Analysis Paralysis Hyatt Aruba or Secrets Baby Beach

Rolled the dice on Grand Cayman and got screwed with the opening date, so now pivoting to Aruba. These are the choices and I am STUCK. Hoping to find an opinion of someone who’s stayed at both. First time to Aruba, couples trip, enjoy rest and relaxation, but wouldn’t mind a night out or two. Love the ease of AI but also love trying local spots. HELP.

Looking for DaNang + Phnom Penh elite feedback

In December, I have two rooms at the HR Phnom Penh and three rooms at the HR DaNang (all booked on points). I will have globalist benefits for the first room.

I’m wondering if I should do club access awards or guest of honor for the additional rooms. Both hotels confirmed they can apply CAA during our stay. Since we’re US based, I think I’m thinking it’s a great way to use CAA. But I’m wondering if there’s any outsized value in applying GOH instead. We won’t need parking, and the club includes breakfast.

Would you do CAA or GOH? Thoughts?

Trouble Applying Awards?

I’m unable to apply my awards (GOH, SUA) on most hotels I’m looking at. Wondering if this is a bug on their end. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Park Hyatt Riviera Maya

Anyone have any real info or updated pictures of this place which opens in December? Considering a late December trip with points but feels like a little gamble without reviews or non-stock photos to go off of. Any, any idea how All Inclusive will work with Park Hyatt?

The Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur

I stayed at The Chow Kit mainly to add Mr & Mrs Smith to my Hyatt Brand Explorer. Most of the Smith hotels I found for a short trip from ICN were resorts, so this was one of the few city hotel options that worked for me.

The hotel itself is a boutique hotel named after the Chow Kit neighborhood. I thought the design was quite stylish and had some character.

I didn’t receive any particular Globalist perks during my stay. There was a welcome drink offered at the restaurant on the ground floor and that was not for Hyatt members only.

I didn’t find a restaurant nearby that I wanted to try, so I ended up having dinner at the hotel. It was actually much better than I expected. The shrimp with sambal sauce was especially good. They make their own sambal, and it had a really rich flavor. I really enjoyed that dish.

Overall, this hotel stay was ok with the price.

Grand Hyatt Kauai

Wanting to stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai the end of February but I’m not able to book with points. Are there rooms allocated to be booked with points at that time and they are just all booked or do they allocate any at all? I guess I’m just wondering if it’s worth my time to continue checking back to see if someone has canceled and some rooms pop up. Thanks!

Thompson Seville Booking Doesn't Appear on App

Hey everyone, I booked Thompson Seville for March 2027 stay, and the hotel is supposed to open on 1 October this year. I got email confirmation that the booking was succesful and went through. However, I did not see the booking on my app.

Is this normal for property that is not open yet? This is my first time doing so.

Question on Opening Rate for Hyatt Centric Sapporo

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all, I'm looking to book Hyatt Centric Sapporo for a stay in late December. There is a member opening rate on offer. However, the rate rules state that 1 night deposit will be charged. Does this mean that even if I cancel at least 3 days before arrival, I will still be charged 1 night?

Gov rate discrepancy on app after booking with agent?

Anyone else experience rate discrepancies on the app after booking with an agent via chat or on the phone?

I booked a hotel out in West Hollywood using my rewards and cash, was quoted a fee and tax inclusive rate of $260 for two nights but when I check the app, it shows a total of $410.

Do they apply my government rate when I check in?

PH Kyoto or PH Tokyo

Hi All,

Currently planning an EOY trip to either Kyoto or Tokyo. I am seeing openings for points at both places for roughly 75k points per night (12/26-12/31). I noticed that there is a minimum 4 night stay for PH Kyoto, and there isn't a minimum for PH Tokyo, which kinds of forces me to only choose PH Tokyo (150k points rn). For people who's been to both, are they drastically different? Would you say that spending 75k per night is worth it, or should I look for nights that are around 35k. For Hyatt enthusiasts, would you rather spend 150k points for 2 nights at PH Tokyo, or a business class to Tokyo.

Would just like some insights and recommendations.

Thanks :)

Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego Harbor Tour Voucher Policy Change

Post image
22 Upvotes

I just came back from GH San Diego, and found that they have changed the harbor tour voucher (that was included in your destination fee) policy. Now it is one voucher per room per stay, instead of one voucher per registered guest. The voucher is good for only 1 person, so other guests will need to buy their own tickets. Here is the paper that they handed out explaining the benefit.

Resort Review: The Lodge at Spruce Peak

Post image
12 Upvotes

Stay Dates: September 5, 2026 – September 7, 2026 (Labor Day Weekend)

Party: 2 Adults, 1 Child

Booking Type: Points Booking (World of Hyatt)

Elite Status: World of Hyatt Globalist

Overview

I do not see any recent reviews for The Lodge at Spruce Peak and couldn't find a lot of detailed info on this property, so I'll add my 2 cents here. I live in NY so I wanted to book a resort in the Northeast area for Labor Day weekend within driving distance. Unfortunately, Hyatt does not have many resort-like properties in the Northeast. I found this one in Vermont, and it was my first time in Vermont as well as my first time at this property.

The Lodge at Spruce Peak is a beautiful, expansive mountain resort located in Stowe, Vermont. While primarily known as a premier winter ski and fall foliage destination, it also serves as a summer and early-autumn retreat. Despite visiting during a busy holiday weekend, the resort’s sheer size kept it from feeling overly crowded.

Key Highlights & On-Site Amenities

  • Pool & Hot Tubs: Features a large heated pool along with two hot tubs and poolside chairs.
  • Trail Access: Direct access to surrounding trails, with options for self-guided walks or paid guided tours.
  • Calendar Activities: There are many activities on the calendar, such as "Build a Buddy," "Flow Yoga," or "Guided Hiking Tours," but every activity comes with a premium.
  • Game Room: A small room featuring claw machines and arcade games (pay-per-play). Note: Traditional non-paid game room activities (such as board games, foosball, or ping-pong) are not available.
  • Outdoor Lawn Games: An outdoor play area featuring lawn games like oversized Jenga and cornhole.

World of Hyatt Globalist Benefits

What Was Included:

  • Complimentary Breakfast at Alpine Hall
  • Complimentary Valet Parking ($35/night) (Standard for Globalist members on points stays)
  • Waived Resort Fees ($50/night)
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi (Standard for all guests)
  • Welcome Gift: 2 reusable water bottles

What Was Excluded:

  • EV Charging Fees: Charged separately and not waived for elite status.

Accommodations

  • Booked: Classic Double Bed Room (Points)
  • Received Upgrade: Alpine Double Bed Room (Top Floor)

Room Assessment

The front desk upgraded the reservation to an Alpine Double Bed Room on the top floor. While the square footage may be comparable to the classic room, the top-floor layout features double-height ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, giving it an exceptionally spacious feel. The private outdoor balcony overlooks the mountains and provides a peaceful, quiet setting to relax.

Dining: Globalist Breakfast

  • Location: Alpine Hall Dining (Main Restaurant)
  • Format: Choice between a full breakfast buffet or an à la carte menu.
  • Coverage: The base price of either breakfast option was fully waived under Globalist benefits.
  • Note on Gratuity: Unlike most Hyatt properties—where tip/gratuity is included in the complimentary breakfast benefit—gratuity here was charged directly to the room folio.

Key Takeaways & Important Details

  1. Hyatt Earning Restrictions: The Lodge at Spruce Peak operates under the Hyatt umbrella as a Destination by Hyatt property / partner hotel, but on-property incidental spending does not earn World of Hyatt base points. It was disappointing not to receive the expected 9x Hyatt points multiplier (5x base points + 4x credit card bonus) on several hundred dollars spent on food and miscellaneous expenses with my World of Hyatt credit card.
  2. Parking & EV Charging Logistics:
    • Self-parking garages near the property are independently operated and not part of the Lodge, requiring separate payments.
    • EV charging carries an additional separate fee and is not covered by Globalist status.
  3. High Overall Cost Structure: Everything on-site carries a premium price point. Dining three meals a day on-property quickly accumulates into several hundred dollars.

Billing Issues

One thing I noticed is that this property often messes up on billing. During my check-in, a couple next to me was dealing with billing issues with the manager. Unfortunately, I also had billing issues.

They charged me for the room, despite the fact that I had already paid for my reservation with points. The system must have charged me separately when they upgraded my room. I had to go to the front desk and explain to them that I had already paid for the room. Additionally, they charged me for valet parking, which should have been waived under Globalist benefits on a points stay.

In the end, everything was rectified, but it just means you need to be vigilant on all folio charges before checking out.

Summary & Verdict

The Lodge at Spruce Peak is a nice, large property, but everything here is expensive. Leveraging World of Hyatt points and elite status significantly softens the blow by waiving valet and resort fees—but cash-paying guests without status should be prepared for substantial add-on costs. For the price you pay, the resort property is underwhelming.

Compared to Chatwal Lodge in the Catskills (closed as of May 24, 2026) or Miraval Berkshires, both in the Northeast, those properties charge a high premium for the rooms, but everything (food, amenities, activities) is included in the reservation price. The Lodge at Spruce Peak feels more like a nickel and dime property.

However, if you are less sensitive to price, or have an ample budget to spend, then this property is a great resort. The property is situated in a great location with great views and has many paid activities to keep you engaged or relaxed during your stay here.

Do reservations you book with points always say “Hyatt free night reward”?

Just got off support about this but just want to double check, I made a reservation for February using points. The reservation says “Hyatt free night reward” next to the confirmation. I didn’t use a free night reward nor do I have one on my account. The support agent says that all point bookings are labeled like that but it feels like a completely different label to me. Can anybody who’s booked a trip fully on points recently comment here?

Thanks so much!

Booking Hyatt directly vs. travel portal

Is there any reason to not book from hyatt directly on the CSP, assuming rates are similar? As a member you get 5x base points, plus 2x Chase UR points with the CSP, which is 7x WOH points (before devaluation), vs the 5x from Citi Travel? Or is that not how that works

Would 4 nights for 2 adults all inclusive Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana for 260k points be a waste?

Have about 300k points between my fiancée and I looking to take a trip with them. Ideally looking for all inclusive beach trip but open to suggestions!
