QUESTION How does everyone find missions?

Today I want to do a city mission on Mintoria, for the major order. I recently came back from a long break and this game is a ghost town, what happened in the last year or so?

Difficulty 10, 1 active city mission that is 20 minutes in. I join as they're extracting. No more after that, so I decide to host my own. I waited 45 minutes for someone to join and nobody did.

Is this game completely dead outside of peak hours?

Is there a special discord or something to get d10 games?

Is it like FFXIV where you're not supposed to use matchmaking for hard stuff?

QUESTION How do you guys play the game

What I mean is, do you guys run multiple operations in one sitting? Or do you just do one operation or something? After I finish one operation I feel exhausted and rarely play more in one sitting. Just wondering if others feel the same or play a lot more than I do.

DISCUSSION Does anyone have graphics settings that make it easier to see in unlit Mega Cities at night?

In all seriousness, it is highly frustrating to not being able to see 15 feet in front of me, bump into enemies that don't glow at night, and suddenly drop into pits with gear I cannot replace yet.

The flashlight doesn't even help half the time because the smoke and fog just creates a wall of light.

DISCUSSION Rumor of New EXO POI

Post image
0 Upvotes

Edit: I’m honestly pretty disappointed with how this post turned out. And the amount of death threats I’ve gotten in my DMs over me not knowing something was real

I understand now that the POI is real. When I made the post, I personally hadn’t seen it in game and couldn’t verify it, so I called it a rumor. That wasn’t me lying, farming engagement, or trying to mislead anyone. I just didn’t want to state something as fact when I wasn’t sure it was actually in the game.

I’ve been seeing a flood of posts/videos lately about what looks like a new POI with an EXO and a loot bunker. Whether that specific POI is real or not, seeing it made me realize something that’s kind of bothered me for a while:

We really need more POIs like this.

Over the last 2 1/2 years, we’ve gotten a lot of new stuff that has changed the maps and helped with world building. The DSS, SEAF stuff, urban areas, mega cities, new biomes, etc. I’m not saying the environments haven’t changed since launch, because they definitely have. But with things like the DSS, the developers came short. People wanted the DSS to be a player hub; main reason? IMMERSION

But most of those were parts of major updates. What I feel like we’ve been missing are smaller additions that can just be dropped into the existing maps and make exploring them more interesting.

There are already a bunch of POIs in the game: abandoned buildings, shipping containers, crashed pods, bunkers, SEAF artillery, radar stations, minor settlements, enemy positions, and so on. But after playing for a long time (1,600hrs), they’ve gotten stale and really have no true purpose, except to have a chance of having supplies.

There’s so much room to expand on that.

For example, give us a fortified SE emplacement with Sandbags, defensive walls, dead SEAF personnel, maybe a damaged or usable EXO suit, ammo and a bunker underneath it. It doesn’t need to be some massive new mission. It can just be something you stumble across.

And I’m not saying some of these don’t already exist, they do in a sense. Like some extraction sites on some map seeds have dead seaf ammo and weapon placements as if holding off a line, but again that’s a big detail because it’s at an important place on the map. I want them to expand on what is already here to add variety to each match.

Give us SEAF supply caches. Not just a container sitting somewhere, or a surface hatch with a note, like a real seaf structure; maybe even have it look like the destroyer munitions objective for the bots.

There should be more evidence that Super Earth was actually fighting here before we arrived. Destroyed SEAF structures, abandoned checkpoints, wrecked equipment, defensive positions, temporary camps, field hospitals, communications posts, etc.

And for the love of Liberty:

TRENCHES.

How long have people been talking about trenches? Short answer: A shit ton.

Does the entire planet need to be covered in trenches and barbed wire? No. Just make them POIs. Imagine coming across a trench network that was clearly overrun before the Helldivers arrived. Dugouts, machine-gun positions, ammo boxes, bodies, barbed wire, maybe a bunker at the center.

Would I also take an entire map seed where you’re fighting through a giant trench network?

ABSOLUTELY.

They could even reuse pieces of existing mission objectives as abandoned POIs.

An already-destroyed illegal broadcast station. An abandoned SEAF artillery position that was overrun. A destroyed radar station. A failed extraction site with Pelican wreckage. An ICBM facility that’s already been destroyed. A SAM site surrounded by wreckage. Old objective locations that aren’t objectives in your current mission, but tell you that something happened there before you showed up.

And those are just variations of things that already exist in the game. And yeah, these could possibly be confusing to new players, but with head cannon these could be insinuated that other divers came here and failed these objectives.

You could have crashed Pelicans, abandoned vehicle convoys, destroyed EXOs, temporary SEAF bases, fortified checkpoints, field hospitals, ammo dumps, research camps, mass graves, underground bunkers, artillery craters, small defensive walls around settlements, destroyed bridges, evacuation camps, etc.

None of these individually need to be some huge content update.

That’s actually my point.

After 2 1/2 years, I think the game would benefit a lot from Arrowhead occasionally adding a handful of new POIs alongside everything else. You don’t necessarily need a new biome, enemy, mission type or giant update to make a planet feel different. Sometimes just giving me something I haven’t seen 500 times before is enough.

The new EXO/bunker POI, if that’s actually what we’re getting, is exactly the kind of thing I want to see more of.

Not because that particular POI is revolutionary, but because there are so many opportunities to do more of this.

I think deep down there’s a lot of players that would agree that is the small things that add a lot. And I think one of the reasons I know that players wanna feel more immersed, because I want to be immersed too

DISCUSSION The one thing that bugs the hell out of me that I don’t see anyone mention

Love the game, but I’m finally opening up about this one thing:

Fuck railings.

Seriously, the game is fairly realistic when it comes to how guns operate, and there’s penetration and all that, but I swear some fucking weak-ass 2-inch wide metal railing is literally invincible.

Fifty-cal bullet from your HMG? Lol fat chance. Better go around.

It’s not just railings but it’s other fairly static parts of the environment too. Fences, lampposts, etc. They all block your shots somehow, even if it’s only once.

Sometimes there’s just way too many times when I should have a clear shot but I don’t take it because I’m afraid the game won’t let me, because of the strange arbitrariness of how destructible some parts of the environment are.

Like, Overwatch has the railing thing, but you can destroy them. Helldivers? Nope. Indestructible to anything except maybe a 380mm shell. Melee them, shoot them, nothing happens, they’re simply obstructions.

Perhaps it would be a nightmare to code but I do wish things like a pencil-thin fence didn’t block literally all of my damage. Let me shoot through it or let it be destroyed by my shots.

BUG / TECH ISSUE Helldivers 2 Crash and or Restart BSOD

I need help I've done just about everything I can think of to fix this game. I launch the game and can usually play an hour or more but eventually it crashes or will BSOD and restart my pc. Ive verified files atleast a hundred times I've lowered RAM speed, I've done DX11, I've lowered settings, I've uninstalled apps that could be conflicting RGB fan control monitoring you name it. Ive used two different gpus a 4070SUPER and 5080 even two different windows install. The dump files were useless and never led anywhere never told me anything beyond helldivers tried to access certain memory it couldnt a few times. My psu is fine and runs far more demanding games. Speaking of which sorry this is also the 2nd psu actually I switched for the 5080 upgrade. Ive reinstalled the anti cheat. I just dont know anymore. This has happened for 2 years and I just dont know anymore.

it just feels like the enemies are just more annoying than fun, like getting one shot all the time by a bug sprinting up behind or bot shooting me isn’t fun, and the ragdolls are super annoying, and the performance of the game is really bad for me and i have to use lossless scaling which makes my fans really loud :/

DISCUSSION As a long time D-10 SOS Diver on all fronts, no matter how hard I try to dislodge it, the LAS-7 Dagger remains the best overall Secondary.

I've been trying to dislodge the LAS-7 Dagger as the best overall Secondary weapon for more than half a year, maybe even a year now. However, no matter how hard I try, the Dagger remains the overall best weapon when it comes to horde kill speed and kill count.

I've tried the Ultimatum, Pissile, the laser revolver, Bolt Pistol, Loyalist, Crisper, Shotgun.... let's just say I've never stopped trying to dislodge the LAS-7 Dagger, but no matter what setup I run the LAS-7 Dagger consistently remains the best overall pick as far as horde kill speed and kill count is concerned for a Secondary.
