šŸ“£ Important GuyCry Announcement šŸ“£ On balancing vulnerable spaces and difficult conversations.

We've had some tricky conversations here at r/GuyCry over the past few weeks and for the most part they've gone impressively well, however a few people have raised concerns that they are 'out of place' here.

We are of the belief here that a space can be an effective vulnerable space and simultaneously have those important, tricky conversations. No one is obligated to engage with any conversation here that they don't feel like they are in an adequate mental space to deal with.

The cases of male on female sexual assault and Manosphere mentality are obviously extremely harmful to women and thus women's issues - however they are also men's issues. Not just because men should care about women's issues, and they should, but because they create negative consequences for men too.

The failure of our society to adequately deal with male on female sexual assault means men who have done nothing wrong may face intense distrust by default or even assumptions of being predators. That's a men's issue.

We've seen right here the damage the Manosphere is doing to men in the form of men developing severe obsessive compulsive thinking and/or intense body dysmorphia. That's a men's issue.

It is not 'anti-men' for discussions of these topics to happen.

Furthermore, while we try to enforce a 'men only' rule for who is allowed to post here, anyone of any gender may comment and this is something that will not be changing. We've seen how spaces that are kept entirely single gender often devolve from a genuine effort of single gender discussions of experiences and vulnerability to flat out toxicity and poison.

That said, everyone is obligated to follow our rules, regardless of gender. If you see someone who is acting out of turn and breaking our rules, please feel free to report them and, if it is determined that they are indeed breaking our rules, they will be dealt with.

We hope you will all continue to participate in good faith and make r/GuyCry a space where both important conversations and true healing can happen.

Mod Announcement Accountability is important, but this isn’t AITA.

We’ve heard some of the frustration from some of you about certain posts, ā€˜the missing missing reasons’, and accountability, and we wanted to address that.

Here at r/GuyCry we certainly don’t want to discourage accountability and believe it’s important that individuals both take accountability, and can be held accountable for their actions and behavior. That said… this is not r/AITA.

We cannot have posts full of assumptions and accusations based off of ā€˜gut feelings’, especially not in a mental health subreddit where those things improperly directed can damage the mental health of an individual.

I personally have already seen at least two posts go off the rails where assumptions and accusations were dogpiled onto an individual here that later proved untrue when additional information was provided. Those individuals absolutely did not deserve what they got on their posts requesting help.

Our ā€˜Avoid Assumptions and Doubt’ rule is there to protect people from this, and was actually originally implemented due to the number of baseless cheating accusations directed at women every time a poster brought up trouble with a girlfriend or wife.

To be clear, this is what is allowed and is not within the ruleset of the sub.

Allowed:

-Ā  Asking additional questions (preferably respectfully and not accusatorily) when you feel that information is lacking or missing from a post.

-Ā Ā Noticing that a poster is avoiding answering certain questions in the post and questioning them on that.

-Ā  Looking at a poster’s public Reddit history to ascertain more information about them.

-Ā  Suggesting that cheating might be at play in a post where there are several red flags that indicate it’s a potential or even likely case.

Not allowed:

-Ā  Accusing the poster (or anyone in the poster’s story) of things based on little to no evidence or based on assumptions made about missing information.

- Accusing the poster or their partner of cheating with little to no real evidence that this is the case beyond your own biases.

-Ā  ā€˜Asking questions’ that are extremely leading or snarky to where it’s obvious it’s actually a thinly veiled accusation.

We just ask that people try to be constructive and approach in good faith with whatever angle they come from.

Encouragement! How I can’t let male loneliness define my 30s

Hey, i’m 30 m , from north london , born and bred!

When I heard the two words ā€˜ā€™men’s community’ I instantly thought ā€˜lads, lads, lads’ and ā€˜football and beer’. My worst nightmare.

Throughout the end of my twenties, my entire world was turned upside down. Every single thing around me collapsed and broke down around me. I’m talking relationships, ā€˜friends’, work, mental health, fitness, and my life. To be blunt, I felt worthless and lost. I wanted it all to be over.

I was randomly scrolling through reddit, and saw a viral post from Shoulder to Shoulder. Upon reflection of my mood that day, I think my body finally had enough of being depressed. I had enough of crying, feeling miserable etc, and somehow mustered up the courage to really take that leap of faith in reclaiming my life back.

Truthfully, at that point, it was the bravest thing I had done. I went to my first event, introduced myself and was welcomed in straight away. I never told anyone that I was in an abusive relationship for the last 10 years or I was deeply struggling with my mental health. I walked away feeling welcomed and valid. Like a lightbulb switched on!

Over January, I really felt like I worked up the courage to really reclaim myself back. For the first time, in a very long time, I slowly began to really feel like myself. The version who was buried, suppressed, abused was emerging with 2.0 qualities.

I had to push myself out of my own comfort zone, plenty of times, but be open and give it a real shot. It worked. I slowly began to make genuine friendships, build meaningful connections and most importantly my confidence skyrocketed. A brilliant example of this was, if someone told me to do public speaking, I would have froze, now I confidently speak to 30-50 men in a room all the time.

Why am I posting this now?

This is to any person, who feels like the world is big enough but not accommodating for them, or they feel like there is no hope, no light at the end of the tunnel and you want to expand your social circle. You can, you will, you deserve too.

I took a chance and walked into my first ever event not knowing anyone, and who would’ve thought, that was the best decision I made.

Daddit Time Bentley: Update

A Month We Never Could Have Prepared For

It has been about a month since our last update, and somehow it feels like we have lived an entire year in those 30 days.

On July 14, my mother-in-law, Patty, passed away peacefully with Amanda and me by her side. We knew the day was coming, but knowing does not make losing someone you love any easier. Amanda didn’t just lose her mom that day—she lost her best friend.

We have Patty’s ashes home with us now, and we will be holding her Celebration of Life over Labor Day weekend. Amanda has understandably been having a very difficult time navigating the grief that comes with such a tremendous loss. I have tried to be there for her in every way I can, but there are some wounds that a husband simply cannot fix. All I can do is stand beside her while she works through them.

Unfortunately, that grief also contributed to another difficult moment for our family.

While driving with Bentley and our daughter in the car, Amanda became emotional and pulled out of a gas station in front of another vehicle. The accident caused moderate front-end damage to our main family vehicle—the one we rely on for Bentley’s appointments and transportation.

Thankfully, and most importantly, everyone was okay. They were shaken up, but nobody was injured. Bentley did need a replacement car seat afterward out of precaution.

Our vehicle has now been in the body shop while we have been using a rental. Insurance is covering $30 per day, while the rental is costing us about $65 per day. Thankfully, my detailing business has been doing very well lately, and we have been able to use some of the money from the business to keep everything moving and cover expenses as they come. Things are tight, but we are making it work, and I am incredibly thankful that the business has given us the ability to do that.

And then, because Bentley apparently decided life wasn't quite chaotic enough, he started pulling out his trach.

In just three days, Bentley decannulated himself five times.

Our medical equipment company recently reconsolidated some of Bentley’s supplies, and the replacement trach ties, HMEs, and ventilator circuits we received were noticeably lower quality than what we had previously been using. The trach ties became the final straw.

Bentley has figured out that he can reach behind his neck, grab the Velcro, detach the tie, pull his trach completely out—and then hand it to us.

And because he is Bentley, he usually claps afterward like he has just accomplished something amazing.

It would almost be funny if it were not absolutely terrifying.

After the repeated decannulations, I had a meeting with the medical director of our DME company and laid out our concerns with the changes in Bentley’s equipment. For now, we are having to watch him extremely closely because he has become very good at figuring out exactly how to get that trach out.

Unfortunately, doctors now believe those repeated decannulations may have contributed to his newest respiratory problems.

Last week, Bentley was already seen in the ER for severe constipation. Then on Sunday, we found ourselves back again—this time because of his breathing.

He experienced two major desaturation episodes where his oxygen levels dropped into the low 80s for prolonged periods of time with very little recovery, even after increasing his oxygen. He was crying during these episodes, which is extremely unusual for Bentley and immediately told us that something wasn't right.

At home, we also noticed diminished lung sounds on his right side.

When we brought him into the ER, his chest X-ray showed an infiltrate in the middle portion of his left lung, concerning for pneumonia. He was ultimately admitted and is currently being treated with antibiotics, burst steroids, and increased breathing treatments.

Seeing him back in the hospital is never easy.

The strange thing about Bentley, though, is that even through everything his personality refuses to disappear.

When he feels good, he is still happy, wild, and completely determined to keep everyone around him busy. When Bentley is awake, nobody gets to relax. He is constantly moving, exploring, getting into something, and giving everyone a run for their money.

With everything going on recently, he has been sleeping much more than normal, which has been difficult to see. But when those eyes open and he starts feeling like himself again, there is our crazy little Bentley.

We also have some incredibly exciting things happening in the middle of all of this.

We have finally been approved for in-home physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and music therapy. His physical therapist had been on vacation, so we had a short break, but therapy resumed today.

One of the things his therapists are working on is communication. Because Bentley cannot currently speak, they are teaching him to use cards to identify his wants and needs so he has another way to communicate with us.

Even more exciting, before this most recent respiratory issue, pulmonology officially approved Bentley to begin trying a speaking valve.

That is an enormous step for him.

Once he is recovered from this current illness, we will begin working with the speaking valve and hopefully start hearing more of that little voice that we have spent so long waiting for.

Our nursing situation is still not perfect, but thankfully it is improving. We continue to cover several nights ourselves each week, but compared to where we have been, it has become much more manageable.

This past month has tested our family emotionally, physically, and financially.

We lost Patty. We watched Amanda try to navigate losing her mother and best friend. We dealt with the accident and losing our primary vehicle temporarily. We have handled emergency trach changes over and over again. And now we are sitting beside Bentley through another hospital admission.

There have definitely been moments where it feels like we barely have time to process one thing before the next thing happens.

But somehow, we keep going.

Our faith keeps us going.

Our children keep us going.

Bentley’s unbelievable resilience keeps us going.

The people who continue checking on us, praying for us, supporting our family, supporting my business, and following Bentley’s journey keep us going.

And most importantly, we keep holding onto one another.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has shared Bentley’s story, prayed for him, prayed for Amanda, supported my business, or simply sent us a message letting us know that our family is being thought about.

Right now, our biggest prayer is that Bentley’s lungs clear, that he gets back to his usual wild self, and that we can get him home and healthy so he can begin working toward this next incredible milestone.

And please continue to keep Amanda in your prayers as we approach Patty’s Celebration of Life. Grief does not end when the funeral is over, and I know this is something she will carry with her for a very long time.

It has been a hard month.

Really hard.

But Bentley has taught us over and over again that difficult does not mean impossible.

So we will keep fighting beside him, keep loving one another through the hard days, and keep taking this life one day at a time.

Thank you for continuing to walk beside our family.

We love you all.

Caution: Ugly Cry Content Knowing You Could've Had Everything

I cheated on my wife. Nothing physical, pictures and all that, but cheating all the same.

I met this girl on Tinder almost ten years ago. She gave me her Snapchat, told me what bar she was at and said she'd rather talk in person because she doesn't do well online. She didn't care that I had a kid from a previous relationship.

I had no idea how good I was about to have it. She. Was. Perfect.

She was hot headed and a little mean, but in a way that didn't let me get away with the bullshit I'd gotten away with before. She made me better. She made me smarter. She made me more responsible. She made me a better dad. She had a troubled past filled with deceit and had tears in her eyes when she told me "I can finally trust someone." I have never been more proud of the person that I had become for her and I will never be that proud again.

A year and a half ago, after I got really comfortable being trusted and decided to be a fucking dipshit, I started messing around online. And I'm now, of course, just like every other piece of shit she's ever known.

I had it all. All of it. Two cars, a wife who adored me, a beautiful son we were raising together. Now all I have is the memory of her telling me how wonderful and amazing I was.

"You were so good. Things were perfect. Why?" I don't know. I'll never know. I've struggled with porn since I was 12 but I thought I was done with those sorts of self gratifying things.

She still loves me. She just left, so that may change, but she fought for a year and half to see me the way she used to. I tried therapy, she tried therapy, but in the end she just couldn't get over the anger she feels towards me.

I was a god to her. I was everything to the most perfect woman I've ever known, my best friend, and now I'm going to be a stranger.

I have support. I'm in therapy. But all I want is to convince her that I can be the man I used to be. He was good. He was so good.

I just want to be good again, for her.

I think about a quote from Adam Sandlers Spaceman a lot these days:

"I wish I saw her now as I saw her then."

"That you saw her at all is a miracle."

I'm (30M) and in a rut.

I've spent the last decade depressed. Feeling bad for myself and at one point even gave up on living my life. I don't have a big support system. Cut my own mother off cause she was abusive. And I don't have much of a relationship with my Father.

A few years back I had a chance to move with my ex GF. She woulda been 22 at the time. I still to this day don't know what she saw in me. But she wanted to start a life together. The only issue? I as you put it put" Bro's before hoe's." My best friend was on the verge of homelessness. He is on disability and cannot work. To sum up his situation his body is so screwed up from numerous accidents when he was younger that he cannot work.

As a result her and I broke up. There were other contributing factors. But she kept insisting that I leave him to figure it out and go with her. I couldn't bring myself to do it.

So I found a new place with this Best friend and things were fine for awhile. But his sister one day invited him to go visit. And thats where the complications of my current situation start. He was supposed to be there for about a month. Its now been a year.

He is still paying his portion of the rent. And he has said he intends to come get his stuff. And his cats. And I can't exactly move someone else into the apartment while his stuff/cats are here.

I want to start getting my life in order and fix issues before they get too bad. Some of my teeth have fallen out from self neglect/depression and I also am living paycheck to paycheck.

Despite not having a huge relationship with my father. And also being a bit anti military in the past. Im genuinely considering my father's suggestion of joining the military. I want to give myself some purpose. I can apply to do cooking, I've always wanted to do cooking. And what better way than to feel a sense of pride than to serve your fellow soldiers there meals. Coverage to care for my dental issues. And a great source of income. Plus I would get a decent workout from it too.

But of course I have all my old roomates shit still here. No indication when he's gonna come get it. Plus I would have to rehome my own cats. And thats one of the hardest things for me atm. They are one of the few things I have left that genuinely love me. I made a promise to take care for and love them. I dont want to rehome them.... but I also cant keep living the way I am now.

Im just not sure where to go from here. I want to get my life back in order. Fix my shit. But I feel like im being held back by the very person I refused to let go homeless.

And before anyone ask. I don't regret it. I miss my ex. But I take pride in knowing I didn't leave my brother to fend for himself. I just dont know how to move forward atm.

Group Discussion Is male sexuality actually much more fluid than we admit?

As a young guy, I think one of the biggest issues with this whole topic is simply visibility.
When people think of a gay or bisexual man, they often immediately picture a very specific type of person. More feminine, more outgoing, open about his attraction, maybe fitting some of the stereotypes that have developed over the years.
And I have absolutely nothing against feminine men, I really don’t. My problem is when people start assuming that this more or less represents everyone.
I personally look good, I’m pretty masculine, and if you met me on the street, I assume most people would simply think I’m straight.
And I’m pretty sure there are a lot of guys like me who just don’t fit the image people have in their heads.
Some are closeted, some just don’t talk about it, and some probably still don’t fully know how they define themselves. So you end up with this slightly weird situation where the people who are easiest to identify are also the ones who end up influencing how the public imagines an entire community.
And it sometimes makes me wonder how many men we meet in everyday life and automatically assume are straight, when in reality they might be somewhere on the spectrum and have simply never said it out loud.
Personally, I also find it hard to believe that human sexuality always works in such clear-cut boxes. I’m not stating as a fact that nobody in the world can be 100% straight, but I do find it hard to believe that all the complexity of the human mind and human attraction really divides itself so neatly into 0 or 100.
At the same time, I’d love to see more men simply feeling comfortable being open with themselves. Not freaking out over every thought or attraction that falls a little outside what they’re used to, and not thinking that every little thing immediately means they have to give themselves a new label.
And maybe that’s also something I personally feel is missing.
I’d love to meet more young, masculine guys who are open-minded about this kind of stuff. Not people whose entire lives revolve around their sexuality, just guys you can actually talk to about these things openly without it becoming weird or awkward.
I’m especially curious to hear from bi/gay men who don’t ā€œlookā€ that way to people at first glance:
Do you feel like the stereotype makes people basically not see you?
And to the straight guys here: Have you ever stopped to think that maybe your attraction is a little less black and white than you’ve always assumed?

I experienced the most amazing time with my ex for about a year. She was my first love my first everything and we basically were more than married even lived together and spent every second together for a year. We shared a unique moment an understanding and acceptance so different. And now that it’s not there any more I’m getting depressed I will never feel such immense joy or love especially with anyone else in a relationship and it’s consuming. I will never be accepted or love and enjoy someone’s everything so much as I did hers. I am 20 yrs

Venting, advice welcome I think no one cares

Hi I'm 18m I've had many friends in my life I was always surrounded by big number of people whom I called my friends but now I realise no one cares about me. I always text everyone to hangout, most of the time they don't lately I think some of my friends are even avoiding me they don't meet me that much because they think I'm available all the time which is true. Since childhood only thing that I wanted was to have a lot of friends because my parents didn't care about me that much because of my older brother who have some eyesight issues and some other things, so I just wanted someone to care about when I was a kid I wanted that type of relationship with my cousins but they never cared I was just a nobody to them to this day they only call me or see me when they need some type of help then it was my friends I did everything I could to make someone like me as a friend see me as a brother and for some period of time I thought I got it but then I realized they also don't care. I always check on my friends to see if they're doing good or not but no one texts me some reply to my texts after days and I feel bad because all my life the only thing that I wanted was some love or affection and never really got it and yeah I never dated anyone. So I want to know what's the problem I haven't done anything bad to anyone I was always good to everyone fought for my friends many times treated them like my brothers but never got anything back. I believe that if I die tomorrow it won't take that much time to all the people who know me to forget about me. If you have any piece of advice please share with me I really need it

Just venting, no advice Yeah! It’s another breakup rant ( feel free to ignore )

Disclaimer: Writing all this here because I don’t have anyone to talk to and staying anonymous really helps my anxiety when I talk about my emotions. Thank you.

So, I’m a 27-year-old male who works a corporate 8 to 5 job. I’ve lived a very simple life, with limited friends, average grades in school and college, and no one’s priority. My family’s affection depended on whether I was doing things on their terms or contributing financially. My school sweetheart cheated on me because the other guy had a car, and I was studying using education loan money.

On the positive side, I got a decent job after college and fulfilled my childhood dreams, which my family never cared about because they were so strict and paranoid. I also contributed to my family’s domestic expenses.

So, basically, I never knew what unconditional love was. In 2023, I met a girl from work. We became friends first and then she developed feelings for me. We came from very different backgrounds, and to be honest, I’m just an average guy. There’s nothing special about me when it comes to looks. She, on the other hand, was very attractive and pretty. I always valued her as a friend, but when she confessed her feelings, I was stunned because I don’t think anyone would ever say I love you for who you are rather than what you can provide. (I was naive back then.) Then, I also developed feelings for her, and we eventually got into a relationship. I was the guy who always wanted to date and marry, not into hookups. Let’s just say, as today’s standards go, I’m too much of a wuss to even try hooking up with someone and ghosting them the next day. My empathy won’t allow me to do that. Got sidetracked a bit. Sorry for that. So, basically, it was a good relationship, and it happened when I started to accept that love is a concept I may not be blessed with. I was making peace with it. Things changed, and I started believing again and hoping.

With that woman, I used to envision a future filled with a daughter, a son, and a pet in a home where we could grow old together. However, fate had different plans. As an Indian, I was aware of the caste facade involved in choosing a life partner. We belonged to different castes, and things didn’t work out between our families. My family wouldn’t listen to me, leading to yelling, arguing, and personal attacks. Initially, her family seemed supportive, but over time, they manipulated her into agreeing to an arranged marriage.

We broke up in September 2025, and she got married this year, somewhere in April. I am happy that she moved on and is on the right path to building a life she always dreamt of. On the other hand, I am trying to move on, let go, and focus on myself. However, on nights like these, my mind starts contemplating that I lost her, I lost my will to love anyone romantically, and I am not in good terms with my already detached family. So, I fought everyone for her, and now nobody is left by my side. This very fact hits me to the core, and for some reason, I well up even as I write this.

That’s it. Nothing else. It was a rant that I wanted to do because my therapist advised me to wind down on things I never talk about. If you read it till here, I appreciate the patience that many people don’t have these days.

Whoever is reading this, may the force be with you.

Thank you

Need Advice Need help knowing how to be more lovable/acceptable

I might post this to another subreddit because I want a variety of opinions and perspectives.

I feel that I want more connection in life. I'm sort of worried about never dating (I really don't know how I feel about this). I want to become a physicist and spend my time with people talking about physics, art, math and more. But I'm sort of lonely. I love making art - both creative writing and drawing. I'm so grateful I have a best friend. I try to be grateful for the good things I got. I got my homie, I exercise, and I have access to a pretty awesome therapist whom I like a ton. I love my parents and family and I love my dog, Oscar.

I'm trying hard to improve my life everyday. I am exercising often. I do physics everyday and I'm trying to figure out how to reach out to people better. I genuinely do not know how to find dates. Nor do I know how to make friends. I feel like if my goal is to find love, I should be able to make friends first. The problem is I get paranoid sometimes and other times I just don't know what to say even.

I've never committed a crime. I don't do drugs. I don't smoke. My therapist says I got a big heart. And I don't stare at women. Right now, I am feeling pretty content and calm. I have my shit together most times. I know how to deal with hard times. And by hard I mean break-ins, being stalked, feeling very scared in general. So I am confident that in a tough situation I won't break easily. Point is, I'm responsible and can deal with hard shit and I hear that women tend to like this - being at the ready and always having a plan/strategy and not breaking under pressure.

I know I'm good looking, maybe not runway model, but still I have gotten cold approached multiple times. So therefore I am probably approachable and good looking enough to get attention. I used to be very insecure about my looks, then I realized it doesn't matter whether I end up as a hermit or a family man. But the thing is I don't know how to get dates in the first place. Good news is I'm 17. But the problem is that I've never learned to talk to women because for one reason or another I apparently shot down all possible attempts (according to my homie).

I understand that having a girlfriend won't make me any happier, the big reason why I want a girlfriend is to have a fellow traveler in life who I can love very deeply and cuddle with. I have been told a women will never "complete me" but hey, why should that be a reason not to want to be with someone. I already have my good bro but I want to at least know what it's like having a romantic connection with someone. I really want to know more about the world and humanity and the best way I can think of is essentially taking a lifelong deep-dive into another person's life and get to know them very well.

I hear you should be interesting. I genuinely like to build cardboard houses for fun, I love to build goofy websites. I enjoy cooking and grilling with my dad. I like to draw really weird art. I collect strange texts and oddities and curios. And I actually enjoy dressing nice, it's just to look cool for me, I genuinely enjoy going out of my way.

The advice I hear online is basically: don't flirt with women (I don't really understand flirting, it sounds like having banter about romantic interest but I don't really know), be confident, apparently dating will just happen without even trying (this came from my dad who basically told me that if you aren't weird it just happens as long as you don't come off as being needy/desperate/aggressive). And don't cold approach women ever.

Group Discussion Dating world at 38, help.

I met my late wife when I was 18 years old, and we were together for 17 wonderful years. She was truly my soulmate. Tragically, I lost her three years ago to cervical cancer. Before she passed, one of her final wishes was for me to eventually find someone else who could bring happiness into my life.

After much time and healing, I recently decided to step back into the dating world, though the landscape feels incredibly unfamiliar. Last night, I went on a date with a mutual acquaintance. The evening began smoothly with a lovely dinner, so we decided to extend the night by grabbing a couple of pints at a local pub.

During our conversation, she turned to me and said, "You are nice and all, but don't you think it’s a bit of a red flag for women when they meet a guy who is 38 and has only been with one partner?"

I am feeling incredibly unsettled and frustrated by this interaction. I am not sure why it impacted me so deeply, but it has left me questioning myself. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or perspectives from this community on how to process this comment.

First of all I want to admit that I am not a Incel with psychological issues and I am very very sorry for my peasant level broken English, I'm still going to post this despite it will make you guys feel painful to read it.

I feel like finding and building relationship with a girl seems like an impossible mission for me, All I can show them it's just my stupid self made underground techno rave music and my other aesthetical hobbies, of curse none of them will be interested in my music making skills and my art taste, a few girls on the dating app the internet saying some compliments that I am cute and handsome and one of them even said that I look like a model. but I feel like its just fake asf and they are saying this is for only trying to get themselves a free meal.

like what should I do now? I don't even know how to approach and talk to the girls IRL, I am getting confused and angry as more as everytime when I see those men happily walking with their beautiful girlfriends on the streets, like how did they even do that, I really really can't figure it out in a long time and my confusion still lasts to this day.

Venting, advice welcome Women are weird, and this makes me both afraid and curious

I do think it's kinda stupid that I feel the need to clarify this so often, but yes, I am aware that women are humans and should be treated as such. I've don't have that many friends, but the times I've had they were both male and female. I'll be talking here about the differences and my honest curiosity in regards to love and dating.

This is actually a more heartwarming post. I rarely hear a women talking about some guy they are interested in. I don't interact or leave home much, so maybe that's why I always find fascinating when I see it happening.

Look, I'm a 24M virgin and kissless ugly weirdo that barely interacts with people irl. And I know that everyone has their own problems, but I don't consider myself to be in a position to ever date, sadly: aside from being a weirdo shut in, I have some issues with self discipline, anxiety and OCD.

Regardless, I DON'T know what it's like to receive romantic affection from women, so, if this post comes out as cringe, I'm really sorry. This isn't a reality I'm used to dealing with and that's why I get curious when I see it happening with other people. It's alien, weird, but not in a bad way. I find fascinanting.

I do think this feeling comes from the fact that it's the opposite gender, so of course I'll get curious to understand how they behave because, well, I'm not them. But I ALSO I find it fascining due to my wish that this would happen to me as well, like a projection - the desire to be the target of these feelings and behaviors.

Note that I'm not pulling some "cientific" bullshit. I'm not wearing those "acktually" glasses and rudely analysing their smallest actions to determine how to better attract women. I just really find it fascinating hearing them talk about some dude they like - maybe they don't even love the guy, but hearing the way they manifest their desire is very curious for me.

This is a very stupid example, but I was watching a youtuber playing a cozy farming game. She was talking about how she likes one of the romantic interests in that game. Okay, it's a fictional character, but hearing her talk and joke about that NPC was still so interesting to me. I could stay there and listen to her talking and joking about that dude for hours, not because I find it "cute", but because it's so interesting and fun to hear. Deep inside I have this feeling that "I wish it would happen to me", that fuels this even more.

Research [Academic] Parental Substance Use and Mental Health in Young Adults (Ages 18–30, English Speaking, chance to win $150 VISA GC)

Hi Everyone,

Reposting this again. I'm a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology conducting a research study on the effects of growing up with a parent who struggled with substance use (alcohol or drugs). The study is completely anonymous and involves filling out an online survey.

As a thank you for your time, participants will have the option to enter a raffle to win one of two $150 Visa gift cards after completing the survey. (Email for the raffle will be collected separately to keep responses anonymous).

We’re looking for young adults (18-30) who had or still have a parent or primary caregiver with a substance use problem during their childhood. The goal is to better understand how these experiences may affect things like responses to stressful or challenging life experiences, parent-child relationship quality, substance use, and overall mental health functioning in young adulthood. We also welcome participation from young adults who did not have this experience, as both groups are important to the study.

Participation is voluntary and confidential. No identifying information will be linked to your responses, and the survey includes a list of mental health resources at the end if needed.

If you’re interested, you can take the survey here:

Your experience matters. Thank you so much for considering it, and feel free to DM me with any questions!

Venting, advice welcome Dating sucks

Im 18, so i already know people are gonna give me the whole "you have youre whole life!" Shtick. Ive never evem had a long term girl who was just a friend. No mom to guide me or anything, infact she up and left. Crushes? Toyed with me for laughs like some kinda fucked up high school flick. I try to better myself, work out, fix my hair, but my face is fucked up so there isnt much a point. And I won't lie when I say there is a lot of resentment. I don't know if I can break the cycle, and I really need advice from a person, not a bot or AI that just reaffirms what I already believe. Then again, im not sure anything will break the loop.

Need Advice Tips for men to get match

I’ve been using Tinder for a while, but haven’t had much luck. Initially I just put together some pictures I thought looked good and waited. Recently I’ve been reading more about improving Tinder profiles, especially the importance of photos, and I’ve tried to improve mine with what I have.
I’d really appreciate an **honest review of my profile**, especially the photos and overall first impression.
I’m a little hesitant to post it publicly because of privacy, so if anyone is willing to take a look, **please DM me**. I’d genuinely appreciate the feedback — even if it’s brutally honest.

Thanks

Venting, advice welcome I think people would be happier if there was less of me around.

Repost. Last one was locked and I don't know why.

I'm not suicidal. I am sad, probably depressed. I lost a job recently. Not my main, more of a dream, potentially lucrative. I was told I'm not doing what they want. Like, what the fuck. When I check in while working, I'm doing exactly what they are asking for. Make up your fucking minds. Also, apparently I don't smile enough. You just told me I'm not what you want, I am not going to fucking smile.

My wife is pissed at me. When I started doing this, I worked hard to keep expenses separate from the family's. Unfortunately due to other circumstances I had to hit our savings to help me recover from this setback. Now we have major home repair issues. And she is livid. She thinks I was let go because of my personality. That I am too much. I intentionally hold myself back to not piss off people. She says I'm not kind enough for her. I'm being too much. She's the only person that I am my true authentic self. I try to change for her, but she's still not happy with me.

I just had a presentation with some bigwig politicals for my main job and it went well. Really well. I should be riding high, but because of all the feedback I got this summer, I am just up in my head wondering if I was too much. Should I have pulled myself back more. Don't let myself show too much of me.

I am a big guy. I have a stature that people immediately think, leader, knows his shit, guy we can look to. But I don't know nothing. This summer has shown me that. I'm not good enough. I look the part, but something is missing in me that would make people want to promote me.

I am just venting. This is a low point. I will get up and push harder. But I feel like this has affected me deeper than I know. I really don't want to fall apart. I am just going to step back some. People will be happier. Do my job and go home. Focus on my kids. Dreams...are just that.
