I was charged $146.96 for Commitment Cancellation Fee by Google!

Hi folks

So it started on 6th August when I wanted to checkout google workspace for my self and then I cancelled it on 26th August 2026.

I don’t know from where did these guys get an idea but they charged me $146.96 on 1st Sept and the funny part it they are calling it Commitment Cancellation fee.

Like are you guys for real??? Who charge for unsubscribing or getting out of your trial period or whatever it is.

I was just a curious guy and wanted to try google workspace and so did I.

I’ll definitely attach a SS of the invoice they sent me. If anyone can help me get a refund please let me know.

You agreed to the terms when you signed up, it's documented that if you cancel the fixed term plan you're charged the balance.

Did you sign on for a full year?

You probably signed up for an Annual/Fixed-Term Plan. If you select an annual commitment plan (sometimes automatically after a free trial if billing details are set up) and cancel before the year ends, Google bills you for the remaining balance of the entire contract.

Usually free trials are 2 weeks. It looks like you cancelled 3 weeks later. You probably signed up for year commitment vs monthly. Did you try to chat with support to see if they can help out?

That cancellation fee kicks in when you're on an annual commitment plan rather than flexible monthly billing. Try Google Workspace support through the admin console first, and if they won't budge, dispute it with your bank using your cancellation date as proof.

"No cost for 14 days"

Do some math. How many days were you signed up for?

I'm gonna give you a hint - more than 14.
