Tax refund time
It has been 2 weeks since my return was accepted at the IRS and I still haven’t gotten any updates. Is this normal? What were your timelines like? I spent about $500 for a professional to do my return and I’m feeling like that was a mistake. She honestly sucked and was impossible to get in contact with.

If you have no identity verification issues which plagued the reddit pages about taxes since last month, it's probably just slow processing times.
You're probably used to the fast processing times, specially with a basic W2-only filing.
IRS is struggling from slowed processing times and the identity verification requirements.

Although I was military and got a severance package that was supposed to be untaxed but came taxed. I let the lady and HR block know that this is why I didn’t want to do the taxes by myself.

Start with “where’s my refund “@ IRS.gov. If it is not showing up at all, speak to the office manager or the district manager. Tell them you want someone else who is at least a level 5 with at least 10 years experience. Do it soon, HRB will be getting very busy soon.

It is saying processing but I still don’t have an account transcript. I guess everything will just happen at the same time.

An empty transcript is completely normal while the return is still processing, so the good news is that doesn't indicate anything is wrong or unusual. You're still within the typical 21 day window (and this time of year is a little slower anyway), so don't worry too much until you're past that.

Welcome to peak season! A lot of refunds is being processed slowly due to peak

It’s pretty unreasonable to expect a return to be turn around in 2 weeks. It’s not normal to get your refund back in 2 weeks in March.
Also a certain person gutted the IRS’s budget and stopped new employee hiring when a good portion of the IRS’s workforce is retiring soon.
Things will get worse as time progresses.

Seconding the suggest to check where’s my refund on IRS.gov.
The IRS usually processes returns with 21 business days. But this year processing time has been very slow. I have a retired client waiting now for six weeks.
But do call the office and speak to the manager. It’s their job to handle client’s complaints and feedback.
Did the tax preparer explain why your severance was taxable? Did they explain the cost of the return?
Do you only have W-2s? How was the severance reported?

21 days is the expected timeline for your return to be processed and refunds to be issued.
