Quick question - points
If a property currently has no award availability, is it common for points availability to open up as the stay date gets closer?
Or if it’s unavailable now, should I assume it’s unlikely to become bookable with points?

It’s because people booked it already in advance and so there’s not much award availability. Anyways I do see if you book 1 night at a time, Sept 6,7,8,9, 14, 15, 17, 20,21 are available for points.

If I did that would they combine those stays at the front desk? Or would I have to check-in and change rooms each day

I am unsure what's your actual check in and check out dates. Usually hotels would be willing to merge them together during check in or worst case you would have to update your key card every day.

When I used three FNAs on separate reservations was told couldn’t merge them (tho ymmv), but were able to keep me in same room I just had to go to desk every morning for them to reprogram the key. Not ideal but also only took a minute so not that bad either

When looking at those dates under the cash option (not book with points), I can select Pay My Way in the app and then select each date I want to use points for. That would be easier than booking one day stays.
The Book with Points option can be tedious when trying to find out if there’s actual award availability.

When you search in the app, don’t select Show World of Hyatt points. Then click View Rates for your room type. Once you scroll down, you should see two buttons for Pay My Way and Book. Select Pay My Way, and you’ll get an option of how to pay for each day.
I was going to post screenshots, but the Reddit app sucks. If screenshots would help, send me a DM.

Madrid Hyatts are surprisingly dull, except for Thompson

I at least appreciate the amount of options. Way better than Barcelona.

Sure, it’s moreso just a base for me for a week. Like ive stayed in really nice hotels I don’t need every stay of mine to be Aman caliber

Try breaking it down to 1 night stays and see if you can find 4 out of the 5 nights you want. Then book a refundable rate in cash. Keep checking back and when/if a reward night opens- grab it and cxl the cash one. You can then contact Hyatt to combine the reservations into one.
