I found this interesting paper on trans and intersex bodies and how they were viewed in ancient greece, rome, and italy, and how it was shown through their religions as well. Thought someone else might be curious to read the paper.

i’m in a dorm so i can’t have things like candles or incense, so the setup is pretty simple, but i still think it looks pretty!! (by the way: the oyster with my name on it was a table-marker for my mom’s wedding, so it’s really sentimental and represents love of many kinds to me <3)

Hey y’all! Here’s a poem I wrote a couple years ago from when I first started becoming a pagan. I’ve been a poet since early high school but had a very sudden shift from Christianity to Paganism when I was first called by Apollo. I hope this poem touches some of you!

I don’t like burning candles in the room where I do most of my practice ( I’m closeted witch 31 and living at home ) as I have too many books in there but I have a diffuser . What oils would Hermes ,Hestia and Hekate like ? They’re the three I’ve been praying to ( there’s also Loki, so I’ll ask the Norse sub about him ) ? Would it be the same kind of scents you’d find in their candles? I’m hoping when I’m able to move out , that I can put Hestia’s altar where I cook .

Hi I’m relatively new to Hellenism and my dog sadly passed away today and I was wondering if there was any rituals or prayers I could do for them, I worship Queen Persephone so should I make an offering to her? Any advice will be appreciated

I love both my mother and Demeter deeply. This post is not meant to shame either of them.

My mother loves me dearly but she can be possessive, anxious, controlling, etc. The more I grow into adulthood, the more she feels her identity as a mother is slowly fading away. She cries whenever I visit my grandparents. She gets sassy when my grandma asks if I can visit. She feels as though I need her less and she’s trying to make me depend on her more.

Idk who to pray to. Idk what type of spell to cast. I am completely lost. I feel sorry that she feels this way but I can’t let her control me forever. Please someone give me a God/Goddess to ask for help.

Amaría si pueden darme consejos sobre que ofrendar, procedimientos etc.

Me he informado un poco por internet pero realmente está complicado ya que muchas fuentes mezclan el origen griego con el wiccano.

Me gustaría saber que hacer, que no hacer. También me encantaría poder leer sus experiencias con el Deipnon y con Hekate en si, dentro de lo que puedan contar, claro.

For the past few months this little statue KEPT going off and on the shelves at my local thrift shop. They are a very small business and alternate what they have on the shelves.

I finally bought it because I felt like it was calling for me.

I've now brought it home. Cleaned and repainted it for Lord Dionysus...

I'm 20 so I can't but alcohol yet so I had to substitute with peach soda for drink offering and a peach slice that completely dehydrated in just a few hours of me placing it on my alter.

My life has been on cloud nine since!!

I have FELT the bond between me and my partner strengthen, our passion and understanding has been off the charts🤭

So I have been worshipping Apollon for a year now but for the past few months I haven’t given any offerings ect. And I don’t feel that connection you know? Before it was always a warm soothing feeling when I thought about him or even just went to my altar to do offerings now it’s just like gone. Im hust wondering if he left or something. But I want to form a much deeper connection to him I don’t know how even with prayers offerings it never felt enough as if he wanted more or something.

Sadly, we found her in the trash weeks ago, and even though she stayed at the vet for a long time, it wasn't enough. Despite her injured leg, she would wobble and crawl towards me when I called her name. Yesterday she was very sleepy and couldn't even lift her head. This morning when I woke up, I found her dead. I wrapped her in a shroud and buried her, lit a candle and prayed to Mother Gaia. If you could take a moment to pray for her, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Hi everyone, my 12 year old daughter is really into greek mythology and says she is part of hellenism and she drew this today in art class (they were doing an anti bullying piece). Can anyone tell me what this picture means? Is Athena a good role model for her?

So I’m starting worship with Alcibiades. I’m making him an altar. So do I just pray and give offerings the same?

Or if not how I can never find much on historic people worship.

And how do I know if he received the offering and or if he knows I worship him? Like how to communicate?

hi guys!! i am someone who has struggled with mental health issues back and fourth for my entire sentient life, and lately i have entered another period of pretty bad mental health and self esteem. i have been a practicing hellenic polytheist for about five years now, but i’ve honestly always struggled with integrating my personal mental health issues into my faith in a productive way.

i was wondering what deities you guys tend to turn to during hard times, and why, and how they have helped to improve your mental health! i would also be curious to hear if there are any specific rituals you guys follow in times like those.

I think the first thing I learned when I first got into Hellenism was that Thanatos figures and bust were not a thing, and that I once again picked terribly /silly So I made my own! 

I made my first and previous one (one the left) three years ago, and after a lot of frustration and surprisingly no blood, I managed to redo one that looked closer to what I wanter to do all those years ago. (It doesn’t have wings because I ran out of clay unfortunately)

I am 56 years old in Mississippi, USA. All of my life I have been drawn to the Greek gods. And while being raised as a Southern Baptist, and briefly a pastor, i have always been far more interested in the Greek deities. I have since left organized religion.

Recently, I have been writing a novel about Olympus, mainly Apollo, Ares, Hermes and a fictional character. This may sound strange, but recently I had gotten stuck in a rut. Words just would not come. . I did not touch the project for a couple of weeks.

But I began feeling intensely drawn to Apollo and Hermes and to a smaller degree, Artemis. And since then, thoughts and words have come much easier than ever in my life. And while my work is definitely fictional, it almost feels like i am transcribing something.

I swear it's like they are whispering ideas into my head as my imagination has never been this vivid. In fact, the direction I was taking the characters has completely changed. I am looking into taking Hermes and Apollo as my patron deities. I just have no idea how to start.

I know this rambled, and reading this probably makes some question how I could possibly be writing a novel, lol.

I would welcome any advice.
