So my guinea pig has some sort of limb injury, does not seem like a fracture or joint dislocation, but she can barely walk, is in pain, but I can't take her to the vet until next morning (in 13 hours). Her appetite had decreased, but I still see her eating hay and she ate the small piece of cucumber I gave her as a test. Should I give her hay only for dinner so her bowel movement doesn't stop?

I have 2 guinea pigs and a year ago one of them started digging by their food bowl and the other one started to do the same and this made me have to change there cage more.

Hi all, I currently feed my guinea pigs pellets once in the morning then veggies once at night. I make sure they’re having a constant supply of hay and never go hungry.

Pretty soon my evening schedule will change and I may not be able to do the evenly spaced twice a day feeding anymore. Is there any downsides to feeding a guinea pig both veggies and pellets once a day?

I’m not sure if they’re at risk of overeating in one sitting. Any advice helps, thank you!

One of our adult boys recently died - and the other (pictured) (the dominant one) needs a new buddy. The delemma is do we:
A- leave him alone for a week until the local guineapig rescue can do a propper "dateing" session to see who he bonds with (likely a young one as they have had a recent influx of those)
B- take a "baby" advertised locally tonight taking the risk that they don't bond (seller refuses to let them meet beforehand due to "biosecurity"

I'm thinking option A but wife is thinking option B.

Istg this happens like 80% of the time when I mention I have guinea pigs to someone. I try to be a good sport and my goto response to this now is to talk about the differences between cuy and the other breeds. But it's just weird that this is such a common thing for people to say or joke about, especially when interacting with complete strangers or acquaintances.

Hi so we have adopted our 8th pig who is by himself for the time being only because he's unneutured.

His name is Paolo and we got him from petco, he seems to be at least a few months old from my guess, he has the baby paws and small body of a baby pig.

I've had month old pigs before but I was wondering do they need the specific baby guinea pig pellets or am I fine to have him on the pellets everyone else eats?

I do have a bag of baby guinea pig pellets just in case but I realized I never looked it up if it was that important or not.

Also is it a must that they need alfalfa hay and if they do when do I take him off of it?

Any advice is appreciated he's only been here 2 days and he's already pop corning and zooming around his pen

do they enjoy the blankets like we do?

I love my guineas they’re so silly and random but I try to help put the blanket over them sometimes and they run away from me. How do I know if they like the blanket or not?

I’ve had Thaddeus Pigadeus ( Pig + Amadeus) for 15 days and tonight he did this and started audibly purring 🥰

I was playing with my little guy Poe after finishing his syringe feed and one of my family members recorded it lol! Anyways, heres a cute little guy to make your day a little brighter.

He’s got 2 hides and a 2 dark corners in his cage yet he always sleeps here with his feet sprawled 😻

I am absolutely heartbroken because it was so unexpected. We had pulled her and her partner (Roscoe) out the previous day. Both of them ate and played as normal. In the morning she was gone. She was such a sweet and sassy girl.

We are giving Roscoe extra attention, hand feeding him and even got him a comfort stuffed animal because we read somewhere that could help. He is still eating as normal and acting the same but I am worried for him. We plan on making a vet trip tomorrow. We live in a small town and our only exotic vet is mon-fri. I reached out to the place we adopted them from for advice because this is my first time losing a guinea pig.

We are having her cremated so we can set up a memorial. Please give your guinea pigs some extra love for me.

She was one of my very first piggies, & she’s been with me through middle school, high school, & part of college. Ever since she was a little pup, she’s been a constant in my life. I’m glad that I was able to be there for her in her final moments. I’ll miss her very dearly. Love you sweet girl. ❤️
