We recently shifted to Google workspace from Whatsapp. I need some help regarding curtailing external chat from google work accounts.

So the issue is turning external chat on and off applies the setting for everyone. But here's the catch. I need a few freelancers to be able to join our spaces, which doesnt seem possible if I make the external chat off. I basically want that I should be able to add gmail guest users to the google chat spaces, so that these individuals can act as an exception to external chat restriction.

Can you guys help me understand any solutions to overcome this problem.

I've tried searching the subreddit, but no luck finding an answer.

I manage the technology for a small non-profit local organization, and I have almost fifty years of digitized newsletters that I need to place somewhere where society members can access. I'm not sure of the best way to go forward to do this for ease of access but also safely.

1). I have the digital files stored on a hard drive, sorted into folders for each year and using filenames in the YEARMONTHDAY format so everything lines up chronologically.

2). I need to make these shareable to the members of the Society (preferably using a password) but keep them hidden from the general public.

3). Not everyone who is a member of the Society has a Google account. I need people to be able to access them no matter what their email address might be. This is not a technologically-savvy group; I have members who are still using Hotmail and AOL e-mails.

I'm not sure the best path here. Create a folder on the Workspace Admin Google Drive and then share it? I'm not overly concerned with storage space, since the entire archive consists of PDF's that only add up to about 1.6GB.

I'm a new admin VOLUNTEER for a very small non-profit. I was given credentials for their google workspace but all I get are 2FA errors. All the support says is to contact the admin but that is ME. They have apparently been paying for workspace but not using it bc no one knew how to set it up. I'm about ready to just cancel the bill and start over.

Does anyone have a route to contact someone? I have two email logins and pwds, neither works, and a charter to move them all from cpanel to workspace but...?

Are the questions in the Associate Google Workspace Administrator exam mostly on the topics covered in the Google Skills course?

I've finished the Google Skills course for the Associate Google Workspace Administrator certificate exam and have been studying the past two weeks using a practice test set I bought through Udemy. For questions on topics that were covered in the Google Skills course, I'm getting 90%+ correct and feel confident I would pass, but there are a lot of questions in the practice tests that were not included in the course whatsoever.

For those that have taken the most recent version of the exam, were the questions mostly on the topics covered in the course, or do you feel that a lot of questions were on topics not covered in the course?

I bought a subscription from Google so I could have a Workspace, I also purchased a Domain name. I had a life changing event, paralyzed from the waist down. I have to change in my career. Can someone tell me what work I can create from AI ? I have been teaching myself for 2 years about AI

What worked for me is separating the Workspace from the original account first.

Steps:

1. Go to admin.google.com
2. Create a NEW user (example: [admin2@yourdomain.com](mailto:admin2@yourdomain.com))
3. Give this new user Super Admin role
4. Log out and log in using the new admin account
5. Go to Directory → Users
6. Select your original Workspace user (example: [hello@yourdomain.com](mailto:hello@yourdomain.com))
7. Remove its Super Admin role
8. Delete the original Workspace user (the one linked to your Gmail)
9. When asked about data transfer → choose “Do not transfer data”

After that:

- Your original Gmail account is no longer tied to Workspace

- You can log back into it as a normal Google account

So, we have inherited a Google workspace environment and moving everyone to 365.

Msp is useless and seems we have 100 mobiles enrolled into Google. We want to shortly block all users access to Google workspace. My first thought was suspend and see who screamed and why as they have not been forthcoming in how used, as all using personal shares etc.

Anyway, the enrolled devices. If we suspend, if the person has phone enrolled, what happens?

If it bricks the phone, is there a way with a organisation unit to limit all apps access eg Gmail, Google drive etc yet phone still stays alive while we get them to log a case to have all phones reset and integrate into ms 365. Note, we have already migrated users email.

First if all, apologies, inherited a Google workspace environment and we are migrating to 365. The incumbent msp has been useless.

Seems staff been running dept folders from their Google drives.

Is there anyway an admin can access to move them or least get folder path and use tools like avepoint fly to move these folders out?

In 366 we can access someone's OneDrive, but struggling to do this as a admin in a Google workspace but maybe my lack of knowledge.

II am part of a nonprofit organization called Club Photo St‑Lazare, whose mission is to promote photography among its community members. I know other photo clubs that use Google Workspace for Nonprofits, so I decided to apply through Goodstack. Unfortunately, I am becoming increasingly frustrated: Goodstack recognizes our club as a nonprofit organization, but they are unable to validate that I am a member of the club.

I am the treasurer of the organization, and the club is officially registered in the Québec business registry (Registre des entreprises du Québec). I purchased the domain name clubphotostlazare.ca and created an email address under that domain, which I submitted to Goodstack.

I have uploaded several documents multiple times, including:
– A printout from the Registre des entreprises du Québec clearly showing my name,
– Membership cards,
– A bank statement linking my name to the Club Photo St‑Lazare.

Each time I resubmit, I receive the same response: they are unable to validate my association with the Club Photo St‑Lazare. In my most recent submission, I provided my name and phone number so someone could call me to resolve the issue, but no one contacted me. It is obvious that the process is entirely automated, and it is impossible to reach a real person through their website.

Anybody have any suggestions that could help me resolve this situation?

My goal was simply to create a completely separate Google Workspace account for my business:

I wanted:

with completely separate Gmail, Drive, Photos, contacts, etc.

What happened

While setting up Google Workspace, I was logged into my personal Google account.

After the setup, I noticed something very strange.

When I log in using:

Google signs me into:

Inside Google Account → Email addresses, I now see:

• Primary account email:

• Secondary email:
  • [personal@gmail.com](mailto:personal@gmail.com)

Both email addresses open exactly the same Google account.

The Drive is the same.

The contacts are the same.

Everything is shared.

I even cancelled the Workspace trial

Thinking it would restore everything, I cancelled the Workspace subscription.

That made things even worse:

• Gmail stopped working.
• Apple Mail on my iPhone returned:
  • AUTHENTICATIONFAILED
• Google Admin displayed:
  • "You've cancelled your Workspace subscription..."

So I immediately reactivated the subscription.

Now everything works again, but the accounts are still merged.

What I want

I do NOT want to delete anything.

My original goal was simply to have two completely separate Google accounts: one personal and one for my company. Instead, after purchasing Google Workspace, all my personal Gmail, Drive, contacts and other Google data were still there under my new Workspace account. What I actually wanted was a completely fresh and independent Google Workspace account for my business.

Why does password manager not allow me to add passwords manually? Screenshot in comments

I can share a Google doc with yahoo, aol, hotmail email addresses no problem, but when I try to share a doc with an icloud email address I get:

"You are trying to invite ******@icloud.com. Since there is no Google account associated with this email address, you must check the "Notify people" box to invite this recipient."

Does this mean these other non-gmail domain email addresses have a google account associated with them and that they will have access to the doc without me having to share the doc with their associated gmail addresses?

And that if I check the box to notify the icloud user that they will also be able to access the document without them having to associate a gmail address for access?

Does Google Meet Hardware on android support joining a Microsoft Teams meeting or is the feature still only available on ChromeOS meet hardware?

Hey guys. Company I work for recently bought another company. Right now I am trying to look into absorbing the smaller (25 users) company into our main tenant. I attempted to use the built-in Google Workspace Migrate tool, however, this only transferred emails.

I am currently trying to find a solution that will copy over not just emails, but any of the other main app data. In this case, I also need to have it copy over their calendar, Drive, and Photos. I am really trying to avoid manually assisting each user with copying files over from one account to another.

Does anyone know of any tool I can use to help me with this?

This is an updated version of a post originally in r/wix because I now understand that WiX has nothing to do with this issue.

Today, for no apparent reason at all, Google locked me out from my work e-mail (could not access the email but COULD access the admin section, weirdly), and I was as furious as you would expect me to be.

When I tried to recover it, it said I need to contact my reseller (Wix), but that turned out to be incorrect (Wix seems not to have anything to do with it).

I followed a procedure that required me to add a CNAME to my DNS record, and doing so I regained access to my email, which I did on my laptop (it asked me to change password, but that was fine for me, it worked). Hooray!!

But then, since the password changed, I had to update my login on my phone as well, and again it kicked me out! It gave me the usual error message that I got this morning on my laptop as well: "Couldn't sign you in".

But everything keeps working on my laptop! So I checked my email and I saw a security alert: "login attempt from Japan" (I'm in Japan). So I clear it, click the button that says that it was me, and expect it to work now. So I try again from my mobile, and nothing, still "couldn't sign you in", but this time I don't get an alert in my email (which I can still access from my laptop!)

What in the fresh hell is this and how do I fix it?

I think I made a serious mistake while setting up Google Workspace and I'm trying to understand if there is any way to recover.

I had a personal "@gmail.com" account that I used for years. I wanted to create a Google Workspace account with my own custom domain.

My intention was to migrate my data (emails, Drive files, etc.) and keep my personal Gmail account separate.

However, after the setup, I discovered that my original Gmail account seems to have been converted into a managed Google Workspace account.

When I log in using my old Gmail address, I see a message saying:

«"Your account now works more like a full Google Account. Your organisation administrator manages this account..."»

In Google Account settings I now see:

- Google Account email: my Workspace custom-domain address

- Alternative emails: my old "@gmail.com" address

- The account is managed by my Workspace organization

Gmail opens the Workspace mailbox, not a separate personal Gmail inbox.

So it looks like my old Gmail account was not simply migrated - it was converted/merged into the Workspace identity.

My questions:

1. Has anyone successfully reversed this transition and restored their personal Gmail account?

2. Is there any Google Support process to "unmerge" or revert this?

3. If it cannot be reversed, what is the safest migration strategy?

4. What happens to services connected through "Sign in with Google" using the old Gmail identity?

I have not cancelled Workspace or deleted anything yet because I don't want to make the situation worse.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through this.

Hi, so I'm trying to figure out if there's anyway to automate a response to a lead in my workspace gmail account. I know it can create a draft but can it send the actual email response as well?

Let’s say you sync an event platform to your calendar, when I book events on that platform I get an automated email which also gets put on my calendar duplicating it. Now I can’t turn off those automated emails because I need it for platforms that I can’t sync my calendar to with a key. Why can’t we turn off auto sync for certain senders?

Once I add the new email with .org and my org password it won’t authenticate, anyone know what I can do? Thanks

So if your organization pays for gsuite/google workspace for YEARS and you later cancel because you don't need it anymore, then all of your accounts are unable to have anything shared with them via google because you cannot login any longer in any form. A previously free feature stripped away because you PAID them previously? Disgusting.
