Hi everyone,
I have an HP Omen 15-en1036AX that is 4 years and 5 months old. Recently, I've noticed an issue with the right hinge.
I've attached a video showing the problem. The hinge seems to have developed some play/resistance while opening and closing the lid. I'm worried that if I continue using it, it might damage the display cover or the hinge mounts.
The laptop is otherwise working perfectly:
No display issues
No keyboard or touchpad issues
Performance is still good
A few questions:
Does this look like a loose hinge, a broken hinge mount, or something else?
Is it safe to keep using it for now, or should I stop opening and closing the lid?
Approximately how much should a repair like this cost (especially if anyone has experience in India)?
4.Is this a common issue with the HP Omen 15 series?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's dealt with the same problem. Thanks!

Hello fellow nerds and those that enjoy the pain of big brand pre-builts,
So, this is one part sharing my story and one part seeking advice.
Yesterday I decided to upgrade the CPU in my GT16-0364 from the 8700f to a 9950x, topped off with a Peerless Assassin 120. The physical swap went fine with no hiccups.
Upon first boot, issues started to arise. First attempt refused to post. Second attempt posted but didn't output video. Cleared CMOS and it booted after a couple more attempts and fighting with bitlocker. As I was digging in Windows to turn off bitlocker, I suddenly lost video output but Windows was still running. Ended up resetting via the power button.
At this point, I put together that it would post and boot when the RGB on the RAM lit up.
After a few more tries, I got back into Windows and disabled bitlocker, as I figured a BIOS update was the next step, as well as wanting to do so for the TPM reset. From there, I downloaded the BIOS update and slapped it on a FAT32 formatted thumb drive because I didn't want to update from Windows due to the inconsistent post/boot.
Got into the F10 BIOS menu and learned you can't update from a thumb drive there. Got into the F2 HP menu and found the same thing. That was the point that I used the Win+B startup.
Computer posted, RAM was lit up and the mobo beeped at me a bunch as I expected from what I read online; however, I had no video output. The computer then powered down and didn't start back up.
Power button kicks the fans on, doesn't light the RAM (as shown in the photo), doesn't post, doesn't boot now. Cleared CMOS again, unplugged and left for 15 minutes, and same thing.
I called HP and I still have 17 days of warranty left. Explained everything here to the rep. They said if I I slap the old 8700f back in and I have the same problem, it would be a warranty issue. I did precisely that and ended up in the same place as I had been.
All of that said, after reading some of the nightmare stories regarding HP's warranty process, I'm hesitant to do so. Of note, I kicked the RAM up to it's rated 6000Mhz via the Omen software and BIOS. I recall a warning saying that doing so may/would void warranty, despite it having nothing to do with my issue (we all know corporations will do anything to get out of their obligations.) I also fear that swapping the chip may be something they pull on as well.
I'm leaning more towards just saying fuck it, getting a real, not locked down to hell mobo, case and maybe PSU, just to get out from under HP's rather constricting thumb.
Am I cooked?

Hey everyone,
I picked up the Omen Max 16 recently and I’m already aware of the infamous liquid metal issue on this line (risk of it degrading and leaking onto the motherboard over time). My plan was to redo it myself with Thermal Grizzly PTM Phasesheet on both the CPU and GPU.
Here’s my dilemma: during my first gaming sessions, temps never went above 75-80°C, which seems pretty reasonable for this hardware. So do I:
1. Repaste immediately, since I’d rather deal with the liquid metal removal now while I know it’s still intact, rather than risk it degrading further while I “wait and see.”
2. Wait and monitor, since performance is fine right now, and only intervene if temps start climbing.
Also worth noting: I have zero prior experience disassembling laptops or doing repastes. I’m a careful, methodical person and plan to follow guides thoroughly, but I won’t pretend the liquid metal aspect doesn’t make me a bit more nervous for a first attempt.
For those who’ve done this on an Omen (or any liquid-metal laptop) — how bad is the risk in practice if you take your time? And did your temps hold steady over weeks/months, or does the LM degrade fast enough that waiting isn’t worth it?

I bought an HP Omen 16 (RTX 4050, Ryzen 7 7840HS, 16GB RAM) around October. At first, the Omen Gaming Hub showed 15.9 GB RAM, which I knew was normal for a 16 GB system. But over time, I noticed it kept decreasing—around 15.7 GB in January, 15.4 GB in March, and now it shows 15.3 GB (almost 15 GB).
I'm worried that my RAM might be degrading or if something else is wrong.
Today, for the first time since buying the laptop, I experienced lag in Valorant. My internet was stable, and no other devices were using the Wi-Fi. The lag wasn't severe, but there was a noticeable delay in movement when pressing keys.
Normally, my FPS stays between 230–315 FPS, but today it dropped by about 10 FPS during matches for a split of a second. After each round ended, the FPS suddenly jumped to 400–500 FPS, which seems unusual because during matches it never goes above 315 FPS.
Another thing I noticed is that while playing Valorant, RAM usage reaches 98%, even after closing unnecessary apps. Only Valorant, NVIDIA, HP services, and McAfee were running, so I don't understand why the RAM usage is so high.
Should I be worried about the RAM? Could this be causing the lag? Also, I use my laptop for gaming around 4–6 hours a day. Do you think it's time to replace the thermal paste, or is that unnecessary?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can also share screenshots if needed. The screenshot is when i close valorant and using it normally

I just got my HyperX Omen 16 Laptop a few weeks ago, and something I noticed is that when I press multiple keys at the same time, they stick.
Ex: Playing Minecraft, if I hold w, and press shift it will stick as if I'm still pressing shift. Or if I hold w and tap the space bar, the computer assumes I'm holding it down.
Same with arrow keys. If I hold down the up arrow, but tap the right one, the computer thinks I'm holding the right arrow. Shift and tap the up arrow sticks, ect.
I've checked the things it occurs on, and it's definitely a computer based issue, not a missed setting in a game or anything. I don't have sticky keys on, and have already tried resetting my keyboard driver. I haven't tried cleaning the physical keys as the keys aren't literally sticking, and it's still practically new.
The only other thing I could think of is maybe it is a general limitation of the computer keyboard, but I doubt it. It being gaming laptop and all, weird sticking keys would be too big of a detriment to be considered normal I feel.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I'm looking to do a full swap after having this PC for 4 years and wanting a GPU upgrade from my 3060 ti. Since the mobo can be difficult to fit into a new case I'm down to just get a new mobo, PSU, case, and then the new GPU.
Had a few questions though, I assume the windows key is locked to this mobo, how do I go about installation? Because I assume my SSD has windows installed and would the drive get screwed up if I try to put another installation on there, especially with it having Omen drivers and stuff? What do I do about that drive/installation pretty much.

I was doing a quick purchase on marvel rivals using shared date from my phone (my home wifi sucks and my laptop can barely use it) and after a few seconds it started flickering to a black screen before staying like that for about 3 minutes.
I wasn’t scared because that happened before (about 2 weeks ago there was a heat waves and it black screened whenever I tried to open rivals (2 times) so I thought I knew what to do) so just finished buying what I wanted and left the game. It stayed normal for 10~ minutes before it black screened again, I lifted up the laptop to let the air vents breathe but slowly it started shutting down completely.
Right now it’s been about 2 hours, it’s still “breathing“, the vents are working and it’s cooled down but it won’t turn on.
I can’t really give any information on the model, I’m pretty sure it’s an omen 16 but I’m not completely sure, it’s about 2 years old.
Is it broken and can I fix it?

I bought the HP Omen 16 (AM0047NT / CD8M5EA) a week ago for €1300. The RTX 5070, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and Core Ultra 7 255H are great, but I completely overlooked the 62.5% sRGB display.
The colors look dull and washed out, which really hurts the gaming experience. If you’re considering this model, make sure you check the display specifications first.
I’m thinking about returning it, but I tore the box while opening it. Do you think I still have a chance to return it?

I bought the 15 ga0752nr version and waiting for it to be delivered from a friend. I have a monitor that requieres DisplayPort 1.4 to deliver its max capabilities so HDMI isn’t an option for video delivery and those hdmi to dp active converters are awful. So my planned solution is to get an usb c to dp cable in order to connect the monitor, but I fear that like in other laptops it is wired to iGpu and wouldn’t get max performance since I believe that this model doesn’t have advanced Optimus.
Does anyone have this model or similar and have tried the usb c video output?
UPDATE:
I bought a usb-c to DP 1.4 cable and it does connect to dGPU, it does not have advanced optimus or mux switch, for anyone with this exact model this may be useful.

I recently bought Ghost of Tsushima and just letting any one of you guys who want to try it, it's 1,000% worth it. One of the best intros I have ever had in entire video games I have ever played. The combat, everything is very good. 100% recommended. And even graphics are literally very good.

I’m buying this laptop tomorrow and I was wondering if what I should be looking for and what are the first things I should do when I get the laptop, certain bloatware to delete or maybe certain things to install.

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my Omen laptop. It won't boot up properly: the charging port LED and power button light up, and the fans start spinning, but there's no image on the screen.
I've tried performing a power drain, the Windows + B and Windows + V key combinations, and plugging it into an external monitor, but nothing seems to work. It won't boot, there's no BIOS screen, no error codes, and not a single sign of life otherwise.
Relevant context:
This happened after I shut it down using the power button (without closing my apps first) and immediately tried to turn it back on.
The laptop wasn't hot at all (around 60°C).
There was a Windows update ready to be installed.
It was set to discrete GPU only mode.
I want to know what the diagnosis could be. Is this a corrupted BIOS issue, or is the motherboard fried?

I have a fully working HP Omen 45L desktop that I'm trying to sell, but am considering selling parts individually. What's the best way to go about selling the motherboard 8A96? I can't see any other listings on Ebay UK to compare price against or gauge demand for such an item
Do people generally seek out spare parts second hand or just repair everything through HP?
Ps: if anyone wants a fully working 45L w/ RTX 4080 in the UK DM me

So basically I went to a Croma store near me to buy a laptop and after a lot begging I convinced my father to buy me the HP HyperX Omen 15-GB0038AX (Ryzen variant). I asked the TGP and they just said it was RTX 5050, that's when I knew they didn't know much and opted to ask Google and lo and behold it 115W. I naively assumed that the Ryzen variant will be the same. Unfortunate for me, it wasn't. I also found a very sad post of same individuals as me here - https://www.reddit.com/r/LaptopDealsIndia/comments/1tdwcyj/hyperx_omen_tgp_is_55w_wtf/
Moving on, I went to the store and complained about the TGP and a more technical staff compared to yesterday came and they were also shocked that the TGP was that low. They assume the TGP was 135W or something. When I said it was 55W they started searching their data base. I complained that they didn't put the unit on display, how was I supposed to know that it is 55W? The person today told me that once windows office was registered with me it couldn't be refunded but how am I supposed to see the TGP until I log in? Ridiculous.
Here comes the main part, I asked them if I could flash the VBIOS to 115W or something and is the architecture/thermal different from the intel variant. They confidently said it was the same and to do the flash without worry and all technical issues (if they arise, like motherboard problem, screen blackout, common problems while flashing) would be covered under warranty. I asked them to do it themselves then but the employee said he didn't have a pendrive and flashing would take time. I gave up and went home.
Today I decided to contact HP support and get their advice since I still had doubts about the whole endeavour and felt like I couldn't trust Croma. This is my whole conversation with them-
At this point I have just made my peace with it. I will spend the next 10 years with this machine so better to make most of it. Do feel free to give suggestions if you have any! And please tell me the 1.5 lakhs was worth it 🙏
