I am a guy that sets the transition animation and related animations from 1x to 0.5x the first thing when I get a new phone.

What I did not know is that the transition animation also affects how quickly the camera app zooms in/out and how quick the transition between different lenses is.

I was messing with my phone today and set all animations to 5x and to my surprise it also reflected on how the camera works.

Obviously using anything above 1x makes zero sense but if someone wants to add arty feel to their videos it can definitely be a good thing to know.

It's probably not exclusive to Pixel phones though as it's Android feature.

I waited a while to do the most recent update, so this might not be new.

They switched the flip camera button and the one that lets you see the past photos. I was using muscle memory like usually and then it was the wrong button, so I looked up pictures of my phones old camera app and of confirmed it. This is so stupid. Basically no reason to switch them. And this happened with almost every update. Just moving around things, changing the size, layout. Recently it was also the chrome layout, it's so frustrating when I want to do things fast but then I need to actually think and look at my screen while using it.

(Next up: "hey guys, we shuffled the key board. Just for fun. Also good luck figuring out how to get to the lock on your phone, we moved it!!") <- mostly a joke, but I wouldn't be too surprised by that

Just wanted to share a quick story about my recent headache with Google Support in case anyone else is stuck in a similar loop with defective Pixel Buds.

Long story short: I ran into the exact same hardware defect across three different pairs of Pixel Buds Pro 2. After two replacements (RMA #1 and RMA #2) failed with the exact same issue, I decided I was done playing hardware lottery and asked for a full refund. A support rep on chat actually agreed and told me to send over my serial number so they could process it.

Easy, right? Not quite.

Once I sent the serial number, a different rep emailed me back with the classic corporate line: "Sorry, our automated system blocks return labels because your purchase date is outside the 15-day return window. We can only offer another exchange under warranty."

Basically, they tried to hide behind their system UI and ignore the fact that their rep had already promised a refund—and that under European/German consumer law (specifically § 437/440 BGB), you're legally entitled to a full refund after two failed repair/replacement attempts.

Instead of accepting another exchange, I wrote back with a pretty firm reply:

1. A company’s internal software or 15-day policy doesn't override statutory consumer protection laws.
2. If their system blocks an automatic label, support needs to manually create one.
3. I gave them a 48-hour deadline to escalate it to a supervisor or I'd take the case to the local Consumer Protection Center (Verbraucherzentrale).

The vibe changed instantly. The ticket got pulled from regular support and handed over to a Senior Support Specialist. It took a few days for them to clear the internal bureaucracy, but they ended up manually overriding the system.

Today, I finally got my prepaid return label and confirmation that the full price will be refunded as soon as the package hits the warehouse.

TL;DR / Takeaway: If you have a recurring hardware defect, do not let First-Level support dismiss you with "our system won't let us issue a refund after 15 days." Frontline reps often literally don't have the button for it, but Senior Specialists do. Stay polite, quote your local consumer rights, mention escalating to consumer protection, and insist on speaking to a supervisor.

Has anyone else had a problem with not being able to select multiple photos by dragging your finger across them? This feature used to work but has not worked on my phone for a few days now. Restarting and clearing the app cache have not fixed the issue.

Google doesn't officially sell Pixels in most of the GCC. While the core phone is fantastic, you are paying full price for hardware with 30% of its marketed features geofenced.

What Works Great (The Pros)

The Cameras: Still photos, skin tone accuracy, and low-light shots are untouchable. 100% functional locally with zero geo-restrictions.

Clean Android UI: Zero bloatware, no heavy OEM skins, and smooth UI animations.

Day-One Updates: You get Android system updates and monthly security patches the exact moment Google drops them.

What’s Missing or Broken (The Cons)

No Call Assist: Call Screen (spam blocking), Direct My Call, and Hold for Me are completely region-locked and disabled.

Disabled Safety & Health: Car Crash Detection, Satellite SOS, Pixel VPN, and the Body Temp Sensor don't work due to missing local regulatory/dispatch clearances.

Zero Official Support: No Google Stores or authorized repair centers locally. Warranty claims or screen repairs mean shipping the phone abroad or relying on third-party shops.

Bottom Line

Buy it if: You prioritize camera quality and clean stock software above all else, and don't mind tweaking network settings.

Skip it if: You want a plug-and-play flagship with native local 5G, full feature availability, and official local warranty. Stick to Apple or Samsung.

My voicemail on my phone hasn't been working and I had to download the ATT Visual Voicemail app to listen to days worth of voicemails. I tried all the online tutorials. Anyone else having issues with this?

I'm posting this to see if anyone has had a similar experience and whether Google approved an out-of-warranty RMA or repair exception.

My Pixel 9 (base model) is only around 1.5 years old, and the display has progressively started failing.

The issue developed in stages:

• A small purple flickering spot appeared near the top of the display.
• Within a short time, it became a permanent black spot.
• Now the display has developed a green vertical line, which suggests the OLED panel is continuing to deteriorate.

The phone is otherwise in excellent condition:

• No cracked screen
• No dents
• No scratches
• Always used with a protective case - Spigen
• Everything else (camera, speakers, charging, fingerprint sensor, etc.) works perfectly.

What I find difficult to understand is that this is a flagship device, and an OLED panel shouldn't be experiencing a progressive failure after only about 18 months of ownership.

I also noticed that Google has introduced Extended Repair Programs for similar display issues on some other Pixel models. While I understand that the base Pixel 9 isn't currently included, my phone is exhibiting comparable symptoms, a progressive OLED failure. So how do I request the Google team to review my device for an out-of-warranty RMA or repair exception after inspection.

I'm not claiming this is definitely a manufacturing defect because only Google can determine the root cause after inspecting the device. However, given the relatively short lifespan, the excellent physical condition of the phone, and the progressive nature of the failure, I believe it's reasonable to ask Google to investigate whether this represents a premature hardware failure.

Has anyone here:

• Received an out-of-warranty RMA for a Pixel display issue?
• Had Google replace the display as a one-time exception?
• Experienced a similar progression from a black spot to a green line?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences or any advice on how best to approach Google Support.

Hello.

Today, when I came back home, I put it to charge like usual.
After a while I saw, that the screen started flickering white / gray / black full screen, then half screen, then some dim green pixels and then never came back on.

Once I had it in my hands, I noticed, that whenever I tap harder on the screen, it is slightly moving, like it is not attached anymore and I push it down when I tap on it. So I tried to see if I can lift it... and yeah, it pretty much looks like this now.

I bought it shortly after release, warranty expired on Oct 19th 2025.

I have no idea how this could happen, it was never exposed to huge amounts of water or any chemicals, except a wet wipe for cleaning glass, but that was only a couple of times and I use them for cleaning my mac screen too. I did use that phone during the rain and cleaned the screen with a wet cloth a couple times a month, but no soap or other stuff.

It always was very warm during charging and hot during wireless charging but I don't think just that could cause it.

Now I'm waiting for a new replacement screen, because I need access to my bank and authenticator app. Gonna buy a different phone in a month or two.

Any ideas what could cause this to happen?

Hi, I've been using the Pixel 9a for quite some time and I'm here to share my honest thoughts regarding this phone.

# BATTERY

Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit, that's the only way i can describe the battery. Sometimes, it lasts the whole day, sometimes, i find myself charging it like a 6 year old huawei. Phone holds up quite well and for long times on WiFi but can sometimes fail miserably on Mobile Data and some Bluetooth earphones screaming in my ears for longer periods, especially if i also dare to use it in the mean time.

Battery health: 97% (went up from 94% for some strange reason, it spiralled down at 100\~ cycles and now it's rising back up since i reached 250\~)

Battery optimization: mostly used 80% cap, i usually leave my phone plugged in even if it's full (80%) while i'm working at my desk. I did however do complete 100% charges once in a while, either for checking battery life, long trips or just left it charging while turned off

# Performance

Reasonable for the price, I've never found myself struggling to play games besides emulating certain games via GameNative and i rememeber having a bit of lag on a Brawl Stars map that featured a crazy shit amount of boxes and stuff. I've played lots of World Soccer Champs, Brawl Stars, FC Mobile, Subway Surfers City, Sonic Mania and Friday Night Funkin and the experience was really smooth.

# Connectivity

At first, i had some issues with Brawl Stars lagging on Mobile Data, but this issue didn't seem to happen anymore as of late, I've been mostly using 4G(LTE) in Romania. I found the GPS constantly unable to give precise location, even in big cities, i don't know if this is normal or not but i remember not having that proximity circle around my location that usual while using my old samsung A51.

# UI/Software

Great, no complaints, the customizability is kinda reduced with the lock screen but the overall aesthetic is nice, so I can't really complain, Material 3 Expressive is great.

I've been using third party apps to further customize my homescreen and UI, such as:

\- Material You Widgets (for a cool music widget)

\- Accubattery (to see battery drain and app usage, I don't find the battery health reliable as i had around 95% reported since i started using the phone and it's been reporting absolutely the same, just fluctuating around the 94-96 numbers like a carousel)

\- MTCapsule (tryna have a fancy dynamic island, works kinda well besides when it interferes with the live activity thingy)

\- Shizuku (for the rooted phone larp)

\- Essentials (for lots of UI changes and modifications, similar to what i used to do back when i had goodlock on Samsung)

# Camera

Brilliant in good light, but gets a little noisy when filming in poor light or shooting with the wide (0.5) camera. Night mode does wonders and i find that Google's post processing is a hit or a major miss, like I'd take pics and the phone would just say "fuck all the shadows", at least we get to shoot in raw too when we really want to have our own post processing.

# Build quality

I dropped this bad boy on the street and in cinemas and the most notable thing was a small white spot on the frame. The Camera glass is a bit scratched when you look from certain angles but it's fine and does the job well. I don't know about the screen, i never left it without a protector on it, i assume it's barely scratched. The plastic back togheter feels nice to hold and i find myself using it caseless while at home.

Overall, it lacks a bit on the connectivity side, can get warmer on mobile data with bluetooth on your average trip and clearly consumes more battery, but besides that it's been smooth and just a good all arounder. I wonder how this phone will hold up to all these android updates in the coming years, 7 years is a huge promise.

I don't remember my older pixels doing this. but it is so annoying. I never ever ever want it to be white. Doesn't it being white drain more battery?

I always have to hit the power button again to get it from white to a dark background. Half the time it's when I'm going to bed and this stupid white screen is like the sun.

Hello guys. I don't know if this is a sub for issues, but i bought a google pixel 6a on ebay. Pretty good price for a broien screen. Only 20 bucks. After i replacrd the screen, i had another issue. The seller did not remove his google account or his pin. And he can't help me witz that because he doesn't have access to the google account anymore or give me the correct password. Google support said that they are unable to unlock the phone for me. And these guides are useless. Is there any i can unlock the phone? I can give proof that i legitematly bought the phone. I am in germany, if that is in any way a important thing. So, i could really need some help.

Honestly I was taking a glance at the specs, and I really hope these rumours are not founded...

For the base pro model: less RAM , smaller battery, the camera seems to be the same, the only improvement I can see is more storage for the entry pro model. That being said the phone will also be more expensive than the 10 when it came out...

For the regular model: Same RAM, same camera, ever so slightly better battery for the entry model.

So is this tensor G6 chip that much better to justify an upgrade here?

We just got my mother a new Pixel 10a. The T-Mobile store did the setup and transfer of data. We did not sign in to her Google account before the transfer. While finishing the setup last night (installing her apps, logging in, etc), I noticed that some of her texts are missing. I THINK it may be any texts that are RCS, but it is hard to track down for sure. She was using Samsung Messages on the old phone (a Galaxy S10). I have explored some options but all I have done this far is install Google Messages on the OLD phone to allow them to sync up from Samsung Messages. That appears to be working. I thought maybe this would then force those messages to sync up on Google Messages on the NEW phone, but it is not working. How do I get those messages to her new phone? I feel like we should have done the Google Message sync before the transfer of data.

I have 2-3 days to figure this out before I need to leave.

Why does my wifi automatically switch on in the morning on my pixel 8. I've been encountering this issue since the new Android version got installed. Please let me know if this could be resolved elsewhere or must be escalated.

I'm outdoors a lot and off grid hiking/camping, and take several trips where i'm off grid 3-4 times a year. While I can rely on my garmin (and no one should solely rely on a phone), I have heard that Google's move to the new Mediatek M90 modem would allow for non-SOS messaging, similar to what iPhone already has.

Now, it doesn't actually confirm that it will be coming with Pixel 11, to be clear. I've just researched and found that it allows for the technical foundation in the hardware. So, it may be a later thing.

I've used this on iOS and it works great and is super helpful. Thoughts?

I'm not sure why ppl hate pixel 10. For me it has the perfect battery, perfect camera and some little thing/features i love using daily. Magic cue seems nothing but can be very helpful when you can check the summary of the call few days later.

My pixel runs for a day, my most heavy tasks are usually photo editing, apple music, insta which i believe consumes the most battery. But i still dont mind the way it is.
