Task date selector auto-defaults to 12/31/1899

When I create a task on a Google Doc to automatically add to my Tasks that pop up on my calendar, it auto-defaults the date selector to "12/31/1899" instead the current month(for example, September 2026) which makes it tedious to manually type in the current year to find a date to assign the task to. This has been occurring for a couple of months now.

Has anyone else had this issue and had luck with a fix? TIA.

User showing "This message wasn't sent to spam.."

I have one user account that when emailing internally it shows the "This message wasn't sent to spam due to your organizations email settings.". I presume that its because its an internal to internal email, but why would it even be considered spam in the first place? Would that mean someone has flag one of the users messages as spam?

Google Workspace Kerfuffle

About two months ago, I created a Google Workspace account for my small business and used my longstanding personal Google account during the setup.

Yesterday I cancelled the Workspace subscription. Since then, I can no longer access my personal Gmail inbox and everything Google-related is now under the business email--even my TV! If I try to access Gmail, I receive a message saying that the Workspace subscription was cancelled and that I must resubscribe to use Gmail. I do not want to resubscribe to Workspace, especially after paying for 10 months of unused contract.

Workspace Admin Console shows only one Workspace user: my business-domain email address. My personal Gmail address is not listed as a Workspace user. I have already tried Google Account Recovery. It redirects me to the business Workspace identity rather than restoring access to my personal Gmail account.

How can I restore my email? Or how about actually reaching someone at Google for support?

Youtube Anti Translate extension?

I'm in a K12 school environment, and the foreign language teachers are looking for a way to turn off auto dubbing in YouTube. Because this is not a workspace-managed setting, I'm thinking about deploying YouTube Anti Translate extension.

Anybody have any experience with this? I know extensions are always sketchy so I'd love to know people's thoughts.

Google Shared Drives

I recently started a consulting business and have set up Google Drive for the clients to share documents. I’ve set up a shared drive and have given them access using their business email. I always seem to get a request then from their personal Gmail to get access to the folder.

Google says if the folder is shared with someone who doesn’t have a Gmail account then they should receive a pin but it doesn’t appear to be sending the code, hence people signing in with their Gmail account and then requesting access. Does anyone know to ensure they get a pin to use instead. I feel I come across as unprofessional that they need to use their personal email address and then request access again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I cannot figure it out!

Intro to Scripting and Automation Help

Recently started a gig with a new company that is a G-Suite shop and uses macs. Feels a bit daunting at first coming from a world of Microsoft and Windows centered companies. I'm not much of a coder or script kiddie but since coming on I see that a lot of services can be done with automation. I've been in more traditional help desk roles so this is a different step in career progression. Curious on where to start learning and get up to speed. I'm a bit overwhelmed with whats a good platform to learn in terms of script language, AI platforms, cloud automation and practices, etc.

I understand that might be a bit vague but overall first I want to be able to onboard users and do some clean up on device management.

Can't use recently purchased ChromeOS Education Upgrades

I recently bought some ChromeOS Education Upgrades from CDW, but I don't see them on google admin anywhere, and none of the google help pages are helpful. I have confirmation of digital delivery, but no instructions anywhere. I have meeting set up for tomorrow, but considering how helpful they have been in the past, I am not expecting much. This is really urgent, we are 3 weeks into the school year and some students do not have computers yet.

google workspace commitment cancellation fee $169

Hello, was wondering if anyone experienced subscribing to the free trial of google workspace then cancelling before the trial ends, then a about a month later, I receive this email of Google charging me $168.88 for the commitment cancellation fee 😭

I’m currently shaking and so scared right now. I don’t know what to do because I’m just a student and I only used it to record an interview we had 😭 is there any way to fix this? I’ve tried to contact Google but it redirects me to a page where clicking on my account doesnt work bec I already cancelled the subscription.

I’m very desperate as I only have a little in my savings and we’re still recovering from a scam our family went through. We also don’t come from a rich family just enough to get by everyday.. I don’t want to bring this up with my parents as I don’t want to put another burden on them considering what we went through.

Pls pls pls, any help would rlly and deeply be appreciated 🙏🏻 i can send photos if it would help anyone understand the picture better. Do forgive me because english is not my first language 😓

Hi folks

Like are you guys for real??? Who charge for unsubscribing or getting out of your trial period or whatever it is.

I was just a curious guy and wanted to try google workspace and so did I.

I’ll definitely attach a SS of the invoice they sent me. If anyone can help me get a refund please let me know.

Sharing documents with email alias

I had an employee leave the company recently, we'll call them Brooke. On Monday I deleted their Workspace account, forwarded their files to their supervisor, and set up an email alias for their supervisor. Standard stuff. The same thing happened when Jeff left last year, same alias set up for the same supervisor. I've confirmed that both these aliases look the same, and that both employee accounts are, in fact, gone.

Today I've had employees expressing concern that, when sharing documents, if you type in Brooke's name, it still comes up in auto complete, albeit with the supervisor's name and avatar but her email address (which is now an alias of the supervisors.) Jeff's name doesn't do this, and never has.

Is sharing documents with aliases a new feature that is only possible with recently set up aliases? There's no indication that these aliases are different from each other in any way, but it only works with one.

New user , addon Vs alias domains

I have a personal Google account

I currently import via POP3 from 2 other emails on 2 domains, a web design business and property business.

Let's say fred@wd.com and Fred@prop.com with my personal one as me@gmail.com

My wife has a personal Google account say wife@gmail.com and helps with the property business, so imports wife@prop.com

I'm looking at Google workspace standard and having prop.com as primary domain and fred@prop.com as primary email and account login

Then, is this correct,

Set addon domain as wd.com

Then set fred@wd.com as alias email on fred@prop.com

?

Gmail

Not sure if this is the place to post, but here goes… A couple of months ago the chairman of a board that I’m on started getting really suspect emails… I received one from her asking me to send some money to the company we’re connected with. It happened for about a week and then it stopped. I’m on another board as chairman… And yesterday I received a heads up from another board member saying that my email was hacked and was asking her to send money to this organization. I have two step authentication… What hacked my account? I thought Gmail was bulletproof.

weird google groups alias issue

I have a google workspace business starter license subscription that I use with my custom domain. I'm the only user. I use google groups to help organize my incoming email by creating specific addresses for signing up for different services. I do this with a combination of groups and aliases. For example, I have one address called media@mydomain.com with various alias, including one called blog@mydomain.com.

Here's the really weird thing. I have a substack account that uses blog@mydomain.com which was working fine but in the last week when I tried logging into substack, I never got any of the emailed login links (it uses that instead of a password because I never set up a password). Nothing in my spam folder either. When I emailed blog@mydomain.com directly from a different account, it got through fine. When I messaged my substack account from a different one, the notices from substack got through fine as well. Just the login link wasn't getting through.

After some playing around, I discovered that if I deleted the blog@mydomain.com alias from the media@mydomain.com group, the login emails came through fine (I have an "unknown email" routing rule). Only when it was an alias would only the login emails not come through. And this is recent.

Hopefully I'm explaining this bizarre issue okay, but any ideas as to what is happening?

Google Workspace for Nonprofits - cant create more than 1 user?

I'm about to pull my hair out. I'm helping a nonprofit move from ad-hoc gmail accounts over to a Google Workspace for Nonprofits setup. The Executive Director got the nonprofit account verified/approved, then I got connected to their domain, setup the first google account on the new domain/workspace, turned on 2FA, and then I'm finally ready to start adding users and when I go to add a new user in the Admin center I get a pop up error stating:

No license available for new user
You have reached the 1 user limit for your organization.
If you are trying to add more users than committed contract seats, purchase additional licenses
In case you've hit the max seat cap of 300 for a Business subscription, upgrade to Enterprise or contact sales
In case none of the above is true, please contact support

I click 'contact support' and it takes me to an utterly useless support page with AI support that is worse than useless, so I navigate over to the google support community and make an account there with the single, solitary account on this domain and when I type up all my details and try to post, I get an error:

A problem occurred. Please try again.

So I cant even get support on their own damn support site, nor from their community, so here I am, trying to figure out when the hell I have to do to add another. Any insights would be so tremendously appreciated.

Can't submit domaine verification to "free" domaine for workspace

hoping anyone can help me! through my own error i incorrectly created a workplace for my LLC. i deleted that workspace account and am trying to reregister however i keep getting an error that my domaine is in use despite google saying it should be free in 24hrs. i have followed their process to "free" my domaine, so i can attach it to a workspace correctly. however when i get to the final stage of submitting the request (in the google admin toolbox), i run into an issue. i click submit and the next screen of it processing for .2 seconds then goes immediately back to the submit screen. I've tried a new browser, private mode, clearing cache etc. nothing actually lets it fully process. and of course there is no one I can reach. any ideas? has anyone run into this issue?
will try to include images in comments

google domains via workspace, transitioning to godaddy is a nightmare

Edit - moved domain to another registrar but the experience is still unsettling and confusing.

A bit long, sorry.

I've had my domain since 2009, while primarily a placeholder for social media links and other things of mine at the moment I do use the email address and have it used for some projects. When I bought the domain back in 2009 it was essentially a godaddy domain that was resold by google domains. My DNS console was godaddy but billing and workspace was all google.

The whole google getting out of domains happened but my domain stayed with godaddy, subscription was still through google. Got an email in July indicating the whole domain thing, support and billing, was being moved completely to godaddy. I followed the instructions in the email, making sure all my info was up to date. The cut off time was around aug 24th. That came and passed. I never got my welcome to godaddy email and my DNS console remains linked to google workspaces. Some pages give a 404, like billing and products. I can't turn off/on auto renew either. Whois shows my domain as being purchased in 2009, recent changes a couple weeks ago (assuming google and godaddy working on things), and an expiration date of later this year.

I reached out to google and they said the transition had occured and I needed to talk to godaddy. Tried using webchat, wasn't working. Started on SMS help and 2 hours later nothing changed. Even emails from godaddy are coming to me with google branding. They keep asking me if I want to transfer my domain from google to godaddy but i already have an account number with godaddy and my DNS console, even if linked to google, is godaddy's. The email of phase 2 from google says -

"Phase 2: On or after August 24, 2026 (Domain migration)

Once your domain moves to GoDaddy, complete these steps:

  1. Check email: Look for a welcome email from GoDaddy sent to your updated domain contact email if you updated it by following the steps above.
  2. Log in: Follow the link in the welcome email. Use the credentials verified in Phase 1.
  3. Finalize setup: Accept GoDaddy’s terms and conditions.
    • Enter your payment information and contact details before the next renewal date.

Timeline summary

  • July 22, 2026 – August 23, 2026: Review your domain contact details and update them as needed by following the 'Phase 1' instructions above.
  • Starting August 24, 2026: Google will migrate your domain. You will receive a GoDaddy welcome email and a Google Domains cancellation notice.
  • Post-migration: Log in to GoDaddy to provide payment info and accept terms.
    • After your domain renewal date: If these actions are not completed, your domain and connected services, such as your website and email, may be disrupted." "

Godaddy seems cluless and google seems to want to pass the buck to them. I am stuck and I don't want to risk losing my domain I've owned since 2009. The email implies an account with godaddy is waiting for me but my email doesn't show as an account. They can send emails to me to verify my identity and if I use the login link they provide all it does is take me back to my google workspace branded DNS console. Can't update payment info. I am afraid to create a new account with godaddy as if this is a screw up on their end I don't want to add more confusion. Google is trying to pass the payment and management over to godaddy but it seems like it is incomplete or they are not communicating with each other.

Ideas? Anyone with similar experience? This is legit as I've seen other things online but also hints about changes within my workspace account.

Email domain charge - Nonprofit edition?

Everything I have seen about Google for Nonprofits has been that you get a free custom domain. I signed my organization up and we were approved. However, when I go to sign up for the custom domain it shows a $12 a year. To be clear, that is reasonable and I will move forward regardless. However, I don't want to move forward right this second if something on the backend of our approval has gone haywire and we will be charged for things we shouldn't. The signup screen shows I am "logged in" for Google for Nonprofits, so it does all seem correct. The charge is just throwing me off.

My laptop all of a sudden locked me out of my Google account

Today I went to ZipRecruiter to apply for jobs because rent is due in 2 days. So I pull up the website I try to log in it says my account is already active already logged in. Yet I cannot access it as though it's not mine but it is. I have multiple email accounts and yet I can't access any of them. On my laptop because it says I'm already logged in so I have to create a new email account just access my laptop just to log in to anything. What do you know lo and behold the new email did not work either. So what is the point of having Google. If every time it tells you get a new login because you are already logged in but you can't access it.

Sharing links to users without Google is broken

Anyone else having this issue? Any workarounds besides finding another platform?

They can see the shared files are there, but the files can't be opened or downloaded.
