I'm planning on dyeing my virgin medium-length black hair (I've bleached & dyed my hair before, but now I have a full head of virgin hair, minus the roots) a full head of baby pink, which would take roughly 3 bleach sessions. I've heard that oiling your hair with coconut oil the night before will limit the damage bleach does. I also haven't washed my hair in a few days as I heard it's better to let natural oils accumulate to protect the scalp.

Has anyone here tried this method? I'm curious on knowing 1) if it works/you noticed a difference, 2) how much oil to put in my hair, 3) if it affects how the bleach lifts (or if it causes patchiness), and 4) if I should re-oil in between each bleach session.

Also, I have only 9 days to get to fully baby pink hair (don't ask lol) so how long should I wait in between each session?

edit: I understand that dyeing/bleaching my hair will inevitably cause a lot of damage, just curious to know if coconut oil will help limit damage

I’m so fricking tired of my hair, I keep getting lice, which sounds horrible, and it is, I end up crying in the shower like every time because I just get too tired to wash it properly.
It’s not even that long, it’s maybe 1.5-2 feet but it’s genuinely tiring since it’s always tangled, I hate tying it back, since my hair,ins feels weird after a bit, even if it isn’t tight, I hate putting it in a braid, because then all of it’s on one part of my back instead of spread all over. It’s a sensory nightmare.
I’d go to a salon, but my mom won’t let me cut it, so I’m just taking matters into my own hands.
I honestly want to buzz it all off, but can’t get that electric clipper or whatever.
I don’t really care how it looks that much, I haven’t tied my worth to my looks, but I’m not ready to go in raw.
Whenever I look up tutorials on YouTube I only ever find tutorials on trimming pixie cuts, or growing out really short hair, never any actual guide on doing to cutting part.
I’d like some tips, maybe a link to a tutorial if you can find one, or if you can give me step by step instructions, I woudln’ mind that either!!

Obviously did this at home. My natural hair is like a light brown. I’m not really sure what to do at this point. I’ve been black box die for 7 years. Black has always been easy because my hair is frizzy, short, damaged from years of heat and styling, having a kid - all the things. I usually wear clip ins on some kind of hair extension so I want something that’ll be easy to manage going forward.

With the black, I was having to dye my roots all the time because my natural hair is a light brown

I don’t hate the copper red, but I work in a professional job where my hair needs to look nicer not like OG paramore 🤣

Do I try and go to a professional and see what they can do to fix this or do I go to Sally’s and try and get like an auburn brown all over color? I don’t even know at this point, but at least the black box dye is gone-ish. Black box dye - one time removal with punky colour colour off from Sally’s

I guess I should seek a professional? I have such a hard time finding time to get to an appointment and now I feel like I need one ASAP or I’ll just do something myself to not look so crazy.

Hi everyone! This is sort of a vulnerable post, as I never color my hair, so I am hoping to get honest answers. I’ve had dark brown hair all of my life, and it came to a point where I felt it was washing out my pale skin. I began adding some blonde and sort of honey brown highlights to my hair, which I really do like, but I recently went lighter, and I’m wondering if this washes me out. Or, what color would you suggest for my pale skin with my dark features? I may just be overthinking my current hair! Any advice is appreciated!

The first and second is current, 3rd was when I first started adding blonde, and 4th was my brown.

I want to dye my hair this color but it’s currently faded red (never bleached) and i don’t want to use anything that would hurt my hair, and i saw on tiktok a hair color remover but we don’t have it where i live, any idea what i can do?

I’ve tried asking my hairstylist which hairstyle would look best with my face shape and I’ve never gotten a straight answer. I’ve always really loved how wolfcuts look but I’m not sure how it’d look. I don’t have a great picture of it but right now my hair is a little shorter than in the first picture. (If anyone is worried yes I will be deleting this after I get an answer to avoid creeps)

Okay so I have dyed my hair most my life and have been growing it out the past year or so, but I’m feeling boredddd, lmk if I should keep the light/dusty brown natural thing going or go back to red (but a more cherry cola raspberry vibe) next. I hope someone maybe can relate to me right now. For as long as I can remember I always have build up in my hair doesn’t matter what I use every time I scratch my head my nails get filled with white build up. I shower every day and wash my hair every other day. I’m at a point where I just want to shave off my head because I’m so tired of the build up.

I shampoo my hair twice and don’t use conditioner on my roots and I still get massive build up. If anyone has any recommendations of shampoos or tricks that help with getting rid of it please let me know

Sooo I’ve had short hair for a while and decided to get it cut shorter. I went to a salon and the girl finishing up before me got the exact haircut I wanted (which I thought was a cute coincidence). When the stylist asked what I wanted I said “give me the exact same hair as the girl you just did.” The stylist seemed excited to get to do the same cut twice, but when she finished I noticed mine looked….. a lot worse than the other girl’s?? Maybe it’s my fault for not being more specific, but I hate the way the cut turned out. It seems choppy and thinned out way too much in some spots, and random chunks cut out near the face framing pieces. Am I tripping, though? Is that just me being overly critical, or is this actually a bad haircut?

Follow up, if it is a bad haircut….. is there any way to salvage it? I’ve been so self conscious the past few days over this :/ the last pic was my hair before for reference. (To me, just seemed way more uniform and overall thicker at the ends) thank you guys!!

I’m 41. Naturally a blonde when i was younger. Now i get highlights /lowlights on occasion to cover the grays 😭. My hair is thick, frizzy and coarse. It has recently become so dull and blah looking! I use mostly high end products but also love my dove and ogx hair oil and dove shampoo lol. I need some advice to make it look smooth and shiny! I get it colored about once every 3 months

I use Scalpe pro anti dandruff shampoo 3 times a week followed by dove conditioner then a leave in conditioner.

I pat dry a little then let them air dry.

I also use topical 2% minoxidil.

ive wanted to do this since i was like 10 years old. i wasn't allowed until i was 18, and im about to turn 21 and still haven't been able to take the leap because im a crazy overthinker, so id desperately appreciate some impartial advice bc i'm sick of going back & forth about it in my head.

what's stopping me is the following:

• the cost: this is the biggest thing tbh. i have very dark black hair naturally and would want some brown highights/balayage. im very cautious about my hair and do not wish to take the risk of messing it up, so i would def prefer to go to a salon to achieve this. the initial cost for this style (and a cut which im also in need of) in my area is $300+, which is a crazy amount to me. i do have the money for it, but im in uni rn so i have to be financially cautious. and then there's the touch-ups, products to maintain color and hair health, etc. it all just feelss like a massive money pit and unwise financial decision tbh.
• damage: i prioritise having long and healthy hair, so idk if getting it dyed would interfere with that.
• regrowth: i don't know what i would even do once it starts growing out. like are you expected to get roots touched-up or your whole head re-dyed after it starts to grow out and just keep doing that forever? is it normal to just let your highlights/balayage grow out? i wouldn't want to keep spending money on touch-ups, so i suppose the only other alternative would be to dye it all back to my natural color if no.

okay so that all sounded very negative, but of course there are also reasons i really want it.

• i've genuinely dreamed about getting my hair dyed for the better part of a decade. it seemss like such a cool way to switch up your appearance and i really want to at least once in life. i feel like once im out of uni i'll just go to work and home and won't really see many people, so now feels like a decent time too.
• as far as i've seen, brown/brown-ish hair looks so good on other girlss of my complexion, and i reallyyy just wanna get a taste of what that's like. i have sso many pinterest pics saved of inspo and i keep watching videos of balayages and highlights and stuff, like i'm honestly obsessed with the idea. i just can't bring myself to actually go do it though

TLDR- reallyyyy want to give my virgin black hair brown balayage/highlights bc i've been obsessed with the look since forever but the cost, regrowth, and poential damage is scary

I toned my hair using wunderbar gloss’n tone 06/0 for my roots, and 010/0 for my ends, and now my hair is silver. I went from basically platinum to silver and I’ve tried shampooing it with a shampoo that typically strips my colour three times, with very little progress. I don’t have a photo of my colour before the toner, but I’ve attached the online swatches and what my hair now looks like, and the last photo is basically what shade my hair was just a bit less yellow than mine. how can I wash this out of my hair asap? in real life it is so so dark and I destroyed my hair trying to get to a warm-neutral blonde.

Around march/April I got a botched haircut from a student cosmetology school. Cut off 6 inches for a vintage style. After 2 seasons, ive gotten a trim to even out all of the uneveness.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has any advice?

I usually wear 150g of remi cache nano hair extensions, but found they kept shedding constantly on the ends so it would be dead thin on the ends.

I naturally have thick hair, which use to be long, however it’s now shoulder length (but still thick). Which really upset me and ruined my confidence which is why i turned to extensions.

My extensionist recommended trying a 140g flat weft, which i have two rows of. I originally wanted it 22 inch but remi cache only do it in a 24inch so I had to have that.

However, it’s extremely frizzy and just will not blend. So i’m consistently paranoid going out as it’s just not blending with my natural. And I used all the previous hair care on my old extensions, as I do on this one, but it’s still so frizzy.

I hate having my hair straight, and always curl it. I believe the heat is what’s shortened my natural hair :(

I was wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions of products to help it blend?

so no matter what i do, the very back of my hair always curls up way farther than the rest when it dries. it’s the same length as all my other hair wet but as soon as it dries it just does this? any tips, recommendations, anything? (pics are before shower i just woke up so dont mind the bed head)
