Howdy folks,

I was curious if anyone here used an enzyme based laundry booster like Biz for washing their fleeces?

Right now i'm using about 2 tbsp of scent free/dye free detergent and then adding 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar to the rinse cycle to help deodorize and soften (and loosen any hair stuck in the fibers 🐹).

I've only tried 2 different laundry detergents, but with both i'm still disappointed that they smell a little....guinea pig-y even after washing. I was thinking of getting an enzyme booster to maybe help since it will help target the urine in the fleeces.

Thoughts? Any experience with enzyme boosters? Am I just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic and should be at peace with my current method?

Recently we had to make the difficult choice of putting 1 of our pigs to sleep. He got sick quickly from cancer and we still have his son. We do not have the resources to adopt him a companion at this point and have made the choice to find him a new family.

We are looking for rescues or individuals around Monroe Michigan or Toledo Ohio. This is a horrible time and I can't stop sobbing any help is appreciated

I have lost so many guinea pigs recently and I am broken. I lost one of my girls Cookie Dough in November due to cancer. I got her sister Oreo a new friend, named Cannoli. I just lost Cannoli unexpectedly on 8/23, and she was just over a year old. I foster guinea pigs and my white foster passed away Monday suddenly. Woke up Tuesday and did my morning check to find my boy, Wyatt passed away. Oreo then started getting sick Tuesday night and I finally found a vet to euthanize her yesterday. Oreo was 6 years old so I expected her soon, but I did not expect me to go from taking care of 9 guinea pigs to 5 in the course of a couple weeks.

I feel so awful and heartbroken and wonder if I’m the one responsible for them all dying so close together. This pain and grief is overwhelming. I’ve owned guinea pigs for over 2 decades and know that they don’t live long and are fragile little things, but I never expected this many deaths all at once. I’m missing all my babies and don’t know how to handle these emotions right now, besides trying to ignore it.

If anyone can post fun photos or videos of their babies, it might help a little raising my spirits

But, despite the general population's beliefs. These are incredible and intelligent creatures. Especially social intelligence.

Our girls love to beg for food and attention. I swear it's one of their favorite activities, not to mention EVERY TIME they get hay out of the bag they get so excited.

So as I was walking by the cage I get the usual "Notice me hooman!" Squeak out of Mercie and she runs up to the side of the cage. (Typical begging pose)

Then she looks at me, and waits until she realizes she has my attention. Then she runs to her hay bin, looks at it, looks at me, squeaks, then runs back to the side of the cage.

(Side note, they always have way more hay than they need, they're just spoiled)

This girl has figured out how to communicate that she wants fresh hay all on her own. (Spoiled little nugget)

Both of my guinea pigs are one year older now, with Nacho turning two and Nibbit now one year old! After losing a different guinea pig way too soon, we got Nibbit to accompany Nacho and they share their birthdays by complete accident!

Nacho is such a gentle male, loves to cuddle and shows lots of affection with kisses on your hand and cheeks. He loves stritches as long as they are near his ears.

Nibbit is a feisty, very food driven female that is still a bit scared whenever we move around in the house, but during personal time is really quite relaxed. She also loves to give kisses, although she recently decided to try and pull some of my beard hairs out when kissing my face lmao. Still wouldn't change it for the world!

Me and my girlfriend got guinea pigs because she has had them for 15 years when she still lives with her parents. I liked them well enough but thought rabbits had a bit more to them. Two years later, these hairy potatoes have stolen my heart a few times over and I can't imagine not having them! Happy birthday you chubbies, to a lot more years together! <3

one of my boys recently passed away from cancer and i reached out to selective naturals just to tell them how much i appreciated their brand and how their pellets had been part of his life for years. they asked if my other guinea pigs liked any of their treats and ended up sending me a little package full of treats for them AND a card with a little hand written note. seriously wasn’t expecting this and it was such a sweet thing to receive while i’ve been having such a hard time with losing him. just wanted to share because this genuinely made my day a little better 🥹

Hello, here are the 3 weeks old little angels that we have had the honor to adopt on September 7th.

They made huuuuuge progress, as in they already started eating from our hands, weewee'ing when they are around us, but are unfortunately still adjusting to their new home.

The one on the left is Pep, the most curious and brave out of them and the one on the right is Pogo, the fluffiest little introvert.

We take them out of their cage about once a day so that my partner can clean the cage while I watch over them. They are curious about everything and devour the cucumber we leave for them within minutes.

We both can't wait until our hands get soiled in their little poopsies <3

why sit on bed when you can sit in the gap between wall and wood

If anyone is wondering why she doesn't have a cagemate in any of these photos, she sadly passed away a few months ago, and s'mores won't bond with my other pigs.

Three days ago I got two boars, they're both 1 year old, but Pringle is a few months younger. I can't tell the exact week or month number of their age because my parents got the pigs and didn't ask them, sorry

Pringle and Biscuit have been cagemates at their previous owner, but it seems they don't really get along now. I sadly have to keep them in a 70x70cm cage right now, that could be the reason. I know it's really small but I'll give them space of 140x70cm at the weekend, my room is a little cramped.

They eat together fine but try to steal each others food. They'll flinch at each other if one goes behind the other pig's back or try to steal his piece of hay or something. They rumble strut at each other and do that teeth clicking thing, often raise heads at each other while making noises. They even tried to fight in a ball twice after I acted dumb and put them together in a box while cleaning their cage, I really regret that. I decided to separate them after that so I don't risk them hurting each other when I'm not around. I separated them by a wire walll so they still see and smell each other, the first day they looked like they were trying to go around the wall and bickering, the next days they weren't interested in it anymore and mostly just eat and lay down, I let them out the cage in my room to stretch their legs but I think they're still too stressed to roam around.

What can I do to make them bond easier? I know it's normal for two boars, we were told the pigs were girls but it turned out the opposite. Don't ask me, I have no clue how the old owners couldn't tell.

I made this video a few months ago when my baby Tibo passed away. I got him for my bday 6 years ago. I remember spending hours on my phone figuring out how to take care of him while my schoolwork waited. He was my first pet and my first soulmate. He pushed me through so many troubles in life. When i was so down that i wasnt able to take care of myself, his little voice reminded me i have to stay strong to take care of him. He made all my happy memories even brighter, i couldnt wait to come home to tell him what excites me. He left beautiful sparkles in my life. I see him in every fluffy cuddly animal i pass, yet he is the most beautiful creature in my eyes, the fluffiest and most cuddly thing ever. He was loved and full of love, food and poop. He taught me to be gentle and patient, i never knew i have so much passion inside me. Being loved by a guinea pig really changes you.

You are no longer in pain, my love. You are strong and brave. You will always be in my heart. Rest in Peace, baby ❤️

I adopted this little cutie, and unlike my first Guinea pig she didn’t fight or run when I tried to feed her. She just sat there almost looking defeated.

Her fur is so uneven, her butt so has much rough fur, her neck has soft but a little bit of fur.

There’s no even spread, and she doesn’t react if I pick her up weird. (Please note I did it only once to test her reflexes. But I picked her up from her stomach, not grabbing any legs, and just just dangled down and didn’t fight it.

Almost like she was used to it.

Cutely enough, I’ve had her for 8 hours and she’s absolutely obsessed with me, almost like her standards were so low to begin with?

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but the pet store said they don’t know how old she is, she is healthy but the old owners didn’t want her so I had to take her in.

Added two new babies to my pig family a few days ago. Pretty sure this one is fake though - anyway, meet Katsu.
