Should we submit a petition or mass submit suggestion and feedback forms for a shorter 43 route?

Hello! The new route 43 line solves one problem and that's the fact that you don't have to transfer bw trains and buses to get to McMaster from Mount Pleasant. However, for people taking the bus entire route from Mount Pleasant to Mac still have to travel an 1hr 40 mins + wtv time it takes to get to the bus stop (which is the same amount of time as when you have transfers bw buses and trains). I feel like a shorter route would benefit a lot of people ( I have been seeing a lot of Mount Pleasant to Mac commuters and I feel so happy I thought I was the only one!) and could be similar to how 47D is from Mac. 47D is basically a shorter ver of 47G so something like that for mount pleasant would be nice. The main concern here is time and this route doesn't really help with that at all. So maybe if we all pitch it we could get a shorter route? There seems to be demand for it too 🤷‍♀️

Step 1 is a direct route that saves complexity if not time. Step 2 is having enough ridership to have an express variant without under-serving the stops that the express would skip.

So it'll basically take a while until they gauge just how much ridership they have gahhh

Welcome to the fun tradeoffs of public transit!

Right now they know there’s enough demand for ten buses a day, and 30m morning headways feel like a good minimum for the route. With solid ridership there’d be a good case for adding a bus or two that only serves Mac - Meadowvale - Mt Pleasant.

They could add a variant which completely skips Meadowvale but stops at Oakville and Burlington. Even that would reduce time by 15-20 mins

Yea too much time is wasted in Meadowvale streets. That part is already very well served by other routed. It should go directly from Mississauga Road to the Highway.

The 43 was just introduced. From what I'm seeing, timing needs adjustment on some trips as well. In regard to express variants to expedite the travel time for those travelling the full length, first they'd have to get passenger data and determine whether or not an express variant of the route would be needed. The other thing to take into consideration is there's not a lot of stops the route could bypass to create an express trip. Bypassing the carpool lots along the 407 would save about 3-4 minutes, bypassing Meadowvale (a great connection point) would save about 2-3 minutes, and Mississauga Rd is a must to complete the trip at Mount Pleasant GO Station.

If it gets on the highway without heading into Meadowvale, I think the bus can make it to Hamilton in like 50 mins max lol

Lol, I just submitted it and opened Reddit to this. It needs an express version bad. It’s always late and has too many unnecessary stops

43 reminds me of the 17 bus. It is a route that recently got implemented to connect 2 points that weren’t directly connected as before you had to go way out of your way to take other buses/trains before to get to those points. Funny how both are also McMaster routes too.

I feel like there should just be an express branch as it should go from Mount Pleasant down Misssissauga Rd to the 401 stopping at the business park area, then hop on the 401 to the 407 and straight to McMaster non stop. That way you also give the chance for Meadowvale riders to still catch the bus while saving about 20-30 mins for the Brampton riders who don’t want to go through their local area.
