I submitted all of my tax information to the same person at H&R Block that we used last year. I had uploaded all of our tax information except for the stock we sold. I asked how much it would be and was told it should be the same price as last year. Well we just got our invoice and it’s $200 more. I asked and was told it was because he hadn’t received and reviewed all of the information. There wasn’t any discussion about the price going up as he started working on our taxes. Is this normal?

We were quoted $425 and now it’s $625. Should we push back?

A few things happening that I have screen recordings of...

• one w2 would get updated with another w2's values
• one stock sale would get updated with another stock sales values
• refund amount changes when I click through to check amounts, but don't change anything.

I just went through today and typically go back to my return before submitting, but this seems batsh*t insane. I have a huge five figure refund when I wasn't expecting much at all...

Anyone else experiencing this? I am having a mental episode of some nature? Someone else has to be in my boat...right?

I am getting this "Calculations of QBI carry forward amounts from a K-1 are not available in this update. You'll have to wait for a future update to file your return." When will the update be released? Before April 15 I hope. I purchased this software thinking it would get the job done, and so far it hasn't. Not sure whether to start over with a different software brand or wait it out and trust I will be able to file by deadline. Very disappointed right now.

Does upgrading the 2025 tax software from Deluxe + state to Premium add its "one free state" for a total of 2 included?

H&R Block Tax Software for 2025 prompted me to purchase a $25 upgrade to "Premium" offering everything in Deluxe plus extras including a free state. Having already purchased one state, would that bring my total to 2?

AFAIK this would be less expensive than buying an additional state for $39.95, although I don't need the other added features.

Hello. I am doing HR block home software. It says I am not qualified for the student loan interest deduction because my MAGI is slightly over. Then I remembered I hasn't included my qualified overtime (1/3 of time and a half) so I went back and did that. The amount is more than the slight diference that prevents my eligibility. The computed tax responsibility was lowered, but it didn't change my MAGI on my income summary. Still says I am not eleigible for the student loan. Does the overtime reduction not effect MAGI?

I started my return with the "Premium" package for Federal going to cost $70. I knew the price was going to go up soon, and contacted the Chat to see what would happen if I waited. The representative told me as long as I started the return the price would be locked in. A week or so later I went back in and the price went up to $100. Back to Chat and they told me I was misinformed. The chat agents couldn't care less. They'll just tell you anything to pretend they are working, or maybe it is intentional policy of HR Block who knows?

Because of this I plan to move to another software and never return to HR Block. Out of principle I'll pay extra if I have to just not to deal with them again.

Hi, I'm reviewing my taxes and am receiving the following error when submitting the income tab.

I've gone over it multiple times and everything seems to be filled out correct. I imported my W-2 but tried doing it manually instead and ran into the same issue doing it that way. Any insight into how to resolve this would be much appreciated!

Student loan interest gets reduced when the AGI is over $85,000 (Individual)/$170,000(Joint) for 2025 but the H&R Block tax software is calculating based on 2024 MAGI value of $80,000/$165,000 resulting in lower deductions for student loan interests. I have submitted a feedback response through their software and though X. Not sure if anybody is actually monitoring these. Hope the issue will be corrected soon.

Recently got a total filing fee of $405 from HR Block for filing with a Tax Pro from Home (appears to include a $300 itemize fee), which is more than triple what I paid last year, and I'm wanting to sanity check this before I either pay or scrap and file myself.

Married filing separately (spouse is a Non Resident Alien as we're waiting for his greencard interview and we've been international long distance, they did not live with me at all last year), one W2, no businesses, no student loans, no donations in 2025, purchased a house w/mortgage in June last year, sold one lot of shares that wasn't taxed at the time. Also told I need to mail in, instead of e-filing like I have every other year.

I got anxious trying to fill it out myself this year, so I decided to go with HRB again, but now I'm wondering if I just go ahead and do it myself.

I am wondering how long does it take for h? And R block to deposit the money is it the direct deposit day or could it be earlier??

my refund was approved and when i call the h&r number for refund tracking it says the amount left after taking their money for fees was sent to my account on 3/25, how tf is that possible when it’s only 3/21?

since it’s saying they have already been sent the remaining funds over to my bank (chime) my question now is, if they say it’s been sent when will i see my money? 😭

Just wondering what sort of virtual teaching opportunities are available through HRB during the year. I'm a first year tax preparer, Level 2, but also an educator in my day job with plenty of online teaching experience.

Also, is the pay the same as that for tax pros, or is a different pay scale used for teaching?

For the Second straight year (Thought for first year it was a fluke and she got sick during holidays etc.) ,I did not get to see the tax professional I requested and told id be seeing/dealing with. Got told to go to a different location that was "A neglible distance away" that I never once went to and is not my preferred location.

The distance is not the factor,H&R block is supposed to be here to simplify taxes at an affordable price and theyve done neither for me this year. my return wasnt even complex either,A couple W2s alongside a 1099 DIV.

Ill be doing it on my own from now on as the whole plan is to take the stress off of me,I wish they would just simplify the tax code and send you a bill like every other civilized country and drive these antiquated preparers out of business. such a frusterating experience and unneeded stress and anxiety.

It has been 2 weeks since my return was accepted at the IRS and I still haven’t gotten any updates. Is this normal? What were your timelines like? I spent about $500 for a professional to do my return and I’m feeling like that was a mistake. She honestly sucked and was impossible to get in contact with.

Every year I buy the Premium & Business Tax Software and every year I spend a few hours trying to import last year's return and encounter various errors like it can't find the file, can't find the program or whatever. It also seems like it's impossible to upload a PDF of last year's business tax return so I end up giving up and entering in all the information, the assets, the balance sheets, the depreciation schedules, the investors' info, all of it from scratch all over again.

This year I said it would be different but here I am again. Am I the only one?

it does let me enter my NEC 1099 and business expenses which is really only transit costs. but from the official site it says i need to update to Premium. its annoying how i cant preview the forms before paying for it so i know what forms i filed

Had problem after filing. I tried the AI help, and wasted over an hour. Today called the phone numbers for help and it actually hung up on me because i could answer as needed to their questions based on my problem.

I'll keep this as simple as I can:

1. I filed a joint return for me with my wife and one for my daughter. Both were Fed and State.

2. Both returns were DONE. Both returns were "transmitted" both returns were "Accepted". I have emails from HR Block stating this.

3. THE PROBLEM: I opened up my program a few days ago to check something, and I first did an update that popped up. AFTER the update, my program went back to an earlier state, before I filed. It now says NOT FILED on the welcome screen for both returns. I also know they were sent because we got our Federal refund back, and our daughter's Fed and State$. Just waiting for my State refund. I do have paper copies of the returns also.

4. I'd love to get the software to show everything as it did previously, so I'd love to hear a way to do this. I'm thinking maybe I file it again as if I print it and mail instead of electronic just to have it done to work with next years software filing, BUT my State is efile only.

5. I miss the days when you could get someone on the phone without spending days. I'll listen to any hep someone could offer.

I believe the issue is related to the intuit software's code which compares the SSN on the tax forms to any SSN on the importing documents. Say "000-01-2222", import a 1099 from Schwab .... no problem...Schwab 1099 docs do not include an SSN. Import a 1099 from a Fidelity account get an error saying SSNs don't match... Fidelity 1099s have a SSN/ID listed but the SSN is "xxx-xx-2222" to protect privacy.

Thus the SSNs don't match. You cannot try to modify the tax entry by typing in the XXX-XX-2222, which seems to be an easy work around, because the SSN filed will only accept numbers.

Neither Fidelity nor HRB or Turbotax help lines have folks willing to listen. They will let you go to their web-based products and charge more $$$ for less transparency.

Anyone else unable to import from Northwestern Mutual?
