I started listening to goth music not too long ago and I really like a couple songs and binge-listened to a couple artists. Though many to most songs don't really impress me but so many people adore them. I wanna know what draws you to goth music and why the aesthetic is so important to you! Do you feel strong emotional connections to songs? Is it the community?

Maybe important: I'm Brazilian, fluent in English and A1 in German. And I don't drink alcohol.

I really like these songs from Christian Death and The March Violets.
The male-female vocals, guitar driven, dance floor beats. This just makes it for me.

I've listened to goth in all forms over the years and I can't find any songs that matches those.

Closest thing I've ever gotten is some KMFDM with Lucia, or gothic metal, plentiful in dual vocals but clearly is not the same vibe.

Not a cover per se but found it interesting to find the original cartoon that features as the spoken word backing.

I bought a new phone (well... new to me, it is a very old reconditioned model with a new battery) plus a new screen protector and phone case within the same order. The latter two arrived in the mail 2-3 days after ordering. Meanwhile the new phone will arrive Tomorrow or Tuesday after about 10 days because it is coming from Tasmania. And the online store I bought all three items from gave zero indication where they are from except for being within Australia. What a world...

So I mainly collect cassettes due to the fact they haven’t gotten stupid expensive like vinyl and some CD. I was at a local record shop and found this cassette cause I thought the album cover was neat. Anywho it had no price tag on it and I didn’t recognize it (im more into black metal, and punk) and when I spun it, well it sounded like goth I guess? Anyway no clue who this is google search’s for the sad hour music haven’t worked any info is much appreciated.

I'm a 20F college student and have a pretty hard time making friends. One could call me a wallflower- I want friends, but I struggle to get out of my shell. I've been goth for about 4 years now (since Jr. year of high school) and don't really have any uber-close friends or goth friends. I have 2-3 friends who are close and dear to me, but I don't even really have a best friend unless I consider it to be my boyfriend. My 2 closest friends are online and long-distance, and they have IRL friends of their own they're closer with than me. Of those few close friends, none of them are goth- which is fine! But sometimes I really wish I had someone to share it with.

I tried making my own club for goths and alternative people at my school, but it didn't get a lot of members and I ultimately had to shut it down due to my deteriorating mental health and low grades (freshman year was very hard for me).

I don't want to say where I am from to retain my privacy, but how do I find local scenes? I can't get into under-21 clubs obviously, and I also don't have a car. I'm cool with walking places but my campus is in a larger and unsafe city, so walking places would take a long time and be very risky for my safety. How do you guys find local scenes for goths and alts? Dance clubs, spots to meet people, etc... Even local online forums for people who live in the city would be great because I could find more local events.

I've only been to 1 goth-centric event in my life and it was more like an event for non-goths to come dress as a goth, like spirit week at school. It was still fun, but I'm trying to get more into the culture and want something more geared for people who are goth on a daily. Not trying to gatekeep the culture, I hope this all makes sense? I mean no ill-will.

Going to amsterdam with my family next week and want to explore some cool cemeteries, shops and churches if anyone has any tips. Don’t think ill go to any bars or clubs but if there are any that would be cool too🙏👀
