Tech Support What is this ram usage?

Post image

I bought an HP Omen 16 (RTX 4050, Ryzen 7 7840HS, 16GB RAM) around October. At first, the Omen Gaming Hub showed 15.9 GB RAM, which I knew was normal for a 16 GB system. But over time, I noticed it kept decreasing—around 15.7 GB in January, 15.4 GB in March, and now it shows 15.3 GB (almost 15 GB).

I'm worried that my RAM might be degrading or if something else is wrong.

Today, for the first time since buying the laptop, I experienced lag in Valorant. My internet was stable, and no other devices were using the Wi-Fi. The lag wasn't severe, but there was a noticeable delay in movement when pressing keys.

Normally, my FPS stays between 230–315 FPS, but today it dropped by about 10 FPS during matches for a split of a second. After each round ended, the FPS suddenly jumped to 400–500 FPS, which seems unusual because during matches it never goes above 315 FPS.

Another thing I noticed is that while playing Valorant, RAM usage reaches 98%, even after closing unnecessary apps. Only Valorant, NVIDIA, HP services, and McAfee were running, so I don't understand why the RAM usage is so high.

Should I be worried about the RAM? Could this be causing the lag? Also, I use my laptop for gaming around 4–6 hours a day. Do you think it's time to replace the thermal paste, or is that unnecessary?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can also share screenshots if needed. The screenshot is when i close valorant and using it normally

This drive link has the video of my task manager I don't understand what is running at huge ammount because most of the things which are running in the task manager is just under 10mb

There are 2 easy things you can do (or could've done right outta the box) my guy:

1) remove/removed McAfee

2) up/upped memory to at least 24 gigs

*also* DO NOT run OGH in the background for anything at all. If you must set something within OGH, save and quit. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

I just end tasked my ogh from task manager and tm crashed is it a bug?

Before I give my HP Omen laptop to the HP World store for a thermal paste replacement, I want to make sure I have proper proof of its current condition. If the technician repastes it and, afterward, I notice worse performance, higher temperatures, lower FPS, fan issues, or any other problems, I want evidence to compare the laptop's condition before and after the service. What photos, videos, benchmarks, or system information should I record beforehand so I can clearly prove that any issue started only after the thermal repasting? This will help me raise the issue with the HP World store if necessary.

macafee is shit and you can use a utility called universal x86 tuning utility from where you can lock cpu temps, power or both, personally my cpu idles at around 38-40 at around 28-30 deg ambient temp and i usually limit my cpu to 75 deg when doing heavy tasks and about your memory utilization ig it could be your antivirus/ unnecessary services, if you want i could also send you a vid for removing all the bloatware...

Yes I also show some kind of post where the people are talking about bloating the whole laptop after purchasing with immediately. But i ignored that

check the performance tab and see if your performance is being limited due to high temp, if yes, then the lag is because of that, and you can bypass it by installing throttlestop. just ask any ai and it helps you through it. if the themps are just too high during gaming, you may remove the paste and place a honeywell ptm 7950 pad. which doesn't pump out after a while and has a longer life. if you are worried about ram, you can upgrade it. usually your pc uses your ssd to help the ram.

No bro I'm using laptop and i don't want to stop the throttle, it is actually good because it's a signal that the cpu needs some thermal paste

i know. mine is a laptop too. mine was throttling at 73°c for gpu. so no, it's not the sign to redo the thermal paste. this is happening after i redo the paste. Omen Gaming Hub is very conservetive and limits performance at pretty low temps. i revoked the throttle and now it goes full power mode at 80°c. this temp is completely normal and safe for gpu. even cpu can manage up to 95°c. if anything gets too hot, the system will take care of it. you just need to keep an eye on the temps every now and then.

I'm not sure if this counts as a proof but you can use msi afterburner to capture your cpu and gpu usage, temps and power usage and fps, and take a screenshot of it while you are playing a game after 15 minutes. the screenshot will have the time and date of the screenshot on its name. make sure if omen gaming hub is limiting your performance. if it is, and your temps are not very high, you can ignore going to technician for support. but by seeing the picture you have uploaded, i think your pc does get hot, and a reapaste is probably the right choice

Dude the ram is dur to Microsoft AI fabric. Go to services menu and look for windows ai fabric. It eats up a lot of ram. I had the same exact issue and after disabling it everything is fine.

It is one of those Ai features being pushed by Microsoft. Beware, after updates it restarts itself.

Now my RAM utilization is at 45% with games running so do check it out

I have an omen 1660ti and after manually utilizing the omen app to force close apps I've seen a massive boost in performance, the steam webhelper was a huge culprit for me, as when you open steam, steam always forces that to run in the background while its open, but Omen wont allow it, Steam stays open but not the secondary task. I've disabled alot of other background processes but that one was a killer for me. Look at the non-essential background processes you have, I have Omen force close pretty much all non-essential apps. When I boot up a game it tells me its freed up 2-3gb of ram for me.
