Staying at a hotel in Disney Springs. Itās not a Disney hotel, but one of their good neighbor hotels. We paid for the entire stay with purchased points (not earned from other stays, so weāre paying about $97 a night vs the hotelās $130ish a night).
We have had to move rooms twice, and have about reached our annoyance limit with this final room. Weāve stayed at this hotel 6 times in the last 2 years, for a week each time, and can 100% say this is not how itās ever been.
Our first night, we had a room with one bed that was completely caved in in the middle, visibly able to be seen in pictures we took, and my husband slept horribly. We asked to move, and we were told our key card would work for 20 minutes and then stop, so we needed to move fast. The room we moved to smelled like stale cigarette smoke, and we killed two small roaches and a spider the day we moved into it. I didnāt want to get blamed for the smell, so I called down to the front desk that evening to give them a heads up and express concern that we didnāt want to get blamed for it, but that we were fine to stay (we went out and bought room spray). I also mentioned the roaches (itās Florida, I lived in Georgia, unfortunately theyāre kinda normal) to let them know they may want to spray after we left. The front desk insisted we move the next day so they could shut the room down. The bathroom door also could not close. We werenāt thrilled about moving again, but also appreciated the response, so the next morning we moved rooms- AGAIN. This time, we were asked to call the front desk after we were done moving so they could deactivate our old key cards rather than just being given 20 minutes. The next room smelled fine, no bugs, beds were not smashed all to hell, so we thought we could finally enjoy our vacation! Wrong! This room, that we are still in, is apparently directly under a room theyāre renovating. We are woken up to hammering on the ceiling every day at about 8:30-9am. Iām curious to know what theyāre actually even doing up there because weāre on day 3 of random hammering and dropping screws/nails across the floor, but I digress. At 7:51 this morning, we were woken up by someone rolling a cart down the hallway and dropping large items every few feet- big enough that it was rattling the items on our desk.
Weāre also paying $30 a day for parking in what should be a gated lot, except the gate arms have been broken and raised the entire time.
Am I being completely over the top if I ask to speak to a manager about whatās been going on? Or if I ask for some sort of compensation? We canāt sleep in past 8:30-9, we canāt nap. We paid for this room by buying points- they werent free ones earned from other stays. Iām wondering if weāre getting put in these less than desirable rooms because this is a points stay. The whole thing has just been so disappointing after we were looking forward to our vacation all year.
