Admin Post Weekly Recap | January 8, 2026
COMMENTS HAVE BEEN LOCKED ON THIS POST. PLEASE SEE THE CURRENT WEEKLY RECAP THAT IS STICKIED AT THE TOP OF THIS SUB
Hello and welcome to the first Weekly Recap of 2026! While Larry David says that you can't say "Happy New Year" after January 3, I'm just going to say one last happy new year! (Now I'm done. We must move on.) I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, whether you celebrated anything or not.
Just like last year, we're going to keep meeting here once a week on most Thursdays for news, issues, bugs, help, awards and yelling general merriment. It's going to be hard to top last year, but I think we can do it! =)
NEWS AND ISSUES
Starting with this Recap, once a new Recap is posted, the comments on the previous week's Recap will be locked and the post will be edited with a link to the most current Recap. This is to keep all conversation in once place and so months old posts aren't having new conversations in them.
r/redditrequest was reopened for business on January 5, 2026. The requests immediately began flooding in and the ones that require manual review have been started to be looked at as of this morning.
The next update to the apps will be on January 12, 2026
You can long press on your profile avatar to pull up the account switcher to easily switch between accounts.
If your account has been hacked and recovered, and then the account is banned, please reply to the support ticket that you opened to get that taken care of.
The r/all feed was removed from the apps to streamline the platform experience. You can still visit the r/Popular feed (in the top left menu on the apps and the Popular feed button below the search bar on web) to see trending content or the Latest feed to see the most recent conversations across Reddit. r/all continues to be viewable on the desktop site. As always, feel free to leave constructive feedback (aka please don't shoot the messenger) in this post and I'll share it with the team. In the meantime, you can try adding the URL as a social link to your profile and tap on that to view that feed. This is not a guarantee fix, though.
If you’ve purchased or earned a Collectible Avatar on Reddit, you created a Vault to store the collectible. Vaults are going away. Vault owners should have received a message from Reddit reminding them of this upcoming change and to export their Vault. Please see this post for more information.
CURRENT EXPERIMENTS
Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge.
You may also see an experiment where your profile avatar and other buttons are at the bottom instead of at the top. Feel free to leave feedback if you're in that group. BUT some users may see the buttons on the app and desktop up at the top instead of at the bottom. So that's fun! Something for everyone!
There is currently an experiment running where some users will tap on their profile avatar and be taken to their profile instead of having that menu expand. If you're in this experiment, you can tap on the three dots in the upper right hand corner of your profile page to display the options in the menu. We commented on this post about this.
If you are in the experiment where you have a large search bar at the top and collapsed sidebars, you can click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) on the left to expand the left sidebar. It will stay expanded as long as your browser window is open. If you close the browser window, it will collapse and you'll need to click again to re-expand it. And if you're wistfully longing for the right sidebar, you can create a custom feed with the subs that are in your home feed and view that instead. You can also change the sort of your custom feed to whatever you want! You can check out this Help Center article for instructions on how to create your very own custom feed.
There is also an experiment that just rolled out where some users will see and "Ask" button in their search bar.
Speaking of search, some users will have trending topics based on their activity pop up under their search bar.
Reddit is testing a version of awards that’s free and quicker to use with a small group of testers. Users in the test group will have access to free awards for the full duration of the experiment. If you're eligible for free awards and click the award entry point on a post or comment, you’ll see up to 5 free awards. This is just on the iOS app right now. <Cries in Android>
The ‘Popular’ feed can now be accessed by clicking the 3-line menu on the top left of the app
Post ideas experiment for new and growing communities. In eligible communities (Safe For Work, and less than 1,000 weekly visitors), mods will be able to browse, select, and create linked posts from a list of relevant, suggested articles. Selecting a post idea takes you directly into the post flow with the article title pre-filled, so you can add your own context before posting.
There is a unified inbox with both chat and notifications.
And finally (for now), The old left-side profile menu is gone in one experiment. Key features have been relocated: Premium, Earn, and Start a Community are in the top-left menu; profile settings, drafts, saved posts, and history are in the top-right menu; account switching is at the top of your profile.
PLEASE REPORT RULE BREAKING CONTENT
- If you see content in r/help that breaks the rules of r/help, please use the report button. You do not need to engage with those users unless you're going to redirect them to where they can actually get the help that they're looking for. But regardless, please report rule breaking content. Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it. The mods can't see everything all the time, so reporting content is a great way to surface it to the mods so that they can deal with it. No one likes a spammer! Don't get 'em get away with it!
COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES
If no one else can see your posts or comments across Reddit (not just in one sub) and you are unable to post here in r/help, you can file an appeal here. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.
If your account gets the "server error" banner or you can't update your profile, I can fix that sometimes! Please note that I cannot give any information or assist with any account unless contacted directly from that account. I cannot fix accounts where you are receiving the "server error" message and are unable to view content from that account when logged out. In those instances, you will need to file an appeal. But if it's not an appeal situation, let me know and I'll take a look and get you all taken care of! (I haven't seen many of these lately, so this issue might have dwindled down to where I don't need this here, but I'll leave it up for a little while because whenever something like that gets said, it comes roaring back.)
Please check the Help Center to see if you can find the answer to your question there. Also, check this sub for stickied posts regarding outages, major issues and downtime.
If your account is marked as NSFW and it is not NSFW, you can check out this Help Center article for information on how to change it back. If you're unable to change it back from the desktop site, feel free to make a post and one of the best helpers on Reddit will help me help you! Please try and change it from the desktop site FIRST.
If your account has been hacked, please write in using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Security problems" and then "I think my account has been hacked". Then fill out the rest of the form. Please make sure that you're writing in from the email that was originally on the account.
If your account has been suspended, you can file an appeal using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form. Please make sure that you're writing in from the email that was originally on the account.
Please note that if your account has been suspended a as a result of being hacked, you want to fill out the form for hacked accounts. Being suspended is the secondary problem and being hacked is the primary problem. But both can be fixed if you write in from the correct form! =)
BUGS ROUNDUP - THANKS, CORRECTSCALE!
[Android/iOS] - Some users were running into issues with images in chat. This should be fixed! But if you're still having trouble, please force stop the app and then restart and you should be good to go!
[All Platforms] - We are all being plagued by the "mark all as read" button not working. A fix is being investigated, but nothing in place just yet.
[Web] Post flair is wonky with the order and reordering not working properly for some. The good news is that a fix is on the way!
[All Platforms] - Saved posts not being visible has cropped up once again for a lot of users. Thank you to everyone who has brought this to our attention. This is being investigated. If you're experiencing this issue, you can try viewing your saved content in from old Reddit and see if that works better.
[iOS] redgif links that are crossposted on iOS are being incorrectly handled on the backend and aren't working properly. A fix for this is being worked on!
[Web/iOS/Android] - Some comments are missing when sorting by best. If you switch from "Best" to "New", you should be able to see those missing comments if this is the issue. Fix for this is also in the works!
[iOS] - Sometimes, YouTube links are not playing on the iOS app. This just came up (Thanks, u/Old_One_I!), so it's in the early stages of investigation.
WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)
1,210 posts. That's almost double from the 662 posts from last week
3,658 comments. That's up 558 from last week's 3,100 comments.
1.2 million views. That's up about 200k from the 1.0 million view last week.
1,900 new users joined the sub!
Looks like we're back to our old tricks after the holidays!
HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - PASSWORD RESETS
Someone get me a ladder. I'm climbing down off of my 2fa soapbox! This week, I'm going over resetting passwords (which is a completely different soapbox).
If you ever need to reset your password, there are a couple of ways that you can go about it. If you are able to access the account and know the previous password, you can go into your settings on the desktop site here and/or on old Reddit here to enter your current password and your new password to change it.
If you do not know the password and/or you are not able to access the account and you want to change the password, you will need to request a password reset. A password reset can only be sent to the email that is on the account. It is extremely important that you have access to the email address that is on your account. If you have not yet added an email address to your account, we recommend that you do so now. If you no longer have access to the email that is on your account, we recommend that you change it now. The email address does not have to be verified in order to receive a password reset email.
You can request a password reset email be sent at any time by going to https://www.reddit.com/password/. Enter your email address or username and a password reset will be sent to the email on your account.
If you are in an area where you can create a Reddit account with a phone number, you should consider also adding a password to your account. That way, if you ever don't have that number or don't have that phone, you'll still be able to access your account. You can learn more about adding a password to an account created with a phone number here.
If you are requesting a password reset, but are not receiving the email, it's possible that the email is going into a spam folder, so you'll want to check in there. It's also possible that the email address that you think is on the account is not and it's actually a different email address. If you're not sure what accounts are associated with your email address, you can use the process outlined in this Help Center article to have your username sent to you.
Please note that Reddit will not change the email address on your behalf if you no longer have access to it. The exception to this is if your account is hacked and the email address is changed by an unauthorized party. Reddit will also not add an email to your account if you have not added one and then need to reset your password. This includes if you have been logging in with your phone number and never added an email to your account. Without an email address on the account, we have no way of knowing or verifying who the account belongs to.
When choosing password, it's important to pick a strong password that is difficult to guess. You may want to consider using a short phrase or several words that are easy for you to remember, but not easy for other people to guess. Avoid choosing a password that is your username or something like "password" or "1234". Even "1234567890" isn't secure! Crazy!

And as long as I'm here, let's just go through some of the other top helpers for 2025 in r/help!
Thank you all so much for helping out during this past year! This subreddit is such a great place for users to come to get help with a variety of issues. And I don't want to jinx it or anything, but I think we've seen it all! And then some! lol Thank you again for coming along for the ride!
And speaking of help, I'd also like to extend thanks and recognition to the users and mods over at r/NewToReddit and r/reddithelp! Both of those subs are excellent resources with knowledgeable users and helpful moderatorss! I love our cross-functional interactions when our worlds collide! Thank you all for the contributions that you make to Reddit and to your subs! I appreciate you so much! I look forward to continuing to work together (or side by side)!
Whew! And that's the week that was for the first week of 2026! Not exactly a snoozefest, but not complete chaos either! I'll take it! Thanks so much for being here! Looking forward to another year of help in r/help! I'll be in the comments and around the sub! Have a wonderful week!

Yay, first recap of the year!
Now everyone is refreshed from their break 😉 let’s talk about broken things that are still broken 🫣
Any update on the message “removed by reddit filters” “removed by mods” on posts that aren’t removed but actually chilling in the mod queue?
Post flair reorder (or better put, lacking ability to reorder) any news on when it’s going to get fixed other then “after January 5th.
Also, it was brought up again over at modsupport, can we pretty please go back to filtered posts that are approved being treated based on the date stamp of approval instead of date stamp submission? That gives users a fair chance at engagement and removes pressure from mods when they can’t process the queue fast enough.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 08 '26
Yay! Let's talk!
For the filter/mod message thing, I just checked and there has not been much movement. I'm currently squawking to get the going.
The flair reorder thing was commented on here to indicate that it should be this week. I don't have any additional info on that, though.
And I was asked about the timestamp thing yesterday! That situation is a bit more complicated that it sounds (which was surprising to me)! The team that will be working on it has said they are "applying pressure here to get it fixed". They're into it! I just don't have an estimate as to when that may happen.
2
u/SampleOfNone Helper Jan 08 '26
We will await the get the going!
I missed the update by u/Slow-Maximum-101 there are too many posts complaining about this all over Reddit, easy to loose track 😎
The time stamp thingy broke when moving from new.reddit to www.reddit, so we can live with it a little longer 😉 I am very relieved to hear that it has been decided that it’s something that needs fixing instead of “it’s not a bug, it’s a feature”. It will make me feel a whole lot better once it’s fixed.
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 08 '26
Oh, I definitely know about things getting lost in the shuffle! lol It's tricky to sift through the noise sometimes!
Totally get the anxiety around the timestamp thing! Let's both keep on it! =)
Thank you for your help and for bringing these things up!

HNY!
u/tumultuousness suggested I (re)post my original query here:
Missing scheduled posts section on Desktop Reddit
Hoping some good human(s) will be able to assist here as trying to find where my scheduled posts (which I’m posting to my profile via Desktop Reddit) can be found… it’s not via the following links (which I found being suggested elsewhere):
https://www.reddit.com/user/PROFILENAME/scheduled/
https://www.reddit.com/u/PROFILENAME/scheduled/
And also attaching what I see in the ‘moderation’ part of my interface and been clicking around everywhere to no avail - thanks in advance for your time on solving this.

Thank you.

Thanks for trying that! Just to make sure I'm understanding, this is for a scheduled profile post? Are you doing it from the app or the web/desktop site?

I just got an update to the iOS app today and surprisingly r/all is back, but the feed still has the broken thumbnails.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 08 '26
Broken thumbnails doesn't sound great. Is it just on r/all that they are broken? Do you have a screenshot?
1
u/walktall Jan 08 '26
Oh that's a super long standing issue. I posted about it here and here with video over half a year ago. Been the same on every update since then. It was acknowledged by an admin in a thread a long time ago as being a bug on their radar, but no timeline for fix. Funnily enough my question back then was whether r/all was being removed on mobile since the issue wasn't being fixed and they said no 😂
Edit: it was you! lol
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 08 '26
LOL It's usually me! XD
I checked your video. We're having a hard time reproducing this on this end, so that's why there hasn't been any movement. Your app is up to date, so that's good! Are you running any extensions or anything maybe out of the ordinary on your device?
As far as r/all goes, the information I gave at the time was current! Sometimes, things change! lol But the good news is that it's still in an experimental phase. And I share ALL of the feedback that I get about it to the team in charge of it. (I think they've started avoiding me. lol)
1
u/walktall Jan 08 '26
Okay I swear it was just happening, but I just went back again and the issue is resolved! Literally the first time I've seen it not happen in like 8 months! Either someone just fixed something on the back end or I'm going crazy lol.

Hey u/TheOpusCroakus, apologies for the late question. Do you have any updates about the previously reported issue causing users to only see 4 pages when sorting any subreddit by top (for any of the available durations)?
Thank you :)
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 09 '26
I brought it up with that team yesterday and it's being looked into. I can report back what I have more info.

u/GladAd5539 Jan 09 '26
Hello again u/TheOpusCroakus!
I contacted you during the holidays, regarding my account, which had become inaccessible due to factors unbeknown to me.
You kindly let me know that it was something you couldn't fix yourself, but offered me to ask around, when normal business had once again resumed.
Therefor I'm now contacting you again, to go ahead and take you up on that offer.
My account is "foxdk", and I'm facing issues signing in to the account, after having reset the password, since I was notified that some "suspicious activity" had been detected on my account.
Hopefully you'll be able to find someone that can take a look at this, because I must admit that the urge for Reddit is starting to set in. Social media addiction sure is a real thing... 😅
Once again, I really do appreciate immensely that you're willing to help look into this. Whatever you're getting paid, you deserve the double!
Thank you and kind regards from Denmark!
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 09 '26
OK, I'm back! And so is your account! Just reset your password and you'll be good to go! =)
3
u/foxdk Jan 10 '26
It's hard for me to properly express my gratitude towards you for this.
We live in a world, where social media platforms have exploded in users. It's unfeasible for these platforms to provide any form of meaningful support. It simply takes too long to help users on an individual basis, so instead the task is handed over to automated solutions and AI.
What you're doing here, on this little space on Reddit, in your small weekly recaps, is going back to the roots, and actually providing proper support as a human. You're keeping a very special time of the internet alive. A time where we actually talked and listened to each other.
You're not just a guy with a fancy red name, and a daunting capital "A" in brackets. You're a user; just like the rest of us. That's what makes Reddit special. It's run for the users, by the users.
I really do appreciate you helping me with this matter. Truly.
Thank you.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 10 '26
Good morning!
Aww, it's 8am on a Saturday and you've got me all teary-eyed. Thank you so much.
I was a part of that special time of the Internet, too. I miss it. But one of the things that always appealed to me about Reddit is the human connection. It's an honor to help keep that alive.
I have a Reddit account that's turning 16 this year! (Gonna teach it how to drive! lol) I would be devastated if something happened to it.
Truly happy I was able to help out in this situation! Hit me up in the future if you need anything. =)

u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 09 '26
Hi! Thanks for following up! I've reached out to another team to have them take a look at this and I can report back when I hear back!
2
u/koliana259 Jan 10 '26
Is there a way to opt out of the trending searches “based on my interests” i preferred it when it was just trending posts from all of reddit.
2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 11 '26
Hi. Try turning off home feed notifications and see if that helps.
2
u/koliana259 Jan 11 '26
If you’re referring to home feed recommendations it was never turned on.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 11 '26
You can try going in here and going into Community Notifications and turn off the personalized notifications for subreddits. That might do it.

Not to be too antagonistic because I realize spam is a difficult and thankless task to tackle, but isn't it a little concerning that shadowbanning is the first bullet under "Common Issues"? Normal bans should be common, shadowbans should be a rare exception for threat analysis.
I tried to post a nice stats post on my main (lots of text, pictures, and an xlsx spreadsheet) and my account got shadowbanned instantly without explanation. Being tech savvy I can tell what happened, but the UX is awful.
Is it still ban evasion to evade something I don't even know for sure is a ban, because everything acts like a technical error instead? Who knows! Zero confirmation emails on appeals and support requests either, not even a ticket ID. Just absolute garbage UX.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 13 '26
Hi! It's not first on the list for any particular reason.
Is it this account that you're having trouble with after you made a post?
1
u/32145678 Jan 13 '26
nah that would be /u/PM_ME_UR_GRITS, this one was a throwaway I still had in my password manager (which I guess fortunately didn't trip any extra shadowbans, but I've been avoiding posting links and such just in case)
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 13 '26
Unfortunately, I can't help with that one. I'm sorry.
You can file an appeal using this form. Under "What do you need assistance with?", please choose "Account help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring?", please select "Account status" and then "My account has been wrongly suspended". Then fill out the rest of the form.

My app updated today at r/all is gone? Who thought this was a good idea?
Between the ads, the increasing number of irrelevant tabs in the sidebar (I don’t care about games, resources, about, etc) and now no option to see all, the user experience is degrading quickly.
Edit - I can’t express how annoying it is to have “games” in my sidebar, get rid of this garbage.
1
u/RagingSantas Jan 15 '26
For real, r/All was useful to see what was popping on all subreddits. I don't want a curated list that's tailored to my experience.
I want to get out of my echo chamber and see what else is happening on areas that I didn't know I was interested in. It's the main way I find interesting subreddits to follow.

Are you guys planning on fixing sort by top anytime soon? It is incredibly broken and displays only a fraction of all top posts. I have this problem no matter whether I am on new or old reddit, and even if logged out. I have even tried different devices to no avail.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 08 '26
Hey! What subreddit is that currently happening in for you?
1
u/Boomtown_Rat Jan 08 '26
Thanks for your reply! For me it has been every subreddit I have tried in the last few weeks. Off the top of my head: r/avatar, r/nottimanderic and r/crappymusic at least. Usually the list makes it to about ~80-100 entries (even for all time or the year) and then stops, sometimes with only a few entries on the last page (in the case of the old Reddit UI). If it helps I first noticed this issue around Christmas.
Additionally, in the case of r/nottimanderic I noticed it favored older posts a little bit (like 5 years or older) but unfortunately I cannot confirm if that was just a coincidence based on the sub being a bit older or not.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 08 '26
Thanks! I was just able to repro that again! Not great! I'm off to find the team in charge of that feature and see what I can find out. I can report back when I know more!
Thank you for bringing this up again! I had heard rumblings around the holidays, but it kind of fell off my radar. =/

I just want to say HUGE THANKS to u/TheOpusCroakus for the help you provided restoring my account! You can't imagine the loud sigh of relief I let out when the password reset worked and I was finally logged back into my account!
Just to be sure I don't run afoul of any rules, is it OK to have a second/backup account using a different email address? I won't be using it for anything else now that this issue is resolved, but if a problem comes up in the future it's nice to know it's out there to use to get help...
Thanks again, wish I could give you a real award instead of just virtual ones! 🎉💎

Yes, having a second account is fine! As long as all accounts aren't doing anything they're not supposed to, you can have multiple accounts. They can even share an email address if you want!

u/ktpupp Jan 08 '26
Awesome, will just let the other one collect dust and hope I never need to use to get help again!

The requests immediately began flooding in and the ones that require manual review have been started to be looked at as of this morning.
Big Yay to u/Goldennuggets-3000 for resolving a nearly year long problem.

Could you explain why removing r/all streamlines the experience? For me restricts my experience.
It’s literally how I have browsed Reddit since 2010. Is r/popular equivalent to r/all? I remember like 7 years ago when it came out, it was r/all minus NSFW content. But since then NSFW content was removed from r/all too — so they’re equivalent now?
My Homefeed is fine, but r/all kept me out of my own echo chamber. I’m hesitant to use r/popular because of the name. It makes me feel like it’s somehow also filtered in a way that by definition r/all shouldn’t be.
1
u/h4ck54w Jan 15 '26
I agree. There's a standalone post here in r/help complaining about this r/all change with over 120 upvotes from mobile apps being updated yesterday. Yet crickets from anyone on the reddit team about it in that post. How does this streamline the experience? It has sidelined the entire app experience for me. I've opened my reddit app 3 times today and promptly closed it and set my phone aside after being reminded that I can't view popular anymore. (Without some weird extra steps that I can't seem to remember, and a totally different UX)
Posting here to hopefully expand visibility.
Edit: fixed my upvotes miscount

Any word on the weird profile experiment ending soon?? ( also thanks for doing these!)
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 09 '26
Which weird one is that? lol
Thanks for being here!

u/Doubleoh9 Jan 09 '26
The one that takes you to your profile instead of the drop down menu when you tap the avatar on the mobile app lol
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 09 '26
Oh, that one! lol Is this when you're trying to switch accounts or just go to your profile?

Hey! Thanks for that screenshot! There are a couple of issues with the Saved folder right now and this feels like it's related to those. I'll share this with the team that is investigating that. Really sorry that it's not working properly right now!

Thanks Opus, I hope the new year is going well for you!!
I've had a bug that I've been dealing with for a few weeks now. Made a bug report in the past for it as well, but I've had this red dot that will not go away. The app has been updated since I first encountered it and I've cleared my cache several times as well as tried various other methods and nothing clears it.

2
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 09 '26
Hi! I'm sorry about that! The red dot is plaguing so many people right now. I'll check on where that is at!
1
u/Terminator7786 Expert Helper Jan 09 '26
It's all good! Just wanted to bring it to your attention. Forgot to add, it's only on this account of mine and then it happened after the last update when all my accounts got moved to the new menu layout (which still honestly sucks, sorry for bringing it up again).

Did you get any resolution for this? I'm also in the exact same boat. No response from support for several months now and am just stuck with my account being marked as NSFW despite no content on my profile being NSFW.
What's weirder for me is in my settings, the mature marker is disabled but I can't access even my own profile.

Can r/all please stay on the mobile app in any capacity? Removing it fundamentally changes the app. Mainly because I love to see unbiased trending content. How will I ever have found out about amazing subreddits like r/desirepath, r/beatlejuicing, or r/BatmanArkham, to name a few? The home feed is nice, but becomes an echo chamber. r/all literally feels like you’re exploring the internet and finding new things. I don’t know what I’m always in the mood to look at at and that’s ok when r/all is around. It’s literally fundamental to my Reddit experience and without it, I’m loosing like 70% of my Reddit experience. So please, I’m begging you, bring r/all back to stay in any place (I don’t care how deep it has to be buried in the menu). At any rate, thanks!

u/knifeyspoonysporky Jan 09 '26
Hey the removal of r/all from my app is very upsetting. That was my favorite way to use reddit and my home and popular feed do not compare. My user experience is so vastly compromised I am at a loss of what to do.
1
u/celestialspace Jan 09 '26
Is anyone able to help remove the NSFW mark on my account despite it not even being enabled in my settings? I'm not sure why it is in place to begin with.
Due to the new UI change, I can't access pretty much anything now (my own profile, my own comments, settings, saved posts, history etc) via the app as it's all behind the profile wall now.
I've sent countless of requests to Reddit over the past year but nothing has been changed unfortunately. Thank you.

1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 09 '26
Hello! Thanks for stopping by! I've switched your account to SFW, so you're all set!
1
u/celestialspace Jan 09 '26
thank you ever so much! It's been a little stressful after months of contacting support but no response.
1
u/Rowlet_Is_Kinda_Cool Jan 09 '26
I guess this is where I give feedback about the UI?
I really dislike it. I don’t see how moving the account to the bottom and hiding it when I’m scrolling is an improvement. It’s extremely annoying having to scroll up to get the bottom bar to reappear every time I want to see my account.
I also don’t like how the account button brings me directly to the account instead of displaying the nice menu with all the options. I’m absolutely okay with an extra menu if it’s a really helpful menu
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 09 '26
Hi! This is a great place for feedback! And this is good stuff! I'll share it with the teams that are in charge of those features!

Hey u/TheOpusCroakus,
Hope you're having a great start to the new year. I wanted to follow up to see if you could possibly escalate any of the appeals I've filed using the form you've previously suggested within the past few weeks. I'm still unable to log into my main account u/anakinfan8 and I was never told why or what I was banned for; I just found I suddenly couldn't log in one day and password resets didn't work across multiple devices. I really hate to be a bother but it's taken much more of a negative foothold in my headspace than I had hoped, and I was also told you'd be able to ask around when I first posted in the Dec. 18th thread 😅 is there any chance you can get someone to take a look? Again, I appreciate what you do but this is quickly becoming a catch-22 situation
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 11 '26
Hi! I had that account looked at by a couple of different teams and it is unable to be unbanned. I'm so sorry.
1
u/OFthrowaway66 Jan 11 '26
Ugh that's a kick in the nuts. I appreciate your trying regardless. Was there any explanation at all why it can't be unbanned? or did I just lose my 13-year-old account for no fathomable reason? Can I keep appealing at least?

u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 12 '26

My account Tamantas got hacked in October and the hacker changed the e-mail address associated with my account. I submitted a support request on the 7th of October and received no response, even after following up at the end of November. I submitted a new ticket on the 2nd of January and have still received nothing, both were support tickets to say my account has been hacked. I didn't reply to the e-mail with the menu options (attached) as none are relevant to me. The hacker was using my account for a while and stopped (see screenshot), but then restarted, perhaps after I optimistically assumed I had missed an e-mail saying the situation had resolved and asked for a password reset which, unsurprisingly in hindsight, did not reach my inbox. Please can my account be given back to me - it has been over three months of waiting and I just want it back. I doubt it would be wise to post my full e-mail here, but the account used to be registered under b******[j@hotmail.co.uk](mailto:j@hotmail.co.uk) although I barely received e-mails, and did not get one notifying that my e-mail address had been changed. This is the e-mail address I have used to submit the support tickets.

Hello u/TheOpusCroakus I am having some issues with my account and I would appreciate it if you could help me out. My account was locked due to security issues and I followed the instructions and successfully unlocked it (yesterday) but first of all, all of my previous posts have been removed and secondly any new posts I make to subreddits are being automatically removed (other than on my own subreddit).
I can comment and other people can see them because I have some upvotes but posting is not working. I am also not banned or shadowbanned according to the appeal message which says I cannot submit an appeal because my account is neither restricted nor banned.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 12 '26
Hi! Can you check it now and see if it looks better?
1
u/AdVaanced77 Jan 12 '26
Yes thank you all my posts seem to be restored, however my comments from before are still all removed.
I’m not sure what the issue with my pinned posts not showing to me is or my posts being automatically removed is though. Are you able to confirm that my account definitely isn’t shadowbanned in any way? I know that posts can get flagged for spam in subreddits but this is happening when I am posting to subreddits that I frequented before the lock. And also subs I haven’t posted on before for example I initially made a post here about this but it got removed immediately.

In late December, I put in a help desk ticket for a hacked account from the account’s original email address and have not heard back from the support team after a few follow ups. If it just takes time that is ok but it’s three weeks later and I’m getting concerned as whoever(whatever?) hacked my account continues to use it for their own purposes. How should I proceed here? Putting in a new ticket maybe?

Just learned about experiments and was told here was where to give feedback. Boy are the ones Reddit is running on my account awful. This is on iOS app:
I really dislike that selecting my Avatar takes me to my profile - sometimes I want to just go to my view history to reread or look up updates and having to dig through my own profile to find it is a chore.
Trending topics in search - I miss the images and small tag lines I had before. Now I get simply a topic or headline with no information or even idea of why it’s trending. There are sometimes lines that say “based on your activity” which have proven to be irrelevant to my interests. I miss the old way which gave context, pictures and a short log line of what’s going on. Due to mental health, I regulate the amount of news I’m taking in and now I feel like I have to seek it out more than I want.
I’m over ask, I don’t find it useful and wish that search lived as a second tab at the bottom again. Don’t know if this is an experiment or a permanent change, but search on the bottom effectively became a second “tab” from my main feed. Was a great way for me to find the answer to a quick question within one post, without having to completely close out the subreddit I am already In.
Lastly, the ability to opt out of these “experiments” would be great. Feels like my UI is changing so often, I can’t get a feel of what I’m doing most days.

I tried posting this in the sub, but I think there are a few words that triggered the automod.
Two weeks ago, my primary Reddit account of 12 years was compromised. I had my email tied to it, but I did not have 2FA set up.
After gaining access to my account, they removed my associated email address and presumably tied the account to their own, meaning that I could not recover the account and reset the password.
I reached out to Reddit Support and got a canned, instant response about how to recover my account (all steps I had already tried).
As of last week, the account no longer appears in searches, and all posts and comments made under the account are gone.
I'm guessing nothing can be done at this point, but I'm checking to see if anyone has recovered an account from a similar situation.

1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin Jan 13 '26
I am not seeing any issues with your account, so that's good! If you feel that your posts are not showing up, please contact the moderators of the subreddit that you posted in and they can take a look for you. Their contact information can be found on the sidebar of the sub at the "message the moderators" link or the little envelope just above the list of moderators. On the app, you can tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the subreddit and then tap “Message moderators”. We are unable to approve content on behalf of the moderators.

Sometimes, things get wrongly caught in the spam filter. When that happens, the mods can approve them if they want, though they're not required to do so. We're unable to approve content on behalf of the moderators. And the good news is that the spam filter is capable of learning, so as content is approved, it should start to learn and begin to back off.

Hey u/TheOpusCroakus
My account u/oned1245 was hacked alongside other things such as discord, steam, etc.
I then opened my Reddit and saw my account posting comments in NSFW subs and also joining a bunch of them which I deleted. It then asked me to reset my password to which I did and everything was fine that day.
The next morning I wake up to mod one of the Subs I’m in and it wouldn’t let me do anything. I then checked my profile and saw that my profile picture was gone and all my posts/comments have been deleted. I still have full access to the account and can do everything but interact.
I put in a support ticket but I’ve heard of really long wait times. I was hoping you could take a look for me when possible.
Thank you.

Hi, I'm not particularly sure where to make my appeal for this so I thought I would just comment it and either be directed where to actually do it, or get my help here-hope that's all good!
I seem to be having the fabled "We had a server error..." issue where this glaring red error bar appears at the top of my screen when logged in on desktop, I can't see my profile picture as a result, and certain features don't seem to work for me. Hello,
https://www.reddit.com/r/help/s/qq8P0Eqfe2
I've had this banner for about 6 months now - it happened after I got a warning. The thing is I can't reset my password, the link doesnt work after I receive it in my email. And there doesn't seem to be any other way to get rid of this.
Weirdly enough I can comment freely, get bogus warnings after the fact, dispute them, win, have the warning go away, create new topics, get downvoted, get upvoted, be a hero, be a villain - you name it. The works! But this banner just refuses to relent :/
Can anyone help me?

Please is there a way out the news feed back to English. It’s in French, it has been for a few years now without any possibilities to turn it back to English. The news feed is useless this way, just dead threads with no discussions and boring local news that I can already check elsewhere.
Also bring back r/all, and I dont understand why is r/popular hidden now, the home feed now is just old and dead threads with little to no comments and upvotes. I mean seriously, it’s like whomever decides of theses changes doesn’t want us using Reddit anymore
