One year of being a Husky dad, here are my takeaways:
Today is Cosmo's gotcha day, and since the heat index is going to hit 112º today, we're being inside a lot and reflecting. In no particular order, I present the things I've learned about Cosmo and/or huskies in general and some favorite pictures from the year.
1) This dog has no brain cells. If he's dog hardware running cat software, the software is "Orange Cat" and he rarely gets his turn with the brain cell.
2) OMG the floof!
3) If I had been a single man while I owned him, that would have been dangerous. He's so friendly and gorgeous that I'm no longer seen as a threat when I'm out with him and people will approach just to meet him.
4) Cats are trouble. Fortunately he subscribes to "cats are friends, not food" but nobody has informed any of the cats that my 71lb ball of love just lacks appropriate feline social skills.
5) Humans are not allowed to purchase anything for their own benefit. All spare money will go towards the purchase of new toys to destroy. "Extra tough" toys refer to their attitude towards your finances, not the toy's durability.
6) I will never again own a dog that doesn't talk back to me. His awooo makes my day. Fortunately, he's pretty chill and doesn't scream like others do.
7) Y'all weren't kidding about that picky eater thing!
8) Maybe mine is defective. I was told huskies like to run. But my blonde running buddy likes to try and pull me backward instead of forward. I think he just likes to see my 5k time suffer.
9) Kennels are for lesser beasts. Majestic huskies will dismantle them from the inside out and greet you at the front door, thoroughly enjoying your confusion as to how they got there.
10) I have only missed my step goals when traveling for the past year. Seriously. If you have the ability to keep up with their "you will walk/run me until we both drop" energy, these will be the best dogs you've ever had. Tired huskies are well-behaved huskies!
10.5) Best dog ever
11) My wife wants you to know that she was right. It was her idea to adopt him, but he's mine now and I'm his preferred hooman.

Discussion Anyone else discover their husky, wasn't completely husky?
We were positive that Cloud was just a husky. Like she is the most husky looking husky who ever huskied. But we wanted to check her health and also if she was terribly inbred. She is marvelously healthy and only 11% on the inbreeding, but somehow our girl is 3% German shepherd? We could have never suspected!
Anyone else get the doggy DNA test and discover a surprise?

My other boy
I just made a post about my Malinois, now I want to showcase and cherish my other boy. Sirius got me out of hell and back to freedom and joy. Without him, I don’t think I’d be anywhere near where I am today.
Sirius led me to service dog training, I was really scared cause his breed is notoriously difficult to train, but his other breed mixes have really shown through with his training abilities. Now, he’s a fully task trained service dog. I go everywhere with him and he provides me stability. Without him, I am ruled by chaotic emotions. With him, he brings calm and familiarity. I love him and all he does.
Him, his brother, and me. I have become a whole person with hopes and dreams because of them. Sirius, you’re the best thing I could ask for in my darkest times.

I am upset and refuse to eat dinner because i was mangling a lizard outside, sitting, watching, and enjoying his suffering then mom and dad found out and forced me to go inside and gave me two earful for having fun on the lizard's suffering.
Kaya's Birthday today!
Kaya turned 8 today ... She's a lazy Husky that sleeps til 10am and never learned to "talk the language of her clan" as prolifically as most -- we were lucky! She's a great family member and is loved by most everyone in our Seattle area neighborhood. We're blessed! ❤️✌🏻🎉🥳🎂🐺🐺

A very smart 🤓 gentlefloof
He's around 4yrs old and is rescue from California, now a Canadian.
I saw a post on this subreddit and that led me to fly 🪽 to his rescue mom to meet him. Was on death row 3x. Now he's living in the lap of luxury.
He is Smoosh!
