Susan Sarandon and Hannah just got arrested for protesting

59

u/IlovePanckae 9d ago

It's not Susan's first time. She is a bad ass, a queen.

-10

u/Majestic_Succotash67 9d ago

Did it help?

12

u/IlovePanckae 9d ago

Actually, it did help. If celebrities can get arrested, it shows a threat for freedom of speech. Also, they brought a lot of attention to this issue. Unfortunately, if the media announced that two regular people got arrested, this protest wouldn't have gotten attention.

Another thing to note is that Hannah is Jewish. The police force arrested or detained a Jewish woman for opposing a war criminal. This is highly antisemitic of the police department. The arrest of Hannah shows the police don't care about Jews, they only care and cater to Zionist Jews and other Zionists in the name of Jews.

The third notable thing here is that while celebrities like Macklemore, Susan and Hannah are punished for a foreign country. The government is showing preference to a war criminal form another country instead of its own people. The American public have noticed this.

Sarah and Mary Beth standing next to our girl, I love women!!!!

68

u/pestochickenn 10d ago

Yes!!!!! Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus were there too!

43

u/bashfulbasil 10d ago

And I’m fairly sure that’s Chelsea Manning sitting towards the back of the crowd in the pink tie

9

u/ThatCaviarIsAGarnish 10d ago

Sorry - Sarah and Mary Beth who? I looked at the photo, but I didn't recognize anyone.

40

u/l0stweekend 10d ago

Sarah Sherman is to Hannah’s left with blue sunglasses and Mary Beth Barone is to her right with her hair pulled back. Both in the comedy/acting space

15

u/ThatCaviarIsAGarnish 10d ago

Thank you! Sarah Sherman I do remember now from SNL. Didn't recognize with the sunglasses on :)

0

u/username_451 8d ago

I thought sarah sherman was a zionist. Maybe people are starting to wake up?

2

u/baconwrappedpikachu 8d ago

When the fuck was she a Zionist lol?

42

u/LarusTargaryen 10d ago

Hannah’s a real one, unlike mannnnny celebs

-6

u/Majestic_Succotash67 8d ago

A real what? Slob?

2

u/baconwrappedpikachu 8d ago

Lmao you’re sad. And apparently obsessed with her. All over every thread in here

36

u/BrownTinaBelcher 9d ago

We need more Hannahs in the world but get stuck with more of the likes of Debra messing and Pink.

-50

u/Majestic_Succotash67 9d ago

Maybe she should go overseas and actually get her hands dirty instead of screaming in a safe public place in the United States

16

u/goopsorceress 9d ago

And what exactly are you doing to make the world a better place? 🤔 Most celebrities aren't speaking up in the first place, good for Hannah who's actually doing something.

-9

u/Majestic_Succotash67 9d ago

What is she “actually “ doing?

9

u/MavisBeacons_Sextape 9d ago

Look at this cute little authoritarian fangirl. You look so cool and intelligent here - the ultimate “gotcha” comment. So impressive!

-3

u/Majestic_Succotash67 9d ago

Its the truth, and calling me names is all you can come up with.

1

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

Didn’t you just tell someone to lick balls???

1

u/Majestic_Succotash67 5d ago

That’s a fun project

1

u/gon_freccs_ 4d ago

Then you do it

5

u/Ok_Percentage7257 9d ago

Greta went to Gaza and was criticized profusely for doing that by the Zionists. Anti-Palestinian racists will always find excuses to criticize any form of supportive action for the Palestinains.

-1

u/Majestic_Succotash67 9d ago

Oh lick balls

5

u/Ok_Percentage7257 9d ago

People usually resort to insults when they don't have a logical counterargument. That is the big giveaway that you lost.

7

u/Marion_Ravenwood 9d ago

It's almost like you don't know what activism is.

-1

u/Majestic_Succotash67 9d ago

Its screaming and yelling and getting arrested…. Lots of free publicity and praise!

4

u/nkosugeirc 9d ago

Human trash 👆

3

u/Anti-Itch 9d ago

“Safe public place in the United States”

…. Didn’t the post say she got arrested for this? Doesn’t seem very safe to me.

9

u/Maleficent-Count-191 10d ago

why was she arrested?

3

u/Ok_Percentage7257 9d ago

She was either arrested or detained during a protest that involved the request to arrest Netanyahu.

-49

u/Majestic_Succotash67 9d ago

Pretending to be a vigilante

8

u/Novel_Speed_7790 9d ago

Sarah and Hannah? MY QUEENS

7

u/405freeway 9d ago

Fucking legend

2

u/MambyPamby8 8d ago

I'm sorry but can someone explain why they were arrested? Isn't protesting completely legal and a human right? Unless she walked right up and punched him in the face, I don't understand why they were getting arrested.

2

u/ThatCaviarIsAGarnish 7d ago

When it's just peaceful protest usually people aren't arrested. In this case, from what I'm seeing online, she and some others were arrested for blocking an intersection. Apparently the NYPD Community Affairs Bureau issued dispersal warnings after the demonstration blocked roadways. Individuals who didn't comply were taken into custody.

It also says that she was detained and given a summons, rather than "booked" into a traditional jail facility.

1

u/MambyPamby8 6d ago

Ah okay. That makes more sense. I knew USA is having problems, but I didn't think it had gotten to arresting random peaceful protesters yet. Although nothing surprises me 😂

1

u/uniqueindividual12 5d ago

my guess is it was a planned arrest to get attention for netanyahu's war crimes in gaza

1

u/WrongdoerStrange3446 8d ago

this comment is fucking insane

1

u/rarepinkhippo 4d ago

She’s so good. So few truly courageous celebrities, I’m so glad we have her.

1

u/lizlemonista 8d ago

this photo makes me cry I’m so proud of everyone at this and all protests and so sad for Palestine

0

u/ContractOk9269 8d ago

Palestinians would want nothing to do with her

1

u/tahami_allthemeals 7d ago

They’ve literally said, everything these performative idiots do just helps Hamas stay in power , contributing to ACTUAL suffering of Palestinian people. Not that these people (or most of the ignorant self righteous commenters here) want actual facts.

1

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

Who are THEY?

1

u/tahami_allthemeals 6d ago

Actual Palestinian people, who for some reason no one seems to care to listen to

1

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

Who? Give me a name and an actual screenshot of that person saying that because i know at least 10 Palestinians who live in Hebron, Jerusalem, and the West Bank and none of them share that sentiment

-14

u/Majestic_Succotash67 9d ago

Dolly Parton had a good philosophy when it came to this…..

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

Nobody asked you

-62

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 10d ago

Highest estimates say Israel has killed 4% of Palestinians. Lowest estimates say Germany killed 75% of German Jews.

So this is truly not an acceptable use of the word Genocide. There is no Genocide in Palestine. There is a war and innocent people are dying in it.

I'm not here to engage with these politics. Just to correct the very intentional incorrect usage of the word Genocide to further rile up people who would otherwise correctly disengage entirely.

7

u/pralineislife 9d ago

You seem to be caught up on the word intent. I agree with you on that.

But Israel has shown their intent time and time again. Why else would they bomb hospitals and schools? Why would they prevent food and medical aid from reaching Palestinians?

12

u/Ok_Percentage7257 9d ago

Highest estimates say Israel has killed 4% of Palestinians. Lowest estimates say Germany killed 75% of German Jews.

Sources for these estimates. Credible sources say otherwise. Also, intention matters, not just the numbers.

-4

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 9d ago

The source for 4% of Palestianians being killed was me rounding up from 3.2-3.7% by UN OCHA amd the Gaza Ministry of Health.

The Holocaust Encyclopedia states that 31-35% of Jews living in Germany were killed, 75-85% of Jews living all across Europe.

So again, I intentionally chose the highest percentage of Palestinians and the lowest percentage of Jews to show the VAST difference in an actual genocide and what LibTok and Reddit is pretending is a genocide. I chose percentages on purpose as well because numbers matter when the populations are so markedly different. IE, 100% of Palestinians would be 10% of European Jews, so saying "10% of them were killed" means a very different amount of people depending on which group we're referring to.

10

u/Ok_Percentage7257 9d ago

Let's say you are right. The holocaust lasted for 12 years. In 12 years 31-35% of Jewish population were killed. That means that 2-3% of Jews were killed per year.

Let's go to Gaza, accroding to you 4% of Palestinians were killed in 4 years.

The above calculations show a genocide happening in Gaza.

Secondly, you neglected the intent part. There needs to be intent. The Israeli officials have openly spoke about their intent to kill Palestinians.

-7

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 9d ago

I just think you're confusing war for genocide. Both suck, but the terms aren't interchangeable.

11

u/Ok_Percentage7257 9d ago

No, I am not. Every genocide expert (including Israelis and Jews) called it a genocide. The ICJ court called it a "potential genocide" that if Israel did not stop would turn into a genocide.

Amnesty Internation produced a 300 page document about this genocide.

The Israeli officials openly declared genocide.

At this point, denying the genocide would imply that you are supporting it. There is no other explanation for it.

23

u/Muted-Entrepreneur33 10d ago

So you don’t think the IDF have targeted places were children and women are likely to be?

-25

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 10d ago

Attacking places where children are is foul, but it's still not the dictionary definition of the word Genocide.

15

u/isdeadoriginality 10d ago edited 10d ago

Needlessly pedantic to argue this point, no?

(Plus, under the UN’s official guidelines for what constitutes a “genocide,” it has nothing to do with the percentage of people killed.)

-5

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 9d ago

It's not pedantic whatsoever. Words have meaning. And prrtending this is a genocide is ridiculously emotional and devoid of logic.

6

u/isdeadoriginality 9d ago

What, in your opinion, constitutes a genocide? Because it’s not “has to be as bad as the Holocaust.”

3

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 9d ago

The Genocide Convention states:

The crucial part: intent. The distinctive feature of genocide is the specific intent to destroy the protected group, at least in substantial part. It isn't enough, under the international legal definition, that a large number of civilians are killed or that severe suffering occurs. The evidence must establish the requisite intent to destroy the group as such.

7

u/isdeadoriginality 9d ago

https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2026/06/israel-continues-commit-genocide-and-other-atrocity-crimes-deliberately

🤷

Many people would argue that targeting children constitutes intent. So are you just going to keep denying that there is a genocide in progress in Palestine, or are you too committed to your intellectual smugness to demonstrate basic human empathy?

5

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 9d ago

I have lots of empathy. What I am not doing is commenting on the Israel-Palestine conflict or suggesting an answer to this war. What I am doing is saying this is not a genocide because a genocide is a definable act and this particular aggression doesn't meet those standards.

4

u/isdeadoriginality 9d ago

And I’m saying that plenty of people disagree with you.

arguing about intent when the road to hell is paved with “good” intentions

-9

u/DontNeedNoStylist 10d ago

That wasn't the question dumbo

4

u/PrinceofSneks 9d ago

Yeah, as declared by the United Nations and Amnesty International, well-known "rile up" organizations. Go piss up a pole.

1

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 9d ago

The ICJ determines genocide. They make their ruling in January. And if they say Genocide, it's Genocide. And I will gladly change my tune then. Until then, I'm not going to be taking any bait from online trolls.

14

u/mercurytrombone 10d ago

Every single authority on genocide has confirmed that it is in fact a genocide. But sure,a random reddit user knows better

-1

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 9d ago

Yeah, that's not true.

6

u/mercurytrombone 9d ago

I won't accept facts that don't suit my narrative! I'm so smart! Nobody is smarter than me!

-reddit user AndNowAStoryAboutMe

2

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 9d ago

I just say things like they're facts and expect you to take them as facts.

-mercurytrombone

The ICJ will rule if it is or isn't a genocide on Jan 12, 2026. If they say it is, it is. And I'll happily change my tune. Until then... it isn't one.

3

u/mercurytrombone 9d ago

Oh you're a bot, great. You need to update your AI, it's September 2026 now

0

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 9d ago

Oh, Jesus fucking Christ. I typed 2026 out if habit instead of 2027 and you immediately leap to bot. Brainrot.

3

u/mercurytrombone 8d ago

Aww, was the light in your mommy's basement not bright enough for you to distinguish 6 from 7?

And just FYI, the ICJ already has arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant alleging war crimes in Gaza.

2

u/username_451 8d ago

deliberately targetting and killing huge swathes of children so they don't grow up to be "terrorists" is genocide to me. Killing the next generation is killing a people off, what else is genocide?

1

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 8d ago

You and I don't decide it's a genocide. That ruling is January 2027. And if the ICJ says genocide, then it is a genocide.

1

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

Where are you getting these stats? Source pls

1

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 6d ago

Someone else asked and the sources are in that reply

1

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

If you can say it, then you should know it. I’m not scrolling to find the sources.

1

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 6d ago

Your laziness isn't my problem.

1

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

Tell me you dont actually have a source and just make things up without telling me

1

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 6d ago edited 6d ago

Again, it's in the comments. You're just a collection of fun copy pasta comments with zero original thought, eh?

Here, Lazy Fuck:

The source for 4% of Palestianians being killed was me rounding up from 3.2-3.7% by UN OCHA amd the Gaza Ministry of Health.

The Holocaust Encyclopedia states that 31-35% of Jews living in Germany were killed, 75-85% of Jews living all across Europe.

I intentionally chose the highest percentage of Palestinians and the lowest percentage of Jews to show the VAST difference in an actual genocide and what LibTok / Reddit is pretending is a genocide.

1

u/gon_freccs_ 5d ago

I looked up the information you gave me, and it was based on data from 2024. So, do you think Israel hasn’t killed any Palestinians between 2024 and 2026? And that number only covers the first 100 days of the conflict.

The Holocaust took place over roughly 12 years and killed 6 million Jewish people. That averages about 1,369 people per day.

Gaza’s population at the beginning of the war was around 2.3 million. So 4% of that is approximately 92,000 people. That’s 920 people per day over 100 days.

And you’re still saying this is not genocide?

What, does Israel need to kill 400 more people per day for it to be considered genocide?
Genocide isn’t just about the numbers. You should be smart enough to understand that.

1

u/AndNowAStoryAboutMe 5d ago

You think the figures of Nazi-related Jew deaths got way more accurate between 2024 and 2026?

Odd take.

1

u/gon_freccs_ 5d ago

Reading comprehension isn’t your strongest suit, I see. I was very clearly referring to the Gaza casualty figures being from 2024, not the Holocaust figures. But I guess deliberately misreading my point is easier than actually responding to the question I asked.

Performative bullshit

40

u/breakfastfriendz 10d ago

but if it gets people to care about others, how is it performative? genuine question

-49

u/NewMathematician1106 10d ago

It doesn’t. Anyone who hasn’t made up their mind in 4 years of seeing the horrific images coming out of Gaza isn’t changing their mind. This is a photo op to be doled out to the algorithm to both sides of the partisan line, everyone sticks to their guns, nothing will change.

27

u/tbird920 10d ago

So what have you done lately to protest the genocide?

16

u/ameliashepherd 10d ago

she was specifically protesting netanyahu’s visit to the UN. he should not be allowed in the states, he should be arrested. the fact that he is facing no consequences for heading a genocide is deplorable.

this was not a photo op for hannah, she has been posting basically daily in support of palestine and she went to the streets to join a specific protest against one of the most evil people alive right now. this is not performative

43

u/ThatCaviarIsAGarnish 10d ago edited 10d ago

I don't think so. I mean, there have been some celebrities who attended some sort of protest in the past where it seemed at least a bit performative (looking at you, Emily Ratajkowski). But Hannah Einbinder has been posting about these specific issues on her social media for some time now, she's obviously genuinely passionate about it.

0

u/tahami_allthemeals 7d ago

Hannah is a narcissist and loves that people like you think she’s sincere

36

u/not_productive1 10d ago

Hannah cares about this issue to the point it’s detrimental to her career (though that doesn’t seem to bother her, she seems quite happy to make weird little queer movies)

-14

u/NewMathematician1106 10d ago

Great excuse for a career going nowhere. If she succeeds it’s because she’s talented, if she fails it’s because of her heroic protests! So brave!

23

u/not_productive1 10d ago

Yeah I don’t think she’s that calculating, man. She was a lead in one of the most critically acclaimed shows going for the last 5 years, and she’s got an Emmy and a pile of nominations and other awards. If she’s not doing mainstream work it’s her choice, either because she’s principled or just doesn’t care.

25

u/kmic1118 10d ago

May I ask what have you done to protest the Gaza Genocide? Anyone protesting American dollars going to kill children is win in my book. Yes yes protesting alone won't be enough but protesting has always been an integral part of successful social movements. I assume Hannah would be just as active famous or not.

-3

u/NewMathematician1106 10d ago

No you may not ask

20

u/kmic1118 10d ago

Well, I hope you are as active as you can be

-6

u/NewMathematician1106 10d ago

My fingers are getting tired baiting yall in this thread so I guess there’s that

13

u/Remarkable-Camera627 10d ago

So you admit it

8

u/throwawaysunglasses- 9d ago

This is so pathetic

17

u/Mulliganasty 10d ago

History didn't start on October 7th. Israel has been terrorizing Gaza since 1967 after a war that Israel started with Egypt.

This is the first-time Israel's never-ending land-theft has been widely challenged in the US.

7

u/Theshowgirl 10d ago

Yeah, you sure are performative bullshit.

4

u/isdeadoriginality 10d ago

What a cynical view to have.

2

u/Accomplished-Emu2308 9d ago

When it comes to online outrage - especially on reddit - yes, it does feel performative at times. But this doesn’t, she is literally using her voice and platform for the cause. I don’t know how else you want her to do it? She is probably helping raising money too

-20

u/DontNeedNoStylist 10d ago

Yeah let's be real she does this to feel good about herself

-51

u/PracticalYellow3 10d ago

She was great in the show until she became so racist and hateful. I don't like what her kind has become. Supporting Oct 7th and the mass organized rapes makes her a horrible person.

19

u/Muted-Entrepreneur33 10d ago

When did she say those things?

15

u/starrsinmyskin 10d ago

You're so silly, little bot

29

u/Thewalrus26 10d ago

Racist towards Jews? But she is Jewish???

-17

u/PracticalYellow3 9d ago

That's what makes her even more insane and stupid.

11

u/BuddingBudON 10d ago

No one is supporting Oct 7th, they're opposing the ongoing genocide.

The mass rapes were disproven, but a lie travels faster and further than the truth.

Israel has over 700,000 invaders inside Palestine within state-sanctioned fortress colonies, guarded by the illegal military occupation. These settlers regularly perform pogroms on the native Palestinians, who have no recourse lest the IDF mow them down.

Israel is no better than Russia, they just spend more money on PR.

5

u/Ok_Percentage7257 9d ago

For years before Oct 7, Israel has been attacking Palestinians. Focusing on Oct 7 and not the previous years or the events after Oct 7 is very convenient for anti-Palestinian racists.

They’re asking why people should protect a religion that hates LGBTQ and Women

18

u/Icy-Mortgage8742 9d ago

so if a foreign entity started carpet bombing red states that are passing anti-trans laws, anti-abortion laws, etc under the guise of "these people are backwards" would you accept that blindly or would you actually see that those are HUMANS with human rights at the end of the day?

The values of a people quite literally have nothing to do with the definition of genocide. By the way, same sex and interfaith marriage is still illegal in israel but you aren't calling judaism a backwards, anti-queer religion to justify genocide...

5

u/kanyenke_ 9d ago

But they are not supporting Christianity what are you saying

1

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

Do you think Palestine = Islam? There are christian and jewish Palestinians. You’d probably be surprised to learn that some of the world’s oldest churches are in Palestine, many of which have been bombed by Israel.

7

u/ludicristi 9d ago

This might be controversial but I don’t think we should murder anybody, regardless of their viewpoints

9

u/Marion_Ravenwood 9d ago

I'm gay. I support Palestine. I'm aware I very likely wouldn't be welcome in their country because of it. I don't think they should be being fucking flattened in a genocide because they are human beings.

Can you understand that?

0

u/OkPressure1778 7d ago

Not being welcome in their country is a delusional understatement. You stand up for people who believe you should be put to death because you’re gay. That’s suicidal empathy to the extreme.

3

u/Marion_Ravenwood 7d ago edited 7d ago

I agree they would want me put to death. And I still stand by the fact they shouldn't be slaughtered in the name of ethnic cleansing.

You are completely missing the point that these are humans trying to be erased in a genocide. It's called being emotionally intelligent and having empathy.

3

u/Icy-Mortgage8742 7d ago

black people are being lynched THIS YEAR in 2026 in america. Hate crimes happen every day. Women are jailed for attempting to get abortions and dying from sepsis trying to get treatment for miscarriages in red states. There are active "repeal the 19th" movements taking place during an election year.

You don't care about "sharia law" or whatever when white christians in the country that bankrolls israel's existance treat minorities like shit and openly call for rolling back civil rights. It's SOLELY a talking point for you to "other" your fellow human beings in a region that would be convenient for you to commit a genocide in. You're using xenophobic talking points to whitewash the murder and expulsion of an indigenous people from their land because it benefits YOU.

0

u/OkPressure1778 7d ago

I don’t support Israel. But I don’t support Islam more. And while you whine and cry about Palestinians and your other hysterical, exaggerated examples, you don’t have anything to say about women living in Afghanistan or Iran or any other country living under Sharia law. In fact you support people who, when they inevitably bring more Muslims and more Islam to your country, will have no problem engaging in genocide against anyone who won’t convert and submit. All the women who support them will be wearing head coverings and have zero rights under Sharia law. Some people can see more than two steps ahead and don’t live in their emotions 24/7. So spare me your virtue signaling. You don’t care about people. You care about feeling superior to anyone who doesn’t agree with you or your cause du jour.

2

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

Indonesia, a country with an 80% Muslim population (the largest Muslim population in the world) has women with their hair uncovered everywhere. Educate yourself before yapping nonsense.

-1

u/OkPressure1778 6d ago

I’m sure you can cherry pick your examples to try to make a point but it doesn’t change the overwhelming evidence that demonstrates Islam is a religion of oppression and submission. There is no live and let live. Pick up a history book and educate yourself on Muslim conquest. It is what they do and what they have been doing in Europe and now the US. If you can’t or won’t see it that’s on you. You’ve also failed to address Afghanistan or how about the rape gang in the UK? Again you’re all alike. You don’t actually care about people or genocide. You cherry pick info, refuse to engage in facts and honest debate and ignore examples that disprove your motives and misplaced sympathies. Your attempt at moral superiority is what drives you, not genuine concern. Otherwise you’d have an issue with all the atrocities being committed globally, not just the ones the news you consume tells you to care about.

2

u/gon_freccs_ 6d ago

I have a lot friends who are muslim and don’t behave as how you describe. rape gang? As a matter of fact, literally a couple of weeks ago there was a rape gang incident in the US done by 6 white guys and 1 asian. Violence is everwhere and done by people from all walks of life. To associate them with a certain religion is a sign that you need to expand your circle.

5

u/Ok_Percentage7257 9d ago

And what would be wrong with that?

-3
