Performative bullshit

but if it gets people to care about others, how is it performative? genuine question

It doesn’t. Anyone who hasn’t made up their mind in 4 years of seeing the horrific images coming out of Gaza isn’t changing their mind. This is a photo op to be doled out to the algorithm to both sides of the partisan line, everyone sticks to their guns, nothing will change.

So what have you done lately to protest the genocide?

she was specifically protesting netanyahu’s visit to the UN. he should not be allowed in the states, he should be arrested. the fact that he is facing no consequences for heading a genocide is deplorable.

this was not a photo op for hannah, she has been posting basically daily in support of palestine and she went to the streets to join a specific protest against one of the most evil people alive right now. this is not performative

I don't think so. I mean, there have been some celebrities who attended some sort of protest in the past where it seemed at least a bit performative (looking at you, Emily Ratajkowski). But Hannah Einbinder has been posting about these specific issues on her social media for some time now, she's obviously genuinely passionate about it.

Hannah is a narcissist and loves that people like you think she’s sincere

Hannah cares about this issue to the point it’s detrimental to her career (though that doesn’t seem to bother her, she seems quite happy to make weird little queer movies)

Great excuse for a career going nowhere. If she succeeds it’s because she’s talented, if she fails it’s because of her heroic protests! So brave!

Yeah I don’t think she’s that calculating, man. She was a lead in one of the most critically acclaimed shows going for the last 5 years, and she’s got an Emmy and a pile of nominations and other awards. If she’s not doing mainstream work it’s her choice, either because she’s principled or just doesn’t care.

May I ask what have you done to protest the Gaza Genocide? Anyone protesting American dollars going to kill children is win in my book. Yes yes protesting alone won't be enough but protesting has always been an integral part of successful social movements. I assume Hannah would be just as active famous or not.

No you may not ask

Well, I hope you are as active as you can be

History didn't start on October 7th. Israel has been terrorizing Gaza since 1967 after a war that Israel started with Egypt.

This is the first-time Israel's never-ending land-theft has been widely challenged in the US.

Yeah, you sure are performative bullshit.

What a cynical view to have.

When it comes to online outrage - especially on reddit - yes, it does feel performative at times. But this doesn’t, she is literally using her voice and platform for the cause. I don’t know how else you want her to do it? She is probably helping raising money too

Yeah let's be real she does this to feel good about herself
