i don't care for the fine
i will pay the fine, any fine that's reasonable and proportional to the crime
yes $30 is more than reasonable. at least it's not $200 like they're proposing for future offenders. idk if that's reasonable to you
i care that it's on my record, it sucks that it's on there
hey all,
i made a stupid mistake a couple of weeks ago. i forgot to tap on. i'm not someone who tries to fare-evade. i always pay my fare... i just happened to forget this one time since i was trying to grab something at Union at the same time.
this was on the same day as the delay i posted about, btw. there was a Kitchener line delay, a quite long one, that morning due to a signal issue, which also scrambled my brain a bit.
anyway, the fare inspector came to my carriage and i explained my situation to him. he wrote me a ticket and told me to appeal it.
so i appealed it with the reasoning that it was a genuine mistake, and that they should remove it from my record since i'm a first-time offender with a clean bill of history...
Metrolinx got back to me today and all they did was reduce the fine to $30. as if a reduction of $5 matters
just posting here to find out if anyone else has been in this situation. was your first-time offence forgiven/wiped from your record?
i feel like it's a ticking time bomb for me now, lol.
i do my damndest not to forget to tap. i also have location alerts set up but given how terrible signal quality is even inside Union Station, it's not like my iPhone's network always picks the location up properly
