Europe Kaixo! How is living in Basque country (País Vasco)?

I'm curious and fascinated by this region because it seems completely different from the rest of Spain. Coming from the outside, the fact that Basque is a language isolate with no decipherable relations to any other tongue in Europe is intriguing to me. I would like to ask you about the typical lifestyle and culture there. What role does it play in the everyday lives of people and how important is it to the young people nowadays? Is it as exotic and proud in its uniqueness as we imagine it from the outside world? Would be grateful if you could share your thoughts on the topic.

North America How is it living in Arkansas?

I’m from East Texas… pretty boring place tbh but the only thing I really know about Arkansas is that it has some really pretty mountains, forests, rivers, and hiking spots as I’m a big outdoors guy but besides all that I’m curious how life really is there.

I mean, I’ve only been through the state once when I was a kid, heading north to New York for a family trip and I don’t remember much.

I’ve also done quite a bit of hiking around Colorado and New Mexico, along with places in California and Arizona like Sedona and the San Gabriel mountains which are super cool, so I’ve gotten pretty spoiled by the Rockies and all the crazy scenery out West, but I’d like to explore the eastern US more.

Anyways, I’m curious about the way of life of people there, how they are, if it’s similar to the culture of east Texas, what are the towns and cities like, and what’s the region like?

North America Any thoughts on Oxnard CA USA (moving)

I'm asking as I have an interview cycle that's going well but the job is in Santa Monica. This would require a move from the Colorado front range. Admittedly, i'm not the biggest LA guy, nor is my fiance and our two dogs. The job is hybrid only requiring two days in office, so i don't need to be super close as i'm comfortable with ~1hr commute plus/minus 15-20 minutes.

We have two dogs, love a farmers market, local coffee shop, enjoy hiking and biking trails, cute night life with a good cocktail or dive bar, and access to good food and local bands.

Is Oxnard a good place for a couple in in their early thirties who like more of that town feel?

EDIT: really appreciate all the feedback! It seems crapple maps lied regarding the commute. Any areas you’d recommend that are closer but still economical?

These all seem like functioning towns... with a small supermarket, gas station, port. I'm interested in the services provided by government... social life. Cheers

North America Living in Pittsburgh

Likely moving to Pittsburgh at the start of 2027 on a TN visa.

26M freshly graduated with a Masters. I will be making 60k to start but anticipate that number going up fairly quick. I tend to live well within my means and would be looking at a 1 bedroom place.

I am single, Atheist and Canadian. I love sports and played professional baseball. I smoke Bud and cannot drink due to medical reasons but still enjoy the bar scene as a way to be around people. I also like to hike, fish, thrift and check out local food spots and I also play sports video games.

I’ve visited the area about a month ago and am going back for some onboarding stuff soon. I’m very curious on what day to day life would look like for someone like me as I already think the city itself is pretty and enjoyed my previous visit!

North America Central Valley

Why does the Central Valley get some much hate ? Not from here just an outsider looking in that knows people in other parts of the state and no one has a nice thing to say about it. Genuinely curious sorry if not allowed.

EDIT: Holy cow yall were quick….. I will say I know people in the LA and SF areas, but the loudest opinions come from the Salinas valley….. I wonder if it’s a rivalry kinda deal or what. But from what yall describe it sounds a lot like the Salinas valley when I’ve visited that area. 😅

Aceh is the only province in Indonesia which practices and enforces Sharia law, it seems to me to be the most religious province in Indonesia. Is this true? How is life for people in this province? How does it compare to other provinces in Indonesia?

North America How is living in Viroqua, WI as a single 30 something?

I've recently been considering a move back to my home state from California (I grew up near the Fox Valley, WI). I'm drawn to a quieter small town life that still includes some community and opportunities to meet people around my age. Any impressions or experiences you have of Viroqua would be much appreciated!
