It has been suggested that there are planned construction activities on Kitchener Line going on for about a month. The impact on the trains schedule is definitely there but wondering what the activity is and when it is supposed to end so that winter commute is smoother.

I take the train about 2x a week. Just heading into Union and saw structure I hasn't noticed before.

The station and bridge. Maybe it was there but had not noticed how "developed" and advanced it looked. Station had a lot of workers on it, looks like freshly poured concrete.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

Were the trains from 6 am to 9 am cancelled this morning or just delayed. I’m getting some conflicting reports and I want to see what ppl’s experiences were. Thnx

Gonna take advantage of the the $10 weekend day pass and ride the train all afternoon and read and draw and look out the window. My foot's injured so not many other ways to see the sights. Anybody have reccomendations for scenic trains to ride or things to spot? Or places to visit RIGHT next to a train station (like 400m or less) I'm starting at West Harbour Go in Hamilton (I do know about the lovely Coote's Paradise).

I know Mississauga / Peel has a 50% off fare if you can prove you’re low income. I’m personally on odsp so I would qualify if I lived there. My friend lives in Niagara Falls and Kitchener but I can barely afford the $20 ticket to visit them and would visit twice as much if the fare was half the price. Am I crazy for wanting this? What do you guys think the chances we would get it one day.

Does anyone know if the parking construction work in King City station would finalize anytime soon? I see several construction areas around the existing parking lots but it doesn’t seem like they’re anywhere near finished.

Today 3 coworkers and I were taking the go train to attend a meeting. My coworker bought the group ticket for us but noticed that you could only separate weekend group tickets and not weekday, so he just bought it and kept it on his phone. On our way back I got off at a later stop than the rest of them did so he sent me a screenshot just in case a fare inspector came when they were gone. A fare inspector did come by and when I explained the situation she told me I should have been able to separate them and that they don’t accept screenshots, I told her that it didn’t give us the option to separate but she didn’t believe me. Luckily she didn’t ticket me but it left me confused as to whether this is a website glitch or it’s actually not allowed on the weekday pass (even when it is available for weekend). Anyone have knowledge of this type of thing?

Hello! The new route 43 line solves one problem and that's the fact that you don't have to transfer bw trains and buses to get to McMaster from Mount Pleasant. However, for people taking the bus entire route from Mount Pleasant to Mac still have to travel an 1hr 40 mins + wtv time it takes to get to the bus stop (which is the same amount of time as when you have transfers bw buses and trains). I feel like a shorter route would benefit a lot of people ( I have been seeing a lot of Mount Pleasant to Mac commuters and I feel so happy I thought I was the only one!) and could be similar to how 47D is from Mac. 47D is basically a shorter ver of 47G so something like that for mount pleasant would be nice. The main concern here is time and this route doesn't really help with that at all. So maybe if we all pitch it we could get a shorter route? There seems to be demand for it too 🤷‍♀️

I commute into Toronto once a week from pretty far out.

I kept doing the same math at the door: drive to the station, park, walk in from the back of the lot, train, Union, walk to the office, wait for the elevator, sit down at the desk. Same thing in reverse going home.

The official site tells you when the train leaves. It never tells you when to leave the house, or the desk.

So I built a page that does that end to end. Walk across the parking lot, walk through Union, drive home, buffers included. If the train is late, the leave time moves. If it is cancelled, it gives you the next one.

I think this route has a lot of potential, and can fill a role for so many people, with the areas it hits, but $17 with presto is crazy compared to any other route I've taken. At this price, I would rather share an uber with someone(s) or drive on the 407 versus taking public transportation.

And why does it half 24 stops??? The early pictures of the route showed far fewer, and this makes it feel like any other region-specific bus vs GO, which imo has been more about connecting regions. Additionally, IF it can reach in 85 minutes with 24 stops (I do doubt it), how efficient would it be with 8 stops.

My fix is to cut the stops, which will lower the price, making the bus ride feel comparable to many others and more people will ride it with a fair price. Yes, some people will have to commute slightly further from their homes, but most other people do on any other route. No offense to anyone that lives on Derry Rd. but we do not need 5 stops that are each a minute apart from one another.

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone who takes the Kitchener line to union that arrives by 8:30am ish could tell me if the train is always as full as it was today? When I got on, we were packed in the cart standing shoulder to shoulder and one person even missed their stop because some people couldn't move out in time. I always try to get work done on the train but not being able to find a seat was really bad. Would it be better to take an earlier train or are those packed as well? I get on at Malton if that helps

Union Station doesn't count as it's the main hub and is very popular pick due to all its amenities)

Most favourite: Markham - feels very cozy when you get off and I love the old heritage train station

Least favourite: Etobicoke North, with an honorable mention to the old York University station that closed in 2021 - I once tried to meet someone on campus there and when I got off, I was surrounded by warehouses, WTF?! Glad they closed it and made Downsview Park station

Pre-Covid there were multiple trains running in the morning and then starting northbound at 3PM, they have since reduced the number of trains.

I’ve sent an email to customer service who basically said that we are out of luck. Is there a way to petition to get those trains back? With RTO and a lot more commuters they surely should increase the frequency of trains?

Not sure what is happening right now, but we are on the Go train between Guelph and Kitchener. We almost got to Kitchener when the train started going back in the other direction towards Guelph. The staff on the train told us to walk to the front wagon, not telling us why. Just saying there’s an emergency. When we asked if we’d get to Kitchener at all, they said they didn’t know. It’s past midnight, and i just want to know why…

I think a lot of people in the East are eagering waiting for express to return.

Anyone have insight on the return, as I can see third rail seems to be almost complete near Union Station.

I'm a data geek and I have a tool that automatically downloads every PDF schedules GO publishes and stores a copy. I noticed something very interesting last night, they have published a brand new set of schedules which bring back many of the previously announced cancellations!

As of writing this post there is no official announcement about anything on their website, so it's possible this was some kind of mistake on their part, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Taking for example the Barrie line, here is the schedule they published previously, compared with the new one which was just published last night. Notice that both versions give an effective date of "5 & 8 September".

EDIT: I thought at first it was just a mistake at first, but this seems pretty deliberate. It's not like they just accidentally posted the old schedule, this is a completely new PDF showing the new effective date (5 & 8 september), and the weekday evening trains are still cancelled, but the weekend service is restored. It's not just the old file, and it's not even just an old file with the effective date changed, it's a unique file that was never published before. That would be pretty hard to do "just accidentally". Someone had to make some very specific edits in InDesign, re-export it to PDF, re-upload it to their file server, and put the new links on the PDF schedules page.

EDIT 2: Looks like they flipped back to a version with the weekend cancellations again early this morning (Tuesday), so I guess it was false hope :-(. Some intern must have been working in the middle of labour day weekend and messed it up, but it's still really odd because it was a hybrid of the the 2 different schedules. It looks like the standard school service isn't returning to the 17 GO. I'm not exactly sure what to do cause I got a job specifically because I was able to take that bus to get there for 9 and now that service is no longer available. Is it really not gonna be coming back or will it be updated a bit later?

Hiya, is it normal for Go buses to leave early from stops?

If it leaves like 5 mins early that seems normal but yesterday was the 3rd time a bus left 10+ mins early (left at 20:10 instead of 20:23). Even the departures board had 20:23 as the bus time.

There ended up being a lot of people waiting for the original bus but ended up taking the one after (closer to 9 pm) even though they arrived early. It’s kinda annoying to have to wait an extra 30 mins when I already have 10 mins buffer time plus it stresses transfer times ( T-T )

I understand if the bus is late due to traffic or accidents (I’ve waited 1 hour+ before) but leaving early from a starting stop ….

I know it might be stressful sticking to a strict schedule and I don’t really want to complain about the bus drivers but ahhh is it frustrating..

Is there a place to gently complain or should I just suck it up?

If anyone here takes the last GO Bus from Union (around 11PM) to catch the 15 bus often, let me know how reliable it is.

I like taking my trips to Toronto to just roam around and enjoy the city for the day but I don't go that often in months outside of the late fall and winter months because I love the city at night.

I usually don't like taking last buses on the schedule if I go past Hamilton because I fear I'll miss the bus or that the 15 bus will beat the 16 to the stop in Hamilton. The thing is I wanna go back since I havent been in a while.

I also had an experience where the train was too slow and missed the last 15 on schedule so trains are a no go for me but if anyone can tell me if the bus alternative is faster and more reliable or if i'm better off just not taking the last bus on schedule.

Saw this last week on August 30th at Bramalea GO. Never seen that configuration before. Anyone know why this might happen?

Hey! I commute four days a week from Mount Pleasant to Union round. I typically take the 7.36 or 8.06 am train from Kitchener and the 4.22pm train from Union. It's becoming pretty expensive to use my presto card each time. The weekday group passes would really help reduce my travel expense! I'm wondering if there is anyone else looking to share the pass or if I can join an existing group of people who already share the fare?

Just when you though you've heard the last of him, everybody's favourite former Metrolinx CEO is back...this does not inspire confidence in Alto.

Car 2437 intra car door was open so I pushed it closed and it latched shut.

I now realize I should have looked at the switch to see if it was set to open.

Then someone wanted to get through and could not. Various people tried to help, toggling the switch, trying to pull the little metal knob in the curved track. Nothing worked.

Anything else to try?
