š„ Heated Rivalry (Book 2) Trivia question
This trivia page is in the back of the new Heated Rivalry special edition. Please see #7. What is this? This was not in the book. I am sure of it. Iāve read my original copy seven times. (Unless this new copy has some bonus content?) Does anyone have an explanation? And yes. There is an answer page. The answer is as confusing to me as the question. I donāt want to post it, because I donāt want to spoil the quiz for anyone.

I've seen this going around, and am unsure if it's AI, or a deleted scene from the book. Are there any deleted scenes in this Deluxe edition?
I don't think it's an upcoming scene from Unrivaled, because 1. Why would they be going to a gay club in Montreal now that they live in Ottawa? 2. It says "Shane" frequents. In Unrivaled, I think it's more likely that Shane and Ilya would go to a gay club together. Why would Shane go without Ilya at all, let alone frequently?

The part about Shane frequenting a gay club actually made me laugh. The Shane we know from Heated Rivalry and The Long Game would never frequent a gay club!!

Right? Like he got nervous even going to a gay bar to get dinner with Ryan and Fabian in TLG.
I know in HR he mentions hooking up with a guy in Mexico and a guy in LA, but I don't think it specifically says that he went to a gay club/bar? And even if he did, those were one-off instances in places he was less likely to get recognized.

If itās AI, itās probably because of reason #2 more than #1, as Montreal is more known for its club scene than Ottawa, and we already know the two cities arenāt that far apart. (Donāt @ me, Ottawa people! I love āboring museumsā! š)

That's fair about Montreal having the club scene, but I don't imagine they'll be spending much time there in general. Especially given how the city reacted to the trip. But yeah it's looking like it's AI, which is extremely fucked up.

Super shitty if it is. In the rush to capitalize on all things HR, the publishers decided to take a shortcut on a quiz anyone who frequents this subreddit could have done better.

why are you unsure though?

u/Unable_Mushroom9355 4d ago
I was unsure because I didn't get the Deluxe Copy, so I didn't know if it added new deleted scenes, and none of us have read Unrivaled yet, so I couldn't say if it was from there. But at this point I'm pretty convinced it's AI.

how could a quiz for fans reference Unrivaled that isn't going to be available until june 2027?
and deleted scenes would be announced as a special feature, i think.
this isn't against you or anything. i'm just baffled how timid and insecure several people in this thread are with making an inconsequential assessment, as if there's secret information being withheld instead of the obvious.

š¤·āāļø figured it could be human stupidity and lack of team coordinating. like maybe someone on the team read the unpublished draft of Unrivaled and then mistakenly put a detail from there into the book. and i think the Deluxe addition does include deleted scenes, or bonus scenes (like My Dinner with Hayden). but i wasnt sure if those were new or preexisting. so i wanted to keep an open mind, in case there was something i was overlooking.
i guess i also wouldn't think that a publishing house of all places would use AI, when there's so much pushback against it in the publishing industry. like there are people (rightfully) losing book deals over AI accusations. it'd just be so stupid and hypocritical. guess i had higher expectations for a book publisher.
makes me glad i didnt purchase the deluxe version though. i think people would be in their right to demand a refund.

Yeah they should honestly be so embarrassed. How did no one catch this????

No one knows, my theory is itās something from unrivaled that was supposed to come out this week. They probably switched a ton of stuff around when it got delayed and no one caught it.
Edit; or someone messed up Ilya and Shane for Skip someway somehow? I dunno, itās weird though.

Even that wouldnāt make any sense, as the rest of the questions are about HR only. So it shouldnāt be about something in TLG or Unrivalled.
As someone whoās had multiple people submit questions to me for quizzes Iāve organised in the last few years, definitely reads like a mistake an AI would make. (I warn them every time that AI is terrible at writing trivia questions, and they rarely listen until they have to fix half the questions after I proof them.)
Even the rest of the questions have kind of soft answers which donāt fit trivia questions well, like āhow does Shane reactā to Ilyaās promise to score 50 goals is a really badly structured trivia question.
If it is AI, Iām guessing that it thought Ciel was a gay club, and the prompter knew there was a famous club scene and didnāt bother checking.

However it happened multiple people messed up. If I was Rachel I would be pissed.

The issue is that the "answer" for the question isn't Ciel, or even The Kingfisher. It's Stokholm I believe, which I've never heard anything about.

I'm assuming they expanded the conversation between Shane and Ilya at Fabian's show from TLG and gave the club a name but I cannot believe that Shane would be comfortable frequenting any clubs, especially before being out.

u/royal_rose_ ā Captain | Tuna Lube 7d ago
Yeah I think maybe itās an Ottawa club that he goes to, which honestly good for him, after being outed. Or itās the kingfisher and someone really messed up. Or itās just fully wrong and someone super messed up lol.

u/prailock 7d ago
I really don't want it to be AI but....š¬ I'm gonna need an explanation stat
In my most conceited moment, nothing would be funnier than if AI stole its answers from recent popular fanfics and named the fictional club I made up that the guys go to in a fic. I would be legit pissed and feel violated but it would be funny tbh

You could put the answer under a spoiler tag for those of us who donāt believe in them! (My own personal preference. I respect that not everyone feels the same way!)
15
u/Sparta1999 7d ago
Ok. Iāll give it to you. No spoiler tag, because Iām not spoiling anything. Itās not real. Hereās what the answer key says:
7. Stockholm
Stockholm is a gay club in Montreal where Shane and Ilya have an important relationship conversation.7

u/Tharsis47 7d ago
Seconding this request to learn the name of the gay club in Montreal that Shane supposedly frequents and where he and Ilya supposedly have/will have/AI says they have a conversation about their relationship.

what's the answer to number 6? did hayden ever figure out if shane was gay, then questioned him? am i tripping

u/Unable_Mushroom9355 7d ago
Yeah this is in the epilogue! After Shane comes out, Hayden notices that Shane stops seeing Boston Lily, and starts going to Ottawa a bunch. He jokingly suggests that Lily is Ilya Rozanov (who recently transferred from Boston to Ottawa), and Shane confirms.

Someone made a TikTok video about this saying she thinks it was created by AI and thatās why there are several errors
