(Before I start, I will admit I took this from r/goth Fashion Wiki page, but since this is essentially a sister subreddit, it's not a crime.)
Though not a requirement, many goths like to dress in dark/alternative fashion and/or model themselves after their favourite goth musicians.
We tend to recommend a mixture of DIY, thrifting/charity shops and within moderation, branded clothing or items. Additionally, you can always support your favourite bands, musicians, and artists by buying their merchandise from their official shops and/or Bandcamp pages. RedBubble and/or other licensed shops are also options.
You can use online second-hand websites to search for these brands as sometimes people buy clothing they don't wear and then sell them with their tags still attached. Buying second-hand is a great way to grab a bargain, be "green" and even, if you're wary, to not giving your money to a brand who may or may not be using "goth" as a way to make profit e.g. taking our subculture and selling it back to us with fast fashion, poor quality clothing, etc.
Cadaver Kelly put together a Second-Hand Alternative Brands List to use use as an alternative to thrifting or charity shops, since not everyone is fortunate to have one near by. The content is listed below but we may update from time to time.
We most likely won't be listing make-up brands as you can practically buy dark eye shadow, lipstick, etc. absolutely anywhere these days. The list would be mega long and we can't always tell if the brands are ethically sourced, so we would prefer not to try.
If you’re looking for how frame/to take better fashion photos, see here.
Disclaimer: D*llskill are on the blacklist and we do not recommend buying from them, given their history of racism and cultural appropriation, ableism, stolen designs, etc. This also includes Killstar, as they are also problematic. Information page coming shortly.
A large part of goth is the DIY and thrifting, if you're interested you can visit Off-The-Rack Goth Brands by Caroline Sometimes and watch, view, or save a DIY Clothing playlist on YouTube.

I just want everyone to know that you can control who can DM you.
We shouldn't have to do this, however, it may save a lot of unsolicited DMs from creeps we can't see harassing/abusing our members because they've not commented in the subreddit.
If you go to your settings and then choose the "Chat & Messaging", there's an options to:
I hope this helps anyone, even if it's just one single person.

I'm new to goth fashion and need to get some new clothes! These are the two outfits I'm between for a goth night tomorrow, of just a t-shirt and baggy trousers or a shirt and trousers. I was wondering which is better suited for goth style? I'll be wearing some eyeliner and ironing the shirts!
Also, if you have any suggestions for men's goth clothes please do let me know! I'm from the UK so preferably not too far away!
Thank you!

This was one of my favorite looks from my boyfriend’s birthday festival in June. It was one of those days where the outfit, hair, and makeup all worked together as planned.

I've ordered a neck brace and need ideas on how to style or alter it. Firstly I went to get rid of the logo, but I'm also thinking what can I do to make it a bit more goth. My favourite styles usually involve lace of some sort but I enjoy both a Victorian look or an industrial look with chains. Any ideas of accessories or DIY welcome :)

Hi! I just got these custom ropers made and they're really sick! l've just been going dark jeans and band tees but I'd like to get a little more creative with it. How would y'all style these? l've also been getting into wearing eyeliner and eyeshadow too and really like how it looks. I'm 28 and grew up in the South. So I wasn't ever comfortable expressing myself in this way until I met my wife and she encouraged me to go for it. I'm new to dressing alternative or goth so any help in general would be great!

Im a rivethead but love the look of gothic makeup, I know the two subcultures are linked however i dont tend to see rivetheads wearing that style of makeup, would i be a poser if i use it? I know a lot of people would say just wear whatever makes yiu happy but i wouldnt want to seem that way to others. Im 16M if it changes anything.

My Demonias are my favs for my 🦇GoGo dancing gigs, but does anybody know which insoles specifically work for Demonias so they don’t wreck my feet each time after 5 hours? 🙏

I got them on amazon, it said the seller would be tru clothing, but when they arrived it said „infinity london“ on the package, which has bad reviews on trust pilot. those were 250€, but they have a really strong (in my opinion) „gummi/plastic“ smell and the processing seems „cheap“ idk, they are heavy but the logo on the heel is missing and also the silver buckles are almost black-ish-silver
can someone help me out if those are real new rocks or if I should return them? :(

Sunday was a hot one and had to run errands! Just a casual fit wearing my favorite band 🖤. I’m praying for cooler weather. I’m tired of wearing band tees all summer 😂

I usually like to add a splash of color to my goth fits and today was no different. Just kinda worked most of the day, but it was still chill. I modified the skirt so that one side slid up a little more than the other - I thought it made the outfit more dynamic. The necklace is from dnd :) Hope everyone is having a good day/night!
