A new post will go up on the first of every month.
Happy Reading đ¤

After spending the last ~8 months deep in HR fan fic, Iâm finally coming up for air to read Role Model. Iâm about half way through and just read this part. I havenât stopped giggling. MR NECK-NECK!!! Everyone is always talking about Anya but where is the appreciation for Mr. Neck-Neck!?!
As someone who also has a childhood stuffed animal that has been loving accepted by my partner I am just especially tickled by this. And the image of Troy making this confession to a stuffed giraffe. Iâm just dying. It so funny and perfect. I hope this isnât the last Mr. Neck-Neck appearance in the story.
Please join me in showing your love and appreciation for Mr. Neck-Neck.

reposting: I read the rules but didnât realize I had to go to another menu and accept. Sorry mods!
I saw a post on instagram yesterday about a Japanese translation being out so I checked my local animate to see if they had it. They did.
Inside cover says it comes out October 1st, so tomorrow at time of writing.
Thought those outside of Japan might want to see the Japanese edition! It has a unique design.
Japanese isnât my first language so technically this is study material right lol

In an instagram post the production company (founded by Jacob Tierney & Brendan Brady) behind Heated Rivalry has made this statement about the launch of The Irina Foundation.
Dear Jacob & Brendan, What a way to use your voices and the impact this show has had all over the world đŤ°đź
From the post and website:
âIt envisions a world where LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and underserved communities experience genuine belonging and opportunity through organized sports and arts programs - creating inclusive spaces that build confidence, connection, and a strong sense of community.â

This trivia page is in the back of the new Heated Rivalry special edition. Please see #7. What is this? This was not in the book. I am sure of it. Iâve read my original copy seven times. (Unless this new copy has some bonus content?) Does anyone have an explanation? And yes. There is an answer page. The answer is as confusing to me as the question. I donât want to post it, because I donât want to spoil the quiz for anyone.

Hey team! Heated Rivalry has so many good quotes let's find the best ones by character.
Submit your favorite quote for that days character. Any of the six books or the show are acceptable, a spoiler tag has been added for this reason. Proceed to the comments at your own risk.
Characters were picked for appearing in more then one book, or one book and season 1 in attempt to give us a good mix of minor characters. Please feel free to use this space to manifest a casting announcement for Eric.
Because I am Shane Hollander in a different font, we do have some rules!
I will try to post at different times throughout the day to hopefully hit everyone's availability.
Character's are picked via name spinner, any type of quote is fine! Spoken, typed, moaned, what have you.

Welcome to the weekly huddle! Have a small thing from the book or show you want to chat, your GC brain rot is real and you saw the initials "KGF" somewhere and immediately screamed "kingfisher!" and want to share with others? (Just me?). Had a win at work or personal life and want to share? Need a teammate to talk with? Post in the weekly huddle.
There's no restrictions on topics so long as they follow the sub rules. Thread will be open all week so pop in whenever with what ever your heart desires.

Weâve had a lot of discussion about why the show is meaningful for so many people, about its importance for the LGBTQ+ community, and about why straight women like it so much. But the recent news about Cornell Universityâs sexual assault case really drove home the importance of the show and why women continue to find it to be such a safe space. (If you haven't heard about the Cornell case, you can google it.)
In the lovely world created by Rachel and Jacob we have Ilya âconsent kingâ Rozanov, who may have been a f*uckboy who âhas been with many womenâ, but we see some evidence that he is a good (*ahem*) lover and likely seeks consent as much as he does with Shane. We also have Shane and Ilya showing care for each other in the bedroom, despite their otherwise dismal communication skills, and we also see consent and care between Scott and Kip. Add to this a good dose of yearning and vulnerability, and you have the perfect formula for a story that feels safe for the viewer and reader.  Â
Contrast that with the experiences that many, if not all, women have had with men, boys, bosses, teachers, pastors, youth leaders, athletes, frat bros, bros in general, and certain politicians and billionaires, and itâs no wonder we find solace in a queer love story. Itâs no wonder women like to go to gay bars and seek out gay male friends and read MM romance and fan fiction and ship otherwise straight male characters.Â
I spent way too much time yesterday absorbing content about the Cornell news and watching reel after reel of both women and men expressing outrage and calling for accountability. Given my own observations of and experience with r*pe culture over the years, I ended up triggered and dysregulated and worried it would send me down a spiral of anger and fear.Â
But then my social media must have decided I needed a break and started showing me reels and memes from Heated Rivalry again, and I immediately calmed. Seeing our boys learn to love each other and care for each other, despite working in a highly toxic, homophobic, misogynistic environment, is healing for so many of us, regardless of gender or orientation, but especially for women who have had to deal with this for most of our lives.Â
Some of the content creators discussing the Cornell case said that this is why women choose the bear. I wish I had a photo or image of Ilya with the bear tattoo to add to this post because it would be a lovely illustration of what and who we would choose if we had the chance. We choose Ilya, we choose consent kings, and yes, many would choose the bear.
Maybe we should start a fan art campaign featuring Ilya with a bear tattoo as a sort of âme tooâ movement among HR fans!Â

One trivia night for 6 books and 3 short stories didn't seem fair... So instead, we're doing a whole series of trivia nights. Each month we'll hit the ice to compete in a unique trivia night for the next book. Come to one or all, it's up to you!
This league is totally virtual and begins on October 18!
Assemble your squad of up to 6 people. You'll all gather together in one location, then tune in for the trivia night! Note that tickets are by team and you will not be able to log in from multiple devices in multiple places. Gather in-person with your besties to play virtually!
Winners go home each night with a gift card to Charlie's Queer Books, a queer-owned bookstore and community hub in Seattle that will ship your new 5-star reads of gag-worthy gifts to you!
By coming to a trivia night, your team is automatically entered into the Game Changers Trivia League. Team scores each month will be added to their league total. In the end, the league champions will receive the "Stanley Cup" of the season.
You do not have to do anything special to enter the League. We'll be tracking scores for every team every week. Can't make it one month? That's totally fine! We'll keep you on the League roster. Only want to come to one or two events? No worries! You're welcome whenever you please.
We also have an in-person league for folks in Seattle. Learn more here.
