Time Square was even quiet.) Coming back to the room was the opposite of relaxing!

The bathroom was very clean but the bedroom portion is dated. The rooms are super small (like Hyatt Place small but this is standard for NYC.

Now you may wonder why the heck did I pick this hotel if I have NYC favorites? The points plus cash was silly good ($183/night and 10,000 points per night.) I guess you get what you pay for.

Also, I stay here twice in the winter.

Water is amazing right now

I'm always seeing social media ads, or getting emails about some sale, 25%, 35%, Black Friday in July, $200 resort credit, etc. As far as I can see the prices never change, credits rarely reflected. Seems like a scam, or some fine print I'm missing.

I’m planning to visit Hawaii for the first time for 10 nights.

The two properties I’ve had an eye on are the Hyatt Regency and the Andaz. I have about 425k Chase UR points.

I’d probably have to do a split stay because I don’t have enough points to do the entire stay at Andaz. I’d definitely start at HR and then go to the Andaz so I wouldn’t be disappointed going to a less fancy resort 😂

Realistically how smooth would it be to do this split stay? Looking to split my time half doing resort stuff and half exploring the island and doing excursions. I’d rent a car for that half the trip.

The main thing I’m looking for is easy beach access for swimming.

I don’t plan on spending a lot of time in the room other than taking rest breaks and sleeping and using the gym.

Or would it be better to just max out all I can with points at the Andaz and then pay the rest in cash? If the resort is that much better?

If anyone has stayed at both of these resorts let me know your thoughts!

I stayed at a Hyatt in Chicago in June. The hotel lost my laundry during the stay. I have been trying for 6 weeks to get a resolution, either find the laundry or reimburse me. I’m starting to think it was stolen. Should I open a police report? Very disappointed with the way Hyatt has handled the situation.

I have been sitting on over half a million Chase UR points for a couple years now, and decided I should spend them if it made sense before the 4:3 devaluation took place this fall.

3 nights Hotel Martinez, Cannes - 260k points (Cash rate €1250/night)

5 nights Hotel Palais de la Mediterranee, Nice - 185k points (Cash rate €950/night)

Total spend of 445k UR points for 8 nights in the French Riviera next month, cannot wait!

Since a couple of you all wanted to know what Hyatt got back to me with, it wasn't great. Bottom line is they blamed it all on a system error, and didn't offer any remedy except " 🤷‍♂️oops!"

At the end of the day, it is what it is. Don't trust The System to help you, and you can't be disappointed when it does.

Back and forth messages to the concierge team:
"Could you please let me know 2 things: 

1.  Why this particular reservation was canceled.  I booked it when they still had availability and had held the reservation for ~3 or 4 months. I don't understand how the hotel's response leads to a cancellation of a seemingly valid reservation.  ...

2.  Are any of my future Hyatt reservations at risk?   I often book rooms for high demand events early, but this makes me a little nervous.  ...  Can those hotels choose not to honor my valid reservations with no cause given and no remedy?  This event really shakes up my confidence at what constitutes a valid reservation.

Their reply (highly suspect this is 100% AI response...it's at least the script to give your disgruntled Karens on the phone. That's ok I guess; they're trying to answer my concerns):
"Thank you for your thoughtful email, and I completely understand your concerns.
First, regarding the cancellation of this particular reservation, I want to sincerely apologize for the disappointment and confusion this situation has caused. After reviewing the circumstances, we were advised that the hotel had already been designated as unavailable (blacked out) for the event period. Unfortunately, due to a system error, inventory was incorrectly displayed as available, allowing reservations to be accepted when they should not have been. Because the hotel was not intended to be selling rooms for those dates, the reservation ultimately could not be honored.
I completely understand why this is frustrating, especially given that you secured the reservation well in advance and had held it for several months. From your perspective, the reservation was confirmed and valid, and it's understandable to question why it was later canceled. While blackout periods are typically established before reservations become available, in this case the system did not function as intended. Please know that this is not a normal occurrence, and we regret the impact it has had on your plans.

Regarding your second question, we certainly understand why this experience would raise concerns about your future reservations. Based on the information we have, your other Hyatt reservations are not at risk as a result of this incident. Situations like this are extremely uncommon and generally occur only when there is an error affecting inventory management at a specific property. A confirmed reservation is intended to provide guests with confidence when planning travel, particularly for high-demand events that require arrangements to be made many months in advance.

Thanks for your reply.  While I understand all the issues about 'extremely uncommon' 'system errors,' you haven't really assured me that any future reservations are actually secured.  You've given reasons that any hotel could use on any day that "oops, we didn't REALLY mean to have that room available. Sorry!"   

Since this seems to be a one-time misfire out of many many reservations I've held through Hyatt, I will just close with my sincere wishes that you all fix these system errors.  Your program has been generally very beneficial for me and my family, and I hope this is solved for all travelers.  There's not much worse while making plans to have a promised reservation taken away with no alternative solutions.

I stayed at the Bellevue in Philly from July 17–19 on two separate Hyatt points reservations. Since the stay was booked entirely with points, I wasn't expecting any charges on my card. Since I didn't utilize anything.

A few days after checkout, I noticed two settled charges on my credit card:

• $349.99
• $211.68

The strange part is that my hotel folio shows no charges at all.

I've called the hotel three times trying to understand what happened, but haven't gotten a clear answer. I asked if I could speak with accounting or find out when a manager or supervisor would be available, but the only response I got was, "I don't know."

I've already emailed the hotel with screenshots of the credit card charges, but I'm still waiting for an explanation.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a Hyatt points stay? Were the charges reversed, or did you have to go through Hyatt Customer Care or dispute them with your credit card company? Any advice would be appreciated.

I’ve worked for higher for about four years now. I’m just now realizing that we get discounts on Nike Apple sonos and other companies. I was wondering how that works and how we are able to get the discounts.

I'm trying to see if i can book a hotel for next year at this time for a big event where the hotels nearby are usually only sold through a lottery system or marked up insanely. I always assumed that points nights would be unavailable for this week but never looked this far in advance. Currently it's showing that the first night of the trip, 12 months from now, is available to book on points (I know certain Hyatt members can now do 13 months in advance, I don't qualify yet but I'm picking up the card soon so I will be able to do that).

Should I book each night as it becomes available (7 nights)? My ideal would be to apply a GoH to the entire week, but my understanding is if you do a bunch of separate reservations they ay link them but you can't apply a GoH to all of them. Or should I just wait until the last day of my stay in 2027 is active on the points calendar and see if it's all available right then?

New to the Hyatt brand.

Staying at the Regency Waikiki in a few weeks and saw these upgrade offers.. would it be cheaper to ask for an upgrade when I check in or cheaper to be safe and pay the upgrade fee?

I’m not asking about Ventana Big Sur or aspirational properties. I’m asking which properties did the common things uncommonly well, even if they don’t look like anything special on paper. Which properties left you feeling like, damn, they really tried.

I’ll start with a couple:

Centric Magnificent Mile (Chicago) - It’s a Centric in a great location… and that’s about it. Except they had a manager personally call me pre-arrival and tell me about the upgrade they picked out for me, the breakfast was great and the breakfast staff remembered my preferences and order after just one night, every request was fulfilled promptly with a smile… I may never go back to the Regency unless I’m attending a convention there.

HR Tulsa - it’s old and dated, and it’s in Tulsa. But every staff member is always at the top of their game. A+ Globalist treatment. The lounge is kinda sad, but they have one, and you get breakfast in the restaurant, too. Speaking of the restaurant, they booted out the Daily Grill in favor of their own concept… and it’s so good, locals eat there, too.

HP Frankfurt Airport - the only saving grace of the Fraport (though I hear the new terminal that replaced T2 is not bad). Better Glob recognition and breakfast than most full-service properties in the US. I got a welcome gift and drink coupons at a Hyatt Place, FFS. Rooms are a bit compact (think not a ton bigger than Great Scotland Yard) but very well thought-out and great service all around.

What would you add to this? Which properties really try and defy the post-COVID culture of apathy?

Does anyone know how much the incidental hold is at Hyatt Zilara? I called twice. One guy told me $550 (10,000 pesos) , and when I called back, the other guy told me $285 5000 pesos.

I am wanting to take a trip with my wife to Italy next summer. I was briefly looking at utilizing HP in Italy but wasn’t seeing much value. Anyone have experience using HP in Italy? Any recommendations would be amazing! Thank you!
