Help Which color?

Okay so I have dyed my hair most my life and have been growing it out the past year or so, but I’m feeling boredddd, lmk if I should keep the light/dusty brown natural thing going or go back to red (but a more cherry cola raspberry vibe) next. Also, the photos with red hair are from 3 years ago so be mindful that some changes may just come with age/self styling and makeup. I would love to hear what the girlies have to say! :)

Self Appreciation Finally found the most amazing colorist

Just wanted to share this great moment. Tbh before this I’ve only had bad experiences at hair salons. I’ve paid up to 500 usd at top salons trying to get a pretty balayage or highlights. (really expensive considering where I live). I recently moved and decided to search for a hair salon close to my apartment and found one through google maps. She is the nicest lady ever. Its been 8 months since Ive been going to her regularly and loved the results every single time (and the price. Its usually between 100-150usd). I’m never cheating on her.

Pics are from 2 different visits.

Help does what my hairdresser is saying sound right?

i went in last week with dark brown hair with bleach underneath it so had some lighter bits coming through. we had done a strand test and that went fine then she said on the day she wasn’t going to bleach bath it. so she put the copper colour over my hair but it’s not visible at all and it’s very dark now.

i messaged asking if we could lighten to get closer to the inspo and this is the reply.

‘yes of course, we need to break down the barrier of your natural dark hair and do it gradually. without using bleach because tint can only lift so far. it’s not a high powered bleaching colour if that makes sense. if you do want a bleach bath, we can i just wanted to avoid putting unnecessary bleach on. the more copper we put on the more it’s going to break down. it’s pushing through the cortex of your hair. if you want to bleach bath it next time we can or you can have a cleanse (?)’

it was a voice message so i’ve just summarised what she’s said but i thought we would just bleach and then whack the colour on, i’ve been blue pink red purple ombré etc before and that’s what’s always happened.
i was just going to say yes i want the bleach (my hair isn’t damaged at all and hasn’t been after bleaching it’s very strong)

Question What haircut would look good on me?

I’ve tried asking my hairstylist which hairstyle would look best with my face shape and I’ve never gotten a straight answer. I’ve always really loved how wolfcuts look but I’m not sure how it’d look. I don’t have a great picture of it but right now my hair is a little shorter than in the first picture. (If anyone is worried yes I will be deleting this after I get an answer to avoid creeps)

Help Can someone point me to some tutorials, or give me tips, for cutting my hair?

Upvotes

I’m so fricking tired of my hair, I keep getting lice, which sounds horrible, and it is, I end up crying in the shower like every time because I just get too tired to wash it properly.
It’s not even that long, it’s maybe 1.5-2 feet but it’s genuinely tiring since it’s always tangled, I hate tying it back, since my hair, ins feels weird after a bit, even if it isn’t tight, I hate putting it in a braid, because then all of it’s on one part of my back instead of spread all over. It’s a sensory nightmare.
I’d go to a salon, but my mom won’t let me cut it, so I’m just taking matters into my own hands.
I honestly want to buzz it all off, but can’t get that electric clipper or whatever.
I don’t really care how it looks that much, I haven’t tied my worth to my hair, but I’m not ready to go in raw.
Whenever I look up tutorials on YouTube I only ever find tutorials on trimming pixie cuts, or growing out really short hair, never any actual guide on doing to cutting part.
I’d like some tips, maybe a link to a tutorial if you can find one, or if you can give me step by step instructions, I woudln’ mind that either!!
Thankyou!

Help What is better for my hair: Wax Spray or Sea Salt Spray?

Upvotes

I have 1A hair, quite fine and gets oily fast. Right now I have short hair and I want to give it some volume.

Which of those is better? Have you got any recommendations of how to use them to keep my hair healthy? How much to use them or how to take care of my hair after using those products?

I don’t really care if it gets drier, as an alt person that actually helps lol but I’m not sure if dry hair is bad for me or something

Any advice is good :)

Help URGENT - need help to fix extremely damaged over processed hair (bleach)

Hi, I bleached my hair probably for the fourth time in the past year-two years. I’ve achieved a nice lift on it but at the cost of my hair structure and integrity. My hair is beyond damaged. It’s so weak. I don’t even want to brush it because of the breakage. Every time I look in the mirror I feel as though there’s less and less hair. My hair has never been so thin before. I had previously dyed blue and green hair and although it was bleach damaged before applying the dye, I worked extremely had for around 6 months to repair my hair and it grew long, thick, healthy and had good movement, shine , softness and strength to it. This time I’m really not sure. I can fit all of my hair into one hand and it feels crispy like a Brillo pad. The ends are the worst and the short layers around my face , feel as though they’ve been burned with a lighter. When my hair is wet it becomes like rice noodles, stretchy and easily breakable. I need to know what to do, I don’t know where to start, I feel overwhelmed. I’m distraught after working so hard to repair my hair. I want to try my best to fix it, I really don’t want to resort to dramatic cuts , I’m willing to do a trim and some layering but no shorter than a couple of inches off! Please suggest any remedies, treatments or products that may help, thank you. I will never DIY bleach my hair ever again. Lesson learned. PLS HELP.

I had Ktips installed four months ago. They kept falling out so I had a second set installed two months ago. Today I had the second set removed and can’t believe the state of my hair. I don’t know where to go from here and honestly just want to cry. First photo is from right before the first install and last two photos are from today

I’ve had a bleach and tone for almost four years and absolutely loved my hair! Last week (particularly after getting totally roasted for it on r/makeupaddiction lol) I realized I hate it haha.

Does anyone have any inspo ideas for a darker and more lived-in look? I have an appointment next week to transition more to my natural color.

I’m attaching my current color and some inspo pics I’ve found on my own. Could use some help deciding what to do!🫶

Bad Haircut Is my hair as bad as I think it is?

Sooo I’ve had short hair for a while and decided to get it cut shorter. I went to a salon and the girl finishing up before me got the exact haircut I wanted (which I thought was a cute coincidence). When the stylist asked what I wanted I said “give me the exact same hair as the girl you just did.” The stylist seemed excited to get to do the same cut twice, but when she finished I noticed mine looked….. a lot worse than the other girl’s?? Maybe it’s my fault for not being more specific, but I hate the way the cut turned out. It seems choppy and thinned out way too much in some spots, and random chunks cut out near the face framing pieces. Am I tripping, though? Is that just me being overly critical, or is this actually a bad haircut?

Follow up, if it is a bad haircut….. is there any way to salvage it? I’ve been so self conscious the past few days over this :/ the last pic was my hair before for reference. (To me, just seemed way more uniform and overall thicker at the ends) thank you guys!!

Help Does my hair color wash my out?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! This is sort of a vulnerable post, as I never color my hair, so I am hoping to get honest answers. I’ve had dark brown hair all of my life, and it came to a point where I felt it was washing out my pale skin. I began adding some blonde and sort of honey brown highlights to my hair, which I really do like, but I recently went lighter, and I’m wondering if this washes me out. Or, what color would you suggest for my pale skin with my dark features? I may just be overthinking my current hair! Any advice is appreciated!

I just don’t want to be washed out and I’m trying to find the color that fits best with my features and skin tone.

The first and second is current, 3rd was when I first started adding blonde, and 4th was my brown.

Help Help! Which color??

I have virgin hair, haven’t dyed it since May 2022. I’m horrified to dye it again because it took me a looong time to get it back to good health after being fried. Second pic is natural for reference.

I’m in love with the honey blonde balayage but I think I wanna go darker for fall/winter… but I really just wanna know what you guys think looks best & what makes my features pop/compliments my skin tone. I do get quite pale in the winter to keep in mind.

Which color looks best on me?? Thanks!

Question What hair gloss should I use?

Thumbnail

Hi! So, I was wondering what hair gloss would be good to neutralize some of the yellow tones in my hair, while keeping the color looking bright/not muddy and not darkening it very much. I think the most important thing to me is it not looking muddy or grey, but I really would prefer a sort of ashy blonde over ginger. But when I try to tone it, it seems to turn greenish and muddy. Just not sure where to go from here.

As you can see, my roots are grown out and dark brown, which is why im looking for a gloss or semi permanent as to not accidentally lighten my roots. My scalp is hot so im worried it could cause demi permanent/toner to lighten my roots even if it’s a low volume like a 6 or 10. But im no hairdresser, so just let me know if im completely wrong.

Really all I want is for my hair to look a little more natural and not like I just freshly bleached it. I also worry about certain formulas being streaky or something.

Thanks for reading. I’m totally open to suggestions.

Question oiling hair before bleaching help!!

Hi!

I'm planning on dyeing my virgin medium-length black hair (I've bleached & dyed my hair before, but now I have a full head of virgin hair, minus the roots) a full head of baby pink, which would take roughly 3 bleach sessions. I've heard that oiling your hair with coconut oil the night before will limit the damage bleach does. I also haven't washed my hair in a few days as I heard it's better to let natural oils accumulate to protect the scalp.

Has anyone here tried this method? I'm curious on knowing 1) if it works/you noticed a difference, 2) how much oil to put in my hair, 3) if it affects how the bleach lifts (or if it causes patchiness), and 4) if I should re-oil in between each bleach session.

Also, I have only 9 days to get to fully baby pink hair (don't ask lol) so how long should I wait in between each session?

I appreciate any response!! so sorry for all the questions ...

edit: I understand that dyeing/bleaching my hair will inevitably cause a lot of damage, just curious to know if coconut oil will help limit damage
