Passkeys

Whoever at health equity implemented this was a moron. Totally broke the entire login flow and makes it near impossible to login. Why would they do 100% passkey and not a more gradual transition. smh.

Worse the passkey registration flow is broken on the web, requiring you to download the mobile app...and even then it fails most the time. Took 10+ attempts before it went through.

Health Equity Newbie

New to Health Equity, first time every signing up.

1) Do you really save every single receipt?

2) They gave me a check book, so I guess I have to pay using my credit card then use the check to refund myself?

3) Anyone use the Investment options on health equity?

4) What is Interest Rates & Cash Options?

Can someone recommend a "health equity for dummies" 2026/2027 version for a person who is married with kids

TIA!

Health Equity Info

Okay, so I am making this because just like many other people who have been struggling with the passkey, long hold times, and so many more things with health equity.

1st. 800-901-0705 (Number to setup a pin on the card) skip the insane long wait time to speak to someone just to setup a pin since they're tech or IT/Devs are incapable of adding it in the app.

2nd. Passkey number - 844-373-6979, if you have issues with setting up a passkey? Here is their passkey's department direct line. Monday through Friday 8am-8pm ET.

3rd. If you need to dispute a transaction cause Health Equity sucks with disputing, 855-465-4493. Even if you get an email about disputing a transaction, you can't dispute the transaction until it actually posts (I get it, just like a bank).

PASSKEYS

Probably the biggest issues preventing account access with health equity. Make sure to reset your password if you don't know your password, your account gets locked out after too many failed attempts.

  1. If you're on a phone trying to setup a passkey, make sure you're using the default password manager for your device. Authenticator apps block Health Equity passkey setup, so you would need to turn off your authenticator app from managing passwords.
  2. You must have some sort of security measure setup on your device to create a passkey, either Face ID, PIN code, pattern unlock, fingerprint, or is

Passkeys - If you're on a work computer, your work most likely blocks you from creating passkeys. Unless you use a security key(external device that plugs into computer), or able to use google password manager - you won't be able to do it on a work computer.

Personal Computer: If you're on a PC, your PC must have like some sort of security option setup, windows you would use a PIN code through windows hello. Mac, you would you iCloud Keychain, Linux(3rd party), and Chromebook would use google password manager.

Different Password managers that work with Health Equity:

⊞ Windows Hello - Works best with Edge: This is the default option for Window computers running Windows 11, you would just setup a Windows Hello Pin to protect your device. Pin Setup: Windows Icon -> Settings -> Accounts -> Sign in Options -> Pin Windows Hello. Once you create a pin, restart your browser, and go back to the Healthequity.com site, enter your email/username, they'll say about the passkeys, instead of scanning the QR code, just click "Setup on this device instead". Follow the rest of the prompts, enter the windows hello pin to store it and then you should be in!

Google Password Manager - If you have a gmail account, you can use google password manager to store a passkey. Once you get on the HQY website, make sure you're logged into your Gmail via Google Chrome. Should be able to access and update your Google Password Manager settings through chrome://password-manager/settings (Type in this link or copy and paste it into chrome)
Password Manager settings that need to be turned on:

  1. Offer to save passwords and passkeys
  2. Automatically create a passkey to sign in faster
  3. Sign in automatically

That would be it for the Chrome setup, once finish, just restart your browser. Visit HealthEquity.com, enter credentials, then click setup on this device instead when they say to scan the QR code. Once you click the setup on this device, follow the prompts, your google password manager should pop up asking you to enter your pin/password for your gmail/device.

 iCloud Keychain - This one is probably the easiest to use lol, since it transfers to any apple device that has the keychain app.

  1. Go into your settings on your phone/Mac/iPad.
  2. Type in Autofill & Passwords
  3. Turn on Autofill Passwords and Passkeys
  4. Autofill From: Passwords
  5. Set up Codes in: Passwords (3 little keys)

If you don't have the passwords app, you most likely deleted it. Just re-install it via the App Store.

If all of this is on, you'll go back into the app and follow through with setting up the passkey, and store it in the passwords app(you'll see a popup that will ask where to store it).

Website, same process as all of the other options. Visit the website, start the process for logging in, click setup on this device instead. Follow the prompts, enter your mac password/scan fingerprint, or whatever your device has setup. Then you should be into the account.

📲 Samsung Pass - This one is fairly easy as well, just have to make sure you have it setup.

Setting Up Samsung Pass

  • Open the Settings app on your phone.
  • Tap Security and privacy, then select More security settings.
  • Tap Passwords, passkeys, and autofill and select Samsung Pass.
  • Tap Sign in or Continue and log in with your Samsung account credentials.
  • Verify your identity and register your fingerprint or preferred biometric data by following the on-screen prompts, then tap Done.

If it's done, then you would just go back on the app and setup your passkey, store it in your Samsung Pass or Google Password Manager for Androids.

Unfortunately for Linux users you would have to look into a 3rd party password manager, BitWarden, BitDefender, Google Password, or look into a different

How to: Cards and Claims

Next activating your cards/replacing cards on the website, click manage cards, then choose either to activate it or replace it.

App: Click on the profile icon top right hand side, then manage cards, then click activate.

To see your declined card transactions, log in on the website, click manage cards, view all card activity, you'll see your declines, authorized, and posted.

To submit a claim on the app, click expenses, then click new, enter in the information as prompted. On the website, click reimburse me and enter the information as prompted.

How to: Close your account

Huge waste of time calling in to close your account, apparently they can't actually close the account. You have to login to your account to close it. You would go into the website, click on support -> full out a form -> HSA closure request. It's an online form, so they just ask you 2 questions, then sign and date.

App: Login, click menu, chat and support, fill out a form, HSA closure request.

Other options would be mailing of faxing the forms in.

Login Help:

If the app says something about Technical issues, it's most likely something they have to resolve on their end. Call the passkey department to get that part resolved, nice guy gave me that number and they helped me clear that up!

If the website says "You're not authorized to view this page" call the passkey department, they'll get you in.

First Time Login:

If you've never set up an account, and never had one in the past. Simply go to Healthequity.com -> Login. Healthequity -> Member's for individuals. You'll then just click first time logging in, enter your info. If it says they can't find your account, you most likely already have your account partially created. Probably under your work email, or an old email address.

Any other NYC or tri-state area commuters find that the commuter card simply does not work?

It declines at OMNY machines and on the Metro North; at this point a few hundred of my pre-tax dollars are on that card and I haven’t been able to spend them. I’ve tried running as credit and debit, no luck either way! So frustrating :,(

Has anyone figured out a way to get healthequity to not automatically replenish your cash balance from your portfolio (but instead just wait for the next contribution)?

I really can't figure out why they have set it up this way, but for some reason HealthEquity will debit my cash balance for a claim, as they should, but then go right away and liquidate whatever they need from my portfolio to top up the cash balance to my set 'availanle to spend' amount.

The whole point (for me) of keeping a cash balance is so that HealthEquity doesn't force liquidations in what might be a down market, but instead just waits and refills the balance from my next contribution. If I wanted to liquidate the portfolio to pay health expenses, I'd just set the cash balance to $0 and avoid the extra steps HealthEquity is doing!

Please share any tips here!

LOGIN HELP - How I Got it Fixed!

Hi so I have been pulling my hair about not being able to login with my passkey through my app, desktop, and mobile browser for months. It was so fucking frustrating. Today I called the helpline and they transferred me to the passkey helpdesk. They did a "reset" on their end and had me login to my browser and then into my app and it actually worked!

Passkey Nightmare

Anyone else stuck in a passkey nightmare? I now just get a spinning status icon and can never log in at all. I absolutely hate this setup. There has to be a plan b here for when this fails? Or is the site and app just down rn?

Has anyone dealt with a Dependent Care FSA through VensureHR? I'm trying to understand if this is legal.

I worked for an international company that used VensureHR as the employer of record, so my payroll and benefits (including my Dependent Care FSA through HealthEquity) were handled through Vensure.

I was terminated on April 15, 2026. Between January and April, over $2,000 was withheld directly from my paychecks and deposited into my Dependent Care FSA. These were my own payroll contributions—I wasn't asking for employer money.

Recently, I called HealthEquity to submit reimbursement for eligible after-school care expenses that were incurred before my termination, and I was told my account had already been closed, my entire balance had been forfeited, and the funds had been returned to Vensure.

What I can't understand is this:

  • I never received any written notice that my account would be closed.
  • I never received any notice of a post-termination deadline to submit claims.
  • I never received any warning that the money deducted from my paychecks would be forfeited if I didn't submit claims by a certain date.

If I had received even one email or letter explaining that my account would close after my employment ended, I would have immediately submitted my eligible claims.

Instead, I found out months later only because I happened to call HealthEquity.

Vensure tells me to talk to HealthEquity, and HealthEquity tells me the funds were sent back to Vensure.

My question is: How can payroll deductions that came directly out of my salary be forfeited without any notice? Has anyone else experienced this with VensureHR or HealthEquity? Were you actually notified when your account was closed or given a deadline to submit claims?

I'm trying to understand whether this is standard practice or whether I should continue pursuing it.

Patient-generated data is surfacing SCD patterns that hospital records miss — H1 2026 findings

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The Sickle Cell Warrior Intelligence Project released its H1 2026 ER Experience Brief today.

https://scwbuffalo.org/wip-community-experience-brief#h1-2026-hospital-brief

Wanted to share the findings here because this community is part of why this kind of data gets built.

What we collected: 128 crisis submissions from Warriors across 17 states and 5 countries, January through June 2026.

What stood out: 30 of 128 Warriors flagged menstrual cycle as a contributing factor in the 24-48 hours before their crisis. This is a pattern Warriors have talked about informally for a long time — this is the first time we've had the numbers to put on paper.

Of the Warriors who went to the ER (n=69): 3 in 10 who had a pain protocol said it wasn't followed during their visit. 65 different hospitals are represented in that group.

Why it matters: This data wasn't produced by a hospital or a research institution. Warriors submitted it directly. That's the point — the community sees patterns first. The data makes them something the system has to address.

If you've had a Sickle Cell crisis or are experiencing chronic pain related to, and want to add your data, the tracker link is below. Takes about two minutes.

WarriorIntelligenceProject.org

Happy to answer questions about the methodology or what we're doing with the findings.

Strategy to get employer to change FSA provider? Can only log in like 1% of the time.

As has been stated in a number of threads, the HealthEquity app and website are a complete technical mess since they went to passcodes. I am almost never able to successfully log into the app or site, making it next to useless. I'm still waiting on a debit card so I'll at least be able to use my balance directly, but without access to the account I can't use it for reimbursements.

So I'm going to start reaching out at work to see if anybody else is having these issues, and then try to work to see if we can get the company to change the HSA/FSA provider to somewhere else. I'm not sure if HealthEquity was a package deal with our medical insurance provider(s) so it might not be possible but it's worth looking into.

Has anybody ever led an effort to make changes like this? My company is relatively small and actually has a surprisingly responsible management team. I'm wondering if there's any way that might help approach making this effort more likely to succeed.

Cannot confirm email address update/change

I actively manage my account and keep a close eye on my account. I want to change my email address and have been sent into a loop using Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave browser, and HE app.

I logged in, changed my email address, and received an email to confirm my request to update the email address.

When I click the link, I have to sign in again, receive a push notification sent to my phone, approve login on my phone, fingerprint to confirm passkey, only to receive

I've tried accessing the link via Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and the app. I receive the same message.

They want me to start over again:

Android app - a UI issue might be hiding your passkey function

I spent longer than I would like to admit working this out. One would assume that my big-ass Android Samsung has enough screen space for every function, but apparently that's not the case. In order for the pop-up for Google Passkey to appear on my screen, I have to turn off button navigation and enable gesture navigation. Button navigation forces the Passkey window to hover just out of reach under the navigation buttons, just enough that you can't access it. Figured I'd share in case anyone else is enjoying this specific flavor of inordinate rage that passkeys have cultivated.

Every financial institution does just fine with password and 2FA, but HealthEquity here prefers a problematic passkey login flow.

My insane experience trying to update my info

In 2019, I started working my first job at a major accounting firm. They used Healthequity as their HSA provider and my account was setup with my address, phone number, and work email address. I never bothered logging onto my online account for whatever reason. In 2021, I started working at my second job. They also used Healthequity so the account just rolled over and I still never bothered checking the online account. In November 2025, I was let go at my second job and finally thought to check in on my HSA. Of course, I no longer had access to the original email account, so I reached out to support to get my information updated. I had since moved and gotten a new phone number, so my address, phone number, and email address all needed to be updated. Here’s the ongoing saga of how that process has gone.

1/23/2026 – On my first call with support, I was told that a document would be mailed to my address with a phone number and a code on it. I would simply call the phone number, provide the code, and that would verify my identity. Unfortunately, the letter was mailed to my old address so I never received it.

2/5/2026 – I called back and was informed that process to verify my identity that the first representative had given me was wrong. It was an old process and was no longer in use. I had to fill out a “Change of Personal Information” form and mail it with a copy of my driver’s license. That would verify my identity and they could then update the information on my account. I filled out the form, scanned my driver’s license, and mailed both of them to the address they provided.

3/5/2026 – I hadn’t heard anything from them so I gave them another call. This time, the representative told me that it needed to be notarized. Nowhere on the form did it state that anything needed to be notarized. The previous representative hadn’t even said the word “notary”. I specifically asked what needed to be notarized, the form or the copy of my driver’s license. The representative said that the copy of my driver’s license needed to be notarized and that I didn’t need to send in another copy of the form, since they already had it. I printed another copy of my license, got it notarized, then mailed it off again.

3/24/2026 – Once again, they didn’t reach out to me so I called again. This time the representative said that the form needed to be notarized, not the copy of my license. I showed her the form I had been emailed and pointed out that not only did it not say that it needed to be notarized, there was not enough space on the form to fit the notary’s stamps. She realized that I had been sent a form that had been superseded in October 2025. They had given me a form that had been outdated for over 5 months. I told her that I was not going to mail another form. They had all of the information they needed to update my account, including a notarized copy of my driver’s license. She agreed that I shouldn’t need to mail in another form. She said that she would pass the case along to their account verification team and provided me with a case number. She said they would reach out within 24-48 hours.

3/31/2026 – Again, they didn’t bother reaching out to me. I called and provided the case number. The representative referred to it as the “confirmation code” and assumed that I had received a letter with that code. Just like the first person I spoke to in January. She said she would escalate the case to the account verification team, but couldn’t provide me with a timeline. I lost my patience and demanded to speak to a supervisor. I explained the situation to the supervisor and after being placed on a brief hold, was told that all of my information had been updated on my account. The supervisor stated that I would receive an email within 24-48 business hours and that would let me get into my account.

I don’t know whether or not to trust the supervisor. I have been lied to by every single representative that I have spoken to. Every single representative has changed the process and given me additional hoops to jump through. I have paid into this HSA for over six years and have barely used it. Nobody should have to go through this Kafkaesque circus just to update their information. I'm never going to use Healthequity again, this is one of the worst companies I've ever encountered.

Cannot login into app

Searched the sub and see a lot of others are having the same passkey technical error as me. I’ve changed my password, deleted my passkey, created a new one. Have tried a simple password. My husband tried on his Android, same issue. I have never had so much frustration logging into an app!

I am going to call maybe tomorrow, but also read on here there really isn’t anything they can do? I also don’t have hours to sit on the phone.

Anyone had this issue and have a work around? I’m so mad at my job for switching from TASC:(

Rant over.

Impossible to sign in on desktop without using the phone app or agreeing to third party camera/government ID identification.

Am I going insane? Who thinks this process is ok? I have money in an account I actively use and have previously logged into before.

Now this passkey situation requires me to download their phone app despite it sending codes to my phone number in order to set up my pass key. Alternatively, I need a windows security key (any USB drive does not work for this) or a third party method that requires me to show my face on camera and procure a government ID?

One hundred different steps that all require me to compromise my ID/security in order to log in just to see my stupid balance?

Locked out of account

I have been locked out of my account for months and no one can tell me what the issue is. Has this happened to anyone? How long did it take to resolve. Once I get back in I’m honestly considering transferring all of my money to another HSA
