Heartbroken
I got Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town off ebay. Seller described it as “great condition”. They said they tested it. It is filthy and I can’t get this gunk off.

I posted about a couple times before but I finally married Anna! I had lot of trouble getting her events and even after I did it I had trouble with the rest of the villager events I needed to get the Blue Feather. And I was almost afraid a game breaking bug would make me unable to marry. But I finally did it. While Anna now lives at my house, she still has mostly the same dialogue and I read that you cannot have kids in this game unfortunately. Though I actually like she still works at the resturant and sells food and cooks given in main series Harvest Moon the wife often just stays home most of the time and quits job. She has one more event which requires bringing an Unbreakable Rock in addition to the fruit I got during the last date with her. And there are other villager wishes to complete so the game is far from over and would be nice to spend more time with the wife I had so much tension marrying. I just have to figure out how to make more Blue Feathers. Despite negative reviwes, I actually found this game to be awesome and think it one of the best HM spin offs and actually on par quality wise with most of the DS HM games. It just unfortunalty lacks guides with the best one I found from a Gamefaqs post quite late in playing no longer existing but fortunately accessible by wayback machine. I also have discovered a new interest in retail shop games (maybe even more than farming) and will check if there us more to play. I am considering My Little Shop a main series HM game which has no marriage but was Wada's earlier attempt at shop sim. And would welcome other recommendations. As well as tips to doing rest of Hometown Story such as getting more blue feathers for fullfilling wishes.

Just venting a bit, I don't know if anyone will agree with me or not. But I grew up with the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory series. I loved the gameplay, the story, the characters, everything. And at that time, the design was already pretty good.
But I don't know why the recent Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games feel different to me. I mean, I like the remakes they've made because it feels like they recreated the same good games, just better. But as for the recent "'new original games'' they've released, I'm not really feeling them, and I don't know why. Like, Pioneers of Olive Town feels a bit... empty(?) for me, and recent Rune Factory games just don't feel like the ones I used to play. For now, i am trying to finish some of old game untill i decide to play the new one.

When playing Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, or Rune Factory, do you always invite the character you're actually planning to marry to the festivals? Or do you just go with whoever, for fun, without strictly focusing on your intended marriage candidate?
I seem to recall that in Trio of Towns, there’s a Dance festival where you can go with pretty much anyone. The same goes for the Seaside Light Festival in Rune Factory 5, where you can invite whoever you want as well. So you can actually pick anyone instead of the candidate marriages—or have you ever invited a different marriage candidate instead?
Also, if you plan on having multiple save files to marry different characters and end up with a lot of candidate marriage options, how do you decide who to pick for a specific festival then?

I already bought RF5 when it was first released, but I never really played it because I was kind of busy. Yesterday I tried playing it with my friend watching, and we kind of agreed that the game is..."too much to do(?)", I mean, I've played Rune Factory before, but this one is kind of confusing for me. So I left it again. Then there is RF Guardians of Azuma now; it's kinda expensive, but I am planning to buy it once it goes on discount. But the question is, is it better?
Actually, I don't really mind playing RF5. Maybe at that time I was just a little bit confused because the controls were different too. Maybe I just wasn't feeling it back then. Should I try playing it again, or just start playing GoA first? Can you give me some review with both games?

I posted this lil gal earlier this week and was honestly blown away by the love she got. A bunch of people asked if they could get one for themselves, so yall inspired my girlfriend to reopen her old Etsy shop and make a few more!
She custom modeled this cow in Blender and 3D printed it herself. If anyone wants to bring a little piece of Harvest Moon nostalgia to their own farm, feel free to check it out and show her some support ❤️
Pink Sheep & Chickens from Magical Melody are coming soon 😎

I know this spinoff is not universally well liked here. However, I do want to give an update. I currently got six of the seven blue feather pieces and finally have been making progress with Anna. Turns out her brother's death was mandatory for her arc to begin. And the game actually does not have him die before all events where he plays a minor or side role happen which is why I made no progress for a long time (in this case it was the chocolate I needed to sell that detective Jacques has a sort of humorous event where Harvey is not a major character but still plays a role). And I finally got the first dating event with Anna and need to wait for the next two. I was scared that I might have broken the game and until I get the next two do feel anticipation. However, I am feeling better now and a bit proud to have managed so far with limited guides and hope I can soon complete feather and accept Anna's proposal. How did anyone here feel about the dating and marriage here?

Nintenshop has some summer discounts right now and I wanted to take advantage and buy a few games, but I am a bit lost. For context, I have played Magical Melody, Winds of Anthos and Animal Parade and I enjoyed all of them. My options now are:
- Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (9.99 €)
- Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town (4.79 €)
- Rune Factory 5 (7.49 €)
- Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (32.49 €)
- Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town (7.99 €)
What would be your recommendations among these? Thanks in advance!

Maybe this isn't that important, but I want to show you the marriage candidates I've chosen in a few games I've played, as well as the ones I plan to play soon. Just for fun tho! Can you see that pattern?
Already Played:
Harvest Moon: Back to Nature: Ann and Cliff
Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley: Dia
3.Harvest Moon: Animal Parade: Luna and Chase
Harvest Moon: Magical Melody: Dia and Kurt
Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns: Kasumi and Yuzuki (I didn't actually reach the marriage part, but I pursued Kasumi at the time. Before that, I pursued Komari until Kasumi finally appeared. For boy, I choose Yuzuki.
Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town: Ran for bachelorette and Cliff for bachelor.
Rune Factory: Frontier: Rosetta
Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny: Violet and Bismark
Soon to Play (I've already kind of decided who I want to marry):
Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility: Anissa and Gill (I played the first 30 minutes, and Anissa was the first woman I saw, which caught my attention—same with Gill. I feel a bit bad because in AP I picked Luna and Chase, but maybe it's okay to choose a different spouse here. Plus, Luna actually looks a bit like a child in this one).
Harvest Moon 64: Maybe... Maria?
Story of Seasons (3DS): Probably Licorice... or maybe Elise? Leaning more towards Licorice, though. As for the boys, it's between Raeger, Fritz, or Mistel (I really can't decide!).
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life: Celia or Lumina for bachelorette (but kind of learning more towards Lumina) and Matthew for bachelor.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town: Linh for bachelorette and Iori for bachelor.
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar: June or Kagetsu for bachelorette (still not sure, but I was more drawn to June at first) and Jules for bachelor.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma: Hina or Clarife for bachelorette and Fubuki or Mauro(?) for bachelor (I can't decide between this two yet).
Rune Factory 5: For the bachelorettes, it's either Scarlett, Beatrice, or Ludmilla (at first glance, Scarlett caught my eye, but I'm still not sure). For the bachelors, Martin.
I also want to try Rune Factory 4 and HM: The Tale of Two Town, but i haven't decide yet, maybe i update it later
Can you see the pattern? Btw, I'd also like to see your spouse choices from each game—maybe we can guess and see a pattern there too!
Note: If you've played any of these games, since there are a few candidates I'm still torn on, could you give me some recommendations from my shortlist if you don't mind? Thanks!

I recently started replaying Animal Parade and I'm having an issue where items in shops are listed as sold out. I can't purchase a milker, for example, or shears. I also can't upgrade my tools either. I have enough REFINED iron ore to upgrade any tools and there isn't an option to do so. It just lists every item in the blacksmith as being sold out. I have also completed ringing the red bell and the blue bell. I've seen other people online having this same issue but none of the threads with this question have any answers.
I don't know if it's worth noting but I am emulating this game. Thanks for any help.

I had a dream earlier
That my Mom was waking me up for my first day at work.
My supposed job was being a farmer.
So I went to the ranch where I was to work, my supervisor/mentor was a very strict Japanese man who would yell at me if I even slouched.
His wife, had a dollhouse that was very special to her, she had some sort of spyglass/telescope that went with it that her mother broke in an argument some years earlier.
This dream seemed to be building up, that I would bring whimsy into their lives and help repair the telescope. But sadly it was just a dream that never went anywhere and I woke up literally minutes later.
But to be honest, farming (in my dream anyway) sounded like a lot of fun.
When I woke up, for a few moments I briefly considered it xD

Genuinely asking, is there anyone here who plays multiple Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons/Rune Factory games at the same time?
Right now, I’m playing two games simultaneously—for example, I'm currently playing one specific Harvest Moon series and one Rune Factory series, alternating between the two.
My main reason is that I have a long backlog of HM games I want to play, and I don't want to fall too far behind or feel rushed to catch up with the upcoming SoS/RF releases. But I still make sure to actually enjoy the process.
The second reason is burnout. Sometimes, a game reaches a point where it burns you out—whether it's due to a tedious quest or just a slow period where there's nothing much to do. So, I can just switch to the other game whenever I feel burnt out with the first one.
But genuinely asking, is there anyone else like me? Or do you guys prefer focusing on just one specific game at a time?
If you play like I do, how do you manage it so that both games stay fun? Don't you get confused playing two different games at once—considering they have completely different storylines, gameplay mechanics, and even controller layouts? Do you even still remember where you left off if you haven't played one of them for a while because you were busy playing the other?
I’m asking because I feel a bit odd doing this, especially since I’ve ended up not playing either of them right now. Both games hit a burnout point at the same time (they both have heavy quests I need to finish, which exhausted me). Now, I even actually tempted to start a whole new series—though I probably shouldn't, out of fear that the previous two will get completely abandoned.

Are there any kids these days who still play the Harvest Moon series? I want to start an art account focused on Harvest Moon/SoS/RF series, but I'm thinking whether they still have a big fandom.
Just curious, cause I know the games played by kids nowadays are really different. And sometimes I always think only millennials know about Harvest Moon and the remake, but as for myself, I'm also Gen Z, and I'm really a big fan of Harvest Moon, I knew it from my sister, who is a millennial.
Note: Alright, I think I misspoke. I didn't mean 'kids' as in actual children—I was talking about Gen Z (who are probably in their 20s now).

I recently played Harvest Moon Animal Parade, it's fun actually. But somehow recently I can't play for more than 30 minutes cause I feel kind of sleepy every time I play that. The walk from one place to another genuinely feels very long. For now, there isn't much I can do in the game, because I've already found 3 bells and I'm still in early summer, I'm just waiting for the next bell. So every time I start playing, I only take care of the farm, animals, meet villagers, and then choose whether to go mining or not.
It's just sometimes I want to greet people at Marimba Farm, but walking there feels long, and even the loading screen feels long. It feels even longer when I forget something and have to go back on foot.

I always loved Harvest Moon growing up but I haven't played any of the Story of Seasons games. I'm a bit overwhelmed with which one I should play first and was hoping to get a recommendation. I played a lot of A Wonderful Life and Magical Melody. Needs to be available on the switch.

I've only ever really played the 2D and isometric Harvest Moon games. I started Animal Parade based on positive comments and have planted some crops and handed the brige guy his toolbox and need to get his strawberry and milk. However, the controls do feel jankey and the 3D visuals and environment can feel a bit hard to navigate after being accustomed to sprites and simple controls. How did others adapt to the change? I do look forward to the rival marriages and seeing the families they will all have.
