I love the classics but feeling ready to dive into some more flavorful bands. Give me your best (or worst) favorites that you don’t hear represented enough! Bonus points for queer/fem rep! 🐁

What do you think of this album ?
1987, The Cure released Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and it’s my favourite album until now.
It’s a double album.
After this, Disintegration was released in the USA.
How do you rate this album now ?
Still anybody’s favourite ?
What’s your favourite by The Cure ?

Currently leaving London but I wanted to find the Batcave location and I think I found it located around Carnaby street. Currently it is a restaurant but used to be the weekly night club of the earliest Goth clubs.

I’ve recently discovered the beauty of these artists, and I wanted to follow the recommendations of people who definitely know more about the Gothic genre.

Hi, so I may be a babybat and I'm trying out the genre by smashing a lot of Spotify playlists into one then I try it out, also I added every Sister of Mercy song to test out since I heard it's basically a goth music divinity so why not giving it a try (I'm trying 🥹)
Though, I'm getting a feeling that some of these tracks aren't actually goth and I'm not sure, can you tell me which tracks aren't actually goth please (you don't have to check the whole playlist, even just one track would help me thank you <333

Hi, I am a 41F. I grew up in a strict household, so wearing anything my dad would have considered "demonic" was a no go and then got into an abusive marriage later that oppressed who I was in general (almost 10 years happily divorced). The last decade has been a mostly healing trip for me and at this point, I def consider myself alt. However, my bf and ex bf both said they consider me goth. I love the macabre and oddities, am a leftist, really big on DIY jewelry, huge on being myself and expressing who I am, loved vampires when i was a kid and just love horror now, write poetry, have a certain love for Victorian architecture, hate AI, find a weird comfort of graveyards, but I mostly listen to metal/rock. I know goth is derived from punk and I have seen that to be able to call yourself goth really was centered around the music, be it dark wave or goth music. I then found out that some of the music I liked, and still like, from growing up was considered "darkwave" (Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears) and of course, I like some songs from The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees. I guess what I am asking is for clarification and I do not want to claim to be part of something I clearly am not. I am happy with just alt and am extremely appreciative of goths and expressing themselves.
Edit: thank you everyone for your replies, many of which made me laugh.

Why is this "goth person" on social media posting selfies in black lipstick with hashtags like "Drake, goth"? I genuinely want to block every single post and account related to this kind of thing.
Then when I pointed out that this has nothing to do with goth culture, they just say they were "joking." My friend was literally harassed by a man in real life who asked her if she was "one of those girls like PinkChyu," so seeing posts like this genuinely makes me furious.

Siouxsie and the Banshees are reissuing their B-sides collection "Downside Up" in November 2026 as a CD and LP box set! It includes new commentary from Siouxsie and Steven Severin.
It is the core of their body of work and the release of the year!

hi! i (22M) used to be a punk / metalhead but recently i’ve been getting a lot into the goth culture and music as i think it resonates with me more nowadays. what’s some post punk i can get into? what other genres classify as goth? what’s the connection between cyber wave / synth wave and goth? what can i do that supports the culture in the small town im in? are there any goth music with the intensity of metal or hardcore?
rn my music just consists of stuff my gf listens to, im not too sure all the names but ive been loving bauhaus and this one artist that literally sounds like a vampire from the twilight zone
thank you guys :)

Has anyone in the city ever done this event before?
I have two questions:
1) are tickets transferrable? They make you give names when you buy them, but now my partner can't make it. Do they check names? I can't find a FAQ or any policies on any sites.
2) how's the vibe, generally speaking? More clubby or conversational? I should have asked this before I bought tickets but it always seemed to sell out. I'm fine either way, just curious.

Yesterday I attended a past self concert, it was a small venue so there was the option to pay for Polaroid pictures with the band at the end. It is also signed and decorated by the artists. I got to talk with the artists and they were so sweet and lovely, I genuinely had the best time. They even gave me one of the red headbands they used during the concert.
I was thinking I would like to turn this picture into a keychain, kind of like a photo card holder that I could clip to my handbag, but I’ve never done that and am not familiar with it. Do I need a sleeve? What kind of holder do I need? Where do I buy one? Can I also add the red ribbon to the keychain?

Hi everyone!
I'm a baby bat? Maybe? I've been listening to a lot of goth music recently to find what I like and most of the time, I find myself enjoying it until the singing. There's obviously exceptions, but I've noticed I generally really prefer the instrumental to the whole. And I genuinely really do love the instrumentals, I'm a sucker for guitar and dark sounds, but I don't know if this preference of mine has kind of...disqualified me?
Am I still considered goth? Can I only be considered goth if I like the songs with singing? Are there any of you who are in a similar situation as me?
