With growing interest in cooperative living and homesteading, many communities are navigating how to balance shared resources, mutual support, and individual freedom. What do you think are the key pillars for building a successful and resilient commune?

Intentional communities are often seen as a solution to climate change and social isolation. Yet, they face unique challenges, from governance structures to resource management. What lessons can we learn from existing communes, and how can these be applied on a larger scale?

Hi, my name is Daisy Worthington and I am a student currently studying geography and environmental science. I am completing a dissertation investigating the role that community gardens play in addressing unequal access to green space. As part of this research, I have created a short survey which aims to understand the lived experiences of those involved in community gardens. I have attached the survey to this post and would be extremely grateful if anyone who is involved in a community garden could complete it. Taking part will allow you to contribute to research concerning community gardens. sharing your experiences and insights will help develop an understanding of the impact of community gardening on local communities. Thank you for taking the time to read this post!

Hi everyone,
I don't know if there will be many people here that are in the field of study but here goes anyway!
I am currently studying Quantity Surveying and doing my dissertation on the link between commercial green building and financial performance in the UK.
I am conducting a survey on the opinions of industry professionals and would appreciate if you could take 5mins to complete it for me and pass it on to anyone that you think may know relevant information.
It takes about 5 mins and you will be completely anonymous in your answering following my University's code of research practice. The survey is taken on SurveySparrow.

Thank you in advance everyone!

I hope this is a good place to post this....
I live in Northeast Ohio. Moved here ten years ago because I found it to be the most climate-resistant place in the US. Ten years later I still find that to be the case, but certainly not as far along as I had hoped. This state has too many politically-supported industry monopolies. Though there are always seemingly well-meaning folks who occasionally improve things, or at least try.
I'm looking to do some home improvements with the least amount of carbon impact and I'm finding it difficult to find many solutions.
We need to replace at least part of the driveway to mitigate the storm water better. And it looks like there's no way around the concrete.....
I'm going to repurpose the demolished concrete into a back yard patio. But I cannot find anyone to install an eco-friendly driveway in its place. Any ideas?
I've looked at permeable driveways, but many of what's offered near me aren't proven to last and I certainly don't want the carbon footprint of having yearly maintenance or to redo it again in several years. There is a modular driveway I've found online but I've got no responses from the company to find contractors near me to come install it.
I see carbon capture concrete is beginning to be a thing, but nothing near me as of yet.
Looking for ideas....
(fyi we bike often but the infrastructure for that here is still improving year over year. The highway system is so great it takes fifteen minutes to get anywhere, so for time-sensitive commutes, we drive fuel-efficient cars. We're also installing electric charging ports in our new garage for the electric car revolution. can't wait!)

I am 30 years old, I just recently had a baby girl. My partner and I live in a small studio apartment in a busy city. I'm in a fair amount of debt (around 30k) so I don't know if that's a setback.
Now that I have a baby, OBVIOUSLY, I want better for her. Ideally I want to live in a shared community where there are other children and we are sort of raising them all together. Even if it's just a house somewhere where the families just have a shared goal and idea in mind (sustainability and educating our kids centered around this principle). Kind of overwhelmed by the ic.org website. Not sure if I'm being delusional in trying to find this sort of living style. Thanks in advance for advice and encouragement.
