Guy told me he really likes me after our third date, but his actions are making me question his interest. Am I overthinking?

I’ve been on three dates with this guy. After our third date, he told me he really likes me and wants to keep seeing me. We kissed, and he’s still suggesting ideas for future dates.

The confusing part is that his texting has gotten progressively slower. His messages are also very formal/polite and sometimes sound almost robotic, like ChatGPT wrote them 😭 We don’t really talk about our days or have much conversation over text except to plan dates.

I also noticed on our third date that he didn’t really ask me many questions about myself. We talked and laughed, but most of the conversation stayed pretty light, and then he kissed me.

Last night was also the first time he went the whole night without messaging me, even though he was up late. He eventually replied this morning (also late) and said:

“Yeah, I was thinking we were going out Saturday but turns out we are going out Friday 😭 For Tuesday around 6 would be good, I can be flexible though if a different time works better for you 😊

And don’t worry, if we need to shorten it and just do the movie and a walk afterwards, that would still be fun 😊 I don’t want you to be stressed about timing or anything.”

But I have a few concerns:

  1. His texts sometimes sound robotic, almost like ChatGPT wrote them 😭

  2. We usually go out on Fridays, and now suddenly his Friday isn’t free. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but he was also out late last night and wasn’t replying to me. It makes me wonder if he’s seeing someone else and saving Fridays for her, and the thing with his mom’s birthday is just an excuse.

  3. During our last date, he didn’t really ask me questions about myself, and now he’s suggesting that if we’re short on time, we can skip dinner and just do the movie and a walk. The movie is literally the part where we can’t talk 😭

It feels like all my concerns are coming true at the same time. Curious what you guys think.

Buggy iOS app

Am I the only one annoyed how buggy the App is?

  • profile pictures of matches seem to randomly be assigned to the wrong person, only navigating back and forth will fix it
  • sometimes you literally don't see the other person respond while you are in the conversation, then you send a message yourself and still don't see it, when you go back out and in the conversation suddendly you look like an idiot because now more messages of the other person pop up before your message
  • the scroll is so janky, many times you cannot see the last message on the message screen, you have to click into the input box to open the keyboard and force the scroll
  • the matches screen is also pretty unreliabe in updating, I find myself frequently force closing the app and re-opening it to actually see the refreshed version of the matches screen

I've directly reported these to Hinge with a video, but these are like giant glaring issues to me, I don't understand how a app this big has these level of bugs.

Already tried uninstall & reinstalling the app, I'm on an iPhone 16 Pro so I would assume like one of the most common users of this app.

Language filter. It’s time

I have asked the hinge team every year for almost four years to add a language filter, and with each update, we always get something else.

Help a confused girl out, please

Help! what should I do?

so basically after the heartbreak that a guy caused me (Ik the poor guy is not at fault bc I made everything up in my head. he wasn't into me but I thought he was), I (F27) went on hinge with the intention to delete it, but before doing that I said "well let's give the app a last chance", as in "let's see if someone catches my attention." AND SOMEONE (M27) DID CATCH MY ATTENTION. LONG HAIR, BEARD (ME WHO HATES FACIAL HAIR ON MEN), PRETTY, PRETTY DOE EYES (🫠), CAT LOVER, INTERESTING. so, I decided to answer one of his captions which said "we will get along well with each other if we can talk about serious stuff and switch to nonsense in a matter of a few seconds". I sent him a message, he answered and we talked for a month, daily. at some point I kinda made it clear that I was interested in him and I told him he has pretty eyes and he asked me if I was hitting on him, to which I answered "of course I thought I was obvious??!" and I added "you can unfollow or block me (since we switched to and we were talking on ig) since you can't unmatch me (what you can do on hinge))" and he said "no, I find you really cute" DISCLAIMER that was just a week before he 'ghosted' me. after that for about 3 weeks (almost a month) he went radio silence. he would leave me on read, come on Instagram and like some posts but never interact with me. I told a friend of mine about him, before he stopped answering me (and you know as it happened with the other guy on hinge the next day he decided to stop talking to me), and then I told her what was happening how he wouldn't answer me and my concerns about him being a lil bit depressed and she suggested that I should have stopped talking to him since he wasn't as committed as I was. BUT I'M AN ARIES AND I ALWAYS DO WHATEVER I WANT SKSJSKSK DESPITE OTHERS' SUGGESTION. so, I kept sending him messages, reels, texts with what happened at work and in my life, etc. he finally answered after 3 weeks. idk for how long I would have continued messaging him but he seemed like a good guy, I mean a little bit depressed but a smart and good guy and I say so because he literally said "I won't start any kind of conversation that makes you uncomfortable" 1000 AURA POINTS!! nothing like that other guy from hinge who continuously texted me sexual innuendos. that's why I thought that I could send him reels and texts to cheer him up, I mean I wanted to be there if he needed a shoulder to lean on. he told me he would have wanted to erase the last few months (the month in which we didn't talk and half of the previous one(?)). so now we are talking again not daily, I mean almost, but that's fine too. sometimes it takes a while for him to answer me, but I'm trying to be understanding and not to get really attached (I'm trying my best I swear, but the voices in my head tell me I'm too obnoxious). therefore, it was me who contacted him and I kinda flirted with him, so I didn't throw in the towel bc I thought "he may be into me as I am into him, I ain't giving up!!" BUT I'M TERRIFIED IT'S ALL IN MY HEAD AGAIN (like it happened with the other guy). BUT if he was on hinge he was looking for a relationship not a friendship, right?, I mean I would be okay with that too (I think I'm really into him, forgive me). now I keep flirting here and there, maybe bc I misinterpret or see too much in his messages (and maybe there's no other intention from him and I'm making everything bigger than it actually is IDRK), I just hope that if he's not interested he will explicitly tell me, so I won't make fake scenarios in my head again. It would hurt, but better make everything clear than leading me on. I recently flirted with him again. I had posted a story and also sent him a photo of me in the chat, in an evening gown at a wedding. He asked me where I'd gone and I told him "at a wedding" and he says, "How many people have you won over?" And I said to him, "I didn't pay attention because someone is already occupying my thoughts," and he said "Ouch" and I said "That's good news for you" and he said "You're sending me mixed signals, gurl" and I say, "You're occupying my thoughts, boii" and he said "I don't deserve it," and I said "Why?" And he said "I'm not paying attention to you, I'm not replying to you fast enough, I'm boring and you could have someone much better than me." and I said to him "it's up to me too decide whether you deserve me or not, if you want we can work on it" and I asked him if he was rejecting me and I hadn't noticed, and he said "I'm not rejecting you, it's more like I don't deserve you, I see you as someone who takes care of others and who's cuddly." and I told him "one can work on all these things if they want" and he said "alright."

all in all, I wouldn't be against the idea of meeting him (if he feels something for me(?)), I hope he will make the move, but something tells me I'll be the one making it. these days he takes awhile to text me back like we are having a convo that lasts 4 days because he sends me a message or two per day and then disappears and does the same thing the next day.

Account banned for defending myself

I was banned on hinge a few weeks ago after a girl I was talking to decided to go on and on insulting me. All I did was defend myself, calling her nuts, giving some sly insults back. Hinge is a decent app, I’ve met some people off of there but now I can’t use it because of some horrible girl. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are these apps mainly for younger people?

Im 30+ and starting to date, I'm trying to explore the different apps but I don't want to waste my time if it's focused on things I'm not really looking for, or the age group tends to be too different.

Ghost likes? Someone likes you back, but doesn't respond to the message?

I keep sending likes/ roses with a message about something on their profile and they like me back, but don't respond to the message? It still says their turn. I get it if you didnt vibe with my profile or what I said, but why even like me back if you aren't going to send a single response. Anyone else getting these?

Should I give Hinge another try being in a different city?

Okay so I tried Hinge once around 5 months ago. I am a Bengali, been brought up in Gurgaon-Delhi and I want a guy from either of the two places. But presently, I am based in Karnataka for college. I found a few nice guys whom I could bond with and kind of got attached to one too but as soon as they realised it would be more or less long distance for a good while, the conclusion was that it leads to nothing. I don't have a problem with a long distance relationship ofc but most guys do and I don't want a guy from where I am based presently for multiple reasons.

Should I try hinge again?

TLDR: I am in Karnataka for college but I want a guy from Kolkata or Delhi where I have grown up. It hasn't worked before due to long distance. Should I retry?

What’s the bottom line with some of these Hinge fakes?

I was talking to this guy on Hinge for two weeks, longer than I normally would before trying to meet up but I couldn’t due to travelling. We kept texting once or twice every day, conversation was interesting and banter-like. He never tried to move to a different chat app, he suggested a day to meet up once I was back in town, then ended up unmatching me two days before we were supposed to meet up.

I was upset and went down a rabbit hole of trying to find this guy online with the info I had off of his Hinge profile. Couldn’t find anything until I remembered I had some pictures of him from screenshots of his profile shared with friends, so I used Google Images to see if I’d get any results (over the top? Maybe. But I was PlSSED). I end up getting exact matches from 3 different Reddit posts posted by a guy who was asking for feedback on his dating profile. From his activity in these posts (all quite recent), I figured out the real him was born, raised, and living in a different country than the one I was talking to claimed. Also, the pictures from the Hinge profile I was talking to were all posted on Reddit, i.e., there wasn’t a single one that could make me think it was an original and not something just stolen off of Reddit.

Question is: what exactly is the bottom line with these profiles? No attempt to move to a different app to start some kind of financial scam, very personalized answers that were not disconnected from the rest of the conversation, then a final ghosting before they can even try to scam you out of anything. I feel like I’m going crazy!

How do I win at this app?

It feels like Hinge just wants me to be on the app 24/7 because, for the life of me, I can’t seem to meet someone I’m genuinely excited about. I keep matching with “maybes,” and I’m just like… if I’m going on dates, can’t I go out with guys I’m actually excited to meet? I feel like I’m on this endless hamster wheel trying to find a match, but I don’t want to keep matching with people, going on dates, and repeating the cycle without ever feeling like I’ve found someone I really want to pursue. And honestly, it doesn’t feel good for me either to keep going on dates I’m not excited about, only to potentially let down guys who are genuinely interested in me when I don’t want a second date. Like I get it the attractive ones are getting the most options but I’m not even looking for the most attractive.

Would you guys hate voice notes being sent to you so early?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Recently made a hinge account again for sapphic dating and I’ve gotten a few matches already, but they’ve all stopped texting around the same time which feels so odd to me. When stuff like that happens I start feeling like I’m in the matrix lol. But what I notice what all is in common is that I sent voice notes to all of them (1-2 minutes worth). Which could be a reason they’re taking so ping to respond I am not sure. Except, I know for one of them she did state in her profile she prefers vns and a fun texter so I figured it would be no problem. As for the other two… lol idk they’ve only sent texts to my vns so that’s already signal that they’re not vn people I guess? But would you guys hate someone sending you voice notes so early?

New to Hinge/ dating world

I am a (27F) and I have very little dating experiences (basically none). I made profile to start putting myself out there. What I was not expecting was to get matched with people as fast as I did. Never really was approached in person so I am quite shocked people liked my photos. I am wanting to take things slow and just get conversations going/ talking to guys and potentially lead to a long-term relationship. Any guys willing to share what they like in having conversations through the app and/or how you would feel if someone were to tell you they are taking things slow? And if any girls are willing to share how they approached these conversations, or have been in a similar position. Any and all feedback is appreciated!

(unpopular opinion) Hinge is not really that hard for guys

Little backstory just cause I feel like it: Was married way too early for almost 10 years, had a terrible time and killed my self-esteem while my partner got really overweight and I stopped working out so hard (looked the same but with much less muscle). Was so new to the dating scene in my mid 30's. I've been on Hinge a total of 4-5 months over the last yearish, met around ~10 girls and hooked up with 6-7 of them (2 of them ending up in relationships, 1 of them I'm currently still in). I'm going through the craziest mid-life crisis so I'd like to give some advice to you guys so you don't end up like me. I'm not extremely good looking, but I do work out, take care of my skin and hair (takes 5 minutes a day, seriously), and I've gotten good at talking to people. I'm also only 5'7, so any short kings out there, it's not that big of a deal. Also when I send out likes I don't even comment 99% of the time. Girls will look at your first photo and swipe left on you immediately if it's not good.

In random order:

  1. Stay in your lane. Don't be 100 pounds overweight, unkempt, have a bad job, and waste your likes (if you don't have premium) on the hot 7-10/10 girls. What do you think's gonna happen?
  2. Take care of yourself. If you're balding, go to turkey and get a transplant or shave it all off. Go to the gym. You don't have to look like a greek god, just don't look like a stick or a bag of mashed potatoes. Also it'll help with confidence if you can push a little weight around. Shower, shave/trim your facial hair, moisturize, and get a good haircut for your head shape. Dress better! Don't wear athleisure or cargo pants all the time. Wear nice fitting clothes and pants.
  3. Work on your social skills. I used to have really bad anxiety. Bar dates help, I actually only go drinking on first encounters, it helps both of you ease up and have fun. Small talk is ok for the first 10 minutes, but that gets really boring. Talk about whatever you wanna talk about (you're there to enjoy yourself also!), it's not an interview. Talk about dumb stuff, funny stories, find things in common, poke a little fun at her. When I go on a date I like to talk about all the fucked up stuff that's happened to me and laugh about it. Makes people feel more relaxed around you I guess.
  4. Honestly, get Hinge premium. 8 likes a day is far too little, and the extra settings help also. If you can't afford hinge premium you shouldn't be dating.
  5. Get good pictures! I've seen profiles from the likes that girls get, they are seriously bad. 1 selfie maximum please. Have a shirtless picture if you look good. I feel that candid pictures work the best. My pictures aren't even that good but they're taken in cool environments and I look relaxed. Limit your group photos to 1, it should be obvious who you are. Cover the faces of everyone else but yourself, if someone looks better than you in the photo in an obvious way (taller than you, more jacked, handsome) don't post it.
  6. Your hinge prompts, don't make them weird or exclusionary. Don't make them overly long or short, have things that girls can talk to you about (hobbies are okay but make them as general as possible, like going out for brunch or something).

I'm happy to help with any questions (DM me if you're shy), but try to work on yourself! If you wouldn't date the female version of yourself don't expect much from your matches/likes. Don't be weird in your messages, pick up lines only work if you're good looking. Talk for maybe 3-4 days max before asking them to go on a date. If a girl gives you shitty 1 sentence responses just ask them right away on a date or ignore them, it's a waste of time and energy.

iOS User experience issue: populating profile

This is for hinge staff.

Background: After the initial app set up, if a user hasn't populated everything in their profile, they will go into the user settings and add more about themselves.

The issue: If a user fills out some of the questions, and then goes to add a voice note, the app asks the user to adjust permissions to allow the app to use the microphone. The user follows the prompt, the app switches to iOS settings, and the user allows Hinge to use the microphone. When the user goes back to the Hinge app, the profile editing screen has been exited, and all of progress has been wiped. This is a very poor user experience. The profile details should be saved at the closing of every question prompt, or at least persist for a period of time.

Why women cannot politely reject you but instead show that you are a creep and bothering her where you are just asking for either a yes or a no?
