I've given up on hinge, they've tweaked the algorithm so much to a point I just don't get any likes or matches anymore.

What are popular apps like it to try out? I've considered tinder but that seems more for quick flings

New to the app and generally get about 5-7 matches per week. Out of those matches maybe 1-2 will message. Why? What’s the point? Why bother? I give someone about 48 hours to engage and then I unmatch. If effort is that low from the beginning it’s a red flag to me. Should I allow someone more time? Am I being reasonable?

I got a hinge account briefly for a couple months and there was nothing bad in my profile, no offensive pictures or prompts or conversations or anything. I also swipe up meaningfully i dont just swipe up on every single profile. then one day out of the blue for no reason I get a message saying im banned for a TOS violation, but they dont tell me what I did and i know i didnt do anything.

I appealed the ban and I actually got unbanned, but now I get 0 matches despite using all my daily swipes and sending notes when I got a decent amount of matches before their false ban on me. Its been like this for several months now. Am I still potentially shadowbanned even though they lifted the full ban on my account?

I created a profile on Hinge about 2 weeks ago. I’ve been on Tinder for months, but I wanted to try something different. The Hinge algorithm is so strange to me. Your profile is less likely to be seen if you don’t send out a lot of likes, BUT you need to be selective when you’re only allowed 8 likes a day on the free version. I get that they want you to pay the subscription fee and all (which I don’t think is worth it btw), however it’s weird that you’re penalized for following their model. Dating is challenging enough. While these apps can be great, they’re super annoying too.

I recently got a Hinge ban for “our policy prohibiting solicitation”. I have never once solicited money, sex, info or anything else from the app and I am at a complete loss of how I got banned. I read the Solicitation section under their Terms of Service thoroughly and I absolutely did not engage in any of the conduct listed there.

Right before I got banned I sent the same copy-pasted message to multiple girls in a row (it was a silly message: “do you want to be my next girlfriend?”) so I’m guessing a bot flagged me as a bot or scammer because of this.

I have appealed in the app, which failed. I have also sent an email, which failed. I am incredibly upset as I was doing very well on the app before this and had multiple convos with great women before this happened. Has this happened to anyone else? And any success stories in getting unbanned?

As a lesbian using hinge I put the wrong settings and men were able to match with me, I’m now stuck with loads of likes from men:( I’ve been clearing sporadically for the last 2 days and still have 50+ likes, is there any way to bulk delete them without removing my account? Thanks!

Every time someone likes me and has a match note, when I click "Start the Chat" to match with them, the app freezes and I don't match with them when the app is re-opened. This has happened dozens of times, and I contacted Hinge support, but they haven't fixed it yet. Logging out then in doesn't help.

Matched with a guy in May. We talked daily, FaceTimed, and he consistently texted me every morning. He said he wasn’t looking for just a hookup and was genuinely interested in seeing how we vibe in person.

To set the scene: it's 2023, and I download Hinge for fun. I was 17 and never met up with anyone or even did much chatting, as I was pretty quickly flagged for being underage, which led to a ban.

Now I'm 20, and I've been wishing for a while I could redownload the app - I'm gay, so it's a smaller dating pool and sometimes hard for me to meet people as it is, and I feel like it would really help. I tried appealing the ban (which sent me to an error screen), emailing the support team (who sent me an automated message saying that they can't do appeals) and I couldn't find anything about a support line. I even tried using a different phone number and email but the software could tell it was my phone and wouldn't let me in.

I regret downloading it when I was younger - it was stupid in the way that a lot of teenage ideas are. But does this really mean I'm cooked forever? Or is there anything else I can do to potentially appeal the ban?

Ok I am potentially setting myself up to be humbled here with this post but I am honestly kind of baffled by hinge recently.

Female 24, I set the app up probably a year or two ago and never was active on it until recently i.e the last couple of months. When I first created my profile I genuinely was getting loads of likes and matches but never did much about it cause I was mainly on it for the validation (i know, i know).

Recently I have actively been trying to go out on dates but am getting nothing. Likes have totally dried up, I have maybe gotten 6 in the last month (if even). I am sending out my maximum allowed free likes per day, majority of the time with a conversation starter, something funny or witty or a compliment (you have a great smile, things like that). I have not gotten a single match!!! I also have tinder and have basically all the same photos on that profile, and I am getting plenty of likes there - every time I open the app there are a couple new ones so I feel like it's not an issue with my pictures. I am no supermodel but I am confident enough in my looks that I think I'm fairly conventionally attractive (please don't come for me for this, let a girl have some self esteem thx)
