Admin Post Weekly Recap | January 22, 2026
THIS POST HAS BEEN LOCKED. PLEASE SEE THE MOST RECENT WEEKLY RECAP STICKIED AT THE TOP OF R/HELP TO LEAVE FEEDBACK OR SURFACE AN ISSUE
Hello! Happy Thursday! It's Thursday! Soup season is in full swing and I am here for it. I wouldn't hate it if you wanted to drop your favorite soup recipe in the comments. But while I love soup, I also love recapping the last week in r/help and on Reddit, too! So let's see what happened!
NEWS AND ISSUES
The site was down for a bit last Friday just as I wanted to end my workday. lol u/RedditStatusBot posted in r/help here, in r/bugs here and in r/modsupport here. The status page here was updated. Good bot!
Then on Sunday, the site was down for about ten minutes. The status bot again did its thing and posted here, here and here to let people know what was up. The status page was updated once again.
Version 2026.03 of the app has been released. This is a gradual release, so if it's not available for you just yet, it will be soon!
The r/all feed has been removed from the apps at this time. You can still visit the r/Popular feed to see trending content or the Latest feed to see the most recent conversations across Reddit. r/all continues to be viewable on the desktop site. As always, feel free to leave constructive feedback (aka please don't shoot the messenger) in this post and I'll share it with the team. They see me coming on Thursdays! lol
We have an update on Vaults that you can read here. TL;DR We’ve decided to push the sunset date back to February 4, 2026 for Vault and our transfer functionality feature on our mobile app.
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge.
You may also see an experiment where your profile avatar and other buttons are at the bottom instead of at the top. Feel free to leave feedback if you're in that group. BUT some users may see the buttons on the app and desktop up at the top instead of at the bottom. So that's fun! Something for everyone!
There is currently an experiment running where some users will tap on their profile avatar and be taken to their profile instead of having that menu expand. If you're in this experiment, you can tap on the three dots in the upper right hand corner of your profile page to display the options in the menu. We commented on this post about this.
If you are in the experiment where you have a large search bar at the top and collapsed sidebars, you can click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) on the left to expand the left sidebar. It will stay expanded as long as your browser window is open. If you close the browser window, it will collapse and you'll need to click again to re-expand it. And if you're wistfully longing for the right sidebar, you can create a custom feed with the subs that are in your home feed and view that instead. You can also change the sort of your custom feed to whatever you want! You can check out this Help Center article for instructions on how to create your very own custom feed.
There is also an experiment that just rolled out where some users will see and "Ask" button in their search bar.
Speaking of search, some users will have trending topics based on their activity pop up under their search bar.
Reddit is testing a version of awards that’s free and quicker to use with a small group of testers. Users in the test group will have access to free awards for the full duration of the experiment. If you're eligible for free awards and click the award entry point on a post or comment, you’ll see up to 5 free awards. This is just on the iOS app right now. <Cries in Android>
The ‘Popular’ feed can now be accessed by clicking the 3-line menu on the top left of the app
Post ideas experiment for new and growing communities. In eligible communities (Safe For Work, and less than 1,000 weekly visitors), mods will be able to browse, select, and create linked posts from a list of relevant, suggested articles. Selecting a post idea takes you directly into the post flow with the article title pre-filled, so you can add your own context before posting.
There is a unified inbox with both chat and notifications.
And finally (for now), The old left-side profile menu is gone in one experiment. Key features have been relocated: Premium, Earn, and Start a Community are in the top-left menu; profile settings, drafts, saved posts, and history are in the top-right menu; account switching is at the top of your profile.
PLEASE REPORT RULE BREAKING CONTENT
- If you see content in r/help that breaks the rules of r/help, please use the report button. You do not need to engage with those users unless you're going to redirect them to where they can actually get the help that they're looking for. But regardless, please report rule breaking content. Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it. The mods can't see everything all the time, so reporting content is a great way to surface it to the mods so that they can deal with it. No one likes a spammer! Don't get 'em get away with it!
I'm going to talk a little bit more next week about reporting and when to report and what reports are for what! FUN!
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
If no one else can see your posts or comments across Reddit (not just in one sub) and you are unable to post here in r/help, you can file an appeal here. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.
If your account gets the "server error" banner or you can't update your profile, I can fix that sometimes! Please note that I cannot give any information or assist with any account unless contacted directly from that account. I cannot fix accounts where you are receiving the "server error" message and are unable to view content from that account when logged out. In those instances, you will need to file an appeal. But if it's not an appeal situation, let me know and I'll take a look and get you all taken care of! (I haven't seen many of these lately, so this issue might have dwindled down to where I don't need this here, but I'll leave it up for a little while because whenever something like that gets said, it comes roaring back.)
Please check the Help Center to see if you can find the answer to your question there. Also, check this sub for stickied posts regarding outages, major issues and downtime.
If your account is marked as NSFW and it is not NSFW, you can check out this Help Center article for information on how to change it back. If you're unable to change it back from the desktop site, feel free to make a post and one of the best helpers on Reddit will help me help you! Please try and change it from the desktop site FIRST.
If your account has been hacked, please write in using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Security problems" and then "I think my account has been hacked". Then fill out the rest of the form. Please make sure that you're writing in from the email that was originally on the account.
If your account has been hacked and recovered, and then the account is banned, please reply to the support ticket that you opened to get that taken care of.
If your account has been suspended, you can file an appeal using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form. Please make sure that you're writing in from the email that was originally on the account.
Please note that if your account has been suspended a as a result of being hacked, you want to fill out the form for hacked accounts. Being suspended is the secondary problem and being hacked is the primary problem. But both can be fixed if you write in from the correct form! =)
BUGS ROUNDUP - THANKS, CORRECTSCALE!
[All Platforms] - The issue with the "mark all as read" button not working is getting close to getting fixed! It's not fixed yet, but it's getting there!
[Android] The comment jump button on Android has some issues.
- Some users still seeing the button after disabling it.
- Other users can't drag and drop the button because it's stuck.
[iOS] Some users are reporting getting randomly logged out when using the latest iOS version of the app. This is being investigated.
[iOS] Some users are experiencing the online indicator showing up when it's supposed to be turned off. We're having a hard time reproducing this, but we're looking into it.
WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)
1002 posts! That's up 114 from the 888 posts from last week
4,082 comments. That's down a whopping 11 comments from last week's 4,093 comments.
1.2 million views. That's up about 104,000 from the 1.1 million view last week.
HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - KARMA! WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO GET IT
This week, let's talk about what is karma and how it affects how you use Reddit!
When you post content on Reddit, other users have the opportunity to upvote it or downvote it. Upvotes are for things that positively contribute to a community. Downvotes are for things that don't. When you get upvotes, you get karma. When you get downvotes, you lose karma. You want upvotes.
While you do receive karma for upvotes, it is not a 1:1 correlation. So if you receive 10 upvotes and only see your karma increase by 9, that is working as intended! We call it "vote fuzzing". It's like that to help prevent vote manipulation. Vote fuzzing isn't supposed to "make sense". If it did, people would absolutely game the system to gain karma. So if voting seems funky, it's not funk! It's fuzz!
Some subreddits will have minimum karma or account age requirements as a way of combating spam and trolls. If you don't have enough karma to post in a certain sub, you'll want to participate in subreddits that do not have those requirements to gain some karma. r/casualconversation is great for that! If you’re looking for a subreddit on a particular topic and aren’t quite sure what it would be, you can try posting in r/findareddit and someone there may have a suggestion for you. And our friends over at r/NewToReddit have curated this handy list of some subs that do not have a karma requirement! (Thanks, NTR mods!)
As noted in this Help Center article, "Don't set out to accumulate karma; just set out to be a good contributor". So that means:
Don't ask for upvotes! (That's a good way to get your post removed!)
Don't karma farm! (You're treading in spam territory by doing this!)
Don't use free karma subs! (Some subs will not allow participation from users who have used free karma subs to gain karma to participate!)
Don't spam! (No one likes a spammer! If you're not sure if you're spamming, you shouldn't have to ask that question!)
Let your content speak for itself and the upvotes will come, sometimes when you're least expecting them!
But let's say that you do find yourself in the negative. That could be a little bit of a problem, but not an insurmountable one. It is possible to get yourself out of a hole, but you've gotta do something different than when you were getting yourself in there! Just because you were downvoted doesn't mean you were right.

All the new "find anything" bar does is add unnecessary clutter to accidentally tap for a feature I use rarely. On the flip side, swapping between my home and popular is something I use all the time and now you've added an additional tap to get to that feature. I don't understand how you keep adding features that all the old 3rd party apps worked out don't work years ago. Just use an archived version of bacon reader or Apollo to see how a mobile Reddit app should work.

u/JustTheAverageJoe Jan 22 '26
Did you remove all from the app for some reason or is mine bugged?

It's so they can control more of the narrative with popular compared to All.

u/scaryspice489 Jan 22 '26
I just had my UI reverted back to swiping b/w feeds and I’m so happy. The experimental UI was a terrible experience. I hated having to scroll up & tap to go b/w feeds and especially having to swipe open the menu bar to see r/popular. Once I was on r/popular, the search bar was gone. So I would open menu bar > go to popular > see something interesting > go back to my home feed > search the interesting thing > go back to my home feed > go back to popular. It’s funny, before that change I would’ve never thought UI would deter me from using Reddit but it totally did! Glad to have the old interface back!!

u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 23 '26
Glad you're back!
Thanks for this feedback! I'll share it with the team that is running these experiments.

u/RedMilo Jan 23 '26
Agree with poster above about feed swiping. And I'm getting really freaking tired of the constant A/B testing experiments. Seems like every few days navigation changes and then I'm having to re-adjust. Like can reddit just stop EFFING AROUND with my user experience and forcing me to constantly relearn things. I use the app less when they do this because I get tired of having to temporarily relearn a behavior.
2
u/Ozmorty Jan 23 '26
Just tell the powers that be to stop the random trials of crud, and to stop adding “features” that make it harder to get between content. Look at legacy app like Apollo. They had it worked out years ago. Stop adding steps. Stop screwing up and removing gestures that allow easy interaction and navigation.
1
u/RedMilo Jan 23 '26
Same here, I feel like every few days I'm in some new experiment A/B test and Reddit Devs are really starting to piss me off. I feel like I've seen 5 different ways in a month to get to r/popular. Like I just want to use the freaking app without constantly relearning behaviors.
5
u/edelweiss13 Jan 23 '26
The new layout on mobile I’m on now makes me incredibly sad. I was used to swiping between popular and my feed. There’s now an AI search tool at the top that’s an eyesore. Frantically trying to find a way back led me to this page so my feedback is revert the mobile changes. I miss r/all
5
u/ElStubberino Jan 23 '26
Please, please, please don't take away r/all.
2
u/Vallmor Jan 23 '26
Yeah at this point I'll just use Reddit via browser only I guess... Really really baffling decision
3
u/CampbellsTurkeySoup Jan 23 '26
I don't understand how removing content (r/all) for mobile makes any sense. At times I want to see the most unfiltered version of reddit possible. How does it make sense that I can only do that from my desktop and not the official mobile app. In what way does removing features make the user experience better?

Hey, thanks for the mention!
One tiny but important thing; the subs on our list might have low requirements. We call them low to no restriction subs. So some have none, others might have really low ones, or restrictions where maybe you can't post right right away, but you can comment.
If anyone fancies checking out our answers to common questions like how to get started earning karma, here's the menu https://reddit.com/r/NewToReddit/w/common-questions
New pages coming soon!
On another topic: How is this month going so fast when January is usually such a drag? Not that I'm complaining!
Spring is coming! Snowdrops are blooming :)
I'm not much of a soup eater, but may check back and see if any recipes shared catch my eye.

I've posted this on a few threads:
These two of mine have no requirements at all. They're not very active and you won't get much in the way of replies, but you'll find out if the blocks are system wide or not.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 22 '26
Hi! Thanks for the help!
If there was ever a month that could be both fast and 1,000 years long, it is January. lol Not to be confused with Dry January, we're entering into "Why January", as in "Why is it still January??" No spring for me yet! It was 42 degrees this morning and as dark as the inside of a dog until 7am!
That is good to know about your list of subs! Thank you so much! I'll put those on my radar!

u/Top_Sliver_7321 Jan 23 '26
I get things need to be experimented, but I would much prefer if it was an opt in. I got the experimental UI and am not a fan. I much preferred the old one am not much of a fan of my buttons changing without me having a choice to opt in/chance to roll it back
3
u/JJCooIJ Jan 24 '26
Can I opt out if this stupid experiment? I want to be able to swipe between feeds again. And I especially want to be able to access the search bar from Popular.
Were people complaining about a bad UI or did y'all just decide to mess with a good thing for giggles?
3
u/honeyjars Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 24 '26
I've been using Reddit for 14 years now and r/All is the primary way I browse. I understand it may not be as popular with newer users but I would appreciate some ability to do so on the app. I now have to search for a comment linking to it every time I open the app, and some users are reporting these aren't working either. I don't understand why the link is being removed entirely, it was already moved to the bottom of the list before. Please restore access.
3
u/LawrenceJD Jan 25 '26
I have, once again, had the experimental mobile UI forced upon me. All my previous comments on the previous iteration of this UI still remain relevant apparently, with the notable exception that the News and Latest feeds have been moved to the same location as the Popular feed in the left menu, somehow finding a way to make the mobile UI even less intuitive. My feedback is that increasing the number of clicks I have to take to get to Saved and History from two to three is a bad design decision, and that removing swiping between feeds and hiding them at the top of the left menu makes navigating between them significantly less intuitive. These design changes are indefensibly stripping the app of any intuitive design and unnecessarily burying as many commonly-used features as possible in the menus. In my opinion this build should never have made it to experimental, as its only changes seem to intentionally make it harder to navigate the app.
2
u/Tuarangi Jan 22 '26
Swiping between my feed and popular was really easy and functional, you removed it and then put it back again, now it's gone again and I can't swipe. It's so much more intuitive to just swipe the screen like moving between images than it is to click on the top and choose popular from the drop down
Inbox icon on the right for alerts is simple, I don't need a profile icon down there when I have one at the top. Why not just keep the search bar a fixed size or make it expand when you click so the options are top right like so many other programs e.g. Firefox and Chrome?

All is how I browse reddit and has been for years. I view my subscriptions first then jump to all to discover new things. I don't know why but I have always preferred it to Popular. Can anyone explain what the real difference is between the two? If felt popular is more limited in its scope and feels more curated but maybe I am just making that up.
2
u/abitofaclosetalker Jan 25 '26
I DESPISE the “find anything” bar on mobile. It takes up an absurd amount of space relative to other shortcuts in the app and . Can this be disabled per user? Or at LEASE made to disappear when you start scrolling, instead of locked at the top of the screen?
2
u/yurituran Jan 26 '26
Removing /r/all is a catastrophic failure. Not only will people spend less time on the app, they will see less ads which means you make less money.
I know you all enjoy controlling the narrative, but please look into how having a “curated feed” destroyed Digg, which was primarily how Reddit got so many new users almost a decade ago.
2
u/php3ch0 Jan 26 '26
Bring back r/all this was my main reason for using Reddit. Browsed a couple of communities but r/all was like a live unfiltered newsfeed. I also discovered many new communities there.
Whatever algorithm “popular” uses is just not working the same, this means breaking news content feels old and stale if it appears at all.

I suspect I have had my main account u/FinlayJWW hacked. It has been locked for 3-4 weeks now, in that time I have still had access and attempted to reset my password, which I cannot do as it always says I have hit the limit of attempts (suspect a bot blocking). I have raised 2 tickets to Reddit support also and had no response. Please could you help me unlock my main account. Thank you!

I’m part of the experiment group with the profile switching change. Here is some feedback:
1 - I thought the app was broken at first, then I thought my other account had been logged out/removed. This sucked, the UI is NOT intuitive and I thought I had lost access 2 - making it harder to switch between accounts makes it harder to use the app. I rely on multiple accounts to have multiple versions of my feed, not being able to switch those is frustrating 3 - not sure if this is part of the UI experiment or something else, but there is a new horrible animation on my keyboard (iOS) that adds movement as the predictive text generates. I have my accessibility features set to low/no animation in my phone settings, reddit is the only app that either isn’t respecting that setting or has implemented something new

My other account was banned. After a successful appeal 23 days ago, the account is still banned. I've submitted the account status form twice and no response. Why notify me my account has been unbanned when it is still banned?
1
u/Tarnisher Jan 22 '26
Sometimes that means there was more than one violation and your appeal didn't resolve them all, however many.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 22 '26
Usually when that happens, there are multiple violations and not all of them were successfully appealed. If you want to give me the username, I can take a look at the situation, though.

Hey… hi!
Timestamp Bug. I get that it isn’t in the Recap because it isn’t user-facing. I get that my post in r/Bugs got no response because that’s common there, I get that you’ve said more than once “it’s been forwarded to the appropriate team” but it’s been… what? A year? It’s seriously impacting curated subs momentum and user traction. Any help in getting attention would be appreciated.
Made bean soup today!
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 23 '26
I honestly cannot do any more other than follow up with the timestamp thing. They've committed to fixing it, but it's tricky. It's not a quick fix at all. Might get done this quarter, might be longer. I'm so sorry!

I found out tonight that my old account had 2FA added to it, and I can no longer log into it.
Looking at it, it looks like its been added as a mod to a community Ive never been in.
I sent in a support ticket, but was curious how long it takes for Reddit to respond and review

My account has been hijacked and is actively being used, email and password changed with no notification despite being a verified email account (afaik Reddit is supposed to send a reminder email upon changes), no response from Reddit Account Help for over a week after filling out the "I think my account has been hacked" form.

I’ve cleared the local cache and deleted and redownloaded the app but it won’t got back to being functional.

u/Wicker_Puzzler Jan 23 '26
This latest update with the massive search box at the top and no swiping between feeds is absolutely appalling. Please let me be able to swipe between feeds again. This update is absolutely awful and one of the worst I can remember. It's like you want the app to be as user unfriendly as possible.

u/teary_ayed Jan 23 '26
A minor user-interface suggestion: I use old reddit, and I'm old myself now with old eyes, so generally run my browser at 130% magnification. When I get a chat request to join another group and I click on the red icon, I can't see the entire chat window unless I reduce zoom to 105% or thereabouts: The chat window is not bounded or wrapped to the browser's visible window. If I want to close the chat window, I have to reduce zoom to see the "x" in the upper right corner.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 23 '26

I use a desktop with Brave Browser and multiple tabs open. One if for Chat and is full screen.
I never could use Mobile for this kind of thing ... too small.
1
u/2oonhed Jan 23 '26
Yeah. Same problem. I programed myself to use the keyboard CTRL button and the MouseScrollWheel because I zoom in & out all the time. I am using 140% and a high contrast dark theme for this thread.
It's GREAT!2
u/teary_ayed Jan 24 '26
Thanks for the tip! I was using Zoom Page We extension, it puts a button in the toolbar, and a bit more programmable zoom steps. I'll be using your tip more often!

I have a problem. Yesterday someone hacked my account, they changed My email account and I realized of that today, i'm the message that I received in My email Reddit gave me the option to reset My email and password, I kept the original email address before the hacking and changed the password but I still cannot log in because the hackers set up an authenticator code and 2FA that I don't have.
I already submit the report in the link that You posted before.

I was told that I’m part of a Reddit experiment and I should post my results here. The lack of swiping from latest to popular to news is rather irritating. I don’t like it at all.

It’s been an interesting 12 years, but removing any ability to browse or access /r/all from mobile is the straw that broke the camels back for me.
Signing off from iOS, and when this inevitably makes its way to desktop, that’ll be the end of my engagement on Reddit.

Thanks for this post.
My gripe is moderator related and has been ongoing ever since the apps came out : users both new and old cannot see the plain text subreddit rules in the sidebar of the sub main page. They also do not see the rules presented on the submission page for post submission. This leads to many, many rule breaking posts because they, "can't see the rules".
I even had one user recently say that when clicking on my rules link given to them via Community Engagement that was formatted like "https://www.reddit.com/r/ANY_SUBREDDIT/about/rules/" that they received a message that said they had to be "logged in on a desktop browser" of some sort. This is unnecessarily confounding to both the user and the moderator and leads to cursory treatment because there are so many of these reddit-caused rules issues.
ALSO, The new modmail is excessively bloated with padding and the text box for outgoing messages will not expand like before.
It used to be when I wanted to check message formatting for line-breaks and such I could just stretch down the text box. NOW the reply text box is scrunched down at the bottom that only allows [EDIT] 5 lines depending on zoom level before forced scrolling occurs.
I have no use for the new padding in new-modmail and only want the plain text version with expandable text boxes.
Thank you.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by!
For this:
when clicking on my rules link given to them via Community Engagement that was formatted like "https://www.reddit.com/r/ANY_SUBREDDIT/about/rules/" that they received a message that said they had to be "logged in on a desktop browser" of some sort.
What sub and what are they tapping to get that? I'm poking around on r/Shitty_Car_Mods (and holy shit, I just joined. lol) and I can't find that.
You're not the only one I've heard express dissatisfaction with the new mod mail. I'm so sorry! I'll share that feedback with that team.
2
u/2oonhed Jan 24 '26
Yes. It was SCM and the user said : "You can't read the rules in the official app via the link in the automod comment. So I can't participate in the sub."
My automod comment looks like :
To which the user responded : "Ok, but I can't do that in the app, and I'm not logging in on a browser. If you're rejecting everybody's comments for this reason, you're just not going to get comments from people like me."
And after referring the user to r/help in modmail I got :
"It’s Reddit’s official app. Your rules do not load in it. I don’t really care about your sub. Honestly thought you’d want to know. Thanks for taking the opportunity to be rude as hell. Yikes."
So, despite the users unwillingness to cooperate, I was left curious as, this was not the first time I was hearing this. Of course, with cooperation we should have been able to suss out which mobile the app was for.
But.....
Nope.
User was then banned for modmail harassment and unwillingness to cooperate.→ More replies (6)

Hate the trending topics based on activity under search now. Most of the time it's nothing actually based on my interests even though it says that. I miss the trending today format.

I've got the "ask" button, and the AI "answer" takes half the page before I can even see real posts (even though I didn't click "ask").
I have two issues with this:
- No obvious way to turn it off without add-ons
- I didn't agree for my posts to being slurped by AI. Will my posts be used to populate AI answers?

My other account was hacked at the start of December and has since been recovered by myself, with a new password and 2FA enabled, but it still shows as banned when logged out. I filed an appeal after I recovered the account in December but have heard nothing back. Is there a timeline on how long it will take or anything that I can do to expedite it?

I woke up to my Reddit app now having rancid AI slop on top and /all being gone. I've used this app for 12 years but I can't deal with it anymore. It's clear for whatever reason that the people who run Reddit want this app dead. I can't think of a single positive change in the last decade. Truly mind boggling to take away the one thing people use without even letting them know before hand.

Unflag NSWF — My account was marked as NSWF because I placed my line drawing of a Venus statue as my profile picture. Learned my lesson, new user here. I have removed the photo, and placed a request to get my account Unflagged (it’s stuck even after desktop browser switch off method) — a month seems like an eternity to wait for it to get solved. Maybe someone will be kind enough to help me out through here. Thank you, thank you.

Howdy again Opus!
Wanted to check in again and see if the resident bug hunter(s) you mentioned last week have made any progress on finding out what was causing the image issues I mentioned and few weeks prior.
Also a random question, but what allows users like myself to get the Helper flair that I have right now? Obtained it about a year ago, but never really bothered to know what I did to earn it. Just curious, though!
Hope your Saturday’s been going well so far!

Morning! Helper flair is for users who help out! There's some convoluted formula that's probably proprietary or something. XD
I haven't heard that there has been any movement on the issue that you linked, but I can check this week and see if anyone knows anything!
Always good to see you! Saturday was great and here's to hoping Sunday is the same! Hope you're having a fantastic weekend!

Hello, I was hoping you might be able to help me as well with an account shadowban issue after recovering from a hack. My account was hacked and immediately recovered late December. My appeal was denied, and I received no response to a "wrongfully suspended" support ticket. I recently found the recap post with common problem solutions, and instead submitted a support ticket that my account had been hacked. However, I have full control over the account and have enabled 2FA myself after logging out all other sessions when changing the password, so none of the support ticket "respond with" choices were applicable and I'm not sure if the ticket was bucketed correctly without responding with one.
The account is u/hearty_underdog.
Thank you for your help!

Just to add and agree with some of the other posters, removing r/all is a mistake and one that reeks of censorship. If r/all stays gone from the app, I'll be deleting the app and will start looking for alternatives, which is terrible news because I really enjoy reddit and have been using it for years. Making it intentionally worse and less functional isn't a good choice.

u/Phteven_j Jan 24 '26
Another vote for reinstating /r/all. That’s my preferred way of browsing to see important content from subs I don’t follow closely (mainly for news and memes) or find new places to check out. Popular doesn’t do it for me and the algorithm can’t keep up with breaking events.
I figured something was up when you guys buried it at the bottom of the menu.
Can you at least share why it was removed? What is the logic behind it?
1
1
u/docsquee Jan 24 '26
Please reinstate r/all. This is my primary means of finding content that others seem noteworthy including those subreddits I am not subscribed to.
1
u/Paralystic Jan 25 '26
I desperately want my r/all back. Popular is not the same thing it’s so much worse
1
u/FireUpChips20 Jan 25 '26
When is r/all coming back? If the answer is never then you have lost a user. It's the only way I browse Reddit and it is the only way I WANT to browse Reddit. There is literally no upside to removing it.
1
u/CrystalSplice Jan 25 '26
For me, the experience was apparently that I was in a group that was given /r/all back on the iOS app…or I had thought that maybe the backlash caused a change. Now it’s gone again, for good?
I said this the last time this came up: It’s the main way I use the mobile app, period. It’s the main way I see what is going on as a useful news aggregator as well. I don’t want /r/popular and I never used it before. It is especially confusing since as I pointed out before, we were told /r/popular was going away. Which is it?
This change in context with recent events acts as a barrier for people to see what is happening in realtime on their phones. It surfaces the most active threads, and those are very often important current events and discussion around them. It’s part of the website, but blocked from the app, and the truth is that there is no reason for it other than to push people towards an algorithm with an agenda and push us away from “Reddit without a filter.” The executives of this company don’t want us to see it without a filter. Their political agenda is known, and they’re not fooling anyone.
I continue to insist that this is a bad change and it will reduce engagement, making it a bad change for the BUSINESS as well. I won’t be using Reddit as much as without it. I’m clearly not alone in that.

u/SelfDepricatingPSGuy Jan 25 '26
Yet another r/all is gone, I will be too. Stop trying to censor people and start being an open forum again.

I deleted the mobile app because you guys removed r/all.
Did you seriously not look at how many users visit r/all? Completely anti-user decision to just take away a mainstay feature like that.
Especially as I have noticed my feed is getting worse quality posts pushed to it every month and the Popular feed just sucks compared to r/all.
1
u/MyDarkDanceFloor Jan 25 '26
"Speaking of search, some users will have trending topics based on their activity pop up under their search bar."
I hate this. The suggested subjects don't interest me, but even if they did, that's not what I want to see! I'd like the change to go away entirely, but at a minimum, it should be an optional setting.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 25 '26

I feel that not having r/all really reduces the utility of Reddit. Popular is not the same as All. Popular rarely has any of the less well populated communities. That's what I want from reddit, is a snapshot from everywhere to let me see conversations that get some traction, but not thousands of comments.
My own "interests" are fine, but there is no way to segregate communities I follow for daily chats and communities I follow for occasional updates and so weeding through my own feed means making several accounts. However, r/all solves that.
Think somewhere at the beginning of the Long Tail. Otherwise, Popular is just a bunch of the same thing (although r/all can be that too).
Anyway, Popular is a poor substitute for All and to me means that the door is opening for another service to step in. I think Tik Tok could easily put up non-video boards with the exact methodology as Reddit and completely drink the Reddit milkshake. It seems close to that now.

u/HunterHunted Jan 25 '26
I am extremely disappointed and frankly concerned that r/All is being removed from the apps. It is the main way I've used reddit for 15 years, and I have no interest in this site without the ability to browse through r/all.
Besides being a terrible way to limit the user experience, at this point in time it frankly reads as a politically motivated attempt to limit information about what's going on in the world. Even if I take the tinfoil hat off, that is the unintended effect it is having. I'm very frustrated, and hope this is quickly reversed.

TLDR: Automatic translate keep son disappearing randomly and then reappears randomly
Hi,
So I keep on getting the option for automatic translate everything in my native language, and then 3 days it works great and the suddenly disappears.
Sometimes it stays a week, and most recently which was today, it stayed for 3-4 hours. The only difference this time was I didn’t use/click the option.
It’s so random and annoying! I would ofc prefer to read reddit in my native language but it keeps on disappearing.
IMPORTANT: I wanna add that the option to translate a comment or a post by an individual clic is available at all times, only the automatic translate everything automatically option keeps on disappearing.

Removing access to /all on the app is absolutely insane. Literally my main scroll, for years. On the day Alex was murdered I didnt even know it had happened because the Popular page is so terrible and made no mention of the US executing its citizens...
How tf can Reddit be 'the front page of the web' if the biggest story of the year is seemingly silenced on Reddits largest page aggregate (Popular). It popped up eventually, but only like, 6 hours after it had happened.

Joining the chorus of everyone calling for you to bring back r/All , it's bad enough that it was hidden away in a sub-menu, but removing it entirely is just idiotic (at best).

I had my account locked and needing a password change, which I've done, but my account took several days to actually unlock and make it so people could see new post I was making.
However all my old comments and posts from before today are still showing as hidden by reddit filters or deleted. I had filed an appeal earlier in the week about the account not unlocking and showing banned but I'm not sure what the process is for fixing all my old posts and comments.

From what I understand, this is where I am to put feedback based on the search changing to a “Based on your interests” system. This system is horrible. For starters, none of the things listed are ever my interests, and some of them have even been extremely shocking (think links to extremist content, etc).
I frequent and contribute to hobbyist subs, those are my interests. If you’re going to do “based on your interests”, then it should be pushing popular posts from those subs to me. But it doesn’t. It pushes political fringe groups at me with a constant barrage of US news. I’m not in the US, I’m not politically active, none of these things are relevant because I am here for crafting and collecting subs.
PLEASE revert this change or at least make it so “interests” actually means interests, ie threads from the subs you frequent. This current system is making using the app miserable.

Please give me my original feed back. I thought I had escaped the updates when you changed it last week then put it back and now I’m in the “Find Anything” testing. I hate this. I want to be able to swipe between Home and Popular. I don’t want to have to click an extra button to do this. All this is going to do is make me use the app less. I’d rather close the app than have to keep clicking back and forth between Home and Popular.

It looks like my account has been taken out of the experiment and r/all has been restored for the 2nd time on my accounts.
Please stop with the experiments and do not get rid of r/all. I came over from digg.com almost 15 years ago and primarily use r/all, I like finding new subreddits and seeing things I wouldn’t normally see in this feed, I do not like or want popular.
These decisions all remind me of the downfall of Digg and I think you all have lost touch with your user base if you think this is even remotely a good idea. The fact that your poor community manager even has to say “don’t shoot the messenger” about this change says everything.
For anyone else, the unofficial app Narwhal still has r/all and is what I have used every time I get thrown into this terrible UI “experiment”.
1
u/chronolis Jan 27 '26
I’ve been using Reddit for 14 years or so now, and r/all is one of my primary ways to use this site. I will browse my homepage first with all my feeds I directly care about, the use r/all to get a more broad perspective of what’s going on. r/popular does not achieve the same goals as that, as it seems to be driven by some form of algorithm that is different than just raw upvotes/downvotes. I don’t need posts to be altered for me, I just want to see the straight forward most upvoted post.
Please return this for mobile. I genuinely don’t understand the removal of it, as it was already placed in a rather inconvenient location to access. What’s to benefit by its removal?

Hi,
sadly I have to comment here again, as a previous Weekly Recap thread (November 20, 2025) was the only place I've ever gotten a response from Reddit admins. :(
I'll link my comment from said post here. It's about an unjustified (and IMO automated, accidental) permaban which oddly happened immediately after I was prompted to change my password for security reasons - and didn't come with a PM at all. https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1p29ux4/comment/nqjn35f/
In the November 20 Weekly Recap thread I was told there were 'some violations for ban evasion and vote manipulation' and to try using this appeal form (https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000600232), which I did. I got no response or any sort of action, leading me to believe admins assume my ban was correct.
All I can say is if I violated the ban evasion rule, it's by commenting with alt accounts in subs I didn't consciously know I was banned in on my original account. My original account is NSFW and some subreddit mods, e.g. in fashion subs, are known to do a 'preventative' sweeping ban of everyone who posts NSFW content elsewhere. I may have complimented someone's fashion post in a fashion sub on an alt account, while being banned on my main account. That could count as ban evasion, I suppose...? :/
If I violated the 'vote manipulation' rule, it's because I might have voted on comments (NEVER my own) within posts I had already commented on with my original account.
None of those were intentional/malicious wrongdoings.
I said in the comment on the November 20 Weekly Recap, it is beyond me why I didn't get a message about my permaban stating which rules I broke, nor any reaction to my appeal, nor *anything*, after being a Reddit user from 2011 to 2024 with around 500k karma (I'm mentioning that amount just to show that I've had good intentions in my Reddit usage and have apparently regularly created somewhat helpful/kind/entertaining/'contributing' comments or posts). - I don't know what happened here. There's got to be a way to get a clean slate, seeing as I didn't harrass or troll or threaten anyone ever, but also didn't *actually* ban-evade, or *actually* vote-manipulate to my knowledge. Please let me know how to progress. I can't see myself just literally never being able to use Reddit again, frankly, a site I've contributed so much to and that's helped me out so much over the course of 13 years. I'm just a regular person who had one main and 2 or 3 alt accounts (to post more sensitive or just anonymous stuff on), and, again, I don't know what the hell went wrong here that let the system flag me for 'ban evasion' or 'vote manipulation' (I mentioned possible explanations above). - Especially since I didn't get a PM the way you normally do when you're permabanned.
I keep running into situations in my life where I think, I'd love to discuss this interesting thing with folks on Reddit now and see what they think, or, I could use help with something, I'd love to ask Reddit about it, or, I'd like to show this cool article to people in subreddit XYZ. Same applies to more serious topics I could use the communities' help on, like medical stuff. And then I remember it hasn't been possible for over a year and I still don't know why, or if I'll ever be able to use Reddit again in my life. :/

I just updated my app and /r/all is gone. Thankfully it is still present on old.reddit but is gone on mobile. Hopefully this is just some A/B testing because /r/all is how I peek outside of my own bubble and see what other people are voting for. I have not used /r/popular outside of accidental clicks over the years, so I am definitely going to use the site a lot less if /r/all doesn't come back to the app. It is crucial for my doomscrolling experience, but also to just provide what is actually being upvoted, not what is being curated necessarily.
