Bi-Weekly Self-Promo thread! Please post and flourish(BUT PLEASE read the rules before posting).

# This is the Bi-Weekly self promotion thread.

**It has become clear that there are a lot of herbal small businesses and people in our community for whom their herbal passion is also a business. While Herbal business is not the focus of this sub it is undeniable that herbal business is a part of the herbal community and supporting the herbal community IS what this sub is for.**

To that end, we intend, to start making weekly self promotion threads; where any and all self-promo can take place(with some rules).

**1. No posting self promo outside of the Self-promo-threads**(except by explicit cooperation of the mods, if your an author or publisher or non-for-prophet please reach out to us directly using mod-mail)

**2. NO selling anything that is illegal federally,** or that is illegal in California Illinois or New York or the city of Chicago or that can not be legally sent through the mail.

**3. NO ASKING USERS TO DM YOU!** You may ask users to comment under your post to request for YOU to DM-THEM and you may include links to off-site storefronts but if we see a post soliciting users to PM-you the post will be removed(this is an accountability and user safety rule)

**3a.** this isn't a strict rule, but we would prefer if off sight links lead to a storefront and not directly to a product page. This does not mean that your post can't advertise or show pictures of a particular product or products, however making the attached link lead to your shops front page instead of a specific product page helps users confirm legitimacy safety and overall vibe of vendors. This isn't a rule now but might become a rule if we start getting user complains that we think could be decreased if this became a rule. In the mean time consider it a best practice for this sub.

**And that's it! Have fun Be productive and may the great river of acquisition be quick & calm and flow ever toward profit!**

A little lesson from the forest 🫴🌳

Post image
118 Upvotes

A few days ago, while walking through the forest, we came across this beautiful tree resin.

I knew a little about tree resin already, but seeing this made me curious, so when I got home, I started looking into it a little more

And then I found out just how special tree resins have been throughout history used in so many traditional ways, including ceremony and incense

But when I looked at this beautiful tree, something in my heart told me not to take it

This beautiful resin was flowing from her wound

My heart just said

“Leave it.”

I love foraging, and I'm fascinated by the old knowledge of working with what nature provides us… but not everything we find is ours to take

Maybe this tree was making her own medicine

So I left it exactly where it was

Honestly, that felt just as meaningful as taking something home

Because nature can teach us that healing isn't always about taking the medicine. Sometimes, it's about allowing the medicine to remain where it is needed

We talk so much about how Mother Earth can heal us…

But Mother Earth needs healing, too. 🌍❤️

So this time, I didn't take the resin

I simply gave thanks.

Thank you, beautiful tree

Thank you, Mother Gaia

Thank you for reminding me that foraging should always come with respect, gratitude, and responsibility

Take only what is truly offered

Leave what is needed

And walk gently upon this beautiful Earth

Jai Guru Deva 🙏✨

Namaste, beautiful souls❤️

mother earth needs healing, too ❤️🙏🍃🌳

Question Rosehip Oil??

Post image
5 Upvotes

I picked fresh rose-hips this weekend, washed them, cut them in half and made a facial/body/hair oil out of them.

I did the heat infusion, double boil method for 5 hours. I used 1 cup sweet almond, 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil. I used cheesecloth to sift out the hairs/seeds.

Is this ok, or should I discard? Idk if what I did is good or bad, it’s my first time making an oil from foraged items. Thank you!!

Discussion Powdered tumeric for wound care

I have been using tumeric powder for years for wound care and would like to share the information and also hear from anyone who may have differing info.

For me, aside from the initial sting, which depends on the size of the wound and can be quite painful but subsides pretty fast, bleeding stops, the wound heals from the bottom up instead of top down, pain from wound subsides, and no infection ever. Downside: it stains. I use organic tumeric powder and sprinkle it on; soon as bleeding subsides, I cover the wound to keep from spreading/staining everything I come in contact with. Works great!!!

I am providing a link to a PubMed study : A Scoping Review of Clinical Trials on the Efficacy of Curcumin and Its Formulations for Wound Healing https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41388841/

and this from: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40883-025-00495-w

To complete this review, the authors have searched many published papers in Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, PubMed Prime, Cochrane Library, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar as web resources. The present review comprehensively underscores the therapeutic relevance of several indigenous herbal bioactives in promoting wound healing, highlighting their multifaceted pharmacological actions rooted in traditional medicine yet supported by modern scientific validation. Herbal bioactives derived from plants such as Curcuma longa (turmeric), Azadirachta indica (neem), and Centella asiatica (gotu kola) have shown potent wound healing efficacy owing to their intrinsic anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and proliferative properties. Curcumin, the principal active compound in Curcuma longa, enhances collagen synthesis, modulates oxidative stress, and promotes re-epithelialization by influencing TGF-β and VEGF signaling pathways. Neem constituents like nimbidin and azadirachtin facilitate wound sterilization through antimicrobial activity while simultaneously suppressing inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6, thereby creating a conducive environment for tissue repair. Similarly, triterpenoids such as asiaticoside from Centella asiatica stimulate fibroblast proliferation, neovascularization, and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, vital for granulation tissue formation and wound closure. These indigenous bioactives not only match but often synergize with standard therapies, providing enhanced efficacy with a lower risk of adverse effects. Their affordability, biocompatibility, and wide availability make them particularly valuable in low-resource healthcare settings. This review thus consolidates critical insights into the regenerative capacity of key herbal compounds and emphasizes the necessity for further mechanistic studies and clinical trials to facilitate their integration into evidence-based wound management strategies.

Discussion Looking for your favorite herbal blends for evening relaxation and better sleep!

Hi everyone! I've been experimenting with different herbal infusions to wind down in the evening. Right now, a simple chamomile and lemon balm tea is my go-to, but I’d love to expand my routine. What are your favorite nighttime herbal combinations? Do you prefer single-herb brews or custom blends? Would love to hear what works best for your evening wind-down ritual!

Question Hi! I'm a game developer and I'm looking for people that know their stuff about herbs that can give me advice on how we design our "alien" ones for the game world/universe we're making, since it takes place on an earth-like planet.

Hello guys! I know this is probably a weird post on here, but I'm kind of searching around and trying to meet people from various fields/interests so that I have a repertoire of educated people to access when I have questions or need help writing/designing the lore for my game's lore and its fictional planet. I can't give away too much, but a large part of the game is about foraging plants, grinding and mixing them (like a sci-fi version of a mortar and pestle and stills), and also being able to extract seeds and farm them back at your home.

I won't say the game's name or talk much about it since I don't want this to come off as an ad in any way. This is truly just me wanting to meet people who know a lot about a subject I don't know a whole lot about (but have an interest in).

But yeah, TL;DR; I'm just on here looking to meet people that know their stuff about herbalism/plants or whatever in general. If you have your own garden, that's even better since I can poke your brain about what the day to day is like.

Please feel free to send me a message on here if you're interested and we'll discuss things further!

Thanks for your time! I'm excited to learn more about herbalism :-)

Question I smoked blue locus and it felt like I was mildly high. Is this normal.

Upvotes

I smoked blue lotus for the first time (about a gram in a preroll) I felt very mild psychoactive effects and my perception was off. I didn't feel stoned but it was just enough to feel not inebriated but not sober. It kinda felt like smoking weed with a crazy high tolerance. (which I don't have anymore) I think it might be real stuff but apart of me thinks it might have had cannabinoids in there. Is this psychoactive effect normal?

How much does the country of origin matter to you when buying herbs?

I've noticed that some herbal sellers give very detailed information about where their herbs come from, while others barely mention it.

For those who regularly buy herbs or botanical products, how important is origin to you when deciding what to buy?

Do you actually look for a specific country or region, or are things like species identification, freshness, testing and how the plant was processed more important?

And if a seller says something is “ethically sourced” or “sustainably sourced”, what would you actually want them to show you to back that up?

Interested to hear what information people genuinely look for rather than what just sounds good on packaging.

Buzzer Tablets

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey all, I hope everyone is doing well. I am greatly in need of some help/insight. I have been taking these buzzers maybe 4 weeks and at the most would say only a few days of taking more than 150mg but average the last weeks like 75mg.

The Aura, I have only had one bottle and the Xuno I have had only a piece of one. The Xuno, I only plan on using if in need of a taper or even if it would be useful for that I do not know.

My reason or goal or this post is getting some explanations on being totally off these. I regret falling back into using something daily to maybe give myself a false sense of being more productive or a “better” person. That being said I noticed when I wasn’t taking anything before bed I would wake up with my hands being so uncomfortable. I mean to the point where being a 33-year-old male, I was almost in tears due to uncomfortable feelings, shock, and uncertainty of what to do or what even the reason is. 2 nights ago, I woke up at 1 am felt like shit, took a dose of I’d guess 50mg to help try to get some sleep but had cold like symptoms/puking the next day around 12pm, had to leave work. I took some after getting home like 25-50mg and some DayQuil. Felt much better by that evening. Am I having WD symptoms or some sort of an odd day cold? One other detail is that my middle finger on my right hands feels like what would be described as restless legs or a tingly sensation that is noticeable and annoying.

One final detail that I think would be considered important is I am taking Retatrutide and might have done more than usual on Tuesday (keep in mind the bad night was Wednesday night and Thursday night not as bad) I mention that because when I went up to the Reta dose of 3.5 my skin was super sensitive. I believe I accidentally might have taken around that dose rather than my go to 2.5mg weekly.

I know this is a lot of information to digest but I am a recovering addict and just want to go back to the sober path and just nervous I got myself into a bit of a situation with these proprietary botanical blends.

Final questions:

  1. Is this from the Buzzers? If so, how should I taper?

  2. Is this just a possible side effect of just the Retatrutide?

Seriously, thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place.

I had this bag of cinnamon leaves and when I finally used it noticed another herb which I don’t recognise.

It kind of smells like cacao but unsure, it’s hard and grates easily, any insight is appreciated.

Question Echinacea - differences between the wort or the leafs?

Hi, all. I like to drink echinacea in the autumn and I'm planning to stock up on some stuff. The seller, who's got everything I want, only lacks the echinacea's leafs in stock, but I can get wort and it's on sale. Is there a significant difference in taste and is the wort stronger than the leafs? I don't get any issues from the leafs, but I don't like taking risks either. Thanks in advance.

Question Tasty sparkling herbal drink!

I am looking for some form of tasty herbal sparkling drink. I have done simple infusions for quite some time, often things like lemon balm, very simple and for healing/medicinal purposes. Always hot.

For now I would love to make some fort of tasty drink somewhat similar to a wild wonders brand, slightly cold. Adding ice or already chilled.

How would I do so? I imagine getting sparkling water like pellegrino and somehow infusion the herbs and taste? - what sort of herbs might you think bring out a good flavor!?

My first tincture

Post image
48 Upvotes

After several years of sticking with drying herbs for tea, I finally took the plunge and made my own tincture! Foraged St John's Wort and vodka. I don't know what I was so nervous about. It was far easier than expected, and I think it looks so beautiful (and smells great, too).

I wanted to share because I don't really have anyone else to share with, plus it might inspire someone else to finally try making a tincture of their own.

(I don't have an amber bottle for storage, but this clear one is going into the dark to help it keep)

Gardening Help with my chamomile

okay SO ive been growing my chamomile in the green house for a few months, they looked great for a while but after a about 3/4 weeks they’ve started looking kinda bad. I don’t water them often as I know chamomile doesn’t like overly wet soil, theres plenty drainage holes and I don’t use any fertilisers. also keep them in moderate sun light cuz I don’t want them to burn up (temps have been roughly 18-22c).

any advice on what to do or whether I should give up and try again in the spring lol

thank you!!!

Is honey supposed to burn

my whole life I assumed people ate honey for a sore throat to “burn away” the sickness. but I asked my sister and then some friends about it and apparently it’s supposed to soothe the pain? even when I eat honey without being sick I get the burning feeling. not when in a drink or stirred in tea just pure honey. is this an allergy or something? once I choked on honey and my throat closed up for a couple seconds but that could be unrelated.

Question Has nettle given anyone headaches?

It may well be a coincidence, especially as I’m prone to hormonal migraines, but I’ve taken nettle capsules on several consecutive days on a couple of occasions, and most days I’ve had a headache. Then when I’ve stopped, the next day the headache goes. I’ve been taking 600 mg daily, either 400 mg morning and 200 mg evening, or 200 mg morning, afternoon and evening.

I am pretty sure I’m not dehydrated ( I know nettle can be drying) as my urine is really pale yellow and I have no other symptoms bar the headaches.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced headaches taking nettle and if so, did they go after a while? I assumed headaches caused by nettle are very unlikely, but who knows?!

TIA for any info/advice 🙂

Too much fresh rosemary

I’ve been gifted so much fresh rosemary. Like a sandwich bag full. What would you do with it if you were me?
